I loved how Hoyo dealt with the topic of depression, grief and acceptance. I cried so much at the end of this event 🥺
Yeah they did such an amazing job with this quest and the way they handled the topic was beautiful. I cried pretty hard at the end and even after I was done filming I was still misty eyed over it.

Wow even the fontaine events made me cry.. I cried for the archon quest, and now the events too... Even the unvoiced fontaine world quests are insanely well written. The improvement in genshin's story telling is amazing
If this quest is a tease of what is in store for me as I progress through the game I am excited and need to get some tissues lol. The writing, voice acting, use of music, all of it is so well done. Absolutely beautiful.
So a huge recurring motif in Genshin is that of fairytales. An example of this was of course Heart of Clear Springs. This is another example, but one with even more layers. The Thelxie story actually has a ton of parallels to the battlepass cutscene Gnostic Chorus. The prince that rises from darkness, the emphasis on pearls, etc. The Gnostic Chorus story itself may or may not be a parallel to the Traveler's journey. So yeah, a huge focus on the underlying dark fairytale themes.
But yes! This was another wonderful event. I feel like it started around the same time Star Rail released, but Genshin has also been getting the visual novel-esque CGs more and more often and I love that. This story was also a pretty great attempt at tackling mental illness using the game as a medium I think, so I feel like that makes it all the more special.
1:05:12 nice catch! There were a few hints here and there, like this or the fact that Freminet's camp had some of her medicine lying around, so even before the reveal there were things that hinted at Zuria's condition. It's a handful of cool details, and it really just makes it hit all the harder what she's going through.
It's also great that Freminet got his own event too. He was...unfortunately a bit lackluster in the main archon quest, so it's great that he got focus here. It was good to see him in his element.
That is so interesting! I really do like the dark fairytale themes that have been in the past few events, super cool. I do like the visual novel style as well. They did a great job with this quest, I really enjoyed it myself and really didn't expect that kind of emotion to pour from me at the end. It just shows how well done this game is. I do love Freminet, he is just so gentle and sweet! I am glad he got his time to shine...even though he may not actually have liked that lol

Cyno is a burst unit, which means you don't want to swap him before his burst ends, or you will lose energy :)
Yeah I accidentally switched him out a few times lol.
Its best to have an electro battery alongside Cyno to ensure 100% uptime and maintain the burst dps level

I sobbed during this quest and crying again rewatching this. I’m so glad you were able to participate in this quest!
I just realized watching this, the event reminds me of Rakuen-an indie game (available on steam) about a boy and his mom going on an adventure. Not sure if it’s something you’d be interested in, but throwing it out anyways. It’s very cute and wholesome, and is overall gentle, but I do have to warn people the ending is, well, emotional. But worth the journey.
I sobbed so much, I don't remember I sobbed in a Genshin event since the TCG event and the story of its creators 😢😭💔

@@K1ngBard I really recommend watching a full silent playthrough of the event stories, even if you don't react to them. They usually have some pretty great storytelling, and some of them are actually quite important to the story of the game. As someone who only joined the game in 3.4, going back and watching all the old event stories has really enhanced my experience of the game.

Use Xingqiu instead of Barbara his hydro application and his rain swords are way more valuable also he had a resistance to interruption, and he can heal a bit
and you can use Dendro traveler instead of collie when you get to sumeru's statue of the seven
or you could replace collie with Xingqiu for now because C4 kirara has enough of field Dendro application
Kirara's defensive abilities with Xingqiu's resistance and healing, you would be able to get away without healer :)

