@@End3rWi99in Until you taste it... Honestly, in Japan I learned the art of "Less is more". There are fewer ingredients put between the bread-it's basic bread...but each ingredient speaks so beautifully by itself-you don't want to over-complicate it with sauces and extra toppings. Convenience stores sandwiches in Japan are so good! Even if my flight was really late and 711 is the only thing open by the time I arrive, I still won't be disappointed.
In America, the convenience store sandwich is something to be feared! More likely to make you sick than think was delicious. In Japan, the sandwich as reached culinary heights. You might think "Oh it's just a sandwich, I'll make one at home" but you can't. You just can't replicate these sandwiches at home. Something about the soft Japanese milk bread and the flavor of Japanese Mayo with its rice vinegar creates a unique tanginess. Even something as simple as a ham and cheese has a whole new dimension. I wish i could run out and get one right now!

They have high rates of education because they are expected to go beyond (this is generally a common issue in Asia). I’ve been to Japan a few times, and I love the shops that sell sandwiches. The egg salad sandwiches are delicious. The bread is also amazing. I wish their type of bread, milk bread, was sold widely in the USA.
Everytime I used to go to Tokyo for work I always loved tasting different foods. Some of the sandwiches were really odd combinations but were tasteful just the same. Another must for any traveler is eating an entire meal from a vending meal. In the US it normally is stale, bland, or poor quality food items. Not so in Japan. You can get beer, saki, wine or hot tea to drink. Then almost anything else you want. All from a vending machine. I got a grilled ham an cheese sandwich that was actually grilled inside the machine. On one trip my host and I found a restaurant that was entirely vending machines. The odd and interesting thing was there were no employees working there. You bought your items, got a pair of chopsticks and sat down and ate. The place was very clean and even a western style pizza was really good. I tried a lot if different foods that afternoon.

Nosh Abroad I
Indeed! that is me!
Nosh Abroad agree. North american sandwiches are so bland. Even rice balls in smallest japanese convenience stores taste better.
In Japan, the competition is so hard because everything MUST be improved every day as a rule. After a few decades, the quality and the sophistication reach an insane level.
Carrie Li I think they have to make them bland. Two reasons.
A) The nicer and Spicer ingredients are expensive.
B) They are scared they might get sued for food allergies.
.......
And most "exotic" dishes are dumbed down for American pellets anyways. I know.. I went to a Filipino restaurant once and was disappointed. I'm a half blood Filipina myself. My mom's cooking is way better.
Gaaaaah I am jealous. I wish someone would make a restaurant here that sells these sandwiches. I would spend all my money eating there every day.
I envy the food quality in Japan. Even the convenience store food looks beautiful!
traveled to japan a month ago, can confirm sandwiches = best food in japan
Nah, ramen still #1
Lmao you went a month ago and therefore know from the limited time you stayed there that the sandwiches are the best food? In the whole country?
It's called an opinion guys. Calm down. Not everyone has to agree with you.

@@marissaburdock6550 Probably couldn't afford to eat anything else.
everything about Japan seems amazing
Its like china but the opposite
One of the best things about traveling is trying different food!
Tbh, I actually followed your guide when I went for 3days course in Osaka.I religiously followed both of your takes on Osaka, which features in both your channels. And I even went to dotonbori and tried crab brain which is once in a life time experience! I just want to say, thank you for being honest with your videos. It was pretty intense not having any guide but we managed as we actually shows your video to the local when asking for directions!
batman awesome thank you! It makes me so happy to hear you managed to get around okay and the videos were a help to you! I’m glad you had fun and could really enjoy your trip in Japan!
Mmmmm crab brain. Almost as good as slug eyes.
I've never had sandwiches remotely as fresh and delicious as Japan's packaged sandwiches. I don't know how they do it but the bread is soft and moist, and the sandwich itself is never dry.
Chemicals my dear chemicals
What’s the bread made of? It can’t be healthy.
@@moanaoneil7725
It was great to try a few times and I personally wouldn't eat it everyday, but they eat this stuff a lot for breakfast. Honestly, I'd say it's probably healthier than dunkin donuts and a lot of western breakfasts. It wasn't as sweet, but it was definitely creamier and lighter in flavor.
Eddie Roy mmmm, yummy 🤤
The Onigiri and sandwiches are fresh and are delivered to the stores in the morning.
I was in Tokyo couple months ago and I tried Katsu sandwich.
Amazing.. possibly the most addictive and super tasty.
I love your videos but man... it makes me really miss Japan so badly.
I want to go to Japan now
And take me Mr. Davidson.
I'm going next month ! I can't wait 😍😍
Ditto.
I'm in France....and in love with these sandwiches from heaven !!!
The best Egg Salad Sandwich I've ever had was from a vending machine in Japan. It was so delicious!
The best country in the world, no competition. I stayed in Tokyo for 9 months 15 years ago, it was my best time in 44 years of life, so far. I wish I could go and live there, but with a wife and 3 kids, seems impossible especially that making a living there if you don't know the language is something hard...

This is one of the things I not only found bizarre but totally awesome at the exact same time, all the sandwiches I purchased had zero crusts.

