I was at the match with four mates when Mark snapped his Achilles, there was a loud cracking sound, we were all season ticket holders, Colin one of the five who played a little said “ that’s his Achilles gone, that’s him finished” we were all gutted he and Alan where a great partnership, at Alan’s first ever match at Anfield, half way through, Colin said you’ll do me lad. What a pair they were, all watching from the Anfield Road end. Now in my 87th year I am the only one left of the five, sadly I am not able to go to the matches now but still have my club membership and keep up with Liverpool TV.

He speaks a lot of sense - especially regarding all the jargon modern-day pundits endlessly prattle on about. Back in the day we just used to watch a football match, appreciate the game and get on with it. Now we have ex-players messing around on giant touch screens, telling us all about high-lines, pressing, low-blocks, transitions, channels, blah blah blah. Mind-numbing.

I played in a charity match in the 80's when I was 16 on the same side as Lawrenson. I scored from 25 yards and he said some snied remark to a team mate, didn't congratulate me or even say well done or well played after the game which I thought was really poor from a grown man (especially one I idolised as a Liverpool fan). Wouldn't have taken much and would have been a memory of a lifetime. Never liked the man since & I'm pretty sure I understand why he was a failure as a Manager.

Underrated as a player? I was always of the opinion his partnership with Hansen was viewed as best of all time (at least to that point). Can you get higher praise?
It's sad he's throwing the word 'woke' around in a _negative_ sense (like right wing idiots / scum do). Woke means you understand how people are oppressed. Sure, phonies might claim oppression but there are so many people genuinely being discriminated against: women, POC, atheists(!), the unemployed, environmentalists, homosexuals and the disabled. Basically, whoever billionaire media moguls tell their idiot subscribers to hate. Woke is the way to be. Capitalists are killing the planet lest we forget.
