I have no idea how to site a video game, so I’ll try like a movie:
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. Bethesda Softworks; 2011.
the nordic ruin carvings actually do have some meaning behind them each god in the old nordic pantheon was depicted as a different animal and the claw doors can reflect this for example in bleak falls barrow once you solve the door all icons switch to owls representing the god of knowledge because that’s where you find the dragon stone (archive of dragon burials) and any ruin with a dragon priest in has the icons switched to dragons to show there affiliation with the cult
Shor the fox
Juhnal the owl
Tsun the bear
Kyne the hawk
Dibella the moth
Mara the wolf
Stuhn the whale
Alduin the dragon
@@A9hl6fgx5ebisb72opOrkey the Snake
Same with the murals on the walls. Each mural is a priest of a different god, as can be seen with the Dragon mural, which shows a dragon priest with a dragon head above. The other murals show an animal head (a god) with a priest or priestess beneath, in the center of the image.
@@A9hl6fgx5ebisb72opwho’s the snake?
The dragon language was designed by Adam Adamowicz, who sadly passed away in 2012.
You give off the perfect "random homeless guy shows me around town" vibe. 10/10
"Spare a coin or two for an old man?"
3:08 Clearly Mike Wazowski holding 2 pistols
Holy shit it is
Best I could tell the dwarves look like there inspiration came from ancient Babylon
Their sorry
"Honor to you, my thane"
"Oh don't mind him, that's just my wife's boyfriend"🤣
Those aren't eagles, they're hawks, and they represent Kyne, the goddess of the sky, nature, and the Thu'um. She was the Mother Goddess of the Nord religion before the imperial cult took over, and was considered the ancestor of humanity.
You really need to dive deeper in TES lore to understand at least half of what you hypotisized off. It's not hate comment, but research goes both ways for real and fictional story, to understand what derived from where and really is this even the case?
Hypothesized?
@@tinyguy1015new word just dropped
Hypnotized by Biggie Smalls is now canon in the Elder Scrolls.
exactly lmao, what is even the point of doing a video like this if you just dont know what youre talking about on any level? ust pointless haha
i'd say there's at least some symbolism in the heraldry for a lot of the holds;
the wolf of solitude reminds you of the Wolf Queen Potema,
the bear for windhelm reminds you of ulfric 'the bear of markarth' and gives some more interest to the stormcloaks
the horse of whiterun at least sort of hints at the plains and gives a rohirrim vibe which i'd imagine was intentional, similar with the stag of falkreath just giving the player an idea of what the area probably looks like before going there (lush woodland, hunting ground, that sort of thing)
and the crown of winterhold is probably a reference to how the High Kings used to rule from winterhold (iirc) before it's gradual decline and then obviously the collapse where most of the city fell into the sea
the other ones though i'd agree are sort of just general symbols for characterising the holds a bit and distinguishing guards and the like
I love the comment section just being dedicated to proving how little this video explains.
@@d-pod_L Bunch of nerds.
@@d-pod_L We dont know everything. To pretend we do is to undermind the mysteries the lore has to offer. Things are up to interpretation. As countless times through out the ages in the series, have shown unreliable narrators and narratives.
I just came to the comment section looking for Boondocks Saints fans. Lol

