Soundwave literally fought in the Gladiator Pits of Kaon alongside Megatron, I think he only lost a single fight and that was against Megatron. Literally, no one can win against Soundwave, they had to do a Joesph Joestar trickster move just to get rid of him, not even kill him.

TFP’s interpretation of the character is my personal favorite. Unlike other interpretations where he and Shockwave are just a pare of mad scientists and Soundwave is the sassy one, TFP Soundwave is just terrifying. Like a horror movie monster. Especially when you know his backstory from the novels and the comics, it really just solidifies his status as sigma male.

Apparently he was once part of the council, unfortunately his position in the council seemed to matter little to the rest of the council. The dude saw Megatron, believed in Megatron, and invested his resources to Megatron. Even as council member, he was able to do spy work. And at least for Aligned continuity, the Minicons at the time were looked down upon by most bots. Soundwave however had respect for the Minicons, and enlisted them for help in those spy missions of his. Sadly, Lazerbeak is the only Minicon left out of the many Minicons Soundwave enlisted. And you can see how much Soundwave treasures Lazerbeak, especially when Lazerbeak was injured, even if Soundwave doesn’t utter a single sound.

It’s a meme. So it is a joke but also accurate. Soundwave is one of my favorite villains of all time. The fact he doesn’t talk makes him so menacing and in his backstory, he was a civil rights activist for minicons like lazerbeak and was only loyal to megatron because megatron was the only one who could beat him in gladiatorial combat. He’s a great charizmaniac for a silent character.
