Big run will likely become available in private matches at the end of the given life cycle we were given by Nintendo. This will mirror what happened at the end of splatoon 2's final fest and lifecycle. Splatfest would also become available at the end of 3's life cycle along with tricolor I bet
I'm honestly so surprised that increased drop rate of scales isn't a thing for big run. I played it non stop for like two weeks trying to get a slopsuit but only got one golden scale that entire time. I figured I'd go back to regular multiplayer and wait until big run because *surely* they'd increase the drop rate for that. if you're not super great at the game and you're in solo queue with people of your own skill level, big run doesn't offer much other than a novel experience that gets old kinda quick. even with the 1.2x catalogue bonus, it's still faster for me to level up my catalogue in turf war. even if I did get the golden trophy, I don't think I'd want to use it in my locker anyway because it's not really that cool
love the idea of every X number of eggs collected cumulatively by the community a reward for everyone gets unlocked. it plays into how salmon run is a co-op mode where we all gotta work together
i thought the trophy was neat at first, but then it ended up being 1/3 the size of a maxed out locker 😐 it makes it kind of impossible to even use... so really the only reward in the end was the badge lol
I'm surprised Big Run didn't change any rules. I thought there would be more waves or something wild like cohozuna showing up in normal rounds to further complicate things.
An awesome reward could be safer replicas of the grizzco weapons :O
They should make Grizzco replica stages, maybe lore wise it could work out as being a training stage in case of further invasions.
I think it would be cool to have an increased scale drop rate and multiplier, it would make it worth the time spent in big run. maybe double the chances for gold and silver, a 1.5x multiplier for copper and silver, and a 2x multiplier for gold.
I LOVE big run! The event has been really fun, but I hope they implement some changes to give it more long-term value. One thing I am concerned about is the current rewards. They said that if you don't get them this time, you can try again in a future big run. However, for those who manage to get the top rewards this time, it might make them less interested in playing another big run if the prizes are the same. Although, this might not be a huge problem if they add different statues for the future king salmonids or increase the number of scales you receive after beating cohozuna.
Also, I love the suggestion of community goals for big run!
I think there needs to be more rewards in general but I also think there should be more for the not a skilled players. Making it so the badge is exclusive to the top percentage makes me less likely to try and get it because I know I stand no chance.
Give us some banners or stuff. Some custom clothing. Something.
Agree with everything you said. Big Run should just be a mode, even if it's not active all the time.
It doesn’t really fit Splatoon, because it’s all about trying to be better on your own time. Big run was designed in such a way that the pros that have been doing it for years were always going to smash it while most people got nothing.
Community challenges would be perfect! I also want there to be individual challenges that earn some rewards
I realy would love if they make available all grizco weapons in the same run
I don't think that the only grizzco weapons thing is a good idea however I do think all of the grizzco weapons should've been available instead of just one
Along with the single shift High Score, it should also have a total High Score (one that adds the eggs you got through all shifts). For example 1-3 thousand for some special rewards.
Nah screw that, we don't even get snails. So reward bonuses should be endless especialy yellow capsules since you don't earn cash doing reguar shifts.
Right now I just want to know what the top 5% number is, I actually want the gold statue
If I could guess it is something about 150 (+/- 10). Your team may not be great but when you are lucky waves are extremely easy and making 110 is just not a lot of effort. But above of that you need to be good at salmon run. 150 you need to be good and pretty lucky.
@@MR-re9pq I don't know, splatoon has a lot of casuals that play so if 100k people play the top 5% is the top 5k people and I don't think there are 5000 overfishers out there.
In the datamine nintendo had a number of 102 which is too specific to be just picked so it must be based on some sort of data. I can think of two options for this:
A) its based on regular rotation egg numbers in salmon
B) its based on big run testers and nintendo employees
If the answer is A then I bet we won't see a top 5% over 120. If the answer is B then the number is basically meaningless.
