This is the one that ended up working for me, and this is NOT what the official instructions say. The official instructions say to hit the Learn button, hold the Home Link button for 3 seconds, and then after repeating the process 3 times, it should work. It didn't. Hitting the Home Link button 3 times consecutively instantly programmed my 2021 Highlander with two separate garage door systems (one of which is 20 years old). Thank you for this!
Thank you so much! Neither the RAV4 or Overhead garage door instructions included the correct instructions for a rolling code door. I was losing my mind until I found this video. I hope you get a raise!
Thank you so much! I had to push the button on the main unit. Now it works great! I’m so glad I don’t have to keep my opener in the car any more and constantly fight against dying batteries.
I spent so much time attempting to locate directions on how to use this feature! I read the manual, I attempting to find information on the HomeLink website.......You explained this in 2 minutes! Thank you! Now, how can I connect my Schlage Connect door lock? Is that even possible?
Wow. Thanks for this! I sure didn't get that out of my instructions. Tried methods from several videos with no joy. Rolling code section is what I needed. Subscribed! Thanks !
Hi Kandice! Great question. This is NOT in all models. In 2021 RAV4s, the HomeLink system is exclusively on the upgraded rearview mirror, which is not factory installed on all trim lines. It is often added as an accessory on these vehicles, though! Thanks for taking the time to comment.
Yes, it still operates when the vehicle is not running so therefore it would be the same as having a traditional garage door opener located in the vehicle :) thank you for your question!
Working when the car is off the worst part about Toyotas homelink system. Our Wrangler has a homelink system also and the vehicle has to be on in order to use the buttons to open the garage. At least gives the feeling of being more secure.
I had to watch a different video. The other video gave slightly different directions for rolling codes: Press learn on opener Press and hold mirror for 2 seconds Release Press and hold mirror for 2 seconds Release Press and hold mirror for 2 seconds. Mine worked with this holding.
Hi Gilbert! Thanks for your comment. I am not sure, I have not tried on that exact model. Be sure that you have the HomeLink system on your vehicle then try the steps as shown in the video. Here is a link that may be able to help: www.homelink.com/
Hi Suny! The Corollas do not typically come with the HomeLink system; however, there may be an option to add an upgraded rearview mirror with a HomeLink system as an accessory to your vehicle!
Good afternoon Kamil. We are not sure what to recommend if this is not working. You might want to pop in to your local Toyota dealership to have them take a look.
The Toyota app has a Valet mode you can turn on which will disable HomeLink and the multimedia system. An alternative way to set valet mode would be via menu>setup> vehicle>valet mode> enter a code to lock the multimedia and HomeLink. There are also parameters you can set to get alerts if the vehicle were to travel out of the designated area.
Hi Jon! You made need to clear your HomeLink system. You can do this by clicking and holding the 1 and 3 button for about 10 seconds until the LED light flashes rapidly green. Then try to re-program your door. Some garage doors require you to be parked in front of the garage and you press the LEARN button on your actual garage door unit then within 30 seconds, return to your vehicle and click and hold one of the HomeLink buttons until the LED light flashes rapidly green. Here is the link to HomeLink's site: homelink.com/program This may be useful for you to troubleshoot as well. I hope this helps!
Unfortunately, that model does not come with home link however it is available as an upgradable accessory which you can ask your local Toyota dealer about.
None of this worked. I have a 2022 Rav 4 exe. I also have a 2022 Camry with homelink. It worked on my camry but I cannot get my rav 4 to program. I have tried all of these instructions and the instructions provided by the owners manual. Pretty frustrating.
Hi there! Typically the easiest and more common way to program the HomeLink system is by using a remote, however you can also use the LEARN button on your garage door opener while the vehicle is parked in close proximity. After locating and pressing the LEARN button on the the opener itself, make your way back to your vehicle within 30 seconds and click and hold one of the HomeLink buttons until the LED light flashes rapidly green. Here is their link for more info: www.homelink.com/ Hope this helps!
AJ the 2021 Venza has a digital rear view mirror with more functionality. The process is different in the Venza. You will need to locate the Homelink button in the mirror menu list and then it will walk you through the process. We will add this to our list for future videos. Thank you
@@belletoyota Thanks for the reply. My Venza is the XLE trim and doesnt have the digital mirror. It has this style mirror instead, so theoretically it should be the same process. Any additional advice on this would be fantastic though!
Hi Brittany! If your vehicle is equipped with the garage door openers, it should be the Homelink system (I am assuming that there is not an after-market one installed). Here is the link to HomeLink's site: homelink.com/program This may be useful for you. Thank you for your comment!

Maybe you should write the instructions for the owners manual. It works and super easy to follow. Thanks.

Thank You So Much! Fast, easy, instructions that work perfectly when followed!!❤
Thank you! Neither other videos nor the owner manual mentioned the car needing to be on. You fixed it for me.
Great to hear! You're very welcome.
Oddly, it worked in my rx350 with the car off.
Best video out there tried this for 2 days , watched the video within 30 seconds had it programed
Just purchased a 2021 Highlander and needed to setup my garage door, and security gate codes to the homelink. This video was very useful 😊

You're welcome! Glad it made it easy for you.
Thank you! Finally a clear video on how to do this!!
Thats for showing how to clear the settings, im selling my van and needed to clear this so nobody could use it to get into my house. Thank you.
This worked out on my wife's 2019 Rav4 Limited for the house and community HOA gate
Thank u. The best directions online I found ❤
Happy to hear that!
This video helped me! The manual direction was different and didn't work.
Are you saying this works for the button on your rearview mirror?
Hold your garage door opener button at the same time as pressing your cars 2:04

I can’t find a home link system for my 2021 RAV4. It’s not in my mirror or where my sunglasses holder is. Do all models have the system?
Hi Kandice! Great question. This is NOT in all models. In 2021 RAV4s, the HomeLink system is exclusively on the upgraded rearview mirror, which is not factory installed on all trim lines. It is often added as an accessory on these vehicles, though! Thanks for taking the time to comment.
Thank you. You covered all the important points.
If my car is parked on my driveway (locked) and someone smashed the window, reached in and held the homelink button, will the garage still open?
Yes, it still operates when the vehicle is not running so therefore it would be the same as having a traditional garage door opener located in the vehicle :) thank you for your question!
How do I program a 2019 Camry XSE in my car to open and shut my garage?
Working when the car is off the worst part about Toyotas homelink system. Our Wrangler has a homelink system also and the vehicle has to be on in order to use the buttons to open the garage. At least gives the feeling of being more secure.

Did both and it doesn’t work. 2022 highlander.

Works for my 2022 Camry XSE Hybrid. Had to use the second method.
Hi Matthew! So glad this video worked for you:) thank you for taking the time to comment!
Is there a way to temporarily disable it before turning car over to a valet service?
The Toyota app has a Valet mode you can turn on which will disable HomeLink and the multimedia system. An alternative way to set valet mode would be via menu>setup> vehicle>valet mode> enter a code to lock the multimedia and HomeLink. There are also parameters you can set to get alerts if the vehicle were to travel out of the designated area.
So I can leave my clicker in the house or my sister can take it to work and it will still work?
Once you have programmed the buttons in your car, that is correct, you will no longer require the garage door remote.
Thank you! Thank you! Thank You!
Great easy video!
Thank you! Pressing the learn button worked !! Yay
You're welcome!
Thanks. Worked on my 23 rav prime.
Was there a trick to it, can't get it to work for my 2024 Rav4. Maybe garage door opener is too old
