me walking into this in 2023 and finding out this was the exact fix i needed 0.0 tysm you are awesome
We tried cleaning check valve, reservoir screen and nothing worked, water fill and heating and blue middle button were lit up at same time. I watched your video and started messing around with holding the middle button down several seconds and unplugging it and plugged it back in and it worked, we are doing a happy dance. We got the keurig at a yard sale for $1, thanks so much!
I had the same problem with my K150 and after trying everything, I realized something weird on the reservoir: The little hose on the very top was feeding water back to the machine. I clogged one of the sides with a piece of paper towel and pushed it in tight inside the hose. FIXED. Now my machine fills the amount of coffee I select without any issues. But be careful of something: That little hose has 2 holes, one for air intake and the other one feeds water back to the reservoir. Make sure you clog the right one because the machine may overheat is you clog the wrong one. Thankfully it is pretty easy to tell which one is the side pouring water back. Block it with your finger as you brew and you'll be able to tell which one is which. Good luck!
I managed to find another option to fix this. There is a filter that gets plugged and makes it hard for the Keurig to get enough water. Here is how I managed to resolve this: Firstly, you have to remove the water reservoir the bottom of your machine. Then unscrew the bottom plate of the machine. Undo the 2 screws of the intake that normally fits into the reservoir. Inside is a black plastic filter, pull it out with needlenose pliers and clean it. Pop it back into place and reassemble. This solved my Keurig's 1/2 cup problem and took me 20 min to find and fix.

Cleaning the basket, repositioning the tank, and the paperclip method all didn't work for me, but then I watched your video and gladly gave my Keurig a whack and that did the job alright! ::sips:: damn good coffee! Thanks Brian!!
Oh my! It works. Thank you so much. I've tried so many cleaning methods but nothing worked. After tapping it & removing/replacing the water container, the water pours out. I'm happy I won't need to replace my Keurig
Thanks, followed all the trouble shooting. My Keurig was only dispensing a few drops of water when I tried to make coffee. I banged on the top in a few places and it worked immediately. Problem fixed, full cup of coffee!! Thank you! 😂 I also have always descaled my machine once a month with vinegar and clean and wash all the parts so was wondering why my Keurig would not release water. It is 15 years old and still works like new now. We use it everyday , up to 6 servings a day!
I troubleshoot ed doing all steps before except the bang on top. And. Wow. It worked !!who knew. Works better now than it has in awhile. Thanks!
Thank you so much - working better than ever. Didn't work with just a tap on top-I lifted the whole machine by the front & gently dropped it a few times. Works like a charm. Also cleaned out those holes with the paper clip. Thanks again.
I'm a writer, and a broken Keurig is a goddamn tragedy for me. Your video told me how to fix my problem in the first 50 seconds. Thanks!
Emily McKinney Emily what type of writing do you do? When I see you, I imagine the next Anne Rice/Danielle Steele.
I followed the steps, it worked. Now brews a full cup of water. Thank you !
Omg. I tried everything and even all the things you suggested and the thing that worked was to thump it a few times on the top. That’s crazy! Thanks for the tip 😊
First attempt at descaling and thought machine was toast. Wow. No lie, I had spent hours trying to figure this out until I found this video and most of the time I would’ve beat on the machine prior to seeing this but hadn’t done so. Welp, did what you instructed and to my surprise, it actually worked. My duo is back. Thank you.
Thanks for this video and troubleshooting tips. After following instructions my Kurig is brewing a full cup of coffee again! :)
We weren't getting a full cups, either. Followed directions in the book and from your video; cleaned out what needles we could and pumped white vinegar through the machine again and again. No joy.
So I then decided to try your "little bit crazy" method of giving it a smack during a cycle. Instantly I began to notice coffee grounds swirling with the clear vinegar solution. Another cycle, >whap
I have now been through 4 of these machines (2 replaced under warranty) and I am convinced in terms of longevity quality, they absolutely stink! I am surprised there hasn't been a class action against the company for their products that cease to function properly even with the instructional manual cleaning steps followed.