1:47 DECEASED ACTUALLY, fucking laughing my ass off at this. I don't know why, just Argis jumpscare and then being described as that was a one-two punch that killed me.
There is an enchanting aspect to the low quality recording and constant glancing at the script. I am here for it.
you forgot the college of winterhold symbol
it looks like a mix of an inverted pentagram with horus's eye
3:07 is hermaeus mora
Ah yes, the Egyptians disappeared. Egypt definitely doesn't exist anymore, and the people there now have all moved in after everybody else just vanished without a trace.
I find it awesome that people who are into symbology, paleontology, herbology, etc can easily find alot of enjoyment playing skyrim since the game has so much attention to detail behind its design and creatures.
Sorry, Dwemer were inspired/ based on mayan/ ancient sumeric cultures, their symbolism and architecture. Imo they do not resemble egyptian hieroglyphics at all.
You are forgetting many races of the Elder Scrolls were inspired by multiple backgrounds. Not just one.
"You know what else is cool?"
Expected: "Today's sponsor"
Reality: "Skyrim"
Me: Kudos
This video gives me “Any Austin” vibes
I think it might be strategically intentional.
@@John7Wirth i think this too
I love my algorithm for bringing me this. Thank you for the insights. I know the tone of the video is somewhat joke-y but you made me dig more into Scandinavian architecture. It's always great to see people poring over the details that most would've overlooked.
EDIT: 11:28 Nice.
really surprised about the keystones because i've never noticed those in thousands of hours of playtime. neat vid
any austin has inspired the best style of content there is
This is a great idea. Content like this also encourages game devs to be more cryptic and non-verbal.
The one in solitude is the taurus symbol
14:55 Samuel L. Jackson wanted a purple lightsaber because he wanted to recognize himself in a big fight scene.
This is a nice video, but I think you're missing the part where Skyrim belongs in its own universe, like many of the comments below mention, the meaning of some things in Skyrim can be found in the lore of the game itself.
To me the carvings on the walls in markarth symbolize bethesda's creative bankruptcy where they looked at lotr's erebor and said "let's just do that"
The fucking bullshit people say about Bethesda nowdays is insane lmao what the fuck is this
Honestly, Whiterun feels more like an Anglo Saxon town, pre-christianity of course, especially when you see those horses, symbolising Hengist and Horsa.
53 subs, damn RUclips served me up something HOT and FRESH
I'd watch some Symbolic World if I were you and really liked symbolism, cuz its actually MUCH deeper than you'd guess.
Not gonna lia, I clicked on this thinking this was an Any Austin video. Stayed nonetheless xD
He had us on the first half, ngl.
This video was really great, brother. I hope you keep making stuff like this. Always express your creativity. Good shit. Have a nice day.
4k footage of the game but potato cam greenscreen quality is a resonant juxtaposition. Never change. 👍
Yo you’re kinda funny in the most chill way 💀
Wtf is Symbology?
The word is sssssssyyyymmmmmmbbbbbolisssssm
(Boondock Saints: Willam Dafoe)
symbology?
WHATS THE SYMBOLISM....
THE SYMBOLISM....
1:04 Windhelm, Falkreath, Whiterun and Solitudes emblems all represent the old Nordic pantheon.
Old Nords would worship animals, the head of their pantheon being dragons which I would like to imagine that if Labyrinthian still stood as a hold it would have a dragon emblem. It’s a shame that they didn’t give Winterhold an animal emblem because that city does date back to ancient Nordic times.
Great video!
The keystone symbol resembles the astrological symbol for Taurus.
No hate on the video but I am going to be that guy rn, markarth was made by mer. Dwemer at elves hence the mer in their name
3:10 on second look for me that looks like Hermaeus Mora and how he was shown in previous games.
This seems like a cool video. Right off the bat I’d like to mention that the animal symbols for the Nordic puzzles in dungeons represent each other the Nordic gods represented in a totem form. For example the whale represents Stuhn or Stendarr in the Imperial language.
100% confirmed. The dwemer didn't disappear due to the heart of lorkahn or anything like that. They were shut down by the deadric god of health and safety, then had to move out of nirn.
Side note. Just saw this is your first video to gain some real traction. Good job man, keep it up👍 I genuinely did learn a few things from this video.
This is brilliantl! Medal 🥇
I've heard the Dwemer be described as vaguely middle eastern, so you're not too far off.
i like this new genre of people greenscreening themselves over games i like and talking a lot. i hope to see more from u in the future
Opening the Game:
A Dragon frees you from your chains, the same Dragon you fight at the end of the game. This Dragon, is the Dragon of "End Times" a juxtaposition of the Time Dragon.
These two dragons are the same.
These two dragons go by the names, in the real world, of YHWH and TIAMAT. One and the same.
Also, the core cannon lore to the game is the Hermetic Great work.
All Akaviri sctructures look like that. It wasnt the Blades decision to build it like that. It still makes sense in Akavir though, as it is the dragons land.
Wow bro your videos are fantastic. I went and watched your NHL and candle video after this one. You are really entertaining.
Kyne is represented by eagles
Also worth keeping in mind that the town of whiteruns oldest building is the companions building. So the surrounding buildings may be stylized after it
In Skyrim there are some Falmer huts, one of them in Arkngthamz that have Chaurus limbs on the floor in a weird way. They look like someone placed them to spell something. So far no one has an answer other than it's just random. I always wondered if it meant something more.
Actually a really good video keep it goin man

actually the Etruscans invented keystones, not the Romans.
Hi nice video, I find interesting delving into Skyrim and look into a variety of details of the environment, and getting deep into immersion, would be great you could make a serie of video of your gameplay adding that 'layer' of environment analysis, best regards
Found a discount Any Austin 😆. I just goofing around nice video, keep plugging away.
I like your vids man, I know there's a lot to cover in this game but more analyses would be very cool 👍🏻
How do you only have 19 subscribers???
cause youtube hates small creators
@@allaltitudeproductions454 The rest of his content ins't really relevant to anyone and he doens't have much of it to begin with. RUclips doens't hate small creators, I wouldn't be here it the algorithm didn't take me here.

