This should be induction for all night clubs and pubs. I have worked security for over 8 years and I swear by the advice of Dalton. Yes, I know its a movie but its surprisingly accurate. Remember, its not personal, its just a job. There have been plenty of occasions where just a nice word, a warning or even a look has the desired response. Obviously it helps that I am tall and big but being nice and not being aggressive has calmed down a lot of potentially violent situations. Vale Patrick Swayze
Depends on the situation you can nearly always tell when a situation can be de-escalated by being calm and restrained but most times being nice or kind is seen as weakness and just encourages them worked doors for 20 years myself before the sia shirt filler badge, warning or stern look can have the desired effect I also agree on the don't take the insults personally part

I'm watching this movie from time to time for this great feeling it can give. Its a great story, adventures in a specific set, chaotic and hard to live place dealing with hard to deal people. Excellent played. And it has everything - misuse of power, greed, lowlifes on one side and balance, passion and courage on the other. It feels like it teaching life lessons.
Be nice! Until it’s time not to be nice! I’ve taken this line into my work. I deal with criminals every day as a correctional officer. They never see it coming.
My pop was a CO and he said basically the same. He was always nice to the inmates. He was very direct, and always kept to his word, never raising his voice and treating the inmates with respect. To that point, he earned the respect of the inmates and they would police their own ranks when some new guy was getting out of hand. For example he might threaten to remove privileges if certain behavior didn't improve, and the vet inmates would get after the new guys to get in line because 'this CO was one of the good ones' and he'll do what he says and will remove the privilege if the behavior continued.
Tells you how good actors and good filming can make you believe. Swayze was probably about 5'8" and 160 pounds yet he pulled off tough in more than a few movies. If you find the promotional picture of The Outsiders with all the guys, you'll see Swayze was standing on a log so he looked taller than he was.

@@Mustang1984 I wasn't aware of it until 8 or 9 years ago and when I watched I was like 😳
@@1985SJW Yea such a good movie :)
Such an awesome film. Still holds up today.
33 years old and this movie is still badass
I love these lines, "Being called a c*cksucker isn't personal?" "No, it's two nouns joined together to elicit a prescribed response."
The fight scenes in this movie are underrated… Great action!
They are realistic. You don't have idiots doing flips in the air and idiots bouncing back up after getting popped in the face.
@@TraumaER Realistic :D
Obviously you never seen a real life fight or any MMA bout.
@@plisskennn MMA is hardly realistic. They shake hands before every match LOL!
@@TraumaER Didn't Jimmy do a flip in the air after pole vaulting the stage?
"Nobody ever wins a fight"
I remember Patrick Swayze as Darry from the outsiders. He really does put on some of the best tough guy roles.
Was a Bouncer for 20 years in three states. You take the wisdom from this scene and you'll never go wrong.
Swayze was a stud in his day...Hard to believe he's been gone several years
Best movie ever.
"Exactly right." - Wade Garret.
Good to hear the opinion of someone who knows what it's really like.
Yup me 2. Doorman Training Video
I thought he would be bigger.
Agreed.
Awsome film. It encapsulated the whole of lifes battles in a microcosm whithout the cheese! One of the greatest actors of all time, sorely missed
Where did he go?
@@MichaelGiordano777 He passed away.
1989.. man, what a great year that was, this movie takes me right back to those times.
Rip terry funk
Patrick Suayze was one of most macho yet cool actors of all time
As well as Sam Elliott
@@roserollins9800 True. Now mostly we have idiots sporting a bearded exterior with muscles but feminine on the inside
Was not a fan of Patrick, but this film was excellent and he did a great job as Dalton. Respect were it is due and I give it to him for this film. I really enjoyed it immensely.
Couldn't possibly see anything like it made today which is a shame.
What about Point Break? He was excellent in that one too.
@@badactor3440 That movie really did not appeal to me. I think Keanu put me off. Cheers