Not all customers have experience like you. Here's a lot of happy customers around :). Enjoy your cup, www.aromacup.com
I understand being in your position you have no choice but to defend the product. Anyhow, I googled the subject and there are large amounts of complaints out there. I returned this latest one I complained about that stopped working for a free exchange, and the new ones now are employing a replaceable filter. So obviously Kuerig knew enough that they needed to change the design to address the many complaints and exchanges they have been doing. We'll see if this new bi-monthly changeable filter does the trick to prevent the clogging.
Revolver Den I totally understand you and understand problems you are having. We are not defending product at all :). For so many years we provided independent reviews (like a consumer report). That why people like us :). Just keep in mind Keurig own 80% of US market. We just see other side of it. Imagine amount of machines they sold. That why here's so many complains. But at same time here's so many factors like using filtered water, descaling machine, altitude and etc which are very important. Enjoy your cup, www.aromacup.com.
Jim Babb I wonder how much they pay him.

I am one of those happy customers. My B60 is finally getting weak after almost a decade of use. I thought it was mainly because I have been on very hard well water the last two years. Lots of scale and iron in the water.
I'm just looking at repair videos now to see how it comes apart and how it functions and it seems that most likely I can just lube my air and water pumps and maybe get another ten years from it.
The only other person I know that had one was my sister, hers lasted about 3 years and she replaced it when it stopped working. No idea whether she cleaned it with white vinegar regularly like I always have.
For a couple of months it made a strange whirring sound, then the brew was only 1/4 cup. Tried vinegar, no help, then as he said I did the steps. Now it works like new!! Thanks!!!
I had issues with partial cup brewing when using certain K cups (after market). I noticed that the bottom rim profile was slightly different on the 3rd party cups. The edges did not go all the way to the seat, rather they had a recessed rim. I think water pressure was causing a hydraulic action and pushing the mechanism open slightly. HOW TO FIX: I used a working K cup. Cut the portion below the filter off and hallowed out the bottom while retaining the bottom edge. You hollow it out so that the bottom needle does not come into play. Slip this partial sleeve over your problem cups and it should alleviate the issue.
Agree about the quality of the product. On the plus side, hitting it and shaking it worked!
I tried the steps with little expectation of a positive outcome, because I've run into this problem every couple of months. The only step I'd never tried was the tapping on the top. I did that one extra step, and I had an amazing amount of grounds come out with the hot water. After eight repeats, I finally had a clear cup of hot water. I would guess that the grounds have expanded enough to be forced back into the tubing, and for whatever reason, the other solutions didn't do enough to dislodge them.
I've been over an hour trying to get mine to work and it was getting worse! Running descalling through it and it was barely brewing anything... I tried your "hit" technique and it didn't work but after hitting it I gave it a little shake it now it's working perfect!
This was the fix I needed. I only use distilled water in my Keurig so I knew I didn't have calcium built up anywhere. I didn't know that k cup holder came apart. As soon as I opened it coffee grounds fell out, one of them a fairly large, hard little nugget. All is well now. Thanks for posting.
the directions on Keurig repeatedly state to NEVER use distilled water. Only filtered or tap.
Distilled water is not safe for drinking daily!!
Thank you! After trying to descale for two days, cleaning out the needle is finally what did it! THANK YOU!
Excellent information in this video, but I just noticed I have the extra water coming out of the bottom of the machine. I am off to get a new one and maybe fiddle with the old one at some point to figure out what seal has gone bad. My machine made it about 8 years with pretty much no issues (about 1000 cups); so not too bad. Got to have my morning coffee.
Saved me from buying a new machine!! Thank you! FIXED!
Clean the water reservoir. There's a filter within it that can be flushed through. This worked for me.
The slight whack on the top worked. It started working immediately after. I did try all the other things first but the whack did it. Thanks.
