      Ok I've seen / heard this many a time, but why are people saying Jaina is a dreadlord?

    • @WondderWaffel
      @WondderWaffel 3 года назад +17

      @@darth-imperius It stems from a theory that youtuber Jesse Cox (previously known as OMFGcata) presented after the Siege of Orgrimmar ending cinematic, where Jaina tried to convince Varian Vrynn to annihilate the horde there and then.
      Jesse Cox thought that this was so out of character for Jaina, as she had sacrificed so much for peace between the Horde and Alliance (her father being a notable example)
      That he came up with the 'conspiracy theory' that Jaina was dead/gone and had been replaced with a dreadlord that took on her appearance.
      This garnered quite a bit of attention as a meme and satire for WoW's story arc for some of it's older characters. But it didn't really blow up till the question was asked during a blizzcon QnA session with the devs, where they were asked by an attendee if "Jaina is a dreadlord?"
      Boom, theory spread around the community and has stuck around as a meme for all these years.
      (I can't remember if it actually was Jesse Cox who asked it the first time around during a blizzcon, but he's had many funny interaction with the lore devs post this where they'll banter about her being/not being a dreadlord)

      The notable example of Jaina being originally so strongly in favor of peace that she refused to help her father who renewed war against the Horde... and then later she acted as mustache twirling villain in purge of Dalaran and later at the end of Siege of Orgimmar, it also convince me that she HAS TO BE a Dreadlord. Even after the whole BFA arc, it's still kinda easier for me to believe that the Dread Lord just learned to be a better actor, than thinking Jaina was herself the whole time.

    Honestly I thought that Sylvanas' soul-split was basically confirmed the second I saw the book cover of the new Sylvanas book by Christie Golden coming out in November. I don't think it's a coincidence that Blizzard decided that Sylvanas be portrayed split on the book cover, with the same gold and blue colors of Uther's soul-split from the cinematic we saw. Just my two cents though. Maybe others can chime in.

      @ezlyfe Balance for one. I was playing a monk. I started out as Necrolord because I liked the aesthetic and the ability was interesting to me and was ok for healing and tanking, but as my guild started prog in Mythic and I was needed as DPS more often I was always at the bottom of the meters. That got old fast. So I switched to Kyrian, and saw improvements of around 1k dps. Other classes felt frustrating as well. Warlocks best covenant last I checked was Night Fae which is weird, Shaman had completely opposite bests for Elemental and enhance. Rogues had all the covenants best as different points. Why don't they just make them like an extra talent row.
      These borrowed power system have gotten old. World Quests are boring as hell but if you're on a budget and pay for the game with WoW tokens like I did you kind of have to do them or at least the callings for the free gold, and that's on top of any other farming to make or save gold. It starts to feel like a job that pays $15 a month in game time. It almost feels like a mobile game at times with the daily quests and the great vault being like a gacha mechanic that you pay for with time.
      Mythic Plus is a personal gripe. In legion it was kinda of meh, and BFA I tolerated doing one max key a week, but now I'm just done with them.
      There's other things that led me to leave the game also. like my growing distaste for Actiblizz, and some personal reasons.
      Or maybe I've just grown different tastes. The game just isn't worth the time for me anymore.

      I'm a night elf main as well. I loved that the BFA storyline brought back the warrior side of our folks (since I feel like public perception of night elves has been the hippie druids), and the Teldrassil mission made me feel very sad (even though it was very well done). • @sophiejones7727
      @sophiejones7727 3 года назад

      Why does everyone think Sylvanas will face no consequences? Because Keerigan didn’t? That’s a completely different franchise! Starcraft can have black and gray morality. Starcraft can have bad guys face zero consequences. I mean nobody has clean hands by the end of Starcraft III. Just who exactly had the moral authority to prosecute Kerrigan? Starcraft is sci-fi. It can be more realistic. It’s supposedly set in the real world, in the distant future but still. Bad guys don’t always face consequences in the real world. But in WoW, they must, because WoW is high fantasy. People exist who absolutely have the moral authority, and the power, to prosecute Sylvanas: even if we can’t or won’t. Her sisters, for starters. And when has a character in WoW ever faced *no* consequences whatsoever for their actions? Obviously you can debate whether certain punishments were sufficient, but that is a different discussion.
      Oh and also: did you somehow miss the part where X’era got sploded? Why does everyone think she was meant to be some paragon of goodness? It should have been obvious something was not quite right after the Black Rook Hold flashback when she was all like “what would you have done differently?”
      Idk bitch, maybe asked first? Like “hey, I know of a spell that can kill all these demons but I’m gonna need to drain all your power to cast it”. I mean idk, but if I was a Moonguard member and Illidan said that to me I’d have been like “yeah, sure, go ahead”. It’s not like they were under any illusions about the odds: they came there to die anyways. What those Moon Guard mages were hoping for was that their deaths would have an impact. And you can accuse Illidan of many things, but not of wasting power. If I let Illidan drain me, I’d know that he would make every last bit of my power count. That’s good enough for me. All he needed to do was ask. Just like with the Draenei spirits in Auchindoun. Akama is a shaman, he can talk to spirits. The spirits in question were Draenei. How many of them would honestly have refused to give up their afterlife for the Legion’s defeat? Illidan was opening a portal to acquire the Sargerite keystone which would allow him to take the fight to Antorus directly. And the Illidari+the Army of the Light could totally have taken on Antorus. Basically the entire Legion expansion happened because Illidan was a massive douche for no reason.

