Matt, many thanks for putting this together! A great video and excellent exposure for St Andrews Golf Company and what we do. It was great to meet you, Danny and your fathers and I am delighted that you enjoyed your hickory experience at the factory and Scotscraig.
That was one of your best ever vlogs.
Man, the sound of that driver swinging and hitting the feathery ball; pure history right there
Cheers
Quality pure and simple
This is fantastic Matt. Really fascinating to see craftsmen at work
Really enjoyed your dad and you playing.
Hi. Matt..excellent video..brought back some memories..I've played st. Andrews twice..
I love the sound of those clubs, particularly the brassie.
Im 65. When I was about 8-9, an uncle handed me an ancient golf bag with hickory sticks in it. I was instantly taken with them. Lived miles from town and grew up on a farm. There were some balls and tees in the bag and I started working out how to hit them. Never saw a golf course, except on tv. Didnt care. This was different tho. We ahd a 2 acre yard, so I made a little green on the far end and teed up behind the garage. Maybe 50 yards. Made a hole and a flag and that was it. Loved golf ever since. Very cool video Matt. Had no idea they were still made.
I really enjoyed this would like to see more of the same, the craftsmanship of those clubs and balls were amazing. Glad their is still someone keeping it going
Your dad swings the club well. I enjoyed seeing the old equipment.
This is awesome! The backstory alone could be a video keep it up!
Lemme know when you hit up the states
This is a great video. The banter between you and your dad is priceless. For a minute there, I thought he was going to wrap a club around your neck. Haha.
Thanks for the experience
Very interesting 🧐…well done
Thanks Matt for that. Very interesting and very well done. I love golf history
Awesome. All i can say is awesome!!
It's a great place. Based in Largoward which is about 7miles from St Andrews. It's an amazing place to visit
What a way to play golf. Make me want to take my old wooden clubs out for a hit. Love it
Thank you for all ur tips. You won't believe it I shot in a tournament this past weekend and I listened and remembered from all your videos I shot in the low 80s when normal I shot high 90s low 100s. So thank you so much
Glad to hear they are working for you 👍
That is Class!
I use that carry bag for my half set. I love it! Looks so cool.
The old man is a player. Great shot with the mid iron on the first, was surprised it went that far
Hi Matt, great to do this with your dad! You proved that "it is the Indian, not the arrows"
Great video. You did well with the hickory clubs Matt ⛳️😃👍🏻
Fantastic 😎
This is on the bucket list!
It's a great experience
Really good fun video, the hickory clubs are awesome.Maybe it just goes to show it’s the player not the equipment.😂
Something different... Thanks matt 👍
Glad you enjoyed it 👍
Great video
Absolutely great video! Good job!
Thank you 👏
Reminds me of fly fishing, where some enthusiasts still prefer hand-made bamboo rods. And of course the flies hand-tied with…feathers!
Guys don't stop making these old clubs I'm hoping to get a set of these the bag and the geddup? I mean clothes shoes and hat. Thanks Matt for the video 📹🎥. ps: I'd like to see you pete and rick play 9 holes or even 18 holes.
Just awesome 👌
Fascinating vlog. Thanks a lot
Great film Matt, just shows how lucky we are these days! 👍
Yep, game still difficult but that's another level!
Love it mate someone has got to go play panmure up there
A great watch 👍🏻
Them bees sounds angry on the 3rd tee box Matt 🤣
Haha might of been a drone one of the other lads was flying close by
When I was 15, I played golf with hickory-shafted clubs. “Played” is the key word. I had a Mashie and Niblick. Others too, but can’t remember their names. And a wood driver. I prefer the senior flex shafts in my new set of clubs that I am using after 54 years of not playing.
Wow! As the tour guide was explaining that "we have been coaxed into needing to hit a driver long and hickory clubs require more course management" an ad came up for "the secret to driving the ball longer and always hitting over 300 yards".... The irony hahaha
My dad was a pretty decent golfer, down to 6 handicap at one point, and he played with a hickory shafted putter of a very similar design to the one you have there at least to the end of the 70s. Sadly I don't know what became of it, it certainly wasn't anywhere to be found after he passed away a few years ago.
Fun video. How far do you think you were hitting it off the tee? How was the feel of the ball? It sounded surprisingly solid.
Casual Danny Maude cameo??
Dad has a swing! I look like a car accident next to my kids.
I love old golf equipment and often play older woods and irons for fun rounds. One critique, get rid of the background music.
Matt, best comment on the video.
Does your balls have feathers in them dad?🤣
Not sure what is correct answer.
Lovely video mate❤❤
Would you, Matt Fryer, Rick Sheils Peter Finch and Mr. James Robinson take on good good from the states? If they traveled there???? A 4v4 scramble!
How did you enjoy my home course?
I've not stopped talking about it. We only played 9 but they were absolutely fantastic!!
am i the only one getting static in the audio?
Sorry, with these clubs.
Literally doing everything R. Shiels has already done. I wonder where Matt gets his ideas? 🤔
At least he gets his dad involved, makes it quite interesting. Fryer senior is a pro as well