@@Instagramletsallgetintoheaven Because Dalton is an educated and enlightened man, I think the meaning is more Stoic than that. You can't take it personal if you choose not to.
@@robtk3 I would say it's both then but you could be right!
Best movie EVER!!!! I never get tired of it - no really, I could watch this movie and Patrick Swayze’s outstanding performance everyday. Because of it, he is the epitome of coolness.
Patrick Swayze had that one look on his face that nobody else seemed to have it was different!! Such a great actor 👏
I'm an administrative supervisor and I live by these words in my job and told other supervisors this is the greatest example of managing the expectation of your employees!! They laughed, but then they said you know what, you're right!! I tell my employees "it's just a job...nothing personal...you watch my back and I advocate for you, you make me look good, I make you look good!!
Burger King or Wendy's?
@@edwardschmitt5710 haha mines at the city dump if you like your job you swim with the alligators.
Patrick swayze has a swagger and a confidence about him. His presence is felt and most of all his movies
I never get tired of seeing the girl try to shoulder check Swayze as she leaves, but she bounces off him like a ping pong ball. :)
I always see this too
I only just noticed it now. Seen the film easily 4 times.
I watched this movie when I lived in Libya. What an amazing time and memories. Excellent movie.
I've watched this movie about 15 times and I still enjoy it. It's in my top 5 movies ever. This is one of my favorite scenes too.
Jeff Healey smiling at the barber college joke in the background lol!
Years ago, I was at a little Jazz Club call the Beat Niq in Calgary, in the basement of a restaurant called the Pick niq... you had to go in through the kitchen it was awesome. Anyway we're watching some average band, and all of a sudden the guys in the middle of singing a song and he points down into the front of the club and he says is that Jeff Healey? The bad completely stopped playing and had Jeff Healey come up, and Jeff did the craziest thing I've ever seen at a live show. He did a history of Jazz, going back 100 years, Dixieland, Hard Bebop, Acid, everything. And he did it by playing every single instrument they had, including the clarinet. Best live show I've ever seen.
Yep that’s a real young Jeff Healey , God speed to him. Saw him years ago in a small town club in Canada. Marvelous talent..👍🏽🙏🏽❤️🔥
It teaches you Stoic life lessons.
One of the all - time great team talks.
I thought that was Terry Funk. RIP.
Swayze and Terry together again.
Great movie.
"is she" kills me every time😂
Is she? 😂🤣 best line ever.
One of my fave movies. Swayze, gone but not forgotten.
R.I.P. Patrick Swayze, you'll always be a legend in my eyes man🥲✊
Words of wisdom from a man who could seal your fate... be nice.
Hard to believe that were he still alive he would be on the doorstep of 70.
Swayze was truly a hit maker! City of Joy is my all time favorite! Rip.
A simple fun action film!!! Great score by Michael Kamen!!!
Of course here to say RIP Funk. One of my favorite movies.

I hope this movie never gets remade. Masterpiece. RIP Swayze
Unfortunately it is starring Jake Gyllenhaal as the cooler.

One of the best movies ever made! Well executed.
one of the finest movie i have ever seen also deeply tells us about the life of bouncers and their duty..
I'd wear chain mail under clothes or body armor in that job!
Dude, you need to watch more movies. This one is OK but there are thousand that are MUCH better.
Gotta love Gary's face when his Momma is insulted!
Anything you need to tell me before taking anything out on somebody I used to know?
Tells you how good actors and good filming can make you believe. Swayze was probably about 5'8" and 160 pounds yet he pulled off tough in more than a few movies. If you find the promotional picture of The Outsiders with all the guys, you'll see Swayze was standing on a log so he looked taller than he was.
Road House is a bloody brilliant film. RIP Patrick Swayze🙏
God rest his soul 🙏🏻 beautiful person
One of the greatest movies ever. Patrick Swayze was the man.
Patrick and Terry Funk, R.I.P.
Great movie!!!

I was thinking more like WWE after watching Morgan bodyslam a guy into a table earlier.
@@drl5002 That's cause Morgan was played by real life pro wrestler Terry Funk.

It's like I’ve always said, Niceness is better than Not Niceness!
"It's my way or the highway" and.... "be nice, until it's not time to be nice". Swayze was the best.
* "...until it's time to not be nice."

My absolute favorite movie. Obviously I love Dalton but can we give Wade Garrett some credit? 🤣 they are both legends.
It took me years to realize that was Terry Funk, one of the toughest men alive at the time.
Loved him in the ring. He was also in Paradise Alley.
I decided to scroll through the comments, just to be sure. There is no mistaking Terry Funk.
The “just be nice” mantra of bouncing WORKS!
I bounced at various places in the NYC metro area in the early 2000’s and never had to throw a single punch. Yes I had to walk people out but generally, if I was able to get to someone in time, I could talk them down.
The Man, The Myth, The Legend. What a classic 👍👍
The real lesson everyone should take from this Shakespearian masterpiece, is that all problems can be resolved with sufficient application of kicking...

Theres something to be said about the simplicity of the story for the original. It just flows and allows moments to connect very easily. The new one -- it's just so unnecessarily convoluted and messy.
