Quick few facts before my break ends and I go back to work:
Series creator Alex Hirsch voices King and Hooty in The Owl House and quite a few characters in this show as well.
The end credits have secret messages that can be deciphered. Gravity Falls was infamous for this sort of thing when it was airing.
I really hope Alicia gets into deciphering any ciphers she spots and any subliminal messaging thats pops up. Thats half the fun of gravity falls! (At least for me anyways)

Fun fact. The creator based the show on some his experiences of when he spend time with his uncle and twin sister in summer, which contributes a lot on the authentic feeling of the show

@loyalist1326 Honestly, as someone who moved to Oregon 12 years ago from Texas, it's actually kinda nice.
Yeah, aside from the natural landmarks and nature stuff tourist traps like The Oregon Vortex and Prehistoric Gardens is more or less all we got.
The creator of Gravity Falls (which came out before Owl House in 2012) Alex Hirsch (is also the voice of king in Owl house) and voices a bunch of different characters in Gravity falls and some characters in Rick and Morty. Since him and Justin Roiland are friends (btw Dipper and Mabel are based off of him and his sister)
Don’t mean to start or assume anything, and forgive me if there is context I’m missing, but after Justin Rolland’s recent allegations and stuff, are they still friends…?

@@donovan802 I haven't seen anything to suggest this, so it is pure speculation, but Alex Hirsch is know for his support of the LGBTQIA+ community and women, so I'd imagine he severed ties. Then again, these are people that we know only by curated reputation, so anything is possible.

Gravity Falls is confirmed to take place in the same universe as The Owl House (well, same human world) and Amphibia. Also, Grunkle Stan is also confirmed to be Eda's ex-husband (it was one of those cliche Vegas cliche weddings), until she robbed him and took off 2 days later.

And since dimensional travel is a thing, Rick and Morty are also cannon, there is even an Easter egg in rick and morty, where items from gravity falls that passed through a portal can be seen coming out of one of ricks portals

Edit: Also, (correct me if I’m wrong) the most “eh” episodes of the series are “Little Gift Shop of Horrors” and “Roadside Attraction” in season 2. Then again, the latter could easily be just chalked up to episode order placement.🤷♂️
"Roadside Attraction" would have worked better much earlier in the season.
But especially before "Northwest Mansion Mystery". I mean, I spent the entire episode thinking "Why are you going after other girls Dipper? You have -------.
I'd also say "Love God" is pretty low for the series. But it does have "I _e_at kids"...

Amphibia is also connected to the two. With a episode "Wax Museum" having an villain version of Grunkle Stan and Soos, and in Owl House, the season 2 finale had a blink and miss it news report of Anne Boonchuy returning from a world of frogs.
Bill Cipher also pops up in a early episode of Owl House when King teaches Luz about demons.
In Rick and Morty, items from Gravity Falls pops up through a portal.
It's fun finding connections like that. There are probably even more but I hadn't seen anymore

Oregon actually has the highest number of haunted houses of any state in America (thus making it the perfect setting for this show), not to mention loads of tourist traps & roadside attractions/oddities that the Mystery Shack takes its inspiration from.
Yeah idk why she was acting like there's nothing in Oregon like it's some Midwest state instead lol. There's tons of cool fun shit, even for someone who hates outdoors like her lol
@@NinjaTyler True, a good portion of Oregon's charm (much like the rest of the Pacific Northwest) is in its natural scenery: Crater Lake, various National Parks, redwood forests, tide pools on the beach, the Portland Japanese Garden, and of course the possibility of Bigfoot roaming around.

Gravity Falls content has yet to die out (especially now, if you know, you know 😉). It has been 12 years since the show premiered, and it has remained a pioneer in western animation. Like generally considered Adventure Time and Avatar: Last Airbender levels of western animated storytelling legacy shows

An interesting detailed to keep in mind is that Mabel is always wearing a different sweater every episode.
And it was stated by the writers that not only does she make them herself. If you don’t see her on screen, she’s most likely knitting a new sweater.
Also, a very interesting little fact is that. a deleted second that the fandom has actually taken as Canon.
Has stand talking about an older woman that he ended up meeting once in Vegas that they ended up getting married by an Elvis impersonator, and then she stole his car.
One of the details is, he describes her having long gray hair, a bit of a snaggletooth and wore a 30 and flirty T-shirt.
This was about a year or two before owl house came out. Where Eda not only has that same shirt. She also has a mug that says 30 and flirty.
So the fandom has basically adopted the idea that at one point stand Pines married Eda, the owl lady for a short while.