Glad it worked. Enjoy your cup, www.aromacup.com
I agree with Jamie. The clogged holes were not in the bottom cup for me on my Keurig B-31 mini. It was in the needle that pokes through the top of the K cup. That needle has 3 holes. Just pull off the rubber gasket, poke your straightened paper clip up into each hole and run it up and down pressing it up as far as you can get it to go. Put the gasket back on. Mine is running like new now with full water pressure and it was totally clogged.
LMAO and sipping my coffee again! The WHAP worked! It said it was "brewing" which it wasn't. I "whapped" it and presto, coffee started coming out. LOVE U!!!!
Only the last WHAP worked for us as well. Thanks Aromacup.
clean the mesh at the bottom of the water holder. this worked for me -- and i gave it a good whack, just for good luck...
Thank you. Cleaning out the mesh filter did the trick.
My machine would say it was brewing, but nothing was happening. For the last few days it was giving me a smaller and smaller dose of coffee no matter what size brew I selected, then today, nothing. Did all the tricks this video above suggests, but nothing helped. Found this video this morning, followed what this guy did, and it's now working better than ever. Easy fix, too! keurig coffee maker fix. not pouring anymore Hope it helps someone else!
cherwingate Great. Thanks for sharing. Enjoy your cup, www.aromacup.com
OH BABY! That worked AND was satisfying to give the damn machine a few swift wacks! Lol... My kind of 'old school' repair technique. Reminds me of the Russian cosmonaut in 'Armageddon', lol...
Thank you your help fix my coffee maker
Thank you--I did not know my basket pulled apart. I did rthe whitte vinegar trick to and that worked!
I've tried everything else that he said - THIS TIME I'm going to go ahead and give it a couple Thwacks like he suggested! I'll get back to you in a few minutes...
Brand new machine, and went through the troubleshooting with Keurig on the phone and no dice, they are sending a replacement. Then I watched this video and gave it a solid thump on the top (and once on the sides for good measure) and boom coffee again. I will however take them up on the replacement as I don't trust the machine that crapped out after a week.
Also check the 3 holes on the side of the puncture needle in the lid. Pull the rubber grommet off and just push an unbent peper clip up through the holes.
thanks you helped me! I was about to have a fit when it kept stopping after 5 seconds
Excellent tips!! I've had my original classic Keurig machine for over 10+yrs now with no issues.
The first ones my friends bought when they first came out gave up replacing them. WHY? WHAT WAS THE PROBEM WITH THEM? Because most people turn the power on & off when going to make a cup(s) and the heater switch is (or was) being used everyday or every use to turn the machine on & off, and the heater switch burns out quickly that way being turned on & off so often. Not sure if Keurig ever fixed this problem, after it happened to me with my first machine that only lasted a year, from then on I just KEET THE MACHINE ON EVERYDAY AND NEVER TURN IT OFF. The lights are all that stay on power wise just like any old coffee maker pot clock.
I keep the tank full always with fresh water (unless going away for a long period), and I've never had a problem with the machine in over 10ys+. I clean it twice a year & descale it easily within an half hour at most.
Thanks for the tip Brian. Just had this happen to me and the paper clip method did it.
YAY! A full cup of Joe! Thanks!
I have done all those fixes and it still varies the oz. size I have it set at. How ever the pump works to figure out size has a glitz in it. It is a very good machine, I wish they would fix this problem.
Used vinegar to descale and then gave it to good strong whacks on the top and presto- full cup again!
Great. Thanks for sharing. Enjoy your cup, www.aromacup.com
Problem solved. Thanks!
Ty i just tap the top and it works 😚
Uhhhhh!!!!!😢😍 You SAVED my Keurig!! Thank you so much! 🤗☕😚👌☕☕💗
WAP always solves the day!
Thank you. That paper clip worked!
The WACK tip actually worked!!!
Remove the reservoir and blow air through the water intake valve with an air compressor/tire inflator. This is the only thing that worked for me.
