Here is how I modified the LED mirror spotlights which are a factory option on my 2018 Ford F150 so they would be on whenever I wanted regardless of speed, which is great for off road purposes. Thanks for watching.

Came across this video awhile back and saved it. I totally forgot about it and went through my saved videos and found it. Just did this now and it works! So simple and easy! Did not cut the wire, just found a thin metal clip and cut it to fit. Snapped right in and stayed in there. Im going to test on the road later. Great video! Thank you so much!
Nice!!
I didn't even need a paperclip! I just used the cut wire, stripped the insulation back, and shoved it into the other pin. Thanks for the video!
That's very nice
I 100% expected this to be what was next after snipping the wire. I’m doing this way too 🤣
Awesome!!
After reading some of the comments it turned out you don't need to cut the grey wire! I was so worried about cutting it.
Awesome video by the way.
Yes, it turns out the grey wire doesn’t need to be cut. Thanks for watching, best of luck!
@@Myksgarage So can I just leave the greay wire in place and just add the paper clip ?
Did with a paperclip jump from 1-2 dont need to cut grey wire. Love it
I wish I would have tried that first to avoid cutting the wire, but it has worked great, no problems at all! Thanks for watching
So I don’t need to cut the grey wire?
@@kadenkast392 no. you can leave it.
So all I need is a paper clip?
@@caseylee4013 u find out???
2019 Lariat, worked! No need for the tape, my paperclip fit very snuggly. Took me about 1 min. Thanks for the video
Glad it worked!
So if I use a paper clip and stick it in there with out cutting the wire it will work?
@@richardsiewsankar4213 That's right! No cut wires. I've wanted to do this forever using Forscan but there was no option for that, this is a great work around. I was worried about amp draw but have had zero issues with the battery. Just make sure you don't hit the button with your knee; they will stay on with the truck off.
Awesome thanks! Just did it on mine with a small 1.5” long piece of insulated wire stripped on both ends.
Nice!
I'm glad I found this video. Although this is more low tech and 'possibly' less safe* than in another video, I saved $22.95 + tax + s/h for their jumper. Also, I have hundreds of paperclips.
* I've seen no paperclip issues in comments
Thanks for watching
I have a 2015 F150 so my “wire block” if you will was slightly different but it still works!!! I’m amazed lol this is awesome!
Very nice! I’m glad it worked for you!
Yay, I knew it was gonna be simple And I wasn’t gonna pay for a tiny plug and play harness
Yes!
just a suggestion, if someone has a hot glue gun it might be a good idea to put some over those two holes to keep the clip in.
That's a great idea
Your are the man!!! For making this video
I’m glad this helped! Thanks for watching!
Since those lights are switchbacks, do the signals still work ? Great video !
Yes the signals in the mirrors still work just fine
Did this for my 2017 f250 and didn’t cut the wire. Been good so far. Like you said in some comments I’m also worried about power running back up that wire. But if anything a fuse would pop before any damage can happen. “Hopefully”. Do you have any insight on that wire and if it’s actually okay to bridge it without cutting it?
Should be fine without cutting it
Hell yes! Thanks man!
👍
Thanks a bunch!
👍
Awesome! Be soon doing this to piss people off going up the highway! 👍 Thanks!
Nice!!
Why would this piss ppl off? What kind of person are you that you would even want to? Sigh...SMH
Great idea thats awesome thanks
Thanks for watching
Would this trick work for F150s without the spotlight buttons? I have a 2016 XLT XTR. Just ur regular turn signal mirrors.
Not sure 🤔
Did you try it?
Where can i get them white led? And will it work if i dont have fx4?
These were a factory option, not sure if there's an aftermarket version
Thanks
👍
Does it also enable the cargo light to come on over the 5mph?
I don’t think so
Do you have to have two mirror buttons for this to work?
2 mirror light buttons yes
Where did you get the leds on the mirror lights
Those are a factory option
Great video! Does this also work for a 2015 f150?
If it has the side spot lights, yes
@@Myksgarage Took me less than 10 minutes! Thank you so much for the video! God bless!
Link to the leds for the side view mirrors please?
They are factory installed options
im pissed my truck doesnt have the bottons under the vent like you lmao
Yeah it was a factory option
Who has done this on a single cab, did it work am I missing something
Wiring should be the same, no?
Wiring should be the same, no?
@@Myksgarage I think I figured it out why it won’t work, there is no fuse or connect for the spotlight module on my truck so I have to figure out how to get that in first then it should work hopefully.
So if i turn off my truck and go inside they will eventually turn off when all my other lights turn off correct?
I believe so
Mine didn’t Work when I did this, any recommendations?
Did you get the connector plugged back in securely? What year is your truck?
@@Myksgarage yes, put the paper clip in the same, 2017 f2
Do i have to turn them off everytime i turn the truck off?
Yes, they will stay on until you turn them on
Where could I get the white led light instead of amber color ?
Are the amber lights you're referring to your turn signals?
@@Myksgarage yes
Like instead of amber color a white led light
Help! I can’t find the wiring harness that’s supposed to be above the gas pedal. Can it be in another space? I have a 2022 F-150 hybrid.
