Imagine writing a song so epic that you don't get tired of performing it even 30+ years later
I'd play a song for 40 years if I was paid like a motherfucker
@@jared8515 but they're wrote first,then paid after
Im pretty sure they are sick of all of their old songs. Why havent they retired? Because they have nothing else to live for. When you arent here to do Gods will, you really have no purpose. They keep doing it to try and fill a void that only God can. Thats why james is back in rehab. You can have all the money and fame and still be broken. They need a relationship with God. I mean one where you talk to him and he responds. These cookie cutter churches are all mostly traditional in operatio.. They read from the bible, sing and nothing has changed. They need a real relationship. I dont know why i just talked about all of that. Maybe it was meant for someone to read.
Master of puppets all the way, call me mainstream but that's a god song too
rynobell I mean they get like millions of dollars to do these type of things
Sound engineer we need to put you on every live show dude.
Sounds incredible, doesn't it?!
That was great sound quality!
it would be a pity if such an expensive and great sounding bass like a Warwick would never be heard...
Not enough bass.
Poor sound engineer though. Working for one of the worst radio personalities.
Your sound engineer needs a raise Howard. These were some of the best Metallica performances I’ve seen. Amazing sound quality and they played like in the old days, i.e. clearly having a lot of fun.
The Black Crowes are good on Howard too. Check it out.
Every band sounds amazing on Howard. Collective Soul and countless others.
It’s more likely it was Metallica’s sound engineer, but I could be wrong.
For sure!
@@SpaceGhostSupremeall songs sound better on Howard stern though not just metallica

Dying Breed Art 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Goals lol
Haha spot on
Can you even time stamp bruh * 5:03
OMG that's his O-face!
I love 4:10😂 James says ooooo Crib Death and Lars starts dying laughing. And James’ maniacal laugh when he says “it’s just the beasts under your bed”. I just love it all!! Metallic truly is my favorite band!!
Same lol
James had me rolling when he said that 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
1:34 I love how James makes his guitar moo
The sound guy for Howard stern should mix their next release
Andy Howard very good suggestion!!! The levels are great on this. You can actually hear everything clearly without losing power
Agree, great sound
This is the most common comment I've seen in the Stern show performances; it sounds so gooooood.
Axe fx babyy
Andy Howard that was gold mate
This was basically like Metallica Playing live in your living room, Howard Stern you really living the good life my man! Hope one day Metallica can come play for my friends in my living room, that would be awesome!
A man can always dream homie peace"
Howard is a trash person, but his show is fun to watch cuz of the guests
I always say Howard has the best space for live music plus excellent staff ❤🐨🦘
Maybe some day, never stop dreaming and headbanging
That boi delzzzz
Nobody:
James: "Yeaheah!"
Kirk: *undefined wah noise"
Howard: "This song talks about Kurt Cobain, doesn't it?"
Wait,are you serious man.....
I never get tired of listening to this song after so many years.
What song lol 😆 just the crazy beat 🎸
It does
Metallica's song all has that same feeling whahahahaha.
Timeless
Fr tho 🔥
James voice has reclaimed alot of that snarl that went missing for years. Never thought he would get it back.
Impossible is not James!
He's always had it. He just doesn't go out all when singing live. Singing like that ruins your vocal chords, so he saves it for studio recordings and special occasions like this.
Yeah his vocal cords got damaged
Imagine having Metallica play a song for you in private
Gavin Engel it’s on a radio show
I so wish
SilentJimmy it’s still in front of Howard with no one around them besides studio people
@@carlosthebest4557 that doesn't mean you were in the room .. HS and staff had a personal concert.

That is fucking funny🤣🤘
i smell envy. hahaha
I think this is the best live version of this song I've heard.
The '91 MTV Music Awards performance was probably the meatiest live version of this song that I have seen.
After '91 Monsters of Rock? Hell yeah
You've obviously never heard Live Shit Binge & Purge.
@@Fister_of_Muppets technichly this is a live/studio hybrid
91 Moscow was pretty bitchen. That crowd added alot of intensity.
robert trujillo - "what a small space i can't move anymore"

"I can't be a crab in this small space"
No crab
@MUHAMMAD ISMAIL BIN HAIRODZ HANIFF - james gets impaled
I’m kinda upset that you put his name as just Robert Trujillo instead of Robert Miguel Agustin Santiago Samuel Trujillo Veracruz 😢
James Hatfield vocals sound so good after all these years. I'm really impressed.
Ahh.. Kirk Hammet, please never change.
i fucking love this guy
He's an inspiration
Every fucking one in this band is an inspiration! Papa het rules though💀
*Kirk Wahmmet
Don't you mean Kirk Whammet? Replacing Dave Mustaine with Kirk was the worst and best thing they ever did because Metallica never recovered musically yet flourished commercially and now we have Megadeth! Hard to complain. Win win win right?
Imagine having Metallica play live for you and your cast.
You gotta pay them first.