FOR SEVERE CASES: Yes, that's the ticket for a severely screwed up machine. Mine was making all kind of noises and clicks and would not refill from the reservoir tank. First clean the outlet filter at the bottom of the reservoir as described. Then I just used an ordinary bicycle pump with a baloon inflator attachment jammed tightly into the intake near the bottom of the body of the machine itself. If the system is really clogged you will know it because when you pump air into the bottom of the machine it will spit back through the little white tube (pressure release?) at the top of the machine. If you just pinch that white tube while you pump that will close the system and water in the machine will spit forcefully out the needle that pierces the K-Cup. "Thar she blows!" All fixed. Make sure to do this procedure over a sink because water will blow out the piercing needle when it clears. Also, of course, do the whole procedure with the machine UNPLUGGED! I thought my 12 year old machine was dead, but now it works better than ever! This procedure might work on the hardest cases from the thrift shops.
Perfect instructions
I have tried everything and the POS still stalls in mid-brew with BREWING showing in the display. Sometimes it brews 1/5 of a cup, sometimes 1/2, sometimes 2/3, but never a full cup. Three hours later I think I am ready to landfill the thing.
I buy these for about 1.50 each (or less) at thrift stores, take them home and clean them up and they work like new. Right now, I have about 10 of them. Ya just never know when you'll need one.
I beat on it like it owed me money and finally worked
This is our second K-Classic. We had our first one for many years, so when we had to replace it, we wanted nothing else but this exact ruclips.net/user/postUgkxBrV-RbF5Nk0Rlt9i15aao-YMzqzTG8Vf model. We use it for about three people everyday in the morning. The taste and quick brew is one of the reasons we like it so much. There are so many choices of brands of coffee that we would grab what was on sale and test the different brands from there. I would definitely recommend trying different brands of coffee to find the ones you like the most because there are brands that quite frankly taste horrible.
what if u dont have a paper clip?
Mesh filter and the wack where enough, Keurig works great again, thanks!
I had tried everything suggested. De-scaling it, using a pin to clean, etc. Strangely, in my frustration, I whacked it on the top..hard. Now? I have a perfectly working machine.
This is my third Keurig in less than 6 years. I think they have a two year expiry date. Did all these things and have been descaling for two weeks and the pump is weaker and weaker. I use filtered water. Keurig offered me a machine for $70 but should I try yet another machine!!!? Think I'll try Tassimo
Amazing, smacking the top did fix it.......maybe entrapped air bubble rather than tubing clog...
Very informative....thank you!
I did the first two things Journeyman suggested to no avail. I'll try the wack and cleaning the bottom of the reservoir. I have descaled with vinegar. How do you suggest to clean the bottom of the reservoir? Do you mean to scrub the mesh with a brush, rag of what exactly?
Needle is dull hard to pierce the cup. need a new brew basket can't find one.
paper clip , vinegar, and whack, went from nothing to perfect cup! so far so good
I'm not getting a full POT of coffee out of my Keurig Duo. I'm assuming the same things you shared here will help there. I have cleaned the system with vinegar - and that helped for a few pots. Maybe three. Will the de-scaler work that much better than vinegar? And is it necessary to use filtered or distilled water? I have my own well water, which is great water. Thanks!
My Keurig is about 6 months old with 1 or 2 cups a coffee made daily. The descale light came on so I followed all the directions for descaling it. The descale light is still blinking. How can I remedy this?
What do I do to fix my keurig 2.0 that leaks from the bottom only when it is brewing?
I have a brand new k-cup just opened it today and am having this problem ..I have tried everything other than descaling because I mean..do you think it needs that? please help!
THE NEEDLE IS NOT SHARP AND GETTING GROUNDS IN COFFEE CAN I BUY ONE SOME WHERE . PLEASE CAN YOU HELP ME. IT WORK GOOD.
Thank you the tap! Worked!!
brewer will not pierce k cup, is there a replacement part I can order?
can it be cold water
I've done all, whack too! My problem is ONLY when there is a KCup installed for coffee. With no cup all is flowing nicely. Any other suggestions??
