I was standing right behind Lars, one of the best experiences of my entire life. Fans were picked out from the crowd during the day and we were asked did we want to go up on stage during their set.. hell yeah we did, haha, I'll never forget it! :)

***** Idk why but they have some stinkers in their career but some people keep saying that their last good allbum was the black album but i personally like Load/reload and Death magnetic. St anger and Lulu were definitely not good but a band with this long of a career is bound to have some lackluster albums here and there. Doesn't make them any less of a great band

I was one of the lucky bastards behind the band, absolutely amazing set, was rocking away for the full 2 hours, some great banter with Lars between songs, great guy. James vocals were great IMO. Will never forget that experience, "the memory remains"!! :-)

Had a great time at Reading yesterday. Metallica's set was one of the greatest things I've seen!

I caught one at Leeds, but it had the wrong date on it, it had the date of the Reading performance.
I caught one of Kirk's pick and it's now on my wall beside my other picks, this was so life changing and as a young musician, it's inspiring to see a band 35 years into their career still going strong and showing no signs of slowing down, this is why they are one of the greatest bands of all time

Was there with my two daughters , my eldest ,who is 18 ,and not really into metal or heavy rock said it was the best thing she saw at the entire festival , my youngest , who is 14 was on cloud nine for hours and me ,at 46 and been to many festivals and gigs , thought it was the best thing iv seen , was fantastic !

Wasn't a Metalica fan but they were incredible live made the weekend !! that guitar live is something else... Was front left near the screen ! awesome ! got a metalica balloon aswell !! :D. Safe too say I'm now a fan.

well bmth didn't have half the people metallica had live. almost felt sorry for them seeming as they had to compete with metallica. they were insane yesterday, my ears were ringing for the rest of the night

Modestep pulled off the best performance I think I've seen by them :D sorry, not trying to rub it in. Even the people sitting further away were raving and moshing, had a great time! But knife party had the biggest Moshes, I was left with bruises and cuts afterwards! So I'm guessing you went to reading festival too? XD

I think the crowd looks great considering that it's a festival and not a heavy mental concert, half the people there probably wasn't metal fans but it still looks so good and fun! Wish I was there!!!

Saw them several times in the 90s including Reading around '97 - they probably sound better now than towards the end of the 90s tbh

Awesome show, I got a day ticket just to see them. It is a shame that they play Reading though, which is no longer a rock festival. Metallica should have played Download this year instead of Muse, and then Muse should have played Reading. That would have kept more people happy.
Fuck off muse were amazing at download, besides Metallica have a got a sour reputation now they've played Glastonbury and will again next year
+Jacob Turner I was at Download this year, and I watched Muse for the second time and I enjoyed it. But Muse as a band suit Reading more than Metallica do because they are more of a chart 'radio' friendly band, and that sums up the average Reading Festival attendee.
+Harry A Average Reading Festival attendee? I was in the crowd and as far as the eye could see, the crowd was full of fucking metalheads, yes further back you have the guys who are just getting in Metallica etc but the crowd was fucking epic.
+TheGamer The crowd at Download was definitely more metal based. Walking round at Reading though I did notice a fair few who had obviously come just to see Metallica. But Metallica would reach more of their fans at Download. Many snobbish metal fans would never go to Reading because they'd call it too much of a 'pop festival.' Regardless I enjoyed Metallica and moshing was fun. They should play Download more in future though.

Watching their 1991 concert and this song, I've realized how shameful the difference in their playing has become. From absolute heaven to a bit less hype in the performance. Anyway, I still want to see them live!!!
