The only thing better about old game was the music. Old game usually had better music. But you also have new games like Celeste with killer soundtracks that beat all old games.
New ideas do not thrive in a sanitized, corporatized, air-tight echo chambers. And boards bet safe on an existing IP that's proven to be profitable. Problem is. Talent is gone. And with it, quality itself, it seems.
RE4 Remake was so good, and it showed how remakes can be good and how remakes don't have to be a cash grab, RE4 remake felt familiar yet so different in the way the game plays and I would rather play the remake then the original
To be fair, some games being given a fresh coat of paint and new accessibility for those who don’t want to pirate or emulate wouldn’t be so bad. I would love to experience a remastered Drakengard series, as an example, or maybe a new port of Sly Cooper, similar to what Marvelous Entertainment has been doing for its older Harvest Moon titles in the last few years. Just don’t change any story or dialogue from the old games, and it would be fine.
The Overton window shift (everything moving drastically to the left) is so extreme it's ridiculous. I'm an older guy and am centre left ...always have been, but today's extreme lefties would call me centre right. Not because my views have become more right wing, but because those people have shifted to the extreme left and refuse to acknowledge they are extreme thinkers. Instead it's everyone ELSE who they want to label as extremist.
Another point is *restrictions.* Older games had smaller teams and smaller budgets. To make their games stand out, they had to be creative: stylization, intentional choices, mindblowing solutions which would later end up being used by everyone. I'm not saying that's gone nowadays, but there's a reason why you find this almost entirely in indie games: They don't have the budget, the manpower, or even the time to "bruteforce" their way into their market. So the only way to stand out is to understand your limits and craft on their edges. Beyond a certain amount, throwing ever-enlarging piles of money to a problem won't make it solve better or faster. The opposite, actually. Which is one of the reasons why the AAA market nowadays is "mostly garbage, with exceptions".
the OG Silent Hill 2 is prime example for smart solutions for problem they had when the consoles were weak and they have to add fog to cover the far area and makes consols show the near area with good details
DEI hires is why it takes so long to make a game nowadays. They’re not as skilled so it takes way longer to make games. Also why they’re poorly optimized.
Also feels like every new game is done in Unreal Engine 5 now, which leaves them all having that same look to them. Older games had a more variety of engines that made games more unique.
I beg to differ. Restrictions are predominantly in the developer's minds. If the mind is devoid of creativity, then nothing else will help. And vise versa: a creative mind combined with a proper work ethic - will fairly easily surpass most, if not all other restrictions. The way to stand out always was (and is) - to be good at what you do. And for that, a proper understanding of how the whole mechanism you want to create/re-create works - is a must have.
@@blax100dk You know the funny thing is I'm East Asian and live in a white majority country, and it pisses me off to see forced representation thrown into games for the sake of brownie points. I could give less shit about representation of what idiots perceive as 'my culture' but in reality understand nothing of it, just give me a good game and I'll buy it without hesitation.
Both things are always true somewhere. Stop that old polarisation nonsense. (Although I do understand that polarisation is kind of what this video appears to be about).
Honestly, the ones going so they can pay their bills aren't the problem. You're always going to have people who're decently talented at something but lack passion. That's the majority of humanity. The problem is that those at the top, and the people they put in charge of the projects, are actively hostile toward positive traits. Virtue, morality, beauty, consistency, are all dirty words to these people. And no, it's not just the artists/writers. The managers are the ones who allow this to happen, and the rot travels up the tree. Only rarely do we see a situation like Sega flagellating Creative Assembly for blowing millions on a drag-queen game: typically the people holding the purse-strings are active participants.
I agree completely watch the making of Halo 2 and 3, and compare to now. One example they went to firing range to better understand firearms. Now the guy in charge of designing guns hates guns to an irrational degree that he can't separate fiction from reality.
I think it has more to do with the fact that in these older games with political themes like ''Bioshock'' or'' Fallout New Vegas'', you as a viewer were allowed to have your own opinion about the subject and the game did not enforce you, what your opinion about a subject should be. Some of these modern games think you are too stupid to be allowed to make your own opinion about things, so they have to spell it out for you what the correct opinion should be (propaganda). It gets even worse when the makers of these games do not even take their own game seriously and when the makers even look down upon its audience while the game itself is also filled to the brim with this so called ''millenial humor'' or ''marvel humor'' (constant use of sarcasm, irony, meta humor and outdated memes). These messed up games that ruin their entire story, characters, conflict and character development have existed for a long time already. The first time they appeared were around the Wolfenstein Franchise (The collosus) and Watchdogs 2 when they were noticeable. Ironically these movie budget games will ruin their franchise over time and we can always switch back to Indie titles, double A games, games outside from America (Sun Wukong, Ghost of Tsushima) or old school titles.
