0:45 Just a quick tip: Filling the gap between the cladding and surrounding terrain with bark might be a bad idea.
It rains a lot in NZ, and the bark is holding moisture. The wood board close to the ground needs to breathe without bark og soil trapping the moisture inside, making it voulnerable to rot and termites.
It's always so lovely to hear from you Carrie❤ I feel like the bedside tables need a little bigger lamps. Also because the bed itself is very simple and rustic something with a little more glam would balance out the space a lot better❤
This was so enjoyable! I love that chat about perspective- that is something I needed to hear right now. 💕 Carrie you look so pretty! You just light up when the lambs surround you 😍 they are precious! Also, I have never seen a tiny budding apple before! 🥺 Have you considered, in the future, hosting workawayers on your homestead? They could stay in the sleep out and help with the harvesting of all the fruits and work to be done around the land. I did workaway around Europe 5 years ago and it was the most rewarding experience!! 💛
The lamps I think the base is really cute, you could jazz them up with a different shade for them
Agreed! I think the shade is too stark white, getting a different one would really change the look
I feel like some larger lamps for the bedside would be so nice!
You are such a breath of fresh air! Loveee seeing you with the baby lambs 🥰 also love that you prioritize second hand, those finds are the best!
What about a circular wooden light affixed to the wall above the bedside table
Yes I would love to come and stay. Such a cool idea. Work stay situation would be so cool
I am excited to see the garden in full bloom!
For the apples, I recommend apple bread (similar to banana bread), Apple tarts, apple pie, dried apple chips, Apple oatmeal, and apple for salads and garnishes that need a little bit of sweetness. You can also freeze the breads, tarts, and pies, for the winter. Makes a great snack to pop in the oven and reheat during those chilly months! Recommend getting an additional freezer to put out in perhaps your laundry room- so that you can store frozen goods you make from the products in your garden. Also, I know you guys will be expanding your kitchen at some point. Highly highly highly recommend investing in a very large shelving system for the specific purpose of storing canned preserves.
I think the lamps next to the beds need to be much taller so as to cast a better light when reading in bed and also look more in proportion to the size of the bed 😊
Is mulch not going to retain moisture and possibly cause rotting of the shingles if you put it up against the house?
what beautiful surroundings! I love hearing updates about the homestead. I look forward to the lamb cameos every time😭 a dream!
Awesome video ,enjoy the touch up , yes I agree with another comment Carrie you look so beautiful, . Everything is growing the animals look happy and healthy and the homestead is looking good. Looking forward to the sleepout diy .you both have a safe trip. Hello to your whanau family
Hi Carrie, I’ve never done this myself, but a few RUclipsrers, whom I follow, they grow their own grapes, they all made grape juice, they said it was really good for the winter months and very delicious as well. 😊

What a still shot.
Crab Apple jelly is amazing. Delicious on sour dough toast.
Hi Carrie, lovely vid. Looking forward to a new podcast soon - not sure if you have been posting new ones and they’re not appearing or whether you’re too busy with other projects right now.
This felt like a warm hug 🥰
Do you think you would ever consider making the sleep-out into an Airbnb situation? Just curious (:
Carrie while you're in op-shops keep an eye out for Agee mason jars, they're the best brand here in NZ and they are very expensive to buy new. If you want to do you're own preserving it would be a good idea to grab them when you see them.
How does the water tanks work with showering? Do you filter the water in some way? Or just use it the way it is?
I love watching your videos ❤️
What is the song you play at the end of your videos? It’s so nice!
Your definitely going to have quite the bounty from the garden and orchards when go back to NZ. I agree with you about living in a space and taking time to find the right pieces. I was thinking that the grey lamps are sweet ,but I think they are too small for the nightstands in relation to the height of the headboard on the bed. Maybe something a tad taller. I love how the lambs feel so comfortable around you and they are beyond cute. I'm glad to hear you'll be vlogging because I'm not on Insta or Tik Tock.
No response is a response. And it's a powerful one. Remember that.
Enjoy your travels in the states 💓💓 Did I miss the bathroom reno revel?
It’s so weird, in Canada/Ontario we don’t eat crab apples
Also, be careful with the weed mats! They have chemicals in them typically that kills off the healthy microbes in the soil, and will ruin the health of your soil. I know a woman who’s had that issue when she moved into her home with Garden, and it has taken her years to reinvigorate the soil, and she’s still working on it.
A book you might like to read "The Snow Child" by Eowyn Ivey
The lamps look to small next to the bed
Surprised you’re advocating the use of weed mat which is usually made from polypropylene (plastic)
I thought exactly the same - terrible for the planet and garden.

Your husband should have this photo!
Enjoy!! :)) I'm sure you'll have a great time, and I'm looking forward to watching. Do try to avoid covid if you can because they will have a winter surge over there and long covid is still a decent risk even if vaccinated.
❤
Crab Apples, make Crab Apple Jelly just find a recipe.
👌🏻👌🏻
I have a question.. why do people harvest the way they do? IE: they cut cabbage and what not at the base instead of ripping out the entire root? Wouldn't it be easier to just rip out the entire plant also you can plant something else in it's place? I just find it foolish to just something at the base and leave the root in place in the garden.. to me that's a waste of space now because something is still in the same spot.. I'll never understand that...
Leaving them in avoids disturbing the soil structure and the roots will rot down and return nutrients back to the soil.
