Dude for real, this is actually the best tutorial for mixing I've found so far. You really deserve more subs man, most of the other videos I've found had producers who gave a shitty, rough explanation of EQ 2 and never really gave good reasoning for how or why they cut certain frequencies in their EQ. They'd also just brush over the limiter because they most likely never use the default one. I was so confused with sweeping and cutting out certain frequencies and knowing how to look for them(especially in home studios) until I found your video. Thanks man, really good tutorial.
the problem with sweeping and cutting is that people tend to increase certain frequencies to much so of course its going to sound bad if you boost 1 range by 10 db. you're not getting rid of any unwanted frequencies at that point, you're just removing the vocal presence which is why most of the time beginner mixing engineers have their mixes sound muddy.
This video is actually mind blowing. The fact that in each level he was going the vocals kept getting better and better is something we don't see with other producers.
Gotta say, this is one of the best mixing videos on here, it's not over complicated so that people get lost, but captures and explains the essential parts really well both in the way you explain why you're doing what you're doing and the way you show what you're doing and what you're looking for. Top job!
Well the is the best fl studio tutorial in whole RUclips because , you don’t just show what you do , but you talk about why you take this step in informative approach, thank you very much for tutorial
Thank you so much, brother! I'm getting towards the silky vocals. For a long time, I was struggling with harshness and lack of control over crazy effects but I stripped back and followed your tutorial and it was extremely helpful ❤️️
Within the first 2 minutes, you blew my mind. I've wanted to add effects to the tracks in the playlist for years but didn't realize they added that and/or didn't see that it was there.
4 minutes in, I didn't know what the setting for a slight fade out was and didn't know what it was called to google it. I was doing that painfully slow with automation.
bro... this video 2 years later on the newest version of FL is still a MASSIVE Help! Preciate you taking the time to make this video. helped me out a ton and I will continue to use this as a learning tool and reference while I continue to learn to mix as a starting producer!
Honestly Jay, one day, when I'll have my name on a hit, ill def thank you for all the professional and straight to the point quality help youve been giving us!
I've watched a ton of videos on this for years and this is the 1st one that made me feel like my mix was how I wanted it to sound. Thanks. Very informative, in depth and straight to the point with no confusion. New sub here
Big big difference! Vocals sound so clear! But remember y’all! This is tutorial is only done for this type of voice. Everyone’s voice is different. Some of the adjustments he did for his vocals I had to do different. Just a bit slight of difference. But it gives u the idea. Thank U bro!!
I never comment or watch long videos in mixing cuz people waste too much time talking or other nonsense, but this video is straight up one of the best, if not the best I've seen in mixing. Had me hooked the whole time, thank you !!!💯
dude i’ve been watching videos on how to mix my vocals for a few weeks now and you literally just taught me everything i’ve been trying to learn in 23 mins. that’s a sub from me dawg
Easily one of the Best FL Rap Vocal Mixing Tutorials I ever seen here on RUclips! Straight to the point, clearly, shown, and easily understandable. 💯💯💯💯💯
Don't cut out all the breaths on the main vocal, I would suggest you use the volume fade function so you don't lose the natural Feeling and if some bread are too hard the just swap them out with smoother ones. 😁
Dude, you got my like and subscription man. Honestly, the best video I've seen on mixin. I've seen so many producers and they never get to the nitty-gritty and technical aspect of mixing and you did!
wow thanks bro great video. seen many videos on mixing on youtube but nothing compares to yours you explain it very cleary and simple for people to understand. Great Job bro
This is one of the best tutorials so far, no doubt, hands down! I was looking forward for more vocal mixing tutorials in your channel, but I think this is your ONLY one talking about vocal mixing. Can you make more? More advanced tips, advanced pulg ins... Adlibs, chorus? I would be GREATFUL to watch all this type to content, this is bearly one video and it already helped A LOT! 🙌🏼
I sounded extremly bad before and even within the process but I trusted the process and the result was that well it still sounded bad but at least it doesn't give you ear cancer anymore when you're listening to it. So: It improves the vocals really well! Great tutorial!!!
Jay cactus is one of the best. I was following along while workin' on some vocals for a track i'm working on and it sounds immaculate. Really appreciate this man's effort.
Nice video Jay. I’m going to reflect back on this video in my spare time to see if I’ve forgot things along the way, or see if I can learn something new.
Thanks fam! Your explaination of the whole process is clearly the best i‘ve seen! 🙏🏾 Really helped me a lot ! PS: i think Maximus has a de-Esser preset, which also gets the job done
the best tutorial for beginners im a beginner and all the tutorials are like payed plugins or plugings i nont have but this was fantastik and onaly 15min inn

U are right brother
are we not going to talk about how vibey the song he’s mixing is
I studied music production in college but they never taught how to mix rap vocals, mainly rock music. This was super helpful!
no math teacher gives ya ways how so solve problems anytime, but lends a hook n u catch the fish on yo own👀
You’ll never learn 100% of everything in college. Plus no two professors are the same, yours may be a Rock fan.
the dude on these vocals is smooth af
Yeah he’s hard!
@@JayCactusTV If I might take a wild guess... is that Joyner Lucas I'm hearing?
