The new DJI MINI 3 uses the same standard and plus batteries as the DJI MINI 3 PRO. The main difference is that the MINI 3 does not have the obstacle sensors like the MINI 3 PRO. Using these sensors actually consumes more energy from the batteries. In this video, I put the Mini 2, Mini 3 and Mini 3 Pro side by side in a hover test. How much flight time will the MINI 3 achieve?

Because dji is lazy to fix something that Google requires to keep it on
Because it’s 249 grams and has a massive batty. The entire drone is a battery with propellers.
The bigger batts make it weigh more than 250grams for sure.

Hi, thank you for the test. IMO turning off the OA on the Mini 3 Pro will not increase flight time. The OA electronics is still working even when the OA is turned off. No battery use for QA with the Mini 3 and maybe OS2 instead of OS3 use less power.
I was also curious about this. I wonder if they have an entirely different chipset in this drone vs the pro model to help with efficiency
Only one way to find out. Do another side-by-side test with OA turned off on the Pro

The OA is still technically running even when it’s set to off. The drone just doesn’t stop you from crashing. Myth busted
If it were as simple as toggling OA on/off, why wouldnt DJI allow the option and market the MIni 3 pro with increased flight times?

@grossi46 Mini 2 has a gimbal drop issue in sport mode due to a hardware flaw, Mini 3 fixed this problem

I have gotten a max of 39min flying around with my mini 3, kind of funny some people say there getting 45+mins out of there mini 3. Not going to happen in real world 39 to possibly 40 is max on a good day. Not bad flight time at all though and the mini 3 is still king of flight time as far as the minis go even with the release of the mini 4.
I’ve found that any of the advertised flight time by DJI is about 20% less then stated. Seems like these are the same. 👍🏼

Hover stability is affected by the surface under the drone. Maybe the lines of the sidewalk to grass and sidewalk to parking lot helped the other 2 drones? Launch a Fimi X8 Mini or Exo Mini and try this test, you'll never complain about hover stability again from DJI or Autel drones! Hahaha!
Good review on flight time and yeah more flight on mini 3 pro if you turn off avoidance sensory when in the air above surrounding objects. I bet using a 3 blade prop might increase flight time.

Hi, Im new to the drone market and I'm looking at the Mini-3. Can the Mini-3 do an air drop?
Aldryn, did you manage to get clarification from DJI whether those legs on the front arms of the Mini 3 are solely landing extensions, or do they also double as antenna housing ? Subscribed & Liked [edit] You know what will be interesting is if you happen to do another side-by-side test with the OA switched off on the Pro and see how much difference in battery life.
Legs are for both transmission and landing stability.

Prop wash and turbulence mean they all suffer, the middle one the most. You hould add distance between them.
My Mini2 is solid. It's such a great drone that I have never been interested in its successor.
I have flown the Mini3 a couple of times and I do find it to be "lumbering" in the air and not as stable as the 2.
@El_Smeghead I have to disagree with you on that, I've owned the Mini 2 previously and now own the Mini 3 (non pro) and I have to say my Mini 3 is more stable than my Mini 2 was, maybe you have a faulty copy

No it doesn't make a difference to turning your obstacle off on the pro and non pro battery is no better

@@h.d_dronephotography bought a normal mini 3 since it was 110 euros discounted. Best choice. Also you can't increase flight time of the pro, also it overheats because it's got worse cooling (there are sensors where the non pro has air vents)

Is anyone having trouble with the firmware update. When i am connected to the drone i go to setting and firmware update but it says cannot update on quick transfer

In terms of flight time, portability and some other features like vertical shooting yes. The only which are better on the Air 2s are: Camera and being heavier.

I had OG mini and will never own another mini ever no matter how many they pop out every week. Even if they do get that much airtime your constantly fighting wind which kills battery life

Yes, not important for most drone users. But for me Mini 3 series looks ugly. Mini 2 is such a beautiful drone. 🙂

Yes and no.
It's the same sensor hardware but the processor is different giving reduced frame rate for video.
And 48mp photo is missing on the 3
@@grahamnivenMini 3 no can do 48MP photos but testing both I prefer the 12MP for less grain