I feel like everyone forgets that there are easily 20 children for every pro youtube salmon star that play salmon so the number probably won't be as high as people think. Don't forget we see higher numbers in youtube videos and on twitter because those with good scores are the main ones bragging.
But maybe that's just hopeful thinking because I only got 138 and even with over 10 hours of trying couldn't get more x.x
@@Katie-hj5eb congrats! Top 5% was 137.
@@phoenixmorphix yeah just barely got it
@@Katie-hj5eb These kids evolved to splat my ass out of nowhere. They learned how to ricochet or shoot trough walls. I love that game. RUclipsrs are great but these little humans are my real enemies.
I think the community at large has all been in favor of more and better rewards. The trophy is cool and all but Splatfest just gives way more for, I feel like, less effort. Getting snails would be a good start, I think.
It made me appreciate splatfests a lot more.
Exclusive slopsuits during big run seems like a no brainier, they do it for splatfest so why not here. The event is supposed to be an invasion so if not special weapons, why not special gear that can give random abilities you can work towards or something like that. Give players something to want and work towards that's specific to the weekend just like splatfest. Special rewards. Increased scale output is an obvious one everyone has pointed out. Exclusive stickers and locker items you can buy from the shop during the event. Anything!
The actual event was super fun, it was a blast to play on the map and I kind of want it to stay. It's the best time I've actually had on salmon run in the game so far. But it doesn't feel like an event with real rewards. It feels like it's just an exclusive map event and nothing else.
Also the Worldbuilding kinda sucks during a Big Run because all the normal maps DON'T have the correct skybox for a Big Run Event. IE Hammerhead and other Inkopolis stages look normal.
As you stated, since it's all of Grizzco working together, I think the challenges idea is really good! Its like how MMORPGS have big raids and such. I think focusing on getting a certain amount of Power Eggs, splatting a certain type of Boss Salmonind, Defeating a certain Night Time mode a certain amount of times, etc. could be some good challenge for the community to work together to get. Maybe the rewards could be some unique plastic figures/other decorations. Imagine if a reward was a Damp Socks Album and how many people would play to get it!
Every once in a while, they should make it so a balanced version of the grizco weapons release into the pvp as a reward for completing a big run
I like the community goal incentive. I would say that we should get rewards like cash, gear, and meal tickets without a cap but at a slower rate. We need special event only gear, badges, splash tags, and emotes. Things you earn by accomplishing things like pay grad 200 on eggsecutive or beating the the kaiju in under 2 min.
Imagine getting all grizzco weapons, plus all three spot in the map have egg baskets and the bosses will spawn in the areas. You will get 8 players and you can split up depending on the players choice. Then you will have certain quotas on each basket.
What about a new events by me is that when third wave was done and any players is about to leave, until Mr grizz spot some from the district it look like an inklings but when it look closer it was a salmonlings, and all of them are going to attack players with kitchen items and this is how them introduced themselves as a new events, they are like octolings ( enemy) when you splat them, they will drop golden eggs which their carry in their back.
So how to you think
Please no
Double Extra wave chance might be pretty interesting. Everyone having grizzco random weapons I think would just suck. I think it would have been nice if we got scales as a reward in addition to the decoration and make farming for that top 5% spot more worth it
honestly surprised big run wasnt the first all grizzco weapon shift
It's 2400 points rewards in 48 hours, so it's not even twice as much, since in normal rotations you have 1200 points rewards for every 40 hours instead of 48. We have been robbed!
I love salmon run but this is underwhelming. Very… underwhelming.
I actually thought that *maybe* the cohuzuna drops would be generous but nope it’s just the same ol’ salmon run on Wahoo. Splatfest has Sea Snails. Big Run has… a locker decoration???
Hi spam, this way where there is a lot of eggs and no one would come over and just going after other bosses
I personally disagree with your feeling that big run feels like normal salmon run. In salmon run your team will likely prioritize surviving over collecting eggs above quota. In big run, the opposite is true. People are willing to take greater risks and use specials liberally just to get a few eggs above their high score, which lead to more frantic gameplay that makes the mode feel very different to me going back to normal salmon run. Sure, it's just an incentive change, and its effects are somewhat subtle, but at least to me it does feel like an altogether different mode. Then again, I only played with randoms.