You do not have to have a take on something you dont know about

Anyone can, if you are turned off by that notion. Maybe you should quit the TES community alltogether. Maybe go into a new venture like the History Channel or like National Geographic. I also see you are not a fan of the Mythbusters.
@@ItzJustSoapy You two are so absurdly triggered when I didnt even say what he should do, only "you do not have to". The dungeon tunes are probably the best thing about Skyrim there are too many in my opinion and I'm pretty sure a lot of other players as well they are unique in a bunch of ways.

Any interest in a follow up?
Not many fans have tackled the mysterious bird structure of the Skyforge.

I'm so sorry you spent at least the time it takes to get a bachelor's degree in Bozeman.
I don't know where the theory of Talos killing Orkey in tbe statue comes from, but he symbolically defeated the Akaviri Potentate, shapeshifters who could turn into snakes who ruled the Empire after the fall of the Reman dynasty, being assassinated but not replaced until Tiber Septim. The logo of ESO being three serpents devouring each other also indicates that the Interregnum was considered a time of "snakes," regardless of the fact that the Potentate was already deceased. Tiber also supposedly used his godhood to simultaneously (and retroactively, because Daggerfall's ending involves time travel and retroactively enabled Talos to become a god, which is why dragons are gone and Talos is a god only starting with Morrowind!) kill all the dragons except a few, and he tricked and defeated his former allies Wulfharth and Arctus, at least one of which was a Shezarrine (the "shed skins" of Lorkhan/Shor, the serpent god) and at least one was a Dragonborn (dragons are also snakelike). Talos himself is an incarnation of Shor, though Tiber might not have been Shezarrine (rather, all three became Talos, and Arctus was definitely Shezarrine); Therefore, we could also theorize that the snake is Arctus and/or Wulfharth, and the warrior is Tiber Septim, and _both are Talos._
The snake being Orkey is unlikely, not in the least because Orkey is not, to my knowledge, ever portrayed as a serpent. For my money the most likely explanation is that to the public the snake is the Potentate, and the esoteric "true" meaning is that the snake is part of Talos.
I'd love to know what someone like Jonathan Pageau would make of your video.
Thanks for the great analysis. This is awesome
pretty swag video
Are you trolling with this video or heir to the throne of the bonehead crown?
I'm sure the word you were looking for there was "symbolism."
😂
3:09 it is a cartoon mudcrub
Idk why there is so much criticism. You seem like a down-to-Earth person and you manage to explain symbolism, and examples we see of it in game, without coming off as pretentious.
While I appreciate your humble demeanor, you might get better feedback from the discord/reddit/wiki-addicted crowd if you acted more like a pathological narcissist... y'know, a personality type that these critics in the comments can actually relate to.
Markarth wasn’t built by either men or mer.
☝️☝️ Actually…

Aight, Imma leave.
1:57 "Markarth - is the only city what wasn't built by men or mer". Bro what?
Upd: i think i misunderstood the "still live today" phrase, is it was dedicated to the city or to the races?
The Dwemer disappeared, leaving Dwarven architecture all along The Reach, The Pale and so on. They're not even a playable race. They're gone. Lol
So to answer your question, it was towards the architects. Markarth is the only city that wasn't built by man or mer that are still alive today. His pause was weird though when he was explaining so I understand the confusion.
Yeah, I realized that was very poor wording when I was editing this

Can we please stop the trend of people buying mounted microphones just so they can unmount it and hold it in their hand. Seems like everyone’s copying that one guy who did it first. Be original for once
No one owns the right to holding mics here. That honor only goes to Stonebwoy and he isnt a RUclipsr by a main section.
If you like symbology you absolutely need to read Quran and learn about Islam. It's polar opposite to any kind of symbology it's all about disconnecting from any kind of worldly symbols and it explain so well why people warship symbols in a religious and non religious ways.
