    Can you explain the difference between 4 & 8 ohms. Also what’s the difference if you home run the speaker wire back to the amp vs running in parallel; pros/cons?

    My garage walls had Sheetrock like that. When I remodeled it into a room. I just put one piece of Sheetrock in it instead of the double they had on a few studs. Turns out it was because the walls studs were a little bowed. So the extra Sheetrock helped keep it flat and not wavy.
    No idea if this is the same reason as yours but looks the same

    Should have attached a pull string to the 1st pull and then wouldnt have to worry about dropping the line back down for the 2nd pull, or cut plenty and made all 4 pulls in 1 just tapped staggered down each other

    I need a little clarification on which wires are being used to splice in the third stereo speaker. It looks like you are using a 2 conducter wire on the stereo speaker in the bathroom. In my home set up, I have a 14/4 wire going to the first left mono speaker and a 14/2 wire spliced there to go to my second right mono speaker. If I want to add a stereo ceiling speaker in the adjacent Laundry room by splicing in from the left speaker (the one with a 14/4). Do I need to feed a 14/4 cable or a 14/2 to the stereo to wire that one? Logically I'm thinking a 14/4, and I would splice it into the incoming line on that first left speaker. But in the video I think I'm seeing 2 conducter cables everywhere. Is that causing Ohms issues?

    • @TheKMZ1
      @TheKMZ1  3 года назад

      So, the 2 bathrooms have 2 different speakers. The first speaker we did in the video was a stereo dual voice coil speaker, but I still ran 2 cables, each with 2 conductors. So essentially this could have been a 14/4 Wire, because the speaker has both left channel and right channel hooked up to it. The other speaker in the master upstairs bathroom was a standard 2 way speaker, and I branched it off of one of the channels. So it's in parallel with one of the speakers. So technically that zone has 1 left speaker and 2 right speakers, but it sounds fine, no one would be able to tell. Does this help?

      @@TheKMZ1 ok, yes. I’ understand now. I kept rewatching because I thought the same bathroom was being wired at the beginning and end of the video. That makes sense now. Thank you for clarifying.

      I used to get a lot more questions asking me to review/compare the differences between the monoprice/DAX66 amp. I reached out to htd and asked if I could do a comparison video and they send me an amp, and they were very stuck up about it their attitude was not good. They basically said that they were better than monoprice and didn't want to be compared to at that level. I told them it's too bad because that's what people are comparing you to and so just because that's what you don't want doesn't mean that that's what people are seeing. Anyway I was not impressed with their attitude and so I've never done that comparison and probably never will now that I have found soundavo.

    Since there are 2 in the bedroom and 1 in the bathroom on the same zone, you can not independently turn off the bathroom?

    • @TheKMZ1
      @TheKMZ1  3 года назад

      That is correct, at least in how I wired it. I could have added an analog wall volume control, but in this particular case I don't care if that 1 speaker is on when the others are on in that zone

    Thanks for sharing! You think the Soundavo WS66i is better than the Monoprice 6 Zone Home Audio amp? What do you like better? From my perspective the monoprice ties into home assistant and I already have that implemented. Curious as to your thoughts though, looking to install whole home audio in a house my wife and I are building. Thanks and cheers!

    • @TheKMZ1
      @TheKMZ1  3 года назад

      Yes I think it's better, I have a video on my channel talking about this new amp and the differences. This one has the same RS232 interface and commands as the monoprice, so it will integrate into your home assistant exactly the same, no issues. The reason this WS66i is better, is that this has 2 wireless streamers built in, and ethernet network interface so that way you don't need the iTach flex to control it. You can only use the RS232 or ethernet control, but not both. The good thing, is that you could also program your home assistant to use the network interface instead of RS232 if you wanted, the port for the network interface is 8080. Not only that, but soundavo is continuously investing in this line of amp, they have been designing a new keypad option for it, and you can buy parts from soundavo. You can't do that with the others, they are just kit sellers and nothing more. Hope this helps!!

      @aRndBelgianGuy 3 года назад

      @@TheKMZ1 For me the integrated streamers is a drawback because they'll eventually become obsolete, not the amp. I prefer to separate routing/amps from streaming/sources. Just my opinion on this :-) Thanks for the cool video as always !

      @@aRndBelgianGuy they use the link play steamer which is the same steamer used in other name brand amps. Aside from the 2 streamers, you still have 3 other hard wired inputs, where you could either use your own steamer or hard wired inputs

      @@TheKMZ1 Yep. What I mean is that it's part of the same box and I don't want to replace the whole amp if a new Airplay version comes up for example ;-) I agree it's a very cool solution but I want mine to still work in 15 years by just swapping a 100€ box (I have two DAX66's).
