Hi I’m Rick Shiels, welcome to my channel RickShielsPGAGolf. This RUclips channel is designed to help you play better golf, also to help you enjoy your golf more!
I specialise in golf club reviews, golf club unboxing, golf club news, golf club head to heads, and all about golf clubs.
I also want to make you play better golf by providing coaching video on all topics about golf, how to fix your slice, fix your hook, help you drive the golf ball longer, hit your irons more pure, hit your irons closer to the hole and help you draw and fade your golf shots.
I will also help you lower your score by chipping better by stopping you duff and thin chips, pitch the ball closer and also create backspin. Also I will provide you help to putt better and hole more putts!
On this channel I also make fun and entertaining golf content based on crazy and sometimes “gimmicky” golf clubs. I like to cut through the marketing hype about products and I like to give you the honest truth about golf equipment.

Rick just have to say I love this series. The quest to break 75 is just a great number for you, every shot counts… However, I think being from the USA it’s also a lot of fun to see these historically aged courses. We have a few old ones here, but nothing that compares to this! So interesting and fun to watch. Keep up the good work!

Dave showing you around the course was an awesome help, gave you real confidence on what to do and it seemed as if you had a strong plan before every shot. Fix up that putter and you’re shooting well into the 60’s
Hey Rick! Just started golfing in September of last year. Today I broke 90 for the first time with an 87 from 6400 yards! Thanks for all the tutorials and tips videos you've basically shaped my whole game lol

@@GolfQuestChannel I’m a bit of a range rat and will hit balls until I blister 😂. My local course also had a promotional $150 membership for a year with free walking rounds. Needless to say I play any time I have a couple free hours.

Loved watching this video. I grew up in Prestwick and am very proud oh the auld courses history. I have a nephew who is currently a caddy at the course. My dad there many years ago. I watched some golfers taking off this summer while I waited for the train over the wall from the course. 💙

Great editing and fantastic to feature the Club Professional. I have seen Prestwick quite a bit on RUclips and it look a stunning course, and one which would be a thrill to play. Its a shame that such iconic course in the game no longer feature in tournament golf.

Well here I go again ! Thanks Rick for that vid,. Old Prestwick, memories, Iwas a spectator at the Scottish Amateur in the 70's and a couple of years later was invited to play it by a couple of members ! I seem to recall holing a bunker shot out ther somewhere ! But let me say it is hallowed ground, very special
Rick thanks again for this. I saw this just days before my vacation and I wanted a reason to go to St Andrews anyway. So thanks and it was great meeting you. Was very happy to donate and also give the the $10 from the nice lady I met and the golf shop down the road! Every $ counts!

Truly a ledgend of the game. What you do off the course for prostate cancer etc. places you in my eyes in the same class as my other south african heroes like Gary Player and Ernie Els. You are the peoples champion. Well done man. Keep it up! Lots of golf blessings from South Africa!

No surprise that this has become your new favourite course Rick…. I remember Faldo being asked years ago for his favourite 18 holes ever and he said about 5 of them would be from Prestwick.

Question, Faldo is retiring from CBS this week. And moving to a farm in Montana USA. For 5 months out of the year it’s cold as Antarctica. He moves there instead of back home in England? Sir Nick Faldo , knighted by the Queen mother, moves to fkkn Montana? I need a GD explanation…… I’ve been under the impression that 100% of all Brits think the U.S. is trash.

After what seems like months and months in the wilderness, it seems Rick's golf game is coming together. Driving is SO good! and his short putting is a lot more solid. Really really stoked for him. 🙂

What a golf course! Thanks so much for bringing us these videos, Rick. Having the course pro there was a big bonus - I reckon see if you can make that something you do as often as possible. Good insights, and honours these blokes in a really appropriate way.
Also, links golf: there is just no let up the whole time - it’s both the most frustrating and most satisfying thing imaginable. We have several world class links courses in Australia and I’ve been blessed to have played some of them. Felt like I’d been in a boxing match with Mike Tyson afterwards, but at the same time, like I’d played golf as it was meant to be played.
And one other thing, probably the best I’ve seen you hit driver in a while, Rick - nicely done.
Played amazing could've been easily a couple under par, would be a great idea for you to head up towards Aberdeen or Troon, some hidden gems there including Cruden Bay, loving the videos Rick. We need a Rick vs Guy series!
That looks like a beautiful course - I love links courses with the blind shots and the impact of wind - sometimes the simplest and shortest looking hole because the hardest in the wind and weather. Awesome

Love the content! Got to be honest tho… the putting needs to be worked on my friend.. we can tell you hit the driving range before you play but so much the putting green…. It will come but you have to practice it to get better 🤷🏼♂️ if not it will say the same kinda like it has been the past 4-5 episodes.
I mean he's never been a good putter , don't think it will change now unfortunately
No range at Old Prestwick… makes his ball striking performance even better

Awesome videos this! I'm starting to become a fan of these links courses with holes lined by rockwalls and railway lines. Could easily spend an afternoon watching golfers do their thing and trains going by.
Rick, I played Prestwick in 2007 and totally agree with you. It was a totally fun course to play. The par 3 Himalaya hole, the shot over the large mound to the 17th green a blind shot and the 18th hole were just simply awesome and fun to play. I learned that Prestwick and Troon's membership play a 36 hole event each year by playing Troon's front nine, Prestwicks back nine, Prestwick's front nine and Troon's back nine. All that is separating the two courses is a mobile housing development.

You are by far my Fav guy to watch
and I have been playing for 50+ years
A year and a half ago we purchased a house on the 16th green at Gold Hills
and that gives me the option to walk out in the early evening and putt all I want
So
I came up with a little game
Yes, a Game
and
I call it the 3 Putt Challenge
Balls end up in my yard and pool nearly every day
So, I take 15 to 20 out to the green with me and just toss them all around
then the game starts
I need to 1 or 2 putt from all locations regardless of pin location
Toss them all out again and again
as the hole moves all the time the game changes all the time
As I just got a new putter I find the game is even easier now

That’s real golf right there. I remember the golf channel short special about the train from Liverpool that stops right near the Prestwick (and many others) club house. Hop off the train and play golf. Awesome.

Grew up in Ayrshire and used to love evening golf. As for the links greens - they take a lot of getting used to!

Welcome to Ayrshire. I have lived here all my life we have 44 golf courses and probably the some of the best in the world including the public courses in Troon and Ayr. Great to watch

Remember stopping at Prestwick once and having a look at the course from the top of the dunes. Saw a group of American tourists playing one hole and one of them ended up playing his 5th shot from behind the tee. Yes, he was farther away playing his 5th shot than his drive! First shot topped into the base of a dune and had to play backwards, 3rd shot into the face of the same dune and 4th shot backwards put him behind the tee. Thankfully he reached the fairway in 5.
I love Prestwick. I played there two weeks ago as part of a golf trip to Scotland. A lot of fun. I managed to par 5 and 17! Links golf at its finest

Great video. I was fortunate enough to play Prestwick several years ago. Absolutely stunning course. I knocked it on the railway line off the first, played rubbish most of the way round, but did knock it on the green on 18 (admittedly off the yellow boxes) and sank my putt for an eagle! Great memories.