Bioshock not so much. Ken Levine was so pissy over Bioshock 2 critiquing communism like 1 critiqued libertarianism that he purposely altered aspects of Bioshock Infinite to forcibly make Columbia more racist: Daisy Fitzroy was originally Irish, hence the name, and the Vox Populi were all white slaves from historically disenfranchised backgrounds like Irish and Italian. But that didn't make Columbia cartoonishly evil enough so Levine insisted that they all had to be made black, and then we need to just not question why such racist people would bring black people along in the first place. Then of course, after making the setup for an infinite number of sequels and spinoffs, Levine broke his toys with the plothole-ridden mess that was Burial at Sea and fired the majority of his staff rather than let 2K show him up and make another sequel better than his work.
@@WhiteManOnCampus Yeah, you are right. Maybe I should have searched for some better examples. Other old school titles where you were allowed to explore a subject better were games like Deus Ex, Half Life, Far Cry 2 or Spec Ops the Line.
Well said. The fact that you were able to even join the Caesars Legion is pretty great, in terms of player choice that is. Nowadays, a faction like the legion and the storm cloak rebellion would be “problematic”.
I rebought a PS3 2 years ago and has been my main platform to play games to date. Finding games I missed years ago and having more fun than I have had in the past 10 years
That's what I did. I bought a PS3 so I could finally play Demon's Souls, and that led to me trying to get all these amazing PS3 exclusives that originally came out when I was too young to properly experience and appreciate them.
If you didn't by any chance play some of these games i recommend you to play them in no particular order. Puppeteer (PSN Store) not sure if that is available on the store, there are other ways to get the game if you have jailbreak God Of War Games Resistance 1-3 Infamous Infamous 2 Killzone 2 Killzone 3 Ratchet and Clank Games (i really like these platformers) Demon Souls Gran Turismo 5 (if you like sim racing, well somewhat sim) There is probably more games worth to play, but i finished these, and i think they are worth the time,at least imo.
My literal experience was this: -Maybe I'm out of touch with the gaming industry, maybe I'm growing up and I'm getting tired of games *_Played 2016 Titanfall 2_* -Yup, it's the industry that is making bad games. The average release date of games I played is grown older as time passes by
I'm playing through the Arkham games again at the moment and forgot how awesome these games were. Just finished Arkham City and no way these devs could make a character these days like Catwoman is in City, with her deliberately sexualized outfit, how she moves and how she speaks, because that's how she gets the upper hand on distracted enemies. Such a shame they dwelled into identity poltics, live service and other crap with their last two games.
@@_MaZTeR_ Arkham may be one of the best Batman games there is, I heard great things from Injustice, but watching Arkham gameplay is mindblowing by the level of detail and events happening, it's just a fun game, made by passionate people. Modern companies cannot mimic that. And not only Catwoman, the downgrade of modern gaming feels substantial in every aspect of it, from gameplay mechanics, to optimization, to marketing, to interfaces, to art direction, to writing, and so on. It's truly a shame, and the only thing we can to do as consumers is be still, continue to vote with our wallets, and try to encourage AAA out of the pit they dig themselves in before they go bankrupt. Although we can bring a horse to water, but not force to drink it. We can always have solace that good games and the good memories of them will never be destroy by them.
To build off the politics in video games part: I recently watched a video on how people like political art and not activism in movies and tv shows, I think it applies here as well
@@skyriminspace Well people not realising that we are all part of the activism against humans rights being removed. Is because people don't know what is what and what they them selves fall under. People who needs to bend down to superior power and kiss the feet of his little group. Human rights being removed is a serious issue that will snowball if it's started. So LGBTQ+ rights can not be removed. Even if you are a cis straight guy you would have to be against it. Cause in the end. Even the cis straight guy will lose their rights. Video games are getting destroyed by all these politics. But I am genuinely excited about Kingdom Come Deliverance 2. Warhorse studios truly cares about historical history in medieval Bohemia, and they don’t bow down to all these soft idiots shouting “racist” at them.
CD Projekt Red had to defend why The Witcher 3 had all white people in it minus a few exceptions which was because it made no sense for cultures and races x, y and z to be there in that time period. Games used to critic political sides, now they try to impose a side to you, and it is usually the stupid one. Good ideas doesn't need to be forced at you, if they have, those are not good at all.
That's actually a pretty good comment about politics in entertainment. Being critical of either side at least always stimulates critical thinking, which is good. Promoting a side discourages critical thinking.
@@michielvincent3988 yeah, people are more concerned about “who” said instead of “what” they said. They are promoting violence? Of course I am against violence, unless it is against the other side…. This way of “thinking” applies to most topics nowadays.