Mine was a 2018, maybe they changed it with the new body style
@@Myksgarage Thank you, I’ll keep searching for it. 👍
Any luck I’ve got a 22 looking for it as well
Ford changed it for 21+. I had a 20 the jumper/paper clip worked great. Now I have 21 and the harness isn’t in the same place. Has anyone been able to get this work on a 21+?
Unrelated to the video but mine just stay on for no reason how do I make it turn off
Weird, I’m not sure what would cause that, maybe the on/off button is bad?
How do you do it with the paperclip?
With a paperclip
Any problems down the road?
So far so good, no issues!
@@Myksgarage I just got a 19 with these lights and want to do this. Have you had any issues since you did this?
Can't i just cut the grey wire and stick it in slot #1?
Not sure, it’s worth a shot
whatd you end up doin?
Did you end up doing it?
Yes you can
Why not just remove the gray wire and run 12v switched power to it. Then you cant drain your battery and they will turn off when the truck is turned off.
Good suggestion
Any idea what would be a switched lead in that area?
Any way to make them run amber?
I think you’d have to switch the bulbs to amber
I have an issue with my 2018 raptor. When I press the buttons nothing happens. The lights don’t say on or anything. Does anyone know how to fix this?
Did you check the fuse?
I got a 19 f150 xlt and just tried it and didn’t work. As I already cut the wire before reading any comments. Anyone have any ideas why it don’t work
Is yours wired for the spotlight?
Yeah I got it figured out. The paper clip had plastic on the outside and it wasn’t allowing it to connect right. 😂
@@dawsonhepperhow do you turn them off?
Thanks for the vid 🫱🏼🫲🏽, I have bed lights and I wonder if it will do the same for those lights or if it’s a different module, anyone know?
Good question, I'm not sure where that plug/module is located
Anyone know why it’s not working, I did everything in the video and put the paper in and the on and off switches don’t work
Not sure 🤷
Mine will only turn on at night time
I put paper clip in the wrong block , turned on the lights and both airbags deployed.😂
For Real!!??
Please tell me this is true
Unfortunately i didnt check the comments and did cut the gray wire hahaha
I don’t think it will matter.
Is it necessary to cut or remove the wire? Or can we just jump the wires without cutting or removing it?
I have wondered the same thing. It’s worth trying it without cutting it.
Just tried on my 2017 and you don’t need to cut the wire it’ll work with just the paper clip
@@michaelf1507 I wished I had read your comment about a day ago. I tried to pull the #2 wire out and wind cutting the number #1 wire on the process. Like another RUclipsr had done.
@@michaelf1507 any issues?
Does this work for 21+?
I haven't heard one way or another
Hi , I installed those mirrors on my 2016 xlt and they work , they power fold puddle lights and signals but the spots don’t seem to work I connected the wire on the on and off switch in the air vent and nothing , anyone that seems to know the prob ?
Tough to say what the problem is. Did you connect it to a factory wiring harness?
Yes it’s connected and the two connectors under above the gas pedal are connected as well just that not a lot of people mess with fords back in my town
It’s possible your truck wasn’t pre-wired for these lights, therefore the harness would not be sending power to the spotlights. You might have to wire power to them manually.
Well when I took the stock air vent off the connection was there connected to a ghost outlet then when I put the new vent in with the switches the connector snapped right into the new vent /on and off switch it’s weird idk
I hope you can get it figured out.
Where are the fuses for these 2 wires??
I’m not sure where they are at, I would guess in the fuse box panel? Did you blow a fuse?
Yes I blew the fuse putting it back in place, the lights still come on but not while driving
I think it’s fuse 16 in the fuse box in the engine bay
How can this be done for 2017 F150?
These spot lights are factory installed. This is just a hack so they can be turned on whenever I want
ford annoys me sometimes with these tiny mostly useless options that might or might not be on the same year model truck with the same trim...i'm putting sequiential blinkers in mine anyway,i just wanted to see what the spot light feature was...now i know.
Good luck on your project, and thanks for watching
Do they still time out after about 30 seconds?
No, they can be on as long as you want them, even with the ignition off
Anyone try this on 21-23 year model trucks?
Do they have the spotlights on the mirrors?
@@Myksgarageyes mine does so I think it is still a common feature.
what if you don’t have the on buttons ?
Then it's likely your truck doesn't have those light
Has anyone done this on a 2013 ?
Good question
Did you do it and did it work?
I popped the fuse anyone know which one it is😂🤦♂️
I'm not sure
if you cut the grey wire, why not use that to jump?
I’ve heard from others that cutting the grey wire isn’t necessary. So just need to jump the wires and all done!
Anyone else cig lighter plug in stay on 24/7 now after doing this? Like normally when i kill the ignition it kills the power to the aux plug, but now it continues to run
Interesting, I haven’t noticed that.
Was going to look for an always on 12v hack to charge my phone for a bit when truck is off. Hopefully this will do both.
How do you do it with the paperclip?
Did you watch the entire video?