    • @stormstrider1990
      @stormstrider1990 3 года назад +3

      @@sophiejones7727 The Illidan flashback quests have plenty of details that don't match the lore, which actually got many fans of the War of the Ancients trilogy confused. Like how upset Illidan was when Cenarius would no longer teach druidism, when in reality he didn't care. Or how Broxigar was honored to fight beside him, when he was actually pissed at Illidan for burning his hands. Those visions were clearly altered by Xe'ra to make Illidan look more sympathetic to us heroes. Xe'ra believed Illidan was the the "Child of Light and Shadow", and that she could convert him to the Light. She was obviously mistaken, like with many other things.
      As for Sylvanas, I'm sure this fear many have that she will turn out to be the true hero all along and face no consequences for her action, is because of all the fanboys who believe their queen can do no wrong, and tinfoil hats like Accolonn and Pyromancer who believe the good guys are actually the bad guys and vice- versa. The fact that Steve Danuser himself, the guys who's in charge of the narrative, loves the Banshee Queen, has also got many people worried. I'm slightly worried too, but I'm mostly sure they would never go as far as to justify Sylvanas' actions just to please one part of the lore community. Sylvanas will face the consequences, one way or another.

      I imagine in my mind... a scenario in which some entity tries to scold us for hating Sylvanas, and while it's half way through a sentence Tyrande or Bolvar just one-shots it and says "screw you we're still killing her". "He cheated on the Mak'gora"
    this bothers me a lot, he used the power of the elements a power well respected among the orc clans and people still say he "Cheated"? in a Mak'gora you fight to the death with what you got in the moment of the fight that is the actual rules.
    the element are his powers, a part of himself and not to mention he was already fighting Garrosh with it from the very beginning (did you not notice the thundering clouds from the start?).
    Thrall didn't cheat Garrosh just underestimated his enemy and picked a fight with the wrong person, another thing to note is that there is literally NO RULE against the used of elemental powers in a Mak'gora.
    do you know why Gul'dan in the movie was consider a cheater when he used fel magic against Durutan? Fel magic is not a power recognize or respected among the Orc clans in fact it is consider a disgusting dishonorable outside power.
    do you know why Saurfan using the blade of his enemy for fight with Silvanas in a mak'gora wasn't considered a cheat too? Varian's sword is a true warriors sword and Saurfan wasn't just representing the horde in that fight he was representing Azeroth, azeroth's true strength wish is the alliance and the horde.

By that metric, could other powers become part of the culture and eventually be accepted in use during a Mak'gora?

      Using magic, all kinds of it is forbidden in Mak'gora. That was cheating.
      Gul'dan was considered cheater because he used the god damn magic and so did Thrall. Do you honestly believe an average Orc - obviously a fighter of flesh and blood - can tell you a difference between Frost Magic, Fire Magic, Arcane Magic, Void Magic, Fel Magic, Elements Magic and so on, whatever? LMAO :D
      Dude stop making up your own stories to justify something that a character you like did wrong. He cheated, period. Does that make him bad? Absolutely not. The 1 thing everyone misses is that Thrall was raised by humans, he wasnt teached the Orc ways of life since his birth and thats a difference.
      All i mean is that, i think we can all agree that he cheated and that was a scummy move from Orc-perspective but given the circumstances, we can forgive him :P