It's always those who think they hold the truth who scream, yell, most often. As if they had just discovered the world. Unfortunately, by making all sorts of amalgams, by shortening the complexity of the world into an idiotic and stupid Manichaeism, we end up with excesses like sweet baby inc., LGBTQ, wokism... However, deep down, wokism is not a bad movement in itself: wanting to represent more people is a noble goal. But the way they try to show this diversity of life is simply much too forced. It is not by changing the sex of the characters that you intend to represent diversity; it is not by putting LGBTQIA+ characters that you intend to represent diversity; it's not by putting blacks, Arabs, Chinese, Pakistanis, Japanese, Native Americans and whatnot that you intend to represent diversity... Subtlety goes over their heads, and that's why it's crude propaganda: they already don't hide it, it favors a way of thinking without being able to question the methods they use to make their point. They don't accept any idea contrary to theirs, no debate can be had without there being an atmosphere of condescension on the part of the interlocutor...

What I don't understand is. The companies want to use nostalgia to make money.... But every time they change something it makes people not trust remakes more and more. So then you stop makeing money... So why do they keep doing it.
Your guess is as good as mine. But there's no creativity and fun in games anymore. That's why Indie game companies are kicking the veteran game companies butt.
Older games had a purity to them, people who loved games made games. Then things got very profitable, then there became dedicated education to become a " game dev" And it lost its purity for and love for the media to become generic slop for " everyone" instead of for those who loved it. Shit really went down hill when big money got involved
Neo Tribes, a Cyberpunk sourcebook, 1995 "It is now accepted among historical scholars that in the decades before the Collapse, America suffered from the sickness of racism and "cultural identity." Everyone wanted to be seen as special. Every group had to be "equal" or preferably better than its neighbors, and fought to protect its "special" rights. If anyone had something that someone else wanted, they were painted as racist, sexist, elitist, or worse. This divisive "me first" attitude eventually tore the fabric of American culture apart and caused it to self-destruct in a fireball of competing ideologies none of which truly recognized each other's validity. The biggest issue is DEI hires not only push a social agenda, they are incompetent. BG3 pushed the progressive agenda. But their dev team is excellent.
Exactly. There's nothing wrong with video games having progressive thinking as well as being LGBT friendly as Baldur's Gate 3 is a prime example of this having those things yet being successful, beloved by gamers, won many game awards including GOTY 2023 and was great seller. That was a great game because at the end of the day the agenda was to make an amazing game that happens to have progressive thinking behind it and had a great, passionate team behind it, not because it revolved almost entirely on DEI at the exclusion of competent game design. However what's frustrating is that this has been completely ignored by the "The Gamers TM" crowd who harp almost entirely on "woke" stuff to an insane degree and cares very little for games in terms of design and writing, only about pushing their goddamn agenda, ironically not that different from SBI. Like what do they even say about Stellar Blade in terms of gameplay and who the female protagonist is in regards to character? Nothing because they focus entirely on objectifying the woman purely on sex appeal and nothing else because she is "sexy" and that's apparently all that matters, not the character and how she's written which goes to show their blatant sexism and apparently that women must be super sexy all the time or else they are "ugly". Women are not people to them, just sex objects, as much as minorities are not people of their own to SBI, just objects to push their agenda in a way so pandering it's insulting.
A game about dragons orcs and flying squid monsters is progressive? How lmao let me make a super hard guess what that means because Republicans aren't predictable
@@skettinbutter3635 Character creation, females more prevalent as martials, no ethnic consistency as races, an actual tranny in the game, etc. Just because you lack the ability to recognize it, doesn't make it disappear to cognitively functional gamers.
The problem with modern games is they have three factors that hold them back. Greedy suits and activists in both development and “journalism.” Right now the overall best game I have played in the last 5 years is Lies of P. It did what From Software has not done with their games. The story was front and center and could be felt in the level design, combat, and art style. I highly recommend if you haven’t played.
Lies of P is my favorite souls like game, above even Miyazaki's games. It's underrated compared to Miyazaki's games and it's only because his name is not in the credits... Had he made that game people would put it above most of his works consistently. Seriously excellent game.
Bayonetta 1 and 2, And DMC 3-5 are the best action games of all time in my opinion. Not to mention that Dante and Bayonetta are such iconic characters to play as.
I think a huge part of modern games is the line between "engagement" and "fun" Not many modern games focus on fun, but instead focus on engagement time measurements
It was always about sales. You have more indy developers now than ever before working on games as passion projects for no money. The ability to create art in the form of a game is actually more accessible than it ever was.
