I'm watching to learn the art myself! You have a blessing from God and continue to progress to doing greater things in His name! God bless you and your family brother!
The big takeaway from this video is how easy it is to make tooled lines around the edges. Thanks for showing that. Every little thing I can learn will help be a better rebinder. Please show more videos. Thanks
Thank you very much for your videos. For spine hubs I use paracord. It's inexpensive. it's simply not going to wear out and it's very easy to work with. Your spine hubs are always exactly the same diameter you just cut them to the length of the spine that you wanted used and you're always going to get a consistent even raised hub
Good on you for passing down this knowledge. I have a few Bibles that just aren't nice/expensive enough to send off to a bindery that really do need the work done though. So, maybe now I'll give it a shot on my own. (I'll start with a hardcover that only cost a few bucks. LOL) Anyway, thanks again, brother. May our Lord continue to bless and keep you.
I have noticed other binders using scrap paper under their work when gluing. This saves on having to use the wipes and paper towels to clean up. But everyone has their own methods of working.
I used to do the same, but its more time consuming to remove a paper from underneath and readjust. Also sometimes the brush will stick to the paper, and cause a mess on the leather cover, so this process works best for me.
Awesome another great video, I was patiently waiting for the next part to this series 😂. Also, videos displaying your techniques for gilt lines, attaching the text block & stamping would definitely be great 👍🏾.
When did you cut the liner (inner section, whats the process or length you use? great videos - I'm going to try to rebind some old family bibiles. You inspired me / Also can you use the same type of leather for the liner and the outer cover? Not sure on the liner part, everything else I've worked out logistically.
Your work looks a lot like RL Allen concerning style from what I can see in this video. I'm not really familiar with your finished product. But looks very nice. I hope to learn how to do this one day. I have some basic leather working tools. I just need a skiving knife and the right kind and thickness of leather.
Hey Frost Leather, thanks for these videos! I've been doing leatherwork on and off for a little while now and I've always thought book binding would be neat. My Bible that's my regular reader and beater is falling apart and I'd like to rebind it. Where do you find the best place is to buy this type of leather? Thanks!
Thanks for this video man. I’ve been wanting rebind the Bible I got saved with for years but there’s not a ton of videos out there like this. On that note is is possible to rebind books that were originally a paperback/softcover?
Thank you for uploading these how to videos. They’re most helpful. One question, how do you make those gold edge lines? It seems the video skipped that part.
What ounce leather do you use for your liner? I am planning on rebinding my bible with 6-7 ounce full grain rustic bison and would rather use leather liner than a paper liner. Thoughts?
Hello! I usually stick with 1-2oz leathers, depending on how pliable the leather is. Sometimes when glueing the leather together, it will become too thick or too thin, and an adjustment on thickness will be needed to create a pleasing final product. Just have to experiment and see what you find to love yourself! :)

The fact that such a skilled binder is sharing your knowledge is insane! Very much appreciate this. I have followed your work for a while, incredible.
Man, thanks for the video. Your charity and generosity of you in sharing your technique and methods are greatly appreciated.

Your "tooling tool" is called a creaser....just saying....thanks, you do nice work.
Your awesome thanks!
how different should the leather liner be, than the outer leather? Or, does it not really matter
Create some test samples, glue them together and see how you like them, then adjust accordingly :)
@@Keep_preaching I will try that! Thanks
Awesome job and talent!
Thank you!
Really cool, first video I’ve seen of this… well series cause I watched pt1 but really interesting, put this on my list of skills to learn
Welcome aboard!

Thank you! Yes it is possible, though it would be preference if the Bible itself is of a sewn binding.
What are you using for the leather liner? Is it lambskin or the same sokoto goatskin? Where can I find it and what weight/thickness do you use?
Depends of the type of the exterior, but usually around 1-3oz, 1mm thick, and you can use Lambskin, Cowhide, Calfskin, Sheepskin.

These videos were just an over view, not to show how to do certain details such as gold gilt lines.

Hey Frost Bibles!
About what weight leather is good for bible rebinding? I've seen everywhere from 1-2oz and 4-5oz! Thanks!
The weight of leather can vary, what you want is around 1mm thick.
@@Keep_preaching Thanks for Replying!!!
Are you still binding Bibles?