    It makes absolutely NO sense at all whatsoever that Elune is the Winter Queen's sister! Because Eonar should be the Winter Queen's sister and it would make the most sense that she would be the Winter Queens sister as opposed to Elune being the Winter Queen's sister, Because if Eonar the LIFE-BINDER is considered her sister. Then wouldn't it make sense for her As the Titan of life she basically would be the Winter Queen’s living world counterpart right ? 🤔 Lets discuss why it makes more sense for Eonar to be the Winter Queens sister instead of Elune:
    1: Elune is seen to grant powers of light, arcane, shadow (to the night warriors) and to be fair, has connections to wild gods and life as well but she is a quite versatile deity… nothing about Elune contrasts the winter queen as her summer counterpart.
    2: Elune is depicted as a true deity above the titans and eternal ones, she wouldn’t be on the level of the Winter Queen, if anything Elune could be a mother to the winter queen and her sister as a First One (as some theorize)
    3: Elune’s doesn’t have a connection to Ysera or the dragonflights other than cleansing her from the Nightmare and delivering her to a wildseed in Ardenweald, Elune’s cleansing power isn’t something attributed to the emerald dream but is of her LIGHT (as proven by the Flynn/Shaw short story where her holy waters purges a corrupted artifact at a moonwell)
    4: Chronicle said that Freya BESEECHED (asked) Eonar to empower the two sisters Ysera and Alexstrazsa after they proved they could be defenders of Azeroth after defeating Galakrond. Eonar gave a piece of her essence to Ysera and Alexstrazsa to make them aspects, Eonar BOUND Ysera to the dream and gave her and Alex their specific tasks… making more sense for Ysera to be Eonar / Life’s pet than Elune.
    5: The reason why people think it is Elune is because of Legion’s Val’sharah, but think of it this way: If we fought Ysera in westfall and not the temple of Elune, and she was killed by farmer joe and not Tyrande, would Elune still cleanse and deliver her to Ardenweald? It’s nothing confirmed but puts things into perspective.
    6: Elune does share a connection with Ysera in terms of Cenarius and Malorne and such, I see that more of an Elune being a motherly deity to the night elves and the druidic path they set for their race.
    Conclusion: Elune has always been attributed to a goddess of Light, and some magic which calls upon her seems to be Arcane and more recently we find out she has been granting shadow powers to night warriors since at least pre-war of the ancients… the sister contrast isn't there with the Winter Queen and the most plausible connection is Elune is a First One, a higher deity.
    Bonus: Winter Queen seems to have a bad past or negative relationship with her sister, Elune is an aloof goddess who is never personified with emotions and just doesn’t seem on the same level of these death/order panthons, where Eonar is more ““finite”” (i say vaguely) in the sense that she is a more humanized deity that we can see and have interacted with and have more concrete and stronger connections to Ysera (as mentioned, Ysera has a piece of Eonar’s essence in her)

    I've seen many things that say that sylvanas is alive but here's what nobody has mentioned, Uther's soul fragment looks like the shard zoval shot at her at the end of the raid, she gained her soul completely was resurrected and then died from mortal wounds gained either by us or everything she has been through, she was killed because of zoval "repaying" her

    I love the fact that at least Blizzard seems to recognize that some important characters didn't have a true ending and they are trying to give us that, also that they are trying to reveal some secrets we always wondered but didn't think they would give us some answers. It's very refreshing to see that.

    Honestly I hate Sylvanas but a potential revelation that she died a hero and everything she did after being raised was specifically not her own will and only continued to cause her pain and suffering is a pretty solid story element. We could even have her basically reverted to a time before she was a banshee and she could end up helping us to stop the jailer after being betrayed.

    Story-wise I always was interested enough and entertained enough in wow. Those usually aren't the twist-filled awesome stunning stories I wish they were, but let's be honest, it's an MMO, how thrilling can you truly make a story in those. What I fear more in shadowlands future are blizz-typical systems upon systems and dragging out stuff fans were crying out for over a year: bringing back tier sets and some interesting loot here and there. (like the sylvanas bow that I'm quite happy about even though I don't even play hunter)

Such is often the fate of those who channel Elune's unmitigated fury. The power of the goddess still flows through me, but no longer does it threaten to tear me asunder. I cannot say how I will wield it in the future... only that I must do so for the good of my people".

    1. Anduin is gonna be locked away when he's not useful to the jailer.
    2. The Jailer sees Anduin as important and would want to keep him in essentially supermax prison.
    3. Where else would he keep Arthas's stinky old soul?
    Now here's the twist, what's the most Anduin thing Anduin can do? Anduin is gonna finally have a face to face with the person who's been haunting him since Pandaria and he's gonna try to save him. Anduin will probably realize that this is his one chance to prove he's different by saving Arthas and he'll do it by showing Arthas the person he could've been if things were different. Hopefully this inspires Arthas to do something herioc and become our Vegeta to our Anduin Goku.
    Edit: Had this idea when I watched bellular's video a few days ago. The last sentence is mostly a joke but I think Anduin could really inspire Arthas into at least trying to atone in Revendreth.

    I mean, I wish the Kyrian reconciliation arch was a surprise, but then again Blizz has had a transmog "of the Harmonious" set (or some similar name) on their vendors since launch.
    What I'm hoping about all those souls left to suffer in Torgast is that there is no point to rescue them since the Arbiter is still out of commission. Hopefully, though, there will be a story beat at the end of the expansion where they are all rescued, because otherwise that is a really, really, really shit ways to treat all those characters.

    I like the pacing of the story... as long as the story's pace didn't out pace the patch that we're in. It feels like months since I had a quest of lore to experience and that is after I finished all the covenants and went on the quests Bolvar felt like he needed to send me on. I'm getting bored, but it's given me enough time to do the covenant quest lines 2 more times over 8 alts... making a full 3 completed stories of each covenant. I need this 9.1 patch released NOW.

    has every1 else forgot that we were all obsessed with why the arbiter broke in the first place?! this never got resolved... Maybe when uther dropped a massively powerful soul (arthus) into the maw bypassing the arbiter this is what caused her to fail? (i say her, but really making a computer look like a female doesnt make it a female does it. she is definitely a machine right?) but yeah, maybe this is what broker her. i mean broke her. that has definite other connotations.