Gaming since the 80s, I remember when video games weren't taken seriously by any major corporate interest except for Mattel. They had to be fun and entertaining in order to be even marginally profitable. When EA, et al., turned gaming into a multi-billion dollar enterprise by adding exploitative loot boxes and cash shops, and consoles (XBox, PS, etc.) dragged the technology down to meet the lowest common denominator, everything exploded - popularity, money, reach, influence. And of course that sort of explosion always attracts ideologues who want their agenda inserted into everything.
consoles were always the "lowest common denominator" in terms of tech, but then and now its more affordable than a great gaming PC (Pc gamer here by the way)
*these past 2 years ive been going back beating all the older games I never had the patience for and its been a really interesting experience. Fallout NV, Bully, GTA San Andreas, Splinter Cell Conviction, Killer Is Dead, Saints Row 3, RDR, Tekken 6, Assassins Creed 2 all still hold up and are better than every game that's come out this year* 👌
I think triple A games mainly went downhill after 2018-19. During the mid 2010s we were still getting quite a lot of good triple A titles but ever since 2020 there have only been a handful.
It seems really funny and interesting that the general overall quality of games completely took a massive nosedive at the start of the 2020s after both COVID hit and the 9th generation supposedly started. It makes me glad I didn't go higher than PS4/Xbox One/Switch.
Just like the last video I watched on this channel: You completely resonate with my opinion on these issues. Your argumentation is very sound, and you don't sound overly aggressive when you criticize all these modern day trends. Very good video, man. Keep up the great work 👍
Got a PS1 emulator just a week ago and have been replaying the games from my childhood. Somehow they are just as engrossing as they were when I was a kid.
Me too replaying PS1 games. Metal gear solid,Medal Of Honor 1999 and Underground,Gran Turismo,Silent Hill, Resident evil 1,2,3, Spiderman,Final Fantasy are such goat games that aged really well.
The best part of playing an older game is that the pricing can be under $20 for most games over 2 years old. That is much better than paying $70 for a game that was rushed and not working day one.
Very well said. I agree 100%. I am a black guy, and I am tired of all this woke garbage. I have been a gamer since I got my first game system upon release, the Atari 5200. Lately I have been more excited about new indie titles for retro systems like Shantae Advance for the GBA and all the great new Sega Genesis games than I have been for many modern "AAA" games. Many of these modern retro games are made from fans for fans and are made with passion. Not even modern remakes are safe. A person in the comments here said it perfectly and I agree. When I hear a remake has been updated for a "modern audience" I also close my wallet. These reasons are why I am a retro gamer and physical game collector. Many digital games can be changed with a few keystrokes, and I don't think the phasing out of physical media is an accident. As a kid I would l have never thought that in the future with advanced hardware and software tools the downfall of video games would be forced woke ideology. How sad. If we want this to stop we have to continue to vote with our wallets.
Playing through the Mass Effect trilogy for the first time and its only further depressed me over the state of modern gaming for the modern audience. V_V
why? because of the butt shots on ME2? you are playing it for the first time, its just the same game but without a cinematic and better graphics Last year we got BG3, this year we got Metaphor Refantazio along with a lot of GREAT AAA games...Saying everything is woke its becoming as tiring as the woke culture
Older games were a roller coaster. A fun spectacle that you pay up front and get off when done. Newer games are a treadmill with a TV on it. You stay on until totally spent.
Yep, I just look for some key red flags - modern feminism, LGBT degeneracy, DEI, and particularly if you see DEI consultants working with a developer, that's an automatic no-buy. Ultimately, we have been far too tolerant of this stuff - that is what has led us to where we are today. Need to draw the line and reject it moving forward to start the healing process.
Amen to that. To me, "modern games" ended about 10 years ago. Indie games, mods/making mods and oldschool classics. You can't go wrong on that road. All that modern crap can burn in Hell. And i'll light the match🔥🤘.
Assassin's Creed series is a good example of how to show diversity. When I play Origins, the game didn't feel forced. Plus, Bayek had good voice acting. Diversity is done best when it comes naturally.
lollipop chainsaw was done right. Initially they wanted to do a full remake; until the fans overwhelmingly said they wanted a remaster. So that's what we got: a perfectly amazing remaster (though sadly without the original soundtrack).
The best thing about old games is that you can run on far less powerful hardware. They all are fun. They don't demand powerful hardware unlike games today who demand they most powerful hardware just to run normal.
I don't even have to watch the video on this one - title alone does the job. :P But of course, I'll watch it for you, November. Rock solid, homie. Rock solid.
PS4 is my newest console, which I have about 3 or 4 years now. Backlog of over 200 games. I also have a 360 with a backlog of over 100, and I am in the midst of rebuilding a PS2 collection of all my old favourites. Along with GOG on my laptop, this gives me access to everything from the PS1 generation right up to the PS4, including great PC games across that timespan. At 42 years old, I feel I have enough there, along with the long list of games I still want to buy for all three consoles and the laptop, to potentially satisfy my gaming needs for the rest of my life. I enjoy replaying my favourite games, and have hundreds I have yet to play, so I feel absolutely zero draw towards the current gen consoles and games. The best games that I can't currently play are nearly all sequels or reboots of games I already have, so I can already experience something very similar without bothering with a new console, eg; Dead Space Remake, Alan Wake 2, Stars Wars Fallen Order sequel, Final Fantasy Rebirth and so on... There's nothing significant enough to entice me.
