  • A group of aspiring Ironworkers came together for a one week apprenticeship training provided by Iron Workers Local 751, Anchorage, Alaska.

    Alaska Public Media and area businesses, educational institutions, and community service organizations are partnering in a workforce development initiative, called Alaska @ Work, focused on high-need jobs in Alaska that do not require four-year degrees. Through multimedia content and promotion, Alaska Public Media is amplifying the great work being done to help students, parents, educators, and businesses become aware of and connect with training, apprenticeships, resources and job searches to jump-start a career.

      Pretending is the last thing you should do. You should actually accept that you are crazy high off the ground and a simple mistake can end in injury or death. Once you've accepted that what you are doing is fucking crazy. It's easier to overcome. There is no pretending or illusion.

      @@SnD340Don’t be a high wire ironworker if you’re married with a wife and several young kids to feed and raise. It’s a great job for a single guy.
