I'm a Mizuno iron guy through and through, my current irons are Forged and there is something about the sound, those ping irons sounded absolutely superb, go for them Matt, you played some great shots and they are pure.
Go back 20 yrs the ping i3 were £549, I tried the white dot stiff cushion shafts in a 6 iron and was hitting it 180, have irons, really improved twice over in 20 years.
Can’t remember the last time I played with a non forged iron set, possibly over 30 years ago. Using srixon atm,but these pings even sound great on the video considering the windy conditions
enjoyed that session. A very good way to actually test the irons vs the few hits in a bay or range as before. Can we say they are creeping toward your bag.
"You can tell by my hair fluttering..." LOL Just as a data point, I paid $799 for 4i-PW for my TaylorMade M2 irons 5 years ago. Their new Qi10 irons, same set, are $1099, $300 more. That's not too bad :) The new Pings do look amazing, I may go try them out since I'm due for a new set! Thanks for the review.
I went to Pula in the early 70's for my honeymoon. I don't think any golf courses existed then, but I did buy a rod and did some fishing in the lake outside the hotel. I know a lot of people will think fishing on your honeymoon!
Mr. Fryer, Before you switch irons, can we get a review on the Fujikura iron shafts please? Wondering how much of the “feel” in this video is due to the different shafts. Thank you.
I got fitted for these in a retro spec and now I have a bit of a wait for them to be delivered. It's only been a couple days but it feels like forever until I get my new irons. Can't wait. Btw how is it possible that we nearly always lip-out on clutch shots? Lol.
Love my i200s from Ping. Been in the bag for 6 years. Have improved from an 8 to a 2 handicap over past few years and want to look at these as Ive improved. Blended set with T and S sounds appealing
Just bought a blended set today. Had no idea these were even available and went in looking for srixon or Mizuno, but goddamn are they pretty and I hit them like butter.
I've been a huge Ping fan over the years and played most of the i-series models from them (starting around the i3/i3+ days), but I'm not sure I'm sold on the BP-S yet. I did demo them back to back with my i230s, and I didn't see too much difference in performance. Maybe the BP-S's apex was slightly lower, but the distance was similar. They were not too demanding to hit, maybe slightly more difficult than the i230s with a bit more distance drop-off when you don't middle it. Keep in mind, it was only a 7-iron. What was surprising to me was the BP-S "felt" (i.e., sounded) like the T150 to me. A bit firmer off the face, even when compared to the i230s which are cast. I'm pretty sure I was striking both irons fairly pure and consistently, but I'll go back to confirm. I did hit the Mizuno 243s back to back with the BP-S too, and although some testers have reported they feel firmer than the 223s, they felt much softer than the BP-S. From what I've read, "softness" isn't primarily due to the forging vs. casting process, but more to the metal used and geometry of the club (225, ZX5, and i59 are all forged, but sounded firm/brittle). IMO, the BP-S are good irons with consistent distances and spin, but I'm not sure they warrant the CAD 2500 they're asking before tax (this is coming from a longtime Ping fan). At this point, nothing is kicking the i230s out of my bag in 2024, that is, until the next i-series iteration is coming out. They're just too good.
People seem to hear forged and think it means soft. When in reality, the metal used is the biggest reason for an iron feeling soft. If people want a soft iron, they should opt for forged irons made of 1020 or 1025 carbon steel. 8620 carbon steel, which Ping uses, is a firmer metal than 1020/1025, which is definitely why you felt it being firmer. I also don't find the T100/T150 to feel that great because of its use of tungsten and its floating face. Definitely a higher pitch sound with those.
@@willadair6178 Agreed. The type of metal used can affect the sound, but I think other factors that people forget about are the ball their using and the geometry and design of the club. You can have forged hollow body irons and multi-piece irons like the T100 and T150, and they sound brittle due to the sound waves bouncing around inside the cavities, etc.
I recently changed my TM PSi for Takomo 201 and I really like the 201. They sound like these Pings on a laptop, as far as you can judge that from a computer. They also look alike, the 201 and the Blueprints. I doubt if I could tell the $1000 price difference between the 201 and these Pings. I enjoyed watching the video though, keep on doing thes vids.
Heja Matt! Forged irons feel way better and this feeling makes a round of golf much more enjoying. So it's a clear answer for you taking them into tbe bag! By the way : don't call a 'yes" if the ball is still rolling, that's a huge mistake! You must know, it's the same calling your dog or the golf ball - both do exactly not what you want and expect, you gez embarrassed. Cheers!
they look great, 2 over in that wind good going with no woods or wedges around greens. I game the i230 love them id happily blend the 7 iron on with the S model
I play the i230 also. They have the most amazing stopping power. Im finding balls half plugged on banks/slopes they should have definitely bounced off into water or away from the green.
Evening Matthew I am sure a player of your standard could handle, these new Ping irons, iff Lee Westwood can, you can 😊 please keep up the good content, thanks from an old timer .
I230's would be my preference 🎉. Don't the Blueprints look like the Inesis 900 series? I don't see much spin on the greens today though. If enough people buy them then they are not too expensive unfortunately
I knew as soon as I bought new irons (Apex 21) that Ping would release a new model that I would lust for the entire year. 😂 I was surprised how much I liked the demo G430s were. These look like the perfect set that I would have bought. Oh well the Cally's are no slouch.
I’m stuck between 243 and blueprint s I currently play 225s. I’ve hit both the 243 had my hammer shaft loved it hit it well the bps had an x100 didn’t like it as much but hit it just as well. Wondering if I put my LZ 6.5 in ping if it would overtake my mizuno.
Hi Matt, noticed you are playing Red Dot fitting, do you like the 1 degree Flat? I'm also playing PING i230 . Black dot.. I,m 5.6 - 5.7 height... what do you think..?
Like the name and they look class, learning as I go that ping irons you can't really go wrong🤷♂️ "What's a good word here...??? Playery!!" 😂😂😂 Had a laugh there mate at your expense, hope you don't mind. Nice vid Matty and super well played👍☘️
Clearly you strike well enough to play forged, CB players irons, Matt. I doubt you could have done better with any other irons, in those conditions. Nice clubs. BUT ... Wilson Staff are nicer 😉
I've always been a Ping player and were I to buy a new set of irons from an OEM, it would definitely be the Ping Blueprints; however, the pricing (across all OEMs) has become absolutely RIDICULOUS. Also, I'm not a Pro and play to an 8 handicap, lucky to get out and play once per week. I'm waiting for my Sub70 659TC-659MB combo set to arrive, forged and to my specs, for ONE THIRD the price of the Blueprints.
The prices are silly, I will most likely never buy new again- I do get my fittings, but I do have very normal settings so the used market are big for me. I wait for atleast a year, then I look for the set I wanted a year earlier. Now I am looking very much at P770 2021, the are down to 500 now for 4-PW.
Just to say that sometimes not everything is as it seems. A pal of mine has seen a well known you tube golf pro during a filming at his course hitting several shots until he gets the right one for the video !
I describe forged irons in a weird way. To me they feel as if they stay on the club face longer as if you can feel the face grab the ball and throw it. lol. It’s so much easier to work the ball with forged club in my opinion.
"Playery" Matt😵💫😵💫...just as well the new Blueprints are better than your choice of nouns 😂😂.... I tried these and they are fantastic, pricey but if I pull the trigger on these(or get our lass to get me an early Birthday prezzy) won't be buying anymore for a very long long time...🌟🎊🥳🤩
Golf is getting way to expensive for us working blokes. I bought a set of ping eye2 becu for 550.00 as my dream set. All a working bloke can afford. Nice clubs though Matt boy.
I think all clubs not just irons are getting too expensive but I'm just a broke bloke so I gotta stay with my 20 year old set bc I just can't afford it
It’s not hard for me to put two and two together and make four. All these big manufacturers giveaway thousands of set of clubs thousands of bags of shoes thousand and thousands of dozens of golfballs . just think about that next time you spend 1500 on a set of plugs
Once again, another "Are these going in my bag?" review and once again, no decision, no commitment. Wish you and your peers would stop using this ClickBait title and just do a review and let it go at that. Nice clubs though, glad you liked them.
All mainstream manufacturers are way to expensive especially when you can get Takomo and Caley clubs for a fraction of the price and they both get good reviews by Matt himself
@@mkemp01Because I like Matts videos. I just happen to dislike all these carbon copy club reviews. Its the same thing every year. I bet if a company refinished some of their 20 year old irons and handed them to creators to review as new releases they would be saying the exact same thingsas they do now. Golf clubs are way too expensive. It's crazy. Us weekend guys simply can't handle those numbers.
These look great but I’d like to see a comparison with the new Wilson Staff CB irons