I hope Alicia reacts to Amphibia after Gravity Falls given how The Owl House references Amphibia and Amphibia references both Gravity Falls and The Owl House (Amphibia is also just really good), Gravity Falls doesn't directly reference The Owl House or Amphibia but it is canon that Eda and Grunkle Stan were married, in Vegas for like an hour and she then stole Stan's car and money, we know it's Eda as Stan states that her name was Marilyn AKA the same name she goes by as shown in the Owl House episode Yesterday's Lie, had "wild grey hair", "a gold tooth" and a shirt with "over 30 and flirty" on it which Eda also has on a mug.
Oh boy, hope you're prepared for the rabbit hole you just fell into. This series, this franchise, has SO many secrets, the SECRETS have secrets! Like, you'd be surprised how DEEP this goes if you're planning on hunting down the actual books...including the new one coming out literally this month.

I love how this show and owl house start off so unassuming. Low stake, fun quirky adventures, and little drips of character development. Then at some point you are in season 2 going, wait, when did this show start having super high stakes, a huge interwoven story, and mind bendingly deep lore.
Sigh…..just like Star and Amphibia!

This is one of the only series where I can legitimally say that every single episode is not only an absolute banger but has really memorable moments as well, except for one that I really didn't care much for (The one with the cupid guy or smth I really don't remember).

Yeah. There's TONS closer towards the coast. Hiking, swimming, rock climbing, skiing, the city, wide number of festivals, the falls, the gorge... Other than the hot air balloon event though, can't think of much in the eastern half. 😅
@@wardenm Dust and meth heads in the high plains/desert of the Southeast, mostly. Then you get to Central East lands and it's beautiful farmlands before you hit the weird as fuck alien looking mountain ranges of the Northeast.

Oh, my, freaking, GOD this literally feels like a dream Alicia is ACTUALLY watching gravity falls I absolutely love gravity falls even though at first I’d actively avoid it because what was shown on the adverts it looked really scary but one morning I had a doctors appointment so before I went to the hospital I just watched whatever was on the TV channel which was Disney XD that day and watched the Halloween episode which if there was going to be a scariest episode that would be it but I REALLY enjoyed it and would actively watch it instead gravity falls is such a phenomenal show (I deeply miss when Disney used to make things that was actually freaking good)

There are so many secrets hidden in this series it is quite interesting. Hidden messages, ciphers and things that look like letters all throughout. When it first came out there threads on reddit trying to find and decipher everything liek the little ending cards with code, wild theories and lists of little hints etc. It was a wild and very entertaining time. Good memories.

one important thing that a lot of people misses is that the hand on the cover of the journal have 6 fingers
this series is such a treat, it really encourages that mystery-finder mindset. there's so many fun little background details and borderline-ARG clues, to really help drive home the idea that there's something bigger going on, but without getting in the way of a casual viewing experience, because it's still conventionally entertaining and genuine. (not to mention funny, I don't think there's a show out there that better matches the exact humor my friend group vibes with, so many laugh-out-loud moments)
you're going to love this show, it's by far one of the best shows ever made and also the "mermaid" in the tank is the monkey torso with a fish tail

LET’S GOOOOOOOO this is literally my favorite animated show ever, I’ve watched a lot but I’ve rewatched this show so many times and I love the story and everything, I’m so glad you’re starting it!
I loved this show as a kid
This show is full of codes and secrets to look for. Every episode ends with some cool codes to decrypt. The random gibberish at the end of the credits (and a card after the credits in season 2) has jumbled letters or numbers to decript with some really clever codebreaking using several different kinds. Season 2 even COMBINES codes to make them tougher to figure out. Season one's codes are simple and goofy, usually an extra joke related to the show, but the shorts from between the seasons and season two's codes god a lot more heavy with ominous foreshadowing future events.
If you want to try and solve the first set of codes yourself, listen to the whisper on the title screen. Playing it backwards will give a clue how to solve the code.
You know after watching this episode I might watch all of gravity falls again because I’m not just saying that I genuinely DO love it

IIRC alex herch based the town of gravity falls off a real town called Boring, Oregon. He would pass through it on trips as a kid.

I’m so glad you decided to watch this show. I promise you, you will NOT regret it at all. Also, here’s a fun fact: it’s canon that Eda from the Owl House is Grunkle Stan’s ex-wife. They got married at some point in Vegas and stayed together for a full 48 hours before she stole all of their casino winnings and his car and he never saw her again.

This show has many, many hidden messages hints or secrets, and when you decrypt them, it only makes it even better.
Yeah Gravity Falls is one of those modern classics. It came out and everyone knew it was gonna be something big. Best part is the creator got to tell the story he set up. No rushing to the end due to cancellation or anything. Just the two seasons he wanted. Although there is some rumblings Disney are trying to get him back for more Gravity Falls.
Welcome to a new journey. If you love The Owl House. You're gonna love this! Also, I knew you'd love Mabel.

Fishing is big up here in Oregon. My dad actually moved here from Wisconsin just for the fly fishing. We also have big art and music scenes in Portland and Eugene, and lots of amazing campsites and forest trails. We also have crater lake national park, a volcano that filled with water which is famous for its depth and incredible deep blue color
