I've totally lost faith in the stock market reflecting anything related to our economy since the March-Jun 2020 COVID lockdown. The country was shut down, nobody left home, shops and factories were shut down, there was no transport, no retail, not much import or export as air and shipping was also locked down. In that situation, the stock market was still doing well, except for the one bad month of April 2020. It even recovered to 2019 levels by August 2020. In the COVID delta wave the next year, there was another lockdown and millions of Indians died. The stock market was soaring in 2021. Is the stock market connected to the economy? In a reasonable system, one would expect trading to be halted for the period of the total economic shutdown. But no such thing happened.
The stocks were pretty undervalued and hence they ran. During 2021, people realised that Covid isn't as deadly as it was assumed to be during April 2020. And that is why there was endless buying by institutions as the stocks were cheap.
@@anandsharma7430 People were still working from their homes. Plus, they cannot block the flow of billions by halting the markets for months bro. Say, you were sitting with 10 lakh rs worth of stocks. Does it sound ethical to halt the market and block your money for months when the system was already entirely online?
@@Rkr_445 I know. I was there. I was WFH too. I make enough money to invest in stock market. However, when the entire human race was in existential danger, the stock market continued with just online trading. Did the actual offices and buildings of BSE, NSE open? No. Now, I know that some people make their living off only the stock market. So do day labourers in construction and god know how many crores of jobs. Was it ethical to stop all that? My original point is that the stock market is a rich people's bubble and not really connected to the economy. The point stands, IMO. Ethics are relative. Ask one of the 60 crore people lowest income earners in India and they might have a different opinion about right and wrong on this question. USA is suffering all kinds of madness due to shareholder rights being given priority over everything else. There the belief is that profits are more important than medical care availability, financial safety nets, availability of insurance and what not. Let's agree to disagree on ethics.
Oh god! I really don't understand why so many people are so stuck on PE? It is not the only indicator. Sometimes, PE is not a good indicator of present performance - market factors future growth early into the price and the price goes up before you actually see the results. PE later adjusts when results are factored. Similarly, when demand is more, price tends to be more. Simple! There are more buyers in the market after covid, so you cannot expect PEs to be at historical levels. Leave all that... anything that goes up drastically, is likely to come down at some point. A correction will come st some point, but usually, it never comes when everyone expects it.

Risk is always associated with stock market. The same thing goes for US market too. If look closely the big tech companies especially semiconductor companies and healcare companies stocks prices are way overpriced because of people who are buying their stocks. If you look closely you will see even if companies are not making high revenue still their stock prices are high. But it doesn't means the market will crash drastically. It means it will takr some time to settle in their original price. The fact is low cap companies and medium cap companies are always a risky investment, but in long term if you have a balanced portfolio then you will 100% make money. In India if you invest wisely you will get atleast 20-25% return every year. Whereas in US you can easily get 12-15%. So as we all know investments are subjected to market risk, so invest wisely and if you are a long term trader then don't worry you make a lot.

Between 2002 to 2007 indian index became 7 times and between market corrected so many times and it normal 10% correction happened. I only see midcap is overvalued right now. It makes no sense at all but the US has not declared a recession yet (the same goes for the UK and Europe). So why only India?
@@Rkr_445 I understand how it works. But why was it working when everything was shut down? It's an ethical debate.
Lo ho gaya brother😅😂.

If everyone is talking is about crash.... It will not come... May be a minor correction can happen.. Unless govt increases capital gains tax
Mark miniervini also doesn't care about PE
volatility is not equal to risk if you are liquid enough.
There was a chance of crash when Sensex was at 10k, 20k, 30k, 40k, 50k, 60k 70k, 80k

Some people say overvalued then i normally check nifty and sensex pe which still around 24 and after covid crash market went so high index pe went around 35. And most of the crash like 2008 and 2020 happened when index was around 28-29. And market didn't crashed with 4 years gap. Between 2002 to 2007 indian index became 7 times and between market corrected so many times and it normal 10% correction happened. I only see midcap is overvalued right now. Correction is normal but crash won't happen every 2-4 years. Need strong reason for crash.
Since 2014 nobody is talking about valuation, PE ratio or earnings per share. Only pointing to share price and Sensex number.