4:09 you just know James was trying not to laugh the entire song so he could make it to that part
That slide Hetfield does at 1:34 is just him pure in the zone - love it
Is it just me or does James's voice sound amazing during this performance?
2:28
It only matters what you hear.
Enter Sandman's intro always amazes me
Dean Winchester YES!!!! It's THE BEST intro in the world. Sometimes i keep rewinding and listening to the intro like 10 times before playing the song. It's just THAT good!!!
Why? Song is so generic
It might be surprising, but the intro, rhythm fill, and main riff are extremely easy. I picked it up in a hour. To be fair, I have had 3 years of guitar classes, but you should be able to pick it up real quick if you try.

This is the song that officially ended the Soviet Union.
You forgot Scorpions - Wind of Change.
too shay
A concert in Moscow in front of a million Russians ...
This is the song that officially ended Metallica.
Craziest crowd shots I've ever seen
This is one of the best takes James has had on this song in a long time. No voice cracks or losing pitch. Sounded really good. After a 2 hour live set his singing voice is usually shot
I've been on a "Howard concert series" binge and I'm still amazed at the level of perfection that's achieved from the sound engineers
Wow James sounds great here
its 2013
Chris Calvert He does ?
He's been watching all this "...And Justice For All," and "Black Album" footage circulating RUclips lately.
Bout damn time..put some balls behind it..
awesome performance
Nobody gonna talk about how Kirk looks badass in those shades like damn
That's because dudes usually don't talk about how badass other dudes look.
Its inside so nah...
That moment when you're putting it all together in the studio, and knowing that this is going to go down in history as one of the best songs ever.
Many young guitarist in the early 90's started metal by playing this legendary song!
Holy crap! James's voice sounds young again! \m/ \m/
He takes care of himself....he will be one of the glory ones who keeps his voice golden

It was in 2013
well that was recorded 5 yars ago, but yeah he sounds pretty good now.

