Just came across your video... Wow I'm so amazed at your bravery and courage. I wish you all the best in the future. You're beautiful, intelligent and stronger than most.
I said that once, I hit my head on the corner of a brick and i don’t even remember what happened really I could barely hear but I couldn’t feel any pain
I did too. A few years back my mom and I and more people were involved in an accident. I blacked out as soon as the vehicles collided and my mom thought I was dead
@@Darkspexter I was thinking exactly the same thing when it showed her in the pool! If I were her I don't think you could pay me enough to get back into a swimming pool after what happened..
If anyone is interested in how she's doing now, this is from the update she made in December 2022: "I've been living with my abdomen open since 2009. It has healed some, but will never fully heal. Since I dont have any intestines I can not eat food. There is no way for me to digest or ansorb food. Sometimes I chew food for taste but I have to spit it out, I can't swallow it. I can drink anything I'd like, but I dont get any of the nutrients because it come right out through a tube attached to my abdomen. Since I can't absorb any nutrients by traditional eating and drinking I am on Total Parenteral Nutrition or TPN IV fluids for 20 hours a day, daily. Although TPN has kept me alive all these years it causes severe liver damage and consequently I am currently in liver failure. I recieve my TPN through a central line port that goes to my heart. So, as of 2022 I am currently needing a 5 organ multiveseral transplant( small intestines, large intestines, liver, pancreas, and stomach). The medical issues alone have been a massive struggle but financial obstacles have made the road to recovery that much harder. Since I am not an American citizen and I didn't have a social security number, I didn't qualify for health insurance for over 14 years of my life. As you can imagine, things were not very easy. After years and hundreds of lawyers, thank God I was able to get a social security number. Because of this I can now obtain health insurance and thank God the second transplant is possible. I have been reevaluated for the 5 organ multiveseral transplant and placed on the transplant waiting list at the children's hospital for 2 years. In the early part of 2022 I decided to make the transition from the children's hospital to the adult hospital in Pittsburgh. It has been a difficult decision as a fair amount of comfort and security come from that which we know. Children's hospital would have allowed me to continue my care with them well into my adult years, but sadly my relationship with the children's hospital team was strained, difficult, and traumatic. I felt it was better for my overall health and well-being to make the transition to the adult transplant team. Because of that transfer of medical care children's hospital removed me from the transplant list. They simply thought it would be best since I was actively seeking care at the adult hospital and was no longer comfortable at Children's. However, their hasty action to remove me from the list has left me absent from any transplant list at this time. The adult team will need to evaluate me again and reinstate me on the list. This evaluation is done on an outpatient basis. Unfortunately my liver and overall health has been declining rapidly during the past year and as of date I have not been able to remain outside of the hospital long enough to have the evaluation. Therefore, I am currently not on the transplant waiting list. Thankfully we did start the evaluation process recently and I started getting tests done. So I'm hoping to be officially listed soon. The transplant itself will be nothing short of a true miracle. Because I have had so many blood transfusions over the years my body has a lot of antibodies. This makes finding a match very difficult. Also, I will need all 5 organs from the same person at the same time. This mean my donor will be deceased. I am woefully aware that this means my miracle will be someone else's tragedy. I struggle with that reality. It truly is very difficult. All I can say is if I am afforded such a beautiful gift of life I will do my best to live in gratitude."

I read this happening to a 6 year old once and I believe she died due to the accident. This young lady lived for years after and that is impressive. Shame she's dead now, but no more suffering
CarlieRae Browne any trained CPO will know to check the main drain cover and ensure the suction level is safe daily. You should be safe. This poor girl’s story is exactly why I check everything so intensely each day I open the pool. If the pool is in the hands of a competent person you will be totally safe. Such a tragic story
She's so brave to still wanna go swimming especially when she face something so traumatic at a young age 😢 I would have PTSD every time I saw water if I were in her shoes she's really a strong girl
F T W Because they pretty much didn’t care. They should be footing the bill since it was their carelessness but no. Her Country doesn’t care at all that’s why she’s here in the U.S
Goodbye Salma, you'll always live in my mind as an example of strenght and bravery. Everytime I forget how precious is to be alive, I'll think of you. Thank you so much. Rest in peace.
This happened at a local swimming pool near me when I was a kid as well. If this is happening to multiple people CLEARLY something needs to be changed about the way these pools function.
it's sadly all about probability. Just because car crash happens doesn't mean we should change the whole system. They should probably put warning signs about the suction being there to warn people though
Not sure where you are but it happened in Australia and the kid died unfortunately. It absolute shouldn’t happen and there should be some safeguard in the pool
When I was younger my dad always said my stomach and intestines would get sucked out if I sat on or near one of those suction things. Didn't know it was something that actually happened to people.
Dimitris Hourd from down there I’m guessing.. it’s scary. I remember always sitting on it, I never knew it can end up being a tragic accident. I’m afraid of swimming now
I love how this mom has to pay for labs, testing, transplants, etc. and *still* supports and funds her daughter’s makeup. We love a supportive mother!!

