    Respect to Michael Eavis for getting them to headline the Pyramid Stage. People bitched and moaned, but Metallica proved them wrong. They proved that for a genre that is very often dismissed, condemned and stereotyped, metal has the power to move people.

      After watching this on the BBC I'd of given anything to have been there, I bought the CD from that night it's nearly worn out, in my opinion one of the greatest appearances Glastonbury has ever seen, makes me mad people welcome all the pop poppettes to a festival but turn up their noses in disgust at the thought of one of the best live acts going performing there.

    Of all genres that performed at this years glastonbury metallica proved that heavy metal isnt something to laugh at n involves so much more passion and fan interaction than any 'pop' band or 'indie' act could ever replicate. The talent hits the 10 with metallica n metal in general when the autotuned chart bull we have nowdays require nothing but a vocalist. The metal genre will from now will only become the main attraction in a few years time when people realise theres so much more to the music.

    Metallica have sold more albums than most acts that played Glastonbury this year COMBINED. How you could say that they don't belong there is beyond belief. Especially considering they put on one of the best live shows in the world. If you're criticising their involvement in this you're either a snob or ignorant. If Glastonbury is to be considered one of the top and most diverse music festivals, it needs to involve more metal bands.

    • @Don7star
      @Don7star 10 лет назад +1

      It's easy to argue that they didn't belong there. It's an Indie festival, not a Metal one. If people wanted Metal that could go to Sonisphere, they're amount of sales has nothing to do with it.

    • @thissmoothie
      @thissmoothie 10 лет назад +1

      And what about all the other big non-indie acts that played Glastonbury? Skrillex, Dolly Parton, Disclosure, Fatboy Slim, Robert Plant. Seems pretty varied to me, and the turnout for Metallica confirmed a lot of people there wanted to see them.

    • @Don7star
      @Don7star 10 лет назад +1

      Don't get me wrong, I didn't mind them being there to say an easy argument to make. Also apart from Dolly Parton all those artists fall under indie/edm/electronica variants. For the record I liked Metalica's performance slow start but nice end.

    • @rjonesbeau1
      @rjonesbeau1 10 лет назад +1

      Glastonbury was already one of the top and most diverse musical festivals out there before this year. It is far more diverse than say Reading or the 'metal festivals' such as Download and Sonisphere. Those festivals and most others would get nowhere near a typical Glastonbury lineup as far as diversity is concerned. To state that it is just an indie festival just because big name metal artists were not previously included is slightly ignorant to say the least.
