Kelly thank you for your sharing your gift and helping us get the message out. Local 416 is fortunate to have you assisting us. Your work comes out better than we could've imagined- thank you very much!
Loved my trade and loved my Operating Engineers Local (49). Never worked a day in my life during my "working years" as a crane operator. Retired and tremendously enjoy these clips.
Good union jobs has structure, content, meaning and power in the form of economic and education. I'm retired fitter but I battled on picket line real wars late 70s and 80s. We're trading our health for that money. We need more money shore up our pension . I loved working union construction. My kids didn't have to worry about food, clothes and catholic schools so they decent education so they didn't have to do or work as hard as me. I fought for our jobs on picket lines. I love union construction workers.

You are only as strong as your membership. Go to your local union meetings, get involved and ask questions. I'm a 32 year #25 Detroit member enjoying my great ironworker retirement. I've fought with out of state scabs and went to many local protests and picket lines, and I always vote a straight democratic ticket because they don't actively try to bust my union every chance they get. Republicans are not a union mans friend...never!
Hey 👋 Northern Michigan here. I'm 42 and been living up here pretty much my whole life. And straight up...we were always taught up here by many adults that unions were bad...seriously! No joke. So for many years...(I know I'm not the only one) We live our lives with this on our minds. The third or so guys here says...with out the union we wouldn't have any leverage. That jumped out at me! So true! As an adult and having the ability to see thru political bullshit...I found out that (as with most things ) We were mislead. I work for a small poured wall company out of Petoskey Michigan. No construction unions up here. I think there is a car manufacturer in Boyne that is union. Without a union...we are definitely left out in the cold. The only one able to pay for hospital and able to take vacations is the boss. Literally. We have no one looking out for us. No health care. No pension. Literally no retirement outside of our own accord. Retirement is a unicorn nowadays anyway. Hard work just gets you more hard work and a used up body that these devils don't care about. I know know that a union isn't as bad as they have had us believing. Boooooooooooo! Shame on our teachers.
I’m trying to join the apprenticeship for Local 416. Every contractor I call tells me they’re not sponsoring anybody right now or they have no work. I’m getting frustrated.
How hard is it to get an apprenticeship in Orange county? Does it take a long time to start learning and working? What's the process and timeline like? Thanks
I just lost my job in April of this year, are they taking people in rite now? How can I go about getting a job like this I need to help my family. Thank you
Darald Earles Im a retired Union Boilermaker and for the most part a lot of guys try to buy Union and and made in USA years ago working 7-12s at a paper mill we would drink beer in the parking lot after our shift and a hand on the opposite shift had a truck made in Japan so every time we had to piss we would piss all over the door handles and tailgate latch on his truck
Ain't no iron worker/steelfixer picks up wire that's the builders laboures job lol..... Steely life is lifting tying cutting steel plan reading and building real strength
To tell you the truth idk what to think of this union thing anymore first I get people recommending me to join a union then I get a bunch of other people saying don’t join the union they’ll steal your money I just can’t make up my mind knowing that there’s two bunches of people telling not/to join like can something shine some light so I can either join or not join.
Ok here is some info: Union higher wages. Union Health Care. Union a pension plan. Union vacation pay. Union extreme emphasis on safety. Union dental care. Union - you are not thrown out like a piece of trash at the end of your career. Non Union - none of those. So you decide.
All those people who tell you not to join have more than likely never been in a union. I’ve worked both sides I joined the union at 25/26 years old. My only regret is not joining sooner.
Junior Ramirez depends what you do and where but they all pay really good, you’ll make more than a cop or firefighter or nurse, you’ll make from 70k-140k, I’m a electrician I make 50/hr making close to 100k and I live in Las Vegas it’s cheap as fuck here so yeah I’m living good and Union makes good money local 525
