Sam nearly out shines Patrick here. And this was in the middle of Patrick's heart-throb hey-day. But they had to kill Sam off just to allow Patrick to shine here. 😂 I do think this movie was when I fell in love with Sam... It was the first time the thought of a much older man didn't make me sick. 😂

The remake wasn’t bad. Jake Gyllenhaal did good with the new Dalton. Plus a roid-raging psychopathic Connor McGregor was a good fit for Dalton’s dry humor. The original will always been the bar setter, but I give the new one props.

I'm glad he got to live a pretty full life, I'm not sure his age at death but I think he made it mid 70's give or take. I met him in at Ft. Hunter Ligget, California, while he was filming, "We were soldiers." My unit had completed training and we were at the bar for our graduation party. Sam was in the bar too with some movie folks, having a beer and had 3 beautiful women clinging to him while he was talking movie business. This guy has serious game without even trying. But what really stood out was that he graciously hung out with us, took pictures and stayed till midnight and elebrated the Army Birthday with us! A true gentleman and a class act!

I met him in at Ft. Hunter Ligget, California, while he was filming, "We were soldiers." My unit had completed training and we were at the bar for our graduation party. Sam was in the bar too with some movie folks, having a beer and had 3 beautiful women clinging to him while he was talking movie business. This guy has serious game without even trying. But what really stood out was that he graciously hung out with us, took pictures and stayed till midnight and elebrated the Army Birthday with us! A true gentleman and a class act!