Yeah messing around with this team I still get interrupted during Cyno’s bursts so I will take your advice with Xingqui and I think I’m gonna bite the bullet and get dendro traveller. I just have to at this point especially now that I have Cyno. Thank you for the suggestions it definitely does help. 😊
Every event story in genshin is very unique in their own ways and facing sometimes real issues or expending ingame characters Background storys. Its really well worked and every event story is worth playing it its really a bummer that theres still no option for newer players to at least read and experience past event storys, Besides looking them up beeing played by others on yt.
I love the events that I have been able to play. I’m upset that I can’t experience the past events for myself. Maybe one day they will add a way to play through past events. I’m not even worried about rewards, I just want the story lol
The storys are the best rewards anyway theres so much work and detail into each of them, also..if you where able to play certains storys before others it even changes the dialog options in your gameplay its really amazing
Some people are saying that you should get dendro mc, but i think for now you will be totally fine without them so you dont need to rush to Sumeru. Also yeah, Barbara is not a very good option here. And you should give Kirara some hp artifacts so her shield becomes stronger. And another thing: Cyno needs more energy so he can use his burst more often so a good option would be to use another electro character like Fishl and some character can use favonius weapon. I think we get favonius bow at some point for free, so you can use Cyno, Fishl with favonius, Xingqiu and Kirara
Freminet has been through some stuff. If you listen to his voice lines after you get his character, you’ll get a sense of that. Great video though!
The way the music came in after she started humming the song...literally perfect timing. Definitely the saddest event in Genshin ever imo. Glad you were able to play it, though completely blind to Freminet as a character. Which i gotta say, he's so cute!! I love how he blushes when he's shy!

Don't forget to do event activities too, you'll find them in the event menu. You can claim a free Freminet by collecting special event points from these activities

You are right about Freminet being the perfect character for this. In a way we were also I think helping him as well by showing him that Lonliness Syndrome can be helped and you’re not alone. It was a super sweet and sad. I loved it. We can cry together haha 😭😭😭
YESSSS I've been waiting for this one! I don't know if all the events are this good, but this one and the last poetry one with Callirhoe were GREAT. Plus we get a little Thelxie for our teapots😇
This was such an amazing quest!!! I’ve only played the last two events and I feel lucky because they have been so amazing and pulled on my heartstrings this game continues to impress me and I still have to get him but I’m close!
Majority of Genshin flagship events are great in a story just like this one.. like the annual Lantern rite, every summer events, the moonchase festival and the windblume festival, dragonspine albedo events etc... but this one is unique and kinda newer when it comes to the topic of mental health and in my opinion the first event that gives tear jerking ending because almost all the event finished with really happy ending but this kinda left you with emotional damage.
@@JohnCivor Yeah I only recently started playing again after 2 years, and I've been very impressed with the depth these event stories have had. I was getting a little teary eyed with the Callirhoe story from the poetry event, and this next event took it to the next level!
I thought you weren't going to do it, taking into account your rule of not entering regions where the story hasn't reached yet
you could ease this rule a little in my opinion, you have an opportunity that many of us didn't have in our gameplays, to be able to explore different regions at will without an order, take advantage of this, the world quests of Inazuma, Sumeru and Fontaine are incredible and best of all is that you can start them all as soon as you finish the prologue
I wasn’t going to because of the rule but I was told it was a must play event and I am happy I broke my own rule because it was amazing you’re right, maybe I can be a little more lenient especially because I can get materials for Cyno lol.
@@K1ngBard and by the way, Dendro Traveler is a great support for Cyno in conjunction with Collei while you don't have Nahida or Baizhu
I recommend you go to Sumeru and unlock this version of him, with that you would have the necessary application for Cyno to aggravate
@@K1ngBardin my opinion its good if you sometimes break some rules if you do a flagship event especially if the events are on the places that you never step foot on.. because in my opinion the trade of experiencing the flagship events story is more important than spoiling you the newer area.. event in genshin sadly didn't comeback so experiencing it now while its still on going is a good trade off.
@@K1ngBard I agree with the comment above. These events are temporary and there is no opportunity to go through them later unfortunately. Therefore, if you want you must go through them and gain new experience for sure. Thank you for the video! It was a truly interesting and emotional event.
Another event story that reminded me again how much I love this game. I couldn't cry when I did this quest but whenever I watch genshin players doing this, I cry with them. I just don't want to cry alone 😭

Only about 3 minutes into this video and I want to mention this as someone who's done events in places before I get to them- it won't affect your game from a story perspective. Like I did the last Summer's event and met two chars I hadn't met in the story yet, (one from Inazuma and the other from Sumeru), and when I finally did meet them in the main story, the game pretended I never met them. I think the next major sub event is Lantern Rite (don't quote me on that), and it's always in Liyue, so I say don't skip out on that for sure. I am mad at myself for missing the last 2, I have NO plans on skipping it this time!

Usually you’d get engrossed in the story and ignore small faults but I just can’t.
That is Fontaine. There was a lot of overflow of hydro from the players eyes. You will get used to it in Fontaine.