Thyank you very much I am really appreciate.
Message states filling ‘ water keeps coming through will not heat
& cut off
this is not exactly what i am dealing with i press the largest cup size but it will only give me the smallest cup size for some odd reason
Smack it during brew cycle or when its doing nothing?
My keurig brews only a partial cup of coffee with a k cup. But without the k cup, it pours water fine (like for tea). I have descaled the machine twice and done everything in this video, twice. I cannot figure out this problem.
i need some help. I just got my Vue and am running it through the very first cycle with just water and i'm only getting 2 oz at a time. i keep hitting brew over and over and i still only get 2 oz....please help
I am on my second. No matter how often I de scaled, it just stopped working. We have hard water but have softener and iron filter. Now I ONLY USE DISTILLED WATER....problem solved!
Mine has a charcoal filter..can't I use tap water
Mine brand new and still have that issue
Mine is making large cups no matter what size is selected. How do I fix that? Too much water, not enough.
U are a fucking genius. Cleaned the bottom of the water reserve and boom back in business
These videos don't tell the true problem. Some have it right. The air pump goes on these. I watched a serious of 6 videos by a guy that knew the problem, has you totally unassembled the keurig, cutting the top cover off, breaking tabs, to get to the air pump. You don't have to do all that. The pump is right in the bottom. You don't have to completely unassemble to get to this part. Take the bottom cover off, then remove the screws that are under the cover. Now you can maneuver the sides to get to the screw that holds the pump in. Carefully clip the tie that is used as a clamp on the small tube. Snip the wires and Splice in new pump, use a small wire tie to clamp tube back on. I bought my pump on eBay for $17.99 on eBay. A lot cheaper than a new machine.
I have the same kurieg and I literally smacked my kurieg where you said and it worked…….
I'm only getting about 2 ounces of water. Cleaned the pins, nothing. Descaled, then I got even less water. Rapping it on the side/top does nothing but make strange noises. Now what.
Gave it a good whack and it worked :) thanks for the tip
The whack worked for me so far...
It worked after descaling 3 or 4 times, it must have been really scaley
save me from throwing it out thanks
We have purchased and returned 4 keurig coffee makers. Each time we purchase a better model in hopes it will perform better. We now have the best one thy make and already it is clogged and I can't unclog it. I have cleaned the needle several times. I have tried cleaning the reservoir several times and it is still clogged. This coffee maker is only 1 month old. I use filtered water and only official keurig coffee. I am so frustrated. What can I do to unclog this darn thing? Help.
Throw it away and go back to conventional coffee maker. :) I feel you pain. I had the same partial cup brew issue like hundred of other people on youtube. Luckily I bought my Keurig from Costco. I took a chance and took the machine back to costco, 14 months from the time of purchase. Costco gave me the 2.0 machine and a small refund since the new 2.0 unit was on sale.
Yes this is correct. You still have this options thought in case vinegar don't do the job :). Enjoy your cup, Aromacup.com.
My whole machine vibrates out of control when brewing, I have to hold it with 2 hands from keeping it from vibrating off the counter. Any suggestions why?
Thank you for the info, after descaling it twice and smacking it numerous times, I threw it away.
Love the "whack" hack...lol...
Pretty Good Pretty Pretty Good.
My Keurig doesn't always give you the same amount of coffee in your cup, even if you have it set the same size each time. Why is this and how can I get it to give me the same oz.size each time?
Easy by having the right amount of water in it as I usually fill mine w/ a 20 oz bottle ad was just curious so I put a Measuriing Cup under and ran just plain water thru a filter and found out it does brew the 10 oz or 6 oz I chose but the mug I use is a 12 oz mug so I do 2 6 oz's and just fine. You probably don't have enough water in it.
all keurigs eventually have to have more to do to fix everything besides descaling. I will just stick with my regular coffee maker.