@stevenedwards8353 Yes I also have my favourites from the 8 and 16 bit era on my laptop. Recently been replaying Skitchin and Universal Soldier for the Genesis, and Super Mario World for the SNES. When you're not a snob about old school graphics and mechanics, the options are truly endless.
I recently decided to go back through my steam and PS libraries and play those games from 2009-2012. It truly was a great time. Splinter Cell: Blacklist, Call of Juarez: Gunslinger, Spec Ops the Line, Singularity, Killzone 2 and 3, Infamous 1 and 2, Mafia 2, Dead Space, so on and so forth. There are also a lot of games I never go to, but downloaded for future playthroughs: Bullet Storm, Hard Reset, Styx, Thief, Murdered: Soul Suspect, etc. (I have well over 1500 games in my steam library, but I've played about 10% them!) No XP for the most part, no battle pass, no storefronts, minimal skill trees or none at all. Just a good story and fun gameplay. Hell, I might even fire up New Vegas for the first time!
Yeah, and if you look back in time you see that up until the 8th gen, remasters or remakes were pretty rare too. That's because they were confident in their newest stuff at the time, and were still coming up with new ideas and concepts, they didn't need to fall back on nostalgia.
That's why I love the Steam Deck; its the best way to play those older games you mentioned, including emulation and Indies, where the real creativity is nowadays.
I don't trust steam, they're delisting certain games and starting to cave. A better investment would ba a top line gaming laptop. Far more versatile, can play every steam game, has all the same emulation potential etc. Yeah it's a bit more pricey, but it can also be used for so much more. If you ask me, peak gaming is ps2,3,4, xbox-xboxone and a gaming laptop and/or pc. Handhelds are kinda an overpriced gimmick. Yeah nintendo and steam have good libraries, but their handhelds are kind of redundant when a laptop can do the same thing then some.

Metal Gear games are just that good that even woke don't want to mess with it. 😂 Hideo now though is hurting though. Bro wishes he made them now and not forever ago. 😢
They never had a political message beyond "war bad". Even the supposed anti-nuke messaging was contradicted in later titles, with conventional nuclear warfare being used as an active deterrent and giving bonuses in PvP FOB missions. The reason the Metal Gears were a problem isn't that they could launch nukes, it's that they were untracable.
I'm a right-winger still enjoying New Vegas to this very day. Literally: it's the weekend, and I spent all day playing New Vegas. I ain't buying any of that modern slop. I can decide for myself what to think, thanks, and anyway, video games are supposed to be escapism. I don't want real-world garbage shoved in my face, whether I agree, disagree, or am completely ambivalent to it. I want fantasy, with only a foundation set from real expectations.
Game development has also never been gatekept. There weren't many women in dev teams in the early days only due to diverging interests. Racial diversity was related to racial proportions and people's interests. Still, it was a woman called Roberta Williams that co-founded a company that was probably THE most influential and successful company in the 80s/early 90s: *Sierra Entertainment* (later rebranded to Sierra On-Line). She and her husband Ken Williams founded Sierra and developed and published an enormous amount of games, pioneered whole genres, and had plenty of franchises: Ultima, Space Quest, Police Quest, Kings Quest, Leisure Suit Larry, Phantasmagoria, Hoyle's Book Of Games, and many more. They were even the original publishers of Half Life. They probably hold a world record for the amount of games with their company's name on them. Seems to me that Roberta Williams was pretty much the queen of the gaming industry for over a decade, in the times when women didn't really get into game development. The advent of the RTSs and FPSs, and full 3D graphics were the only reason Sierra waned. Now,... despite all that, I don't think wokes know who the hell she is. She was cute af too, btw.

I think in terms of characters and stories we've seen almost everything done to perfection. It's like LOTR for fantasy movies, you know no matter what, that next fantasy flick will not even come close to it. In gaming, almost every genre has its own LOTR by now which you know will never be topped. For me the only thing left that will be able to blow me away is a fully simulated AI controlled world that reacts and interacts with me dynamically, realistically and completely unscripted. Everything below that is neat at best.
And you know what? It's great that there are not too many new games to be excited about. We can finally play many of those older games that we missed out on for various reasons, whether it's because we were too young or too busy or just didn't know some game or game series existed. I'm definitely going to enjoy Doom Dark Ages or Metroid Prime 4 next year but on the other hand, I can finally get my hands on older Fallout games and those Nier games that are waiting to be played in my library.
Regarding detail, i wanna mention In Halo 1, on my first playthrough a few months back, I was lost in the rocks on mission 2. I couldnt find my way back to the Marines. That was, until I paid attention to the firing noises, looked around, and noticed bullet shells rolling down the cliff. Yes, the bullet shell decals effect, rolling down the rocks and hill. So i figured "Maybe this will help?" And followed the trail, and boom, I found the Marines in 5 seconds. I was blown since I can't recall the last time in a game where something like that happened.
