      FIRST OF ALL, CONGRATS! second, marshall is great! If you’re living on campus, it’s in a good location and it’s a fun spot cause its kind of in the middle of campus so getting around is superrr manageable. The GE’s are great and i heard from my friends in marshall that the DOC writing class is pretty straightforward and stufff and i love marshall’s theme! Just know that you are NOT limited to your college and that your network definitely goes beyond your college! Meet people and make a difference everywhere! If you have more questions tho dm me @jtjtc on instagram heheheh

    Quick question. Did you come into UCSD with any AP credits? I didn't report any of my test scores, so I'm just really worried that Im going to be at the very bottom of the priority list when it comes to choosing classes..
    So far, I made a list of all the classes that interest me, so is there a chance that I can't get into a single class I want, and end up having to choose harder classes that don't pertain to my interests??

    • @jarenz
      @jarenz  Год назад

      hi! yes i did come in with AP credits. I came in with around 60 so I already was a sophomore right when i came in. There honestly is a chance that all your classes get taken up especially if they are in higher demand. My fall quarter i had to go through 3 plans to finally get a class that I didnt waitlist in

      @@jarenz i did take 10 units worth of theater elective classes at a CC while i was in HS. Since these classes wouldn’t count towards any of my ERC GEs, would they count towards my cumulative units at ucsd? In other words, does that mean technically i’m starting at ucsd with 10 units already completed, or am i still at 0..

    heyy, i got into UCSD for bioinformatics. i’m between UCSD and UCSB bc UCSD is super close to home which I don’t like and i’m kinda nervous abt the socially dead aspect. how easy it is to get around? like with buses and scooters and bikes

    • @jarenz
      @jarenz  2 года назад +1

      woah bioinformatics is super cool. it’s manageable, because the shuttles and stuff do come around often, but the scooters and bikes make life so much more convenient
      honestly tho, being away from home is nice just for the independence aspect, but if the socially dead part is a big factor, just remember that it depends on u! ucsd pushes u to grow in terms of networking skills and become more intact with ur social desires

    Hey! I just got accepted for this Fall of 2024 as a Human Bio major, at 8th college!
    While im still waiting on my FAFSA, im almost ready to commit to UCSD, yet i have my doubts as i heard jnr and snr yr students arent "guaranteed" on campus housing. I dont think itd be completely possible for me to live off campus due to the expenses.
    Is what i mentioned earlier true?

    • @risnao
      @risnao 26 дней назад

      ucsd has a 2 year housing guarantee so yes if you're coming in as a freshman, after your second year you are not completely guaranteed on campus housing, but it is still possible. if it helps at all, at that point you'd have met roommates/suitemates that you could live which i'd imagine makes the process easier and less stressful. from what i've heard living off-campus can be cheaper than on-campus especially if you're splitting the costs with multiple people, but i don't think the cost difference is very significant

    • @jarenz
      @jarenz  2 года назад +1

      CSE 11 is very tough to get into because a lot of people try to get into that class since it's one of the easier/lighter computer science courses. Calc 2 is UCSD's MATH 20B or MATH 10B and I would say it easier to get into it in relation to cse 11, but it is still pretty tough since it is a common general requirement for many students

    how is living at seventh college?? is it hard to make friends in the dorms? is the distance from seventh to classes really far? do you bike or take some form of transportation to ur classes? im really considering ucsd but being accepted into seventh is making me feel unsure because of the distance and whatnot :(

    • @alfiepaloma7551
      @alfiepaloma7551 2 года назад

      heyo i'm the girl at the end lol and as someone in seventh, it's great in terms of housing but it can be pretty difficult to make friends bc we don't have as many communal spaces as the other colleges + everyone is isolated into their dorms BUT that's also bc we had covid restrictions this year. for y'all next year, it could def be easier idk. the distance doesn't rlly get easier, but the school shuttles, scooters, etc. make it better (i still walk a lot of the time tho lol). i personally am never at seventh just bc i find it less time-consuming to stay out rather than commute. one solution is to live in i-house or some other llc, but also consider that you probably won't be living on-campus and at seventh all four years of college, so don't think of the distance as a make-or-break reason unless you have personal/medical/etc. reasons

    • @codddl8716
      @codddl8716 2 года назад

      @@alfiepaloma7551 aw thank u for the response! yeah I'm scared that finding friends would be difficult in those dorms but do clubs and orgs accept be helpful in terms of social life? do people in seventh college interact with people in their college outside of their suite mates?

    • @jarenz
      @jarenz  2 года назад +1

      Hiiii it was honestly not that hard to make friends because I have met many friendly people, but like Alfie said, there are not as many communal spaces as the other colleges, so many people form seventh usually stay at other spaces on campus. I do believe seventh is the best dorm because every room is apartment style, and the distance is very manageable. It does take more energy, but it gets you out more and pushes you to explore the campus more. And in response to your question about clubs, THEY ARE AMAZING. Most of my close friends were either made in clubs, or our friendship was made stronger because of clubs. That's actually how I met alfie haha and we are super close friends because of the filipino club on campus (btw i strongly encourage you to join the club "kaibigang pilipin@" because you don't have to be filipino! it's a super safe, comforting, expressive, and friendly space). lastly, i interact with people at seventh outside of my suitemates more than my actual suitemates tbh. I almost never hang out with my suitemates, and some of my best friends are those outside of my suite. the situation does vary because many people's suitemates are their main friend group, but you are never limited to your suite, and even your college. friends can be found everywhere! even off campus :)

    How was UCSD cost wise?

    • @codddl8716
      @codddl8716 2 года назад +2

      this depends on if you have instate or outstate tuition! it costs around 35,000-37,000 for all four years to attend but it also depends if you want to live on campus or off campus as well. if youre able to get scholarships or grants it would reduce the cost too :)