Anyway, for your other suggestions :
Refresh bonuses: definitely. I am so sick of getting gear.
Community goals: something i disliked about the game mode is that it goes against the philosophy of salmon run. Usually, salmon run functions by "there's no I in team." Everyone shares a quota, bonus, and scales. So it felt weird to me that big run took a more individualist, ranked style. So I definitely like the idea of community goals. Although, I'm not sure how easy this would be to set up. Let's take killing cohozuna. Let's say Nintendo expects with the current playerbase an appropriate challenge would be to kill n. But then theres a significant drop/increase in player base. Would they have to change the quota? How is reaching the milestone rewarded? Does someone who never killed a cohozuna get a participation trophy? Do you just need to kill one?
Fomo: most likely, after the last splatfest and big run, theyll add tricolor and big runs to private battles. I think that's why they did to splatfeat stages in 2.
Weapons: I think big run would be better with some change to gameplay, but I dont want it to be all grizzco. I personally like how you can only experience one grizzco weapon at a time. Personally, I'd rather add a second, in round objective which would help you collect eggs, like how the sprinkler helps you claim turf. I'm not sure how this would be done. Heres my potential rework
Rework: the smellometer is removed from the lobby. Instead, you are given an optional quota to trigger a king salmonoid. In the boss fight, the king will shed a second type of egg when damaged to some degree. The basket is kept around, but only to collect king eggs. The egg canon mechanic works as normal.
I'd also update the game so that it tells you the count of high scores current the reward markers every news broadcast.
In Big Run and regular salmon is to improve by adding an upgrade station just like in splatoon 2 campaign but with a little tweek.
Why can't we just use our own weaposn and gear in Big-run? It be cool to have mines or sprinkler in Bigrun for once
i think they should add a huge run where you go to a random multiplayer stage and the weapons are like the four golden question marks from splatoon 2
Maws got squished by big boy right there.
There should be 2 different counts for your high score that assimilate pro and regular matchmaking in regular splatfests. As a no friends individual too, keeping up with the top 5%(who are most likely playing with a coordinated team) is too hard with randoms. Then the top 5,20 and 50%s could be calculated by each mode independently. It is a realistic request, and it would make it incredibly more enjoyable.
honestly I like playing on the map, I don't need anything else since I love salmon run
almost all my rewards were....drink tickets :')
I think big runs will still go on even after Nintendo ends updates for the game but instead of new maps it'll just be on a cycle (I.e it starts from the first map released, wahoo world)
one change that I thnk would improve big run is the ability to let us choose our own weapons. Being able to choose the weapons would make it feel more like salmonid invading pvp rather than a new map.
That would be very boring imo
Nah. Beats the purpose
That's the big reason I decided not to play big run, it really deters casual players from giving it a try.
Bad idea. A major part of salmon run is the weapon rental system.
@@Peacheys2 how does it deter casuals?
I agree with everything in this. Great ideas that probably won't get implemented because Nintendo does whatever.
Im sorry but big run above profresh +3 is miserable to play. 34 quota and a tiny map that easily gets crowded…
You might want to consider that you need more practice then. Sorry but as a seasoned egg vp with multiple of the badges most vp players aren’t having issues with wahoo world and prefer it to some of the other SR maps…
@@buriedinbooks881 yeah I admit to having not much practice but is it really my fault that the weapons my teams get are just completely bad? Is it my fault that teamates kill bosses and especially goldies right when they spawn? Is it my fault that my team camps shoreline and kills every boss they see, making us unable to get quota? Also Ive had no problems with the other salmon run maps.
@@Echo-dd2mv Well get better and rank up
Big run absolutely sucked
Gold rotation ON STOCKEYE FEBRUARY NEXT YEAR PLS 🥲