I respect RE remake though. They did it because people wanted it and they made RE 7 and Village before making the RE4 remake that everyone wanted which again, i respect a lot.
I'm still using Radeon Drivers 23.11.1 (25.10.2023). Reason is very simple: there are no game(s) down the pipeline that has my attention. The newest game I'm (trying) to play is Kingdom Come: Deliverance. Before that, Resident Evil VII: Biohazard and Prey 2017. What is the best single player campaign set in WWII, IMO? Call of Duty: World at War. It's very gritty, nasty and horrifying (for a video game), because that's the reality of war. Ever since 1937, more civilians and other innocent people were and keep getting killed over the actual servicemen. Some of these glimpses can be seen in World at War. When looking at the average Hollywood war movies and video games, not only that they're playing safe, but outright glorifying the devastation that war brings. We (or character in a movie) sees an solider that speaks in language that isn't English? Just slaughter him and make a joke about it. What these media isn't portraying correctly in these circumstances? The median age of a soldier (any side) is 21. Many of them were a teenagers. Some underage. In this genre, actors that are portraying are in their late 30s & early 40s. Reality couldn't have been much different. Even someone with rank of captain wasn't over 27.
I say this as someone from a former communist country, Poland (it wasn't a long period in our history but it did enough damage), as my father taught me: Always pay attention to the content you watch or listen to, never take it for granted. If such a big company, with such huge money and influence, tries to introduce changes that from a layman's perspective only introduce losses... and they don't take them into account, pushing their vision of change further... then we have an example of an action that contradicts the principles of democracy. This entity behaves like a typical communist body that finances its propaganda without taking into account any criticism. On the contrary, those who criticize them will be eliminated because you don't argue with communism, communism is "just" accepted because as an individual you have no rights, you don't exist. The collective suffers together, which only strengthens it when the elites (such as the owners of Black Rock) eat caviar and wash it down with wine in their castles stuffed to the brim with gold. They will not share their wealth, they will not deny themselves exquisite dishes... but you must drink dirty river water and be grateful that you can serve them. You as a collective have anything what propaganda tells you, you have no right to think independently and reject anything, to oppose their vision. You are part of a big machine, just a screw that can be easily replaced and thrown into the corner. Black Rock shows us with their activities that their vision of a global government (companies like them will pull the strings) has nothing to do with democracy and capitalism. This is just the beginning, soulless commune... this is our future. Which is sad because I personally believe that only in a group can you introduce any real changes, as an individual you don't have as much power as a greater number of hands. So it seems natural to me to act with people, together, but the basis is free will, which doesn`t exist in communism. Another depraved ideology... It is alarming to see how game creators are treated, who once had freedom to create, could tell the story they wanted without visible censorship. They talked about politics, philosophy, religion... the script of the best games was better than many a movie today, they went so far ahead with their vision. Today they are already limited, the question is whether they do it of their own free will or are forced. I would like to believe that there are those who destroy brands as we know them because they had no choice. This would be a more beautiful fairy tale to understand. To sum up... we live in a time of change. The elite will not change their vision, our rebellion will only prolong the inevitable. The change will be the loss by ordinary people of free will, something that characterizes each of us. The elite wants slavery back.
The elite have always hated the British Empire for ending slavery. Where'd the Yanks get their funding and manpower to fight the War of Independence? It started there, even if the Yanks themselves didn't know it.
Solid video! I would agree the glory days of gaming are behind us. As someone who’s been playing games my entire life, a lot of the recent developments are starting to kill my love of my favorite hobby.
Great video. You make a good point about some older games having political themes but they were handled far better than now. They respected gamers back then. They were also just more fun to play, gameplay wise.
Diversity hiring brought in a bunch of tourists with no passion for gaming who don't understand, nor want to understand for that matter, the appeal of the medium. I think that's largely the problem and why gatekeeping is absolutely neccessary.
All older games are in trouble cause of remakes and modernization. I give no fucks about Western gaming anymore ive gone full eastern games I rather pay 2k in gotcha then give any western studio my money
I'm GenZ but i like Old retro games from NES,Sega genesis,Snes,GBC,GBA and Game gear.i prefer older games because it doesn't need an internet to play it and the games are complete.
A lot of those old games benefit significantly from patches, too. (If you get into PC retro gaming, you'll also need to do a fair bit of patching) The problem was never with needing patches, the problem used to be corporate greed, and is now socialist revolutionaries.
Marvelous Entertainment-the developers behind old-school Harvest Moon titles, have been remastering and rereleasing near-identical versions of their best selling older titles with a fresh coat of paint and quality of life upgrades. If companies would do that with their older titles and stories, I wouldn’t be as upset about the lack of newer games, at least for the short term. Gaming has been around since about 10 years before I was born (I’m in my 30s), and I’d love to be able to experience what those before me did without having to download emulation software.
