Hey! Bobby G and I just released an updated version for this video in FL Studio 21. The workflow is a little bit different, but the techniques are still the same. Watch it there: ruclips.net/video/9B2Gm3n7gss/видео.html
I'm a producer from Ghana, I have been producing for about 3 years now this is my best tut ever. I appreciate you buddy I wish I saw this video earlier
I just hit the like button at the mid of the vid, this one gives much more insight on vocals recording for fl studio than any other i've seen. You guys are amazing. Thanks a lot!
Please keep in mind when he is talking about your vocal being at minus 12 to minus 6 decibels is is talking about PRE-fader. You can youtube this if you aren't sure what I mean. Basically, your meter will show you what you input level (sound source that is going into your program) is at, or it will show you what the sound source level is at when it leaves your computer (really, your mixer's master out out, and the individual fader tracks themselves)
I’m not a beginner, and the video wasn’t about it but I learned something I’ve been trying for ages now while you were explaining something else! Love 🖤
For me its the best Tutorial for beginners that i saw on youtube. Its simple and so true. Very Good and helpfull Video. After 35 Minutes im much smarter now. Thx 4 the Good work.
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU SEVENTH!!! AND ESPECIALLY, BOBBY G!!! ABSOLUTELY GREAT TEACHING,HANDS FN DOWN!!! THE RECORDING PROCESS AND COMPRESSION PROCESS SO SIMPLE AND YET SO DAMN GOOD!! I HAVE WATCHED TONS UPON TONS OF VIDEOS TO FIND OUT WHAT IT IS THAT IM MISSING! AND DAMN BRO! THIS WAS IT!!!! THANK YOU SO SO SO MUCH BOBBY G!!!
Well, since I watched this video I get in a little shock after results. I spent a lot of time in recording studio and paid bunch of cash. But now? I'm banging in my own house doing this tricks. Thanks a lot for your instruction video how to properly make mix and master. I'm getting back on a track ;D
Hey brother, the second guy... what mic is that he is using? is that SM7B or ? Thanks for this btw, honestly truly appreciate it. Tried to find a way to donate to you but couldn't see anything.
i think when it comes to ribbon microphones you should just try before you buy. Some people sound really good with that warm sound it gives but I personally like the way i sound on condenser microphones. i haven’t found a dynamic microphone yet that i like my voice on.
I see this bit word everywhere but I don't understand what it's for are you able to explain? I saw on FL it had a 32 and 64 bit so obviously I chose 64 but I'd like to know why it's better or worse
How can you reverb but still be clear because I tried it in my one song and it wasn't as successful as I expected. I could show you what I mean if you want.
This vid was helpful. Have one question tho. Why not use bussing and sends for your delay and reverb? Almost everyone seems to recommend not putting reverb and delay on the same channel as all your other effects??
Do what sounds good to you! Like I said in the video, I just prefer the drowned out sound of the reverb on the vocal, without side-chaining it through busses and sends. At the end of the day mixing is about what you want it to sound like
No Cloud-lifter or any other vocal chain used in the video, just the SM7b going straight into a Focusrite interface. For the original vocal recording of the song I used a Røde NTK going into a WA-12 500 Pre-Amp and then into a simple Focusrite interface.
If you don't manually select your input channels, FL will record over the master. So you have to manually select an input channel before you start recording.
Keep in mind the song was originally recorded on a Rode NTK, ran through a Warm Audio Pre. But the video audio was recorded with the SM7B going straight into a Focusrite interface.
hello, it doesn't show me the input signal of the FX channel even after connecting to the REC channel, and it's probably because I have monitoring turned on directly in the sound card, right?
What’s up Skopi! You have to connect them the other way around; so the REC channel goes to the FX channel. And the FX channel goes straight to the Master channel. Do you have any input signal on your REC channel?
There is none really, since all the streaming services have their own recommendations. AstroWorld by Travis Scott is around -4 LUFS. A lot of Drake’s music is around -8 to -12 LUFS. But Spotify recommends -14 LUFS 🤷♂️ I wouldn’t worry too much about it
Long enough to record to, if you wrote 100 lines to record then the beat should be long enough to accommodate that. If you plan to freestyle the whole way through you could just loop the beat however long you’d like it to be
@@BobbyG077 how would I go about that? Bc I make music and it sounds good in the car, Bluetooth speakers, and AirPods etc but when I play it on my iPhone speakers it sound distorted and muddy
You have to find out what’s causing the noise, my guesses would be: - Interference from your phone being too close to the mic. Try setting it to airplane mode. - Noise from your computer running too close to the mic. - Cable noise, try switching out your microphone cable and see if that fixes anything. - Noise from your pre-amp, mic or interface. Make sure your vocal is coming in at around -12db to -6db in your DAW. Try playing around with the gain on your interface or pre-amp to make sure that the noise your hearing is not coming from any hardware in your vocal chain. Hardware will always have some noise in it, but if you’re recording at -12db to -6db you shouldn’t be able to hear it.
truthfully, any mic ranging from $70 - $100 will work. i personally use a blue yeti and it is good enough. you need to consider the different types of mics (condenser & usb). with a condenser mic, you’ll need to get an audio interface since it uses an XLR cable rather than a usb that plugs directly into your PC. the advantage of using a condenser mic with an interface is low latency.
Good call. On our follow up video (out now) we explained using a brickwall could possibly cause resonance, making it roll off a little bit can prevent this 🙏
Make sure the vocal you want to hear is linked to a different channel than your ‘REC FX’ channel. You can then mute the ‘REC FX’ channel so you don’t hear your voice while recording. But because the vocal you want to hear is linked to a different channel you’ll still hear it.
can someone help i downloaded everythimg and updated FL but if i open the Recording Template FL Studio + Vocal Chain it says i need the plugins how do i get them ?
The free plug-ins are linked in the description! Some of the plug-ins require a purchase however, you can easily replace them with a similar free plugin and apply the same theory
Yes, ofcourse! Your Retune Speed determines how fast the correction takes place, lowering it works similar to a ‘wet/dry’ knob for the AutoTune effect. If you want the AutoTune effect to sound less ‘robotic’ you can use the ‘Humanize’ knob. There’s a lot more to the Plugin than this, but this will give you a basic starting point