I both played and watched Freminet's VA play the event, it was an interesting one as it touches on deep and complicated emotions. The only sad thing is it's a limited event that many will never get to experience it.
Edit: If you get lucky try to give Cyno artifacts focusing mainly on elemental mastery, you can equip a character with 3 artifacts that are Elem Mas focus at the same time, that alone gives a total of 561 (not counting any bonus Elem Mas that comes from party members, artifact side bonuses, weapons).
Also, Pyro characters are more affective with the dendro bloom things with multiple enemies around you because pyro+dendro explode them, Elector effect simply send them to specific characters randomly (sometimes one enemy might take all the hit from dentro+electro leaving the others untouched, it's best suited for a single opponent)
This one hit way too hard. I'm holding onto the cope that maybe he's fine since you can find shells he wrote on down in the ocean during the quest, because otherwise those shells being so far apart down there like that is way too sad

I was skipping dialogues during the first two acts of this quest because was too busy but that ending really got me but anyway if this made you cry wait for other quests in other region😢

I've noticed that a lot of characters exhibit symptoms of mental issues. Kokomi seems to have anxiety disorder, for example. Scaramouche... Well, he seems to have all 4 personality disorders from the Cluster B (histrionic, narcissistic, antisocial and borderline). Keep an eye out, and you'll notice them too.
A really shame limited time story events cannot be re-run, its VERY good. Like the chalk prince and the stars event, try to watch cutscenes back then especially for the events. You'll really love it.

Do you have artifacts? Your characters need them for their attacks, hp, crit rate, crit damage. There are artifacts for healing as well if you’re going to have Barbara as your healer.
4 star artifacts - max level is 16
5 star artifacts - max level is 20
3 star artifacts - max level is 12
If I were you Id switch Kirara for another Hydro.
One that can apply Hydro from off field.
Dont you have Xingqui? or am I mixing you up with someone else?
If you have Xingqui, you should use him.

He is one of THE best characters in the game (yes, including 5 stars), his rain swords deals massive damage and apply Hydro at fakking lightning speed and he ALSO provides pretty significant defence, lower risk of getting staggered and even heals you, he is a crazy good character.
His Rain Sword are also three sepaate hits meaning it bypasses the games standard ICD

if you do have him, you have a pretty decent Hyperbloom setup.
Personally I would level up Traveler and make him/her Dendro instead of Collei, she get the job done, if you prefer her thats not really an issue.
They funtion basically the same way in a Hyperbloom team. Traveler just have longer durations making rotations a bit smoother.
Hyperbloom is one of the strongest reactions there is and its one of the easier combinations to pull off.
As its done in stages, Hydro+Dendro makes Seeds, Seeds+Electro makes Hyperbloom, Its practically impossible to fakk up the reactions.
AND the Hyperbloom projectiles are homing, so you cant miss.
I know you got alot of Kirara constellations so I understand you wanna use her.
But truth to be told, shes not really that useful with your current lineup, constellations or not.
This, _naturally,_ is only advice.
Im not back seat gaming you or anything, you should play the game the exact way you wanna play it.
Its actually one of THE best things with Genshin. you can play the *objectively* wort team in the entire game and there will still be a way to beat the game.
Youre not limited by anything, you can do literally whatever you feel like and there will still be a way to make it work.
All Im telling you is that you have a decent roster for Hyperbloom and its a fun and effective reaction to play.
If you decide to heed or ignore this , thats 100% your choice.

** [ICD] = Internal Cool Down.
If you hit an enemy with an elemental attack you apply that element to the enemy, this is where reactions comes from.
If you hit it with a Pyro, you apply pyro to the enemy, if you then hit it with Hydro, you trigger the Pyro aura and the resault is *Vaporize.*
However, every character can only apply the same element once every 2.7 (I think) second due to the ICD.
If you do Pyro>Hydro>Pyro witin 2 seconds the second Pyro will NOT apply Pyro to the target.
However. there IS one caviat to this rule.
If the same element is applied more thn 3 times in less than 2.7 seconds, it bypasses the ICD and apply the element anyway.
This is what makes Xingqui so insanely powerful.
His Rain Swords (his burst) hangs three Hydro blade over whoever is on field, when they attack the 3 swords will attack simultaneously (4 swrods if you have Xingqui at constellation 6) and each sword counts as an individual attack.
This means literally every single attack your onfilder does will bypass the ICD and apply the Hydro auro to the enemy no matter ho fast your hitting them.
In short, You cant trigger reactions with literally EVERY SINGLE basic attack you do, as opposed to one reation ever 3 or 4 attaks as it would be otherwise.
Xingqui is absolutely PERFECT for a charater like Cyno who has elemental infused basic attacks.
Every single hit is Elector, with Xingqui, every single attakck is Electro AND Hydro at the same time. and it CAN trigger reactions with every hit.