You can tell this is at the top of James Hetfields' Range, but he's still killin it after all these years! Great vocalist! 🤘🤘🤘🤘
James voice sounded incredible in this!!
4:10
James:Oooh Crib death
Rest of the band: *Trying as hard as they can not to laugh*
@@MaliceOfRites yeah Lars didn't try to hold back that laughter. I mean it is funny when you aren't expecting it. But thats part of the fun of performing live. Man I wish I had friends that I could make a band with
James really is a class act. And I absolutely dig it, lol
Also james almost broke into laughter mid verse lol
Good spot! Creasing
I love how Howard brings these bands down to earth. In a good way. A great way.
I love it when they are willing to push the vocals because they are not on a tour. James sounds great here
"... My recollection was that the song was about Crib Deaths..."
Metallica!! Fun for the whole family!
Howard's sound engineer is one of the best! Srsly, I never heard anything badly mixed from this show. Well balanced, great overall sound, everything sounds so damn clear and live.👌
Amazing performance by Metallica.🤘They seems so fresh and you can feel they really enjoyed the moment! Love this!👍
František Vtelenský agree but this is one of the most expensive per hour audio programs in the world. They deserve professional workers.
2021 and STILL listening to this masterpiece
0:45 when you kick a cat
I love James’ voice with a bit of distortion in it.
He is singing with a lot of gravel. Its great
ABSOLUTELY. THAT is exactly what makes him THE best Heavy Metal singer ever....IMHO(:
I’m no guitar historian, but I think Kirk Hammett is vastly underrated.
After he joined Metallica, he started taking lessons from Satriani to up his game.
He makes a lot of mistakes live though.
Hammett, Vai and Skolnick were Satriani pupils. Alex Skolnick rules
I am, and he is.
Dr Penguin actually he has no business being the lead guitarist of the biggest band in the world but some people are just extremely lucky i guess
James Is probably my favorite musician of all time. He tried here to do his old voice, love it.
4:39 I thought I usually mess this part up. But “Taiiiin of sand!” is much funnier.
4:10 Lars reaction is priceless, haha.
Why did he laugh?
"what did you just say James" ? X)
And they still hold it till 4:30 lol
So true;D
Hahah
Those “EEEEEEEEEEEExit light, EEEEEEEEEnter night”s had so much grit! BEST he’s sounded since the debut performances for sure!
auto tune
Ese Güerito I think this video definitely proved he’s still got that grit in there! Sounded awesome hearing it again like that
Theres a song.. Im not as good as i once was was, but im as good once as i ever was... It applies here... Cant survive a 6 month tour sounding like you did at 27 when youre 50
The beast is still dormant. It hasn't died
Actually, these days they play at a half-step down or even full-step down tuning, to enable James to sing without damaging his throat.
This is virtuosity. AND, dig it: They don't have gimmick number one. They play it live with every bit the power and force that it was done in the studio. Absolutely re-f****g-markable.
1:35 love it 🤟🏼
I've never heard James nail the vocals of this song live as hard as he did here. Freaking beautiful!
BBC 2016 is even better.
Great to see a band that has played so SO many times live still have so much enthusiasm and enjoyment. Excellent performance
Best drummer facial expressions ever
I've been looking for this for quite some time, the quality is fantastic
4:18 oh my fucking god lars' laugh made that perfect
James has one of the best rock voices hands down, he sounds so good live...and of course Kirk killin it in the shades...
3:55-4:05 tells you just how good this is...
Such an iconic song of all time. 🤘
Vintage Metallica!!!! This band is timeless!!!!!! James was on point!!!
Am I the only one feeling that James is sounding almost like in the 90s??
Not sure how he sounds now but this is from 2013.
Yes but more heavy
Yep I agree 💯. Sounds fucking awesome
That's it you're all going to Woodstock 2020 feels like it already started. Thank you all of you best creators I've ever worked with hands down.
I wore this song and my speakers out back in the day after I first got into car audio. still sounds great today.
Sounds like straight from a CD and even better.
Sounds close but his voice has changed a bit since those days. It still sounds good though!
They sound too clean for a metal band in my opinion, they used to sound rougher in the late 80's/early 90's.
even better
Well when you have played the song 5 trillion times im sure you can think about what you want on your pizza after the song is done and auto pilot your way through it lol
Still kicking some ass
Still one of the most legendary bands ever.
Preach!
They’ve done a lot of growing up. Learned how to get along better. And James is clean & sober. They sound better than ever. Legends
Superb mixing job from the sound engineer on this! It's hard to make a live performance sound like a studio recording but he did it!
I feel like James can give a good deep metal scream. Like a huge growl
Harvestor of Sorrow he let's mean growl rip before the solo I love it
A growl isn't a scream, dumbass! Scream is HIGH pitched, a growl is low pitched.
man looks like everyone having fun in that room...great vibes!
except the guy behind lars haha
My favorite band...
I grew up in the 80's and this never gets old!
That's one of the best takes of "Enter Sandman" ive heard since the Black Alblum. The old James👊
Is it just me or do they sound better than ever? This live version was benchmark Metallica!🤘👊
this was 2013
Yeah, I'm right there with you, Bear!
-Bear - you should hear the most recent Howard Stern with Metallica
-Bear - if James screamed, or growled, then it would be so much better

Ikr he went for he Ben Franklin look
Same goes for Joey Jordison
goosebumps listening to this and James's vocals seem to be improving with age
that james hetfield energy makes everyone heavily rockin🙌🏽🇵🇭
One thing I've noticed about this band.
They always seem to feed off each other so much better and have more fun when they're in an intimate space performing. So much more energy.
When they're playing huge arena's, or outdoor events with 8 sets of hanging PA speakers , the vibe is just way different. Just watch that record store performance of these guys. SO MUCH ENERGY.
They're such a huge band now that you'll never see them playing small venues and it's sad.
I think Metallica will rock forever!!!
Massa ver os caras tocando esse som nessa empolgação depois de tocar mais de 5000 vezes na vida!!!
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a band having so much fun playing a song they’ve played a million times. 👍
I'm a funk and soul person, but there's something funky about this track I've always loved. The guitar riffs and beats are great.
Some of the best live mixes I have ever heard. Give the sound engineer an award!
Doesn't really get much better than this. Talk about incredible musicianship - and after all this time (yah the vids few years old but still) they play incredibly tight. Fan freakin tastic
The clean tone is just amazing
Playing late night shows is the only time I get excited about a Metallica performance. I like to hear them in a raw pure form.
one of the songs that defined a generation!
No, don't say stupid shit. Nothing defines a generation.
Watched this over 10 times now Howard Stern has awesome musical guests