Man. This is masterful content. You clearly know what's up and I'm willing to bet much of what you referenced went completely over some people's heads (ESG, DEI, Blackrock). Extremely well done.
Come on - Baldur's Gate 3 and Black Myth Wukong?!?!?! Try them - they got: 1. Rich environmental story telling 2. Beautiful art direction 3. Compelling narratives 4. Badass memorable characters 5. GOTY aura (or just GOTY)
Nah, Baldur's Gate 3 is slop compared to other CRPGs. It's just decent at best - it only SEEMS great because all the other slop is so much sloppier. There's never any need to settle.
I'm excited for Path of Exile 2. those are still some honest devs which are still massive geeks playing games ,and doing their best for other gamers (and as fairly as possible too)
You're right on the money. I'm reminded of Star Trek from the 60s, and The Next Generation from the 80s and 90s. Virtually every writer and producer was left-wing, but they weren't 21st century "progressives". They were OG liberals, and it was possible to have a conversation with them. Their messaging was present, but not all of the time. When it was there, it was often subtle, and not done in a way to browbeat and demean viewers who didn't agree with them, politically. What they prioritized above all, was building a world with compelling characters, and taking us along for the ride, with top-notch storytelling. Very rarely, did they miss the mark. I think video games of old, were much like this. Above all, the creators wanted to make games their entire audience would love to play. Not just the segment who didn't deviate from their ideology.
Older games were Art, newer games are a product
The only thing better about old game was the music. Old game usually had better music. But you also have new games like Celeste with killer soundtracks that beat all old games.
@@84bombsjetpack23 But there's far more better old games than new ones. We never used to have $200 million dollar games that would flop
And modern games are about graphics over art style but the point is that good graphics don't make a perfect game.
With that kind of polarisation you may as well quit altogether. 😂
Yes!
Remakes, rebirths, remasters re-forges, you forgot the most important re.........resell.
New ideas do not thrive in a sanitized, corporatized, air-tight echo chambers. And boards bet safe on an existing IP that's proven to be profitable. Problem is. Talent is gone. And with it, quality itself, it seems.
and retard. f ck you sony
@@RGisOnline Yeah RE4 is the rare good remake example. But look at Horizon Zero Dawn.. it's just an excuse to resell and hike up the price.
Games used to be about fun and creativity, now it's about forcing a real life message or just milking your wallet dry with cookie cutter experiences.
Subscription-based asset flips is basically all most games are now.
Polarisation again.
😂@@HickoryDickory86
My wallet rarely opens these days and only for quality.
Working under restrictions is also (generally) how _skill_ is developed.
the OG Silent Hill 2 is prime example for smart solutions for problem they had when the consoles were weak and they have to add fog to cover the far area and makes consols show the near area with good details
If the mind is devoid
of creativity, then nothing else will help. And vise versa: a creative mind combined with a proper
work ethic - will fairly easily surpass most, if not all other restrictions. The way to stand out always
was (and is) - to be good at what you do. And for that, a proper understanding of how the whole
mechanism you want to create/re-create works - is a must have.

Old gaming industry had employees who were passionate about their job. Nowadays we have employees who goes to their job "so they can pay their bills".
You'd be surprised by how many projects in the past weren't "passion projects" also.

Sucker Punch Productions, the ones who made Ghost of Tsushima are from the US, it's not a game from outside of America...

Not many modern games focus on fun, but instead focus on engagement time measurements
The only major that seems to still focus on fun, IMO, is Nintendo although they seem to be going woke too.
Gaming has already peaked, it was great back in the mid 2000s and early 2010's too.
Now they are sales objectives not an art form.
It went downhill the moment women, faggots and activists wanted to work in the entertainment industry. Like that bitch ass hoe anita sarkeesian.
jesus christ that Lara....
That shit was funny as fuck
Just like the last video I watched on this channel:
You completely resonate with my opinion on these issues.
why? because of the butt shots on ME2? you are playing it for the first time, its just the same game but without a cinematic and better graphics
Last year we got BG3, this year we got Metaphor Refantazio along with a lot of GREAT AAA games...Saying everything is woke its becoming as tiring as the woke culture
It's because of this that games like Stellar Blade need and deserve more support
Play Wukong, it's pure fun.
not only wukong a south korea/china games are just what we want and stay away from western aaa bs
If you can can get over the the traversal stutter and performance issues
Better than From Software's trash
Older games were a roller coaster. A fun spectacle that you pay up front and get off when done. Newer games are a treadmill with a TV on it. You stay on until totally spent.
Yep, I just look for some key red flags - modern feminism, LGBT degeneracy, DEI, and particularly if you see DEI consultants working with a developer, that's an automatic no-buy. Ultimately, we have been far too tolerant of this stuff - that is what has led us to where we are today. Need to draw the line and reject it moving forward to start the healing process.
