During my visit to Tokyo last November, i noticed that the trains are a LOT more foreigner friendly. a lot of the signs have more english, japanese and chinese translation, the announcement on the train is a lot more detail for english speaker, and the layout of the station (in particular, the tokyo station), has been changed to cope with the crowd. What an amazing feat. I'm aiming to be there during the Olympics! 2020 can't come soon enough

How do the planners figure the transportation during the games? I have ridden the crowded trains - at midday. Tokyo is a wonderful city. By far the very best of the world capitals. Even so, that afternoon crush hour is brutal. Now, they are going to add large numbers more to the system. And likely close some traffic lanes for the exclusive use of the olympians. What is the plan? And what will be the response of the residents of Tokyo and the rest of the country? Will theybe try to carry on their lives ss usual? Join in the festivities? Or stay away in droves? Many questions.

My favorite mascot duo is definitely red-paws and leaf-head. The cutest, friendliest, and definitely the most uniquely Japanese being based on native animals and artistic traditions. They'd make for excellent plush souvenirs and yuru-chara mascots to pose with.

I liked the design by Zaha Hadid and wouldn’t have minded with that stadium, but really, they should have hired a local designer to start. I thought it was awful the way the handled it and I understand your feelings, but personally, l like Kengo Kuma’s design too and those politicians that have no spine - yeah, not so much like for them, most of the country felt the same way at the waste of money and time :(

Employment went up due to so much construrction. Many foreign workers had to be shipped in for it. The question is, "What will happen after 2020? Those jobs generated specifically for the Olympics will become redundant and maybe the foreign workers will be sent home (with new skills), but without employment prospects. Hope their saving money. Many tourists related venues will obviously experience a spike in sales, but again, it will dry up as the tourists leave. The government has already spent more than they budgeted for the prestigious event.
You forgot about the anime mascots that has been confirmed (I don't know how many people doesn't know about it). But would love to see an update this time next year to see the progress. 2020 is going to be a huge year for the world.