Even their sandwiches are so neat. So pristine. So precise. Clean edges etc...
I love the egg sandwiches from Japan. I miss Japan just a tad bit.
Does anyone feel like they need Peter Von Gromm to do live descriptions of when they unwrap and eat their next sandwich?
I think I need him to narrate my life! (ok...maybe just a couple of days worth... ;P )
He can narrate my next lunch.
Lol, Peter should do that for his next live stream. Sneak up behind random people on the street and start narrating the unwrapping of their lunch.
Sandwich eating ASMR
I'd rather have a good narrator, that doesn't vocally strain his voice trying to achieve a cheesy, fake "movie" or "decadence" voice. You know, someone who actually stays in their vocal range, knowing that they're not Vincent Price.
What a great narrator, and those sandwiches are beautiful
A sandwich, PLUS some ramen noodles. That would be a good lunch (or dinner).
This episode had all stars, nice, and yeah, I had to make my own sandwich now,
Stop wasting time in youtube Shinji and get in the fucking robot. When does your new movie come out ?
OMG I LOLed. How long have we been waiting for Eva 4.44!?

I'm not gonna get in the robot, it's stinks in there,
Love to hear Peter’s voice in your videos! Thank goodness I was eating breakfast while watching this otherwise I’d be staving at all the delicious looking sandwiches 🤤

The absolute best egg salad sandwich I have ever had was one I purchased in Narita Airport. I can still remember the wonderful taste and texture!
Had me drooling the whole time. The voice actor though 😂😂😂
Wow great sandwiches trust Japan to take it to the next level. Excessive packaging though

I love how there was a bunch of people just hanging out in front of the vending machines and that they have tables to use for you meals lol. We need these in the USA

You brought your lady friend a gourmet sandwich at a watering hole?
Your a scholar, and a gentlemen
It is especially funny that someone sprayed the word "fat" in the background of that watering hole. It might have been the word "eat".
I like them all,,
Plus some Melon pan for desert
s3xyScorp yes!! That would complete an amazing meal for me - MELONPAN (๑・̑◡・̑๑)
Why can't they have sandwiches this good in the Circle K, 7-11, Wawa, Cumby's chill case?
Wawa have some extraordinary subs though.... Especially at 2:54 in the morning
But WaWa is not bad 😭
Because a 3 oz. sandwich would cost $16.00 and would be moldy.
7/11 is amazing! I’m not sure what it’s like wherever you are, but in Japan I eat it all the time! It’s true convenience
Because America is not structured for food that depends on flavorful and fresh raw ingredients - we’re better at foods that need a LOT of ingredients and special preparation, in order to last longer.
Also, because we have SO MUCH SUGAR in everything.
Lucky people who were Born in Japan
I've been making sandwiches like this for years but instead of pork I use fried chicken patties and mayonnaise.
Ya, my hubby soulmate was born there
chasey1978 My grandmother used mayonnaise to get my head stuck between to polls when I was a kid. Now I HATE mayonnaise.
@Sue Burgess yaaa. homogeneous society, strict prisons and capital punishment, good socio-economics, high rates of education and low rates of poverty. When most of your population is happy, healthy and eating every day they arent out robbing or selling drugs.
@@EvanHT Don't sugar coat Japan's situation. I've been there and it is a lovely country and i would love to comeback. But we cannot close our eyes when it comes to their issues. "Happy everyday" is not entirely true, they still have suicide rate issues (now also with youth), the rising number of hikikomori ect.
They have high rates of education because they are expected to go beyond (this is generally a common issue in Asia). I am an Asian myself, South-East to be specific, and slowly our education system here is adopting the system of Japan or S.Korean, where students will go to school early morning, and go home later at late evening (even at night) thus creating more stress and pressure for the students
The Japanese people are so creative and so smart but best of all I love their culture this is the reason why I always wanted to go Japan 100% 🇯🇵
Honestly the best narration I’ve ever heard. 👏👏👏🥪

And yet not a single wrapping in the streets

Oh how I wish I live and work in Japan. 🙏

Even in sandwich making, the Japanese seek perfection. How can you not respect a culture like that? Thank you for the video. :)
Who knew Japan had sandwiches?! I didn't! They look really good,if I traveled there, it would probably the first thing I try there. I'm Italian and not used to Asian food so it would be a good starter for me,since I don't like 🍣 . But these look great! 😳 I admire Japanese culture, everything is so clean, and products are very precise and detailed.
When I went to Japan I was actually really excited to try some of their sandwiches. Turns out, it was too fluffy and sweet for me. It didn't taste right with all the savory foods. The fruit one was good, but I made the mistake of eating one for breakfast (it's like eating cake! lol)
beautiful packaging design and the art of food is love.
Peter knocked the voice over out of the ball park!!!
Bryan Wright he really did! Beyond what I expected and a real pleasure to edit in! The plug for excellent work: ruclips.net/channel/UCVxvUCGUwLrAwH9_3q5q00g you’ll hear more Peter!

I’ve been to Japan a few times, and I love the shops that sell sandwiches. The egg salad sandwiches are delicious. The bread is also amazing. I wish their type of bread, milk bread, was sold widely in the USA.
When you visit Japan on budget, you can sometimes have sandwiches instead of three meal courses
. It cut a lot of your eating expenses.
Except the sandwiches cost 16 Dollars..
I love those sandwiches. I got to try the fruit sandwich on my last trip to Japan and it was so good.
You make the best videos on RUclips. Would be really cool if you did a video what brought you to Japan.
