HONDA ACCORD NO CRANK DEAD BRICKED BCM KEY PROGRAM FIX

  • In today's video we take a look at a 2021 Honda Accord with a 4 cylinder engine. The owners complaint is that the vehicle is a no crank no start. They recently had a locksmith come out and try to program a brand new key from the dealership, however during the programming they managed to lock up the BCM and now it will no longer accept any keys. According to this Honda Service Bulletin static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/202... The BCM can become damaged when trying to use an aftermarket programmer to add a key. The fix for this would be to have the vehicle towed to a Honda dealer and pay to replace the BCM and program new keys. However, there is a work around that I have read about on several locksmith forums. They say that you can actually get the vehicle to start using a generated Xhorse Universal Smart key. For some reason even though the BCM will no longer accept OEM or aftermarket keys, it will accept an Xhorse smart key.

There's still an RFID chip in the handle of the key. The key will unlock the door and turn the ignition, but the engine will just crank without firing. Or your car might just be older.

Agree, its nice and simple, as in my 69 corvette, yet - not safe.
Its easy to break into and steal a car with physical key, as well as key fob, the safest security system would be one using the rolling code ( it changes password of the key every time you use it) The key generates the password according to algorithm that spits out the code, and lock checks if it fits the algorithm. Its very hard to steal, yet there are a couple of ways...

I just bought a 2021 Ford Transit, they only had 1 of the 4 keys/fobs that it originally came with, I ordered 2 from ebay, 30.00, took the keys to Ace, they charged me 8.00 each to do the side cut (or whatever it's called). Seeing how I needed a new ODB2 reader, I bought the Xtool IP819 for 325.00 and programmed both remotes, and wiped out the 3 that I did not get.

Personally I've yet to run into this issue with programming smart keys to Honda 2019 and up yet but I also stick to using XHorse for doing the vehicle key programming. There's no mention in the XHorse protocols about using an older or newer system. It just over-rides the start button and gets into the programming. Who knows, maybe it has changed since the last time I used it. XHorse is coming out with Honda style boards if you want to make it look professional. I like an OEM look.
