    oh my god this was so helpful!!! I'm committed to UCSD class of 2024 and I got Revelle, I'm not a STEM major and frankly kind of hate science haha so I'm a bit worried about the GE requirements, so I'm wondering how hard is it to switch colleges?

    • @ByteOfMichael
      @ByteOfMichael  4 года назад +7

      I think GE's are designed to be relatively easier than major level courses (from my experience, as they have to be taken by all disciplines), so I wouldn't stress too much. I actually don't know anyone that has switched colleges, so I am not entirely sure on the process or what they look for. I'd suggest asking UCSD admissions for more details on that. Good luck and congrats!

      There is an online petition form I believe called College Transfer Petition or something like that. There are some requirements you have to meet tho. For example, you have to prove that switching would let you graduate earlier...

    Is cooking possible in dorms kitchens if there's any? Or is the meal plan mandatory if you live on campus?

    • @ByteOfMichael
      @ByteOfMichael  3 года назад +1

      I think if you live on campus you are required to have a meal plan, but you can definitely cook in the dorm kitchens!

    How did you do in high school? Could you give a SAT score or something? I’m just wondering because i know you said it isn’t as hard as people say and I want to know how hard it would be for me in comparison to high school

    Hey! I’m an ERC freshman and was wanted to know about your experience with the college and MMW. Any advice would be appreciated. Great video btw.

      whenever you hear ERC the first thing that pop up is MMW Lmao. I'm also in ERC

    • @ByteOfMichael
      @ByteOfMichael  4 года назад +8

      Hey there! I absolutely love ERC, but many students I have met may disagree. ERC focuses a ton on international development. In addition to the MMW classes, there is also a foreign language requirement and a regional specialization requirement. It may sound daunting, but it was really refreshing to take a mix of classes ranging from "History of the Italian Renaissance" to "Computer Organization and Systems Programming." MMW (and most other GEs) is not meant to be extremely challenging, and thus my GEs helped increase my GPA overall. When starting the MMW series I would just suggest taking good notes (because most of the exams are largely memorization based), and when it comes to write an essay, have a couple people read over it to make sure its actually good. Also ERC has the nices dorms but the worst dining hall, so take that as you will. Cheers!

      @@ByteOfMichael are there food places close to ERC though? Also I heard it's far away from a lot of classes, I was just wondering if that was ever a problem for you? Thank you in advance:))

    • @ByteOfMichael
      @ByteOfMichael  4 года назад +1

      Allie L. Haha ERC has its own dining hall and it’s close to ocean view terrace (ovt) which has great pizza, and it’s close to the village market. The whole campus is pretty walkable so I wouldn’t worry too much haha!

    thank you so much! this was super helpful :) if you know ANYTHING about seventh college, particularly the difficulty of ge’s and your opinion on the college’s courses/plan overall, i would love to know before may 1 LOL

    • @ByteOfMichael
      @ByteOfMichael  4 года назад +1

      I’m not super familiar with Seventh College requirements because this upcoming year will be the first year Seventh College is in session. The requirements seem to be of a wide variety so you get to cover a lot of different subjects, which I think could be rewarding. I’d check out the requirements here for more in depth details seventh.ucsd.edu/academics/degree-requirements/index.html . Hope this helps!

    • @ByteOfMichael
      @ByteOfMichael  3 года назад +1

      It really depends on the program you got into. For me personally, I would rank UCSD and UCSB before Irvine, but I never visited SB or Irvine so take my opinions with a grain of salt!

      @@phudang4115 Ya you either have to find other places to park, or submit for a parking exception to be able to park on campus as a freshman. Also if you have enough AP credit to be considered a sophomore, you'll be able to purchase a parking permit, even though are technically a first-year.
