This is me with UC Berkeley. I understand its an prestigious university but I live 25 minutes away from Berkeley and I was born and raised in the Bay Area. I wanna move out!!!! That’s why I’ll pick UCSD.

I'm deciding between ucsd and ucla right now, i'm super drawn to ucla and i really love the vibe there, but i'm also terrified of the amount of competition and challenging work there will be. I know i should challenge myself, but I don't know if I can mentally handle all that competition between students (especially bio/STEM students)

Hi! I'm Kevin, admitted to ucsd biology this fall! I have some questions
I found that u r a pre-health student, and my dream is to be a doctor, but afraid of stepping a prehealth course...
    1. is it really hard that studentsfrequently tired out, and have no time to have a rest?
    2. are there many students who give up a prehealth course?
3.is it better to start prehealth course at first, or start when i get good gpa in freshman?
it would be pleasure to give me an advice!

The questions aren't really clear to me, but I'll try to answer them. Is UCSD hard, and are students tired? The courses require a lot of reading and effort to be successful, and because UCSD is on the quarter system, the pace is much quicker than a semester system. I'm sure some students give up on pre-health, but this isn't unique to UCSD and is expected at any highly ranked University that challenges its students to be the best. I would start with easier courses your first quarter to get your routine and adjust to UCSD student life. If you take major courses first or last, the overall GPA will all even out in the end; keep in mind there is a separate GPA that includes your major courses only. Congratulations, and don't worry too much about the little details you will find your way at UCSD!

3:09 - family obligations? Just curious, though, without your parents and grandparents, would you even have the opportunity to go to college to begin with? I know without my grandparents (who couldn't even DREAM of going to college because they were so poor), I'd be stuck in some factory doing the same, low paying job for the remainder of my life. So I don't see it as a burden or a hassle to have to care for them. That's what we Asians do. We take care of family because they took care of us when we needed to be taken care of.

    Hello,
I am currently looking for Post-Docs opportunities in the US. One of the labs that interest me is in UCSD (I am a STEM major).
Were you able to spend some time at UCSD amid the pandemic ?
What did you think of the facilities ? Of the teachers ?
I am like you, get in, get the skills, get out. I am European and all this "American campus life" is too exotic to me. I like to think of the university as a professional environment and like to get out as soon as my work is done in order to enjoy my life.
What was your experience so far ?

I am having a tough choice between Berkeley and UCSD. I really don't know what to do. I am going into chemical engineering and Berkeley is soo good for that major. But I love UCSD and I think it is a better fit for my personality and life style.

I felt this on the deepest level possible…both schools are so great and I’m a little stuck :/ Right now I’m leaning toward UCSD just because of how incredible and fulfilled I felt on campus this past Saturday. It also has an incredible program for my major so I really feel like we can’t go wrong wherever we go :)

@@enricodelrosario7895 Yeah I agree. I love the UCSD campus but I am pretty sure i am choosing Berkeley for the major, opportunities, professors, and its location (the way it kinda of inside the town of Berkeley)

Omg i am in your exact situation this year. I am stuck between Berkeley and UCSD as a music major. I love Berkeley of course because of its opportunities and professors etc. but UCSD is close to home and the vibe really fits me. I do feel more at peace and happier at UCSD. Tough decision but i wish you all the best.
