Love the videos, as a steel detailer never get to see this part much. Learned steel detailing from my Dad and he always called the miscellaneous hanging around the perimeter the Ginger Bread :)

How do you rig up a Christmas tree?
I like to take all the chokers off the hooks when clearing the chimes and put them all on the bottom hook. Ya know... for the old guy down there.

How come you guys don't have bolt up or ground crew dress the iron in the clips?
I us to use pin lines instead of the beam clamps felt more safe well at least for me and only 1 or 2 bolts depending on the iron safe bolting for the bolt gang lol

@@ChantzFabz I went from doing union electrical work, to being stuck in a office... I remember the suck, but I still miss it. Mostly because of the comrades that I worked with. "Professionals" get butthurt if you bust balls too much, lol.

Why isn't the steel primed?
How do you know what side of clip the beam goes north or south or shaking hands. Is it written on the beam somewhere or does it even matter?

But
Most of the time the job is typical (the same every time) meaning they make north or south and the print shows you... but there might be a “target” on one side of the clip that shows you where to put it.... or the clip might be offset on a column tie...

Kinda confused about the apprenticeship timeline. So once you're accepted into the apprenticeship do they put you into classes and training first and then send you to the job site or do they just put your ass to work?
Every apprenticeship is different but local 29 has a 1 week orientation to teach you basic fundamentals! But up here 1 month out of the year (usually in winter cold rainy months) you go to school so you work for 11 months to go school for 1 every year for 4 years and then you take a jiw test
Yeah local 37 is once a year in April. For 3 years but if you get accepted you can be sponsored by a company right away and work as you’re going to school!

D 40 we usually always have a phone man but work was so good we couldn’t get one... I was the phone man at the beginning of the job but a connector drug up and no one was available

Maximum requirement for beam like that is a 3/8 anything above that is a slip hazard.. a large old worn-out oversized choker like that will not bite and grab.🤕🤕🤕