Great video and review. I am pretty much entrenched with my Mizuno JPX921 Steel forged. You do hit those well, Matt. I say go for the change.
Nice one Matt , refreshing way of reviewing new clubs , I currently ply i525 Pings and love em .

get the new Mizuno Pro 243s. Just got fitted for them myself and they were so nice

The new Wilson CB's are what you should be trying.

Clearly you strike well enough to play forged, CB players irons, Matt. I doubt you could have done better with any other irons, in those conditions. Nice clubs. BUT ... Wilson Staff are nicer 😉
Great video, love forged irons
Prices are getting silly, but there's no fool like a golf addict chasing the dragon! You are such a great putter.
working as a clubfitter really helps, got the blueprint S 4-pw and the 430 max 10k for a lovely 1349$
Love my i525 ... mkre forgiveness for the higher handicap but look great
Greens were really nice looking
do they come with graphite shafts?
Can get them.fit with them
Love these irons!

Talking about price, here in Canada Ping are the most expensive clubs from driver to wedge.
Shoots +2 in a hurricane-with a half set…also, “I don’t think I’m good enough to play blades.” Killing me.
It's because on the simulator the 7i only goes 184 instead of 198 like those super-hot bounce-faced irons. Scores don't matter. Yardage does. 😂

Just out of curiosity, would you say your miss with the irons is on the heel?

Irons look good - slightly confused how this fits in with the Mizuno sponsorship though, I’ve heard they know their way around an iron?
I only have a clothing sponsorship with mizuno, no club deals
Nice irons not such a nice price. Well played in that wind. Looks like the putting practice paid off
Hm nice but for single figure handicap or better.
Drop them in the bag! :)
Why do ping have the cut out, near the heel of the club?
Damned vicious wind, blew all your hair off!
The Ts are sweet 5-9 possibly going in
i own the i230's but only played them for a short while. Partly bad fitting and the head is just too spiny. These look right where I need to be.
May be you can try another ping product g430 max 10k
Probably should have tested the Tour Edge Exotics 723 Pro's......Just as good at $700.

Wowsers...4-pw is $2500 cdn
You hit them pure Matt, and they sounded soft. Love to play these but don’t think I am good enough.
They look like the inesis irons from decathlon
The best irons are ping s55