I have switched up my party a bit since this event even though it hasn't been that long ago lol I keep messing around with party builds trying to find one that I like haha You're right about Kirara, I have her at a C5 and her abilities do not last long at all which sucks. I benched her lmao i appreciate all of the tips and tricks :)

It was a good event story imo, very sad thought. It’s events like this that make me wish newer players could play those past events too in some way. Again, watching them on yt is really the only option but I’d rather have that first hand experience playing them you know. It bums me out but I’m still hoping that they can revive them, just for that story and character lore alone.
I recognized Thelxie’s voice pattern, it was Moree Code and translated, it makes it so much sadder. People new to Hoyoverse games are probably sad but me, someone who knows how they are, I was expecting it. I’m currently doing Yae Miko’s story quest and I’m thinking that if there’s any place where this story could go, it’s Yae Publishing House, this story would definitely peak Miko’s interest
I can see that for sure. Knowing that they like sad twists and turns you already are preparing for a potential of what is to come. And that would be so sweet if this somehow ended up in a bookshop in the game that you can find.

I can’t help but giggle at how Freminet gave this event a trigger warning and said you could back out if you wanted.
Not a bad team comp. I’d switch out Barbara for Kuki Shinobu to make a proper Aggravate team, or try using Yaoyao for healing and slot in Fischl instead of Shinobu.
Freminet is in an…interesting position on the meta. The 5th hit of his special combo is all of the OP, but stacking the buffs in time is more than a little bit tricky.
Have you considered playing Honkai Star Rail? It’s more or less a Genshin in a hard science fiction setting. It’s also a whole lot more generous with its premium currency. Plus you get two free 5-stars just for playing.
Your rotations need work, but that’s slightly more advanced tactics that you’re not quite ready for yet. You’ll want to do three Bursts in a specific order with your current team: Kirara, Collei, and finally Cyno. Even then, Collei’s burst will end before Cyno’s, and you can’t switch out from Cyno’s burst without stopping it. The ideal partner for Cyno is Nahida, because she’s the only one who can keep the Dendro application active during the entirety of Cyno’s burst, and all it takes is a use of her skill. Since you’re shaping up to be a Cyno main, I would strongly recommend ignoring all future banners that aren’t Nahida. Plus, Nahida is an amazing character outside of Cyno teams as it is.

I thought I was getting Freminet's C1, but I actually got his C2 lol. It's because I haven't really built him either since I am focusing on others and I am strictly a F2P gamer so my resources are limited.

@@K1ngBard They do this from time to time. Before this, there was an event where they gave us Layla. (Guys, correct me if I'm wrong). Also in the event at the Sea Lantern Festival (Chinese New Year), you have the opportunity to choose one of the proposed 4* heroes.
@@K1ngBard major events will usually award either a 4* character or an event-exclusive 4* weapon.
Big events MIGHT have a character or weapon but will usually at least have a Crown as one of the rewards (Crowns are needed to level a talent from 9 -> 10, and you only get a handful of guaranteed ones from regular Gameplay, the rest come from event rewards). Minor events only rarely have crowns and usually just give xp/mora/weapon xp materials. And Domain/Leyline events (the most minor of minor events, just double the rewards for a particular type of activity (i.e. a Talent Domain event) up to 3 times per day (does not stack with Condensed Resin)).
The lantern rite event that is coming up soon-ish happens every year (late January or early to mid-Febuary) and allows you to pick any 1 Liyue region 4* character of your choice.
(Yaoyao is a really solid option if you aren't sure who to get).

The quest was time locked and you used to play it alongside the event missions to get materials, you can also get a free Freminet by completing the event😄
