I was there. They played Me & Julio after they went off air just for the folks in the theater, with Andrew Bird whistling away of course. What a treat
That is very cool. I saw Paul Simon at what was supposed to be his last big concert in Hyde Park a couple of years ago. It was unforgettable - as was a 2002 concert in Edinburgh which, with the Castle and the Scottish landscape all around was epic in a real sense. But in a way I envy you being there in a more intimate space. All good though, all very good. Keep safe!
I saw him in 1999, right before he went on tour with Dylan. He was testing he new band, Just him & his band in a tiny club in Philadelphia. Only 900 lucky people. $25 ticket. All ages, all sining along. Effing amazing
goddamn
My parents were there
They say it was the best thing ever heard by a man’s ear
Still a man hears what he wants to hear
And disregards the rest .....that really true.
Can't imagine the thrill to be on stage performing The Boxer with Paul Simon. Bucket list musician item.
This group of musicians on stage here just overflow with talent.....and then, oh by the way, you throw in PAUL SIMON.... one of the most talented singer-songwriters EVER....and WOW!!! I feel this is the best arrangement of this song I have ever heard.
Chris Thile and Paul Simon are two of my favorite musicians, playing one of my favorite songs of all time.
Holy sweet baby Jesus the talent on this stage playing on of the most beautiful songs of the 20'th century, No only Paul Simon, but also Sarah Jarosz and Chris Thile. Did I mention holy sweet baby Jesus?
The chorus sounded beautiful and the violin playing the solo was sublime
I'm happy to be old. Life in tbe 70's was the best.
I just wish life AT 70 was near as good...
@@markhelm7426 Well, I'm 64 so when I get there I'll let you know but so far it's better to be old now than young.
Never seen the boys so reverent and afraid to overplay before.
Nice...interesting observation. Reverent and rightly so.
Oh wow these are the words I was searching. Something off here... weird to see Thile sidemanning like this.
lol. Have u notice ? Funny picture. Could be called Reverency...cool
Their reverence is appropriate.
Sign of excellent musicianship when they can step back from the spotlight when it's the right thing to do. Reverence indeed.
A brilliant rendition of a brilliant song.
So moving to see the young and the old working together.
Old? I didn't see anyone old there
Thanks for sharing . The words are contagious and arresting.
The Bookends album was part of my "sixties" and later the "Boxer "was also a part of that time, thanks Paul Simon.Nice to see Simon still carrying the torch.
Chills... wow. Just wow. I started listening to this guys magic as far back as I can remember (prob between 1968-70). This arrangement and lineup really brings out the true essence of this song. Thank you for sharing this with all of us. Truly humbled. Love, love, love this!! ✌️💞
I'm so happy to see this right now.
Is that Andrew Bird as well? What an incredible group of musicians
Yep. and nevertheless all of them much more tense then the habit
No words are adequate. Sublime comes close.
Such a wonderful Poet / Storyteller
Ain't nobody better than Mr. Paul Simon, Mr. Smooth. Probably one of my top 10 faves.
Beautiful. And as Janet Davis said, moving to see young and old working together with such grace.
Oh my that was wonderful!!
Wow! This was great. Wish I could have been there...
Love the harmonies
Great performance. Thank you for posting !
What an incredible ensemble!
Sarah is the best of the best!
This was recorded in the Fitzgerald theatre
First heard this song on what is called a 45 RPM record (with the word 'whore' bleeped by the way). It has never gotten old.
My goodness :) this is so wonderful
Magic
Very nice . Makes me smile as I listen.
Sweet!
Sublime
Wow.
Well that must have made Sarah's day...working with Paul Simon. :-)
Why Sarah in particular?
When asked in interviews which musician she would most like the opportunity to play with, Sarah's usual answer has been Paul Simon
Thanks for the context, jrwasco.
Camera seems to cut Sarah out of most of the wide shots.
1:53 Nice save there. Close call.
He recovered so beautifully that it sounds intentional.
Was the hat that Paul was wearing a tribute to Leonard Cohen ?
Bob dylan the boxer😊
👍💜🧡💛💚🎵🎶
I missed the deep percussion hits
Bob dylan
I'm a huge fan of everyone on that stage and close to worship Paul Simon, however, that was without a doubt the worst live rendition of this song by Paul ever!! Sorry.
Nice for live, BUT....you know
모두가 거짓 거짓 거짓말...lie
PAUL WE ARE MANY NOW LOOKING FOR JOBS! THIS IS A BEAUTIFUL SONG i WOULD SING TO HILLARY CLINTON AND HER LIES LIES LIES....
Oh Pu-lease!!! *rolls eyes*
How dumb a comment that was, Aristizabal
