But it's okay for Gary Lineker? Because Gary's political views are in line with BBC and Government agendas?
      Gary Neville as well.
It's either acceptable to have a political opinion or its not.... can't start cancelling and sacking people for their personal opinion and allowing others to spout theirs all over the place if theirs I'd considered acceptable to whoever is deciding what opinion is acceptable.
The FA showed political support for LGBTQ but the second they were threatened to have Harry Kane banned for one match if he wire a rainbow armband they dropped the opinion... showing how much they really think of it.... they also lit up Wembley in Ukraine colours but wouldn't do it for Israel after October 7th because they're shit scared of aggressive Muslims.
The exact same reason they shit themselves in Qatar and dropped the rainbow armband.
And the Police stand there allowing Muslims to shout vile abuse and hatred towards Jews on the street right in front of them and do nothing but if a fan shouts a homophobic slur in a stadium they kick his door off at 6am 24 hours later, have him in court and his name splattered in papers and on BBC sport...
The police, government and all authorities are frightened to death of upsetting Muslims here....
To such a point they literally allow them to abuse everyone else

With all due respect, in the 70s there was no passback rule and far too risky to play out from the back on those heavy muddy pitches.
Playing out from the back is only possible now because the pitches are flat, fast and watered... trying to play that way on bobbly muddy pitches would have just been a disaster in those days.
Even until the early to mid 90s it wouldn't have worked.
Look at those heavy muddy pitches back then where the ball sticks. Come on mate?

Got bored watching balls kicked out the park to waste time. Talentless players who are just athletes. Fans cheering when their teams win a corner. The same rubbish every week when we hear. We need to take our chances. What a load of drivel. The same players will continue to miss chances. You can coach all you want, practise shooting, but a player will reach his maximum ability and if he cant shoot he cant shoot. Matt is right. I want to be entertained. People pay a lot of money, they work hard all week, then you hear managers say. Im not hear to entertain . Well im not here to spend hard earned money watching drivel. Another thing, theres nothing wrong with a one club player. They will always be put on a pedestal by their clubs fans. Better than the ones who kiss the jersey then a year later go somewhere else and kiss another jersey

EDIT: aaaah, it was actually about covid tests, not heart issues! He pointed out that clubs in the relegation zone had the most positive covid cases, e.g. trying to get the season cancelled.
He simply voiced some ideas against the C0VID / V@ccIne narrative, like should we investigate heart issues, do youngsters need the shot and does the shot prevent transmission, all perfectly normal things to ask

I have learned from my encounters with psychopaths that they have a tendency to do spiteful, childish things. You can make them your enemy for any reason. You may have a slightly different opinion or just say or do something that only an immature person would be upset by. They also do not understand sarcasm. They take it literally. I believe many leadership positions have been taken over by these characters. It tends to lead to organizations losing revenue, good and hardworking staff and failing to function properly.

Interesting interview Ben, but nothing on the content of what Matt believes in. Just everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Sounds great, but with that comes responsibility if you are in the public eye. You also appeared to agree with him that the things he voiced have since been proved correct. He was a decent footballer, but believes the world, and Sky are against him, and on that alone he is probably correct.

  • @peterjones2605

Agreed with virtually everything Matt said apart from his suggested demographic voting system. 51% of people voting in favour on an issue shouldn’t trump the 49% voting against it. If that would have happened over the last few years then every political message propagandised by main stream media would have been carried into law, despite nearly half the people voting against it. Democracy should be like science, it’s not about consensus it’s about achieving the correct outcome by conflict of interest free debate.

Complete dinosaur. Today's players are 100% better technically right across the pitch. Every player in every position can control and pass better these days and are professional athletes at the same time. The 'headless chicken' analogy just isn't true. He's just bitter because he was lazy. Imagine him if he'd had worked hard as well. Southampton would have been so much better. At least people like Carragher have grown with the times and realise the modern game is so much better. Bitter man who is stuck in a time warp. If he thinks the modern game doesn't have chaos any more treat him to a ticket to Anfield.

Mate, stop playing the victim. You worked for sky. You on tv for sky. You pull the line. There’s things you can’t do, or things you can’t say or express on, to the public, he knows this. You play the game if you don’t agree. If you don’t, don’t cry about being sacked.
There’s things every day normal people , working for companies , not in the public’s eye, that they cannot do or say as they represent the company, they would get sacked. Cry baby. Get over it mate. You messed up , no one else. Apart from that , you was never underrated. All top clubs wanted ya, YOU chose to stay at Southampton. Top class player, however , very lazy, and sometimes packed a bit of timber.
Grow up mate dry the tears.

I learnt so much about Matt who I'd always respected as a footballer despite his sticking to Southampton for virtually all his career. He was quite open and I respected him a lot more when I found out about why he stuck at Southampton ( a big shame Wayne Rooney couldn't have thought more like that for Everton but there you go !) . So I was with him 100% ..until he ruined at all by being sponsored by a Cannabis derivate supplier. Speaking up for CBD is absolutely DREADFUL and is tantamount to calling for legalising Cannabis which I have a major problem with. He is on about COVID-19 vaccine etc but he's then peddling crap about 'Big Phama' companies stopping or trying to stop legalised Cannabis derivatives. IMHO Matt is a good man and made a lot a sense but it's a shame he's been corrupted by a cannabis derivative lobby.