Waaaah women and colored people waaaaah
Amen to that. To me, "modern games" ended about 10 years ago. Indie games,
mods/making mods and oldschool classics.

I agree. Remasters and remakes are creative impotence.
lollipop chainsaw was done right.
These days, I am more into 7th gen gaming. I am collecting old pc games.
It's a little surprising that no one has attempted to give Fink a strong talking to, at this point.
He doesn't seem like the type to listen to other people.
New Vegas is the best entry in that entire franchise. Enjoy!

My gaming Backlog never looked so good before. 😂💯
i agree with everything he said, beside the "old" part, while these games are "less recent" i wouldnt consider them old
pac-man is old, snake is old, 2D wolfeinstein and doom are old, the original system shock is old (the first 2 games i mentioned came out 10-15 years before the others I mentioned)
Ghost of Tsuchima, GOW 2018/Ragnarok, Elden Ring, Lies of P, Steller Blade and Black Myth Wukong are the only games that I've truly liked in recent years.
Yeah many of them are made by Eastern Devs.
Dragon's Dogma 2 man. Bruh. Did you play DD2 and the first? Super fun. The theif is easy mode. Just fyi. 😅
Old? But Witcher 3 released last year?
Oh shit, it's almost 10 years old....
i play older games too, one of the reasons is that newer games focus to much on social trash and Hyperconnectivity.
in older games i click play and i am playing, newer games i have to navigate prompts and menus to get something.
I remember the metal gear series being major political but never woke or going out of its way to drill the audience with the new attitude of your bad and should feel sorry for it.
Metal Gear games are just that good that even woke don't want to mess with it. 😂
Hideo now though is hurting though.
I can confirm. I still play Borderlands 2 to this day
I'm a right-winger still enjoying New Vegas to this very day.

Space Marines 2 is one of the only games in the past year I’ve genuinely enjoyed playing to actually play. I play destiny 2 but it’s slowly dying for me especially ever since they’ve changed it so much I can barely recognize each class
Stay away from DEI games especially ones that Sweet Baby Inc has worked on.. .Black Myth Wukong is a good game, that is what I am playing now.
@@stevenedwards8353 well, if you watch the history of the two guys who started Game Science, I do not believe the CCP had anything to do with it. The games being made in the west are more garbage than good. I won't give them my money unless they are DEI free, simple as that. Wukong is a really hard game for an old guy like me so it will last me a while. Thanks for your input.
Space marine 2 had to feel like a kid again and I can’t stop playing it
“Tony hawk pro skater 1 AND 2! Whooo!” 😂
Just discovered your channel, and boom, a new video
And you know what? It's great that there are not too many new games to be excited about.
We can finally play many of those older games that we missed out on for various reasons, whether it's because we were too young or too busy or just didn't know some game or game series existed.
I'm definitely going to enjoy Doom Dark Ages or Metroid Prime 4 next year but on the other hand, I can finally get my hands on older Fallout games and those Nier games that are waiting to be played in my library.
The only recent game I enjoyed was Ghost of Tsushima for me anyway but apparently its sequel is contaminated with the same disease of recent games
Lol women in video games got you in your feels is crazy
Regarding detail, i wanna mention
In Halo 1, on my first playthrough a few months back, I was lost in the rocks on mission 2.
Last 3 games I was excited to buy are Sparkingzero, Space Marine 2 and BG3
Im still rocking out with sim city 4
@stevenedwards8353 I agree, I don't condone torrents those are the worst especially for ea games
Hey NH. As always great video. Would you ever do a video on why you make videos on RUclips? I’ve always wanted to know.

Fantastic Video and thank you for mentioning the SOURCE of these issues, as most people forget it or never mention it.
I'm GenZ but i like Old retro games from NES,Sega genesis,Snes,GBC,GBA and Game gear.i prefer older games because it doesn't need an internet to play it and the games are complete.
Go play every single Halo made from Bungie on Legendary difficulty, bro. Do it!!!
Or did you already? 😅
Halo 2 anniversary legendary is also damn good. Probably the only good thing 343 gave us tbh.
A lot of those old games benefit significantly from patches, too. (If you get into PC retro gaming, you'll also need to do a fair bit of patching)
The problem was never with needing patches, the problem used to be corporate greed, and is now socialist revolutionaries.

Try them - they got:
1. Rich environmental story telling
2. Beautiful art direction
3. Compelling narratives
4. Badass memorable characters
5. GOTY aura (or just GOTY)
BG3 is just DOS2 reskinned & horny.
They are better than any of From Software's games
Nah, Baldur's Gate 3 is slop compared to other CRPGs. It's just decent at best - it only SEEMS great because all the other slop is so much sloppier. There's never any need to settle.