It’s the CPU bitrate, in 2023 all software is 64 bit. So just use the 64 bit version
Watch a lot of reverb tutotials and try to unterstand every aspect of it! You will figure it out

What way the exactly vocal chain for the Shure SM7B? Did you use a Fetheat or cloudfilter?
No Cloud-lifter or any other vocal chain used in the video, just the SM7b going straight into a Focusrite interface.
For the original vocal recording of the song I used a Røde NTK going into a WA-12 500 Pre-Amp and then into a simple Focusrite interface.
Can You plz Making lessons about mixing and mastering
Sure!
Hey Booby G and Seventh, i have a Question : While Mastering the Vocals, we dont have to connecting the Master channel with the Vocal Channel Right ??
Nope! In this case just connect your vocal channel to the master channel
While you recoding with the auto tune , does the effect print on the vocals?
Nope, because the vocals are recorded on another vocal insert in the mixer. It’s just for reference.
The first sentence describes me no cap😥😥
We've all been there brother
dude i’m stuck where he’s on the mixing channel. i keep trying to record and it’s recording over the master and the insert 1 (REC) track… please help.
If you don't manually select your input channels, FL will record over the master. So you have to manually select an input channel before you start recording.
bro can i ask something,? if the room is not treated, what is the good volume of the mic in the Audio interface? like what oclock is it good to set?
As long as your input volume is around -12db in your DAW you’re good
This is educational thanks
Love bro ❤ you’re welcome
What kind of mic do you have
In this video I use a Shure SM7b. In the original recording of the song I used a Rode NTK
Hi dude! What mic did you use in this video?
Hi! I'm using the SM7B by Shure
Yoo bro can you do this in ableton please
How to do the peek reduction at 31:18 without the fruity limiter,

@@BobbyG077 Astroworld -4?? But if I switch from YOSEMITE to any other industry song they all sound the same in volume but different LUFS. How?
@@tyyleerr that’s cause the streaming services & radio all compress them. So on Spotify every song you hear is -14 LUFS.
@@tyyleerr There’s no way for me to tell why it sounds bad on Tik Tok really. I suggest googling their ‘best practices’ on uploading music
Easier way to find BMP. Click the tempo and click tap. Then just tap with the beat and it will find the tempo.
Yes! Also a good method

Long enough to record to, if you wrote 100 lines to record then the beat should be long enough to accommodate that. If you plan to freestyle the whole way through you could just loop the beat however long you’d like it to be
why did you stop doing afrobeats?
probably to switch up content or people have been requesting it idk
some awesome afrobeats videos in the making bro🔥