My grandma has trauma like that, except my grandma didn’t lose her intestines, her dad was drunk and he threw her into the lake next to her house, and she couldn’t swim. Thankfully her brother came to save her. (She was 2 at the time.)
yea rare cases like these to the many rare one's are crazy to interesting to make you think and happy for what you got and how your life is no matter what
What makes me angry us the fact that so many of our celebrities, NFL players, talk show hosts etc could easily afford her surgeries without even being financially ruffled. But for her it's impossible.
@@michaelsurratt1864yes but unfortunately these government bodies don’t care about their citizens and individuals like us. they care more about their profits then the teachings of our prophets 🤦🏽♂️
@@michaelsurratt1864 The biggest source of money is the stock and bond market. The fact that the United States with the largest population of wealthy people on the planet has not figured out how to create a national wealth fund siphoned from the hyper wealthy up to this point is completely unacceptable. The income from the growth of a US national wealth fund would be absolutely absurd and could cover virtually all of these types of cases.
That’s a bit wrong though isn’t it. Making a group pay more in terms of percentages because they earned more. Everyone should be taxed the same. It’s not your right to say what others should do with their private property and funds
Imagine having such a terrible thing happen to you, something so horrifying. The fact she has the strength to even get near a pool again! What a strong beautiful young lady. 💕
Yes lets do that for AMERICAN children who are in desperate financial need for life saving procedures. There funding should come from Egyptian people who want to donate. There's plenty of wealthy people there who could help.
I heard an urban legend about this happening when I was a kid, and always stayed away from pool openings. Didn’t realize it could really happen. She’s such a fighter!! Amazing. Take care ✌️🌻
47 years old and my friends and I never once thought about those valves, probably because no counselor or pool sign had ever warned us about them. I hope that will change now! I do remember being nervous about the suction current in the landing pool at this smaller waterslide place. Once it was so strong I couldn't fight it, got pulled close to the fence and grabbed on till the lifeguard got there. I didn't go there much after that.
I’m sure she did as well, but you have to push through it. Just need to make adjustments and keep on living because things won’t get better if you give up. She was very lucky and I agree that she is a very strong young woman as is her mother.
Your suffering is just as real as hers. Someone else's pain doesn't invalidate yours, and mental health is just as important as physical health. Take care of yourself, mind and body, and don't be so harsh on yourself. One step at a time. :)
@@oyellepson5617 Just because someone needs a new organ doesn't mean they don't have that organ at all. Her liver may be badly damaged or she may only have a part of her liver. The way you're talking about this being a lie makes you seem very paranoid...
You can't live without a liver. Liver does have an incredible ability to regenerate though. As long as you are left with roughly 30% of your liver, you will survive and eventually it will regenerate.
Benjamin Zandstra Yes but not just with her. I’m lucky to be overall very healthy and able-bodied. There are many people who can’t do what I can do. I’m lucky.
Wish more people of the religion Islam would be like this family in Sweden, they just seem so thankful that they’ve got to give her another chance, more than I could say about most of them here, (not all) but most.
@@girlfacestheworld2113 There really should be emergency shut down buttons in several areas in case of emergency they can push it to shut down the suction
Remember that scene from "final destination"... where that handsome guy risks his life for one little worthless quarter, and ends up getting his intestines pulled out from the drain?
For Jesus all things are possible! She's getting this multi-visceral transplant, in Jesus Christ of Nazareth mighty name!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I see it has affected her growth, it's quite impressive that the human body can survive without all those parts. EDIT: even with the intervention of science, the body is amazing how well it can adapt to foreign body parts for eg. Artificial valves, implants etc. Some people are still missing the point.
Her body isin't surviving, her body is dying 24/7. Her doctor is making her stay alive by introducing her body with fluids that can sustain blood flowing and also "unnatural" hormones that should be there from the liver and etcetra.
Her mother looks deteriorated, tired, stressed, sad, scared but finds the strength to continue fighting right along her daughter. She is suffering side by side, literally with her daughter. Cant sleep, worried about Bill's and God forbid, death of a child. With all that being said I can now also include mentioning that she's dealing with a teenage girl which is the icing on the cake of worries. God bless them and everyone in the world that's dealing with anything similar or even worse.
I'm impressed with how intelligent and articulate she is. I'm actually dizzy listening to this, I can not even begin to imagine what horror she went through.
She’s amazing. So scary this happened in Egypt where they couldn’t treat her with life saving medical treatment. So lucky she quickly got to the United States where her life was saved and continues to be.
You actually call this horrible accident and her gruesome injury a “miracle” ? She is not saved, she will eventually die due to these injuries, no way will she live to see age 20
As a Brit, I see people say that the US is a third world country for not having cheap healthcare, but third world countries do not have the advanced healthcare that the US has. Sure, the expensive healthcare is a problem, but most of the nation is covered by insurance, or so I’ve heard.
@Jessie Muncie I actually had a bowel blockage, no not the same, but I had an ostomy for a year and I was miserable my quality of life wasnt good. This poor girl’s story is exactly why I check everything so intensely each day I open the pool. If the pool is in the hands of a competent person you will be totally safe. Such a tragic story
I'd even be scared of the word pool 😬😬
She's so brave to still wanna go swimming especially when she face something so traumatic at a young age 😢 I would have PTSD every time I saw water if I were in her shoes she's really a strong girl
So why isn’t the owner of the pool being held liable for this girls needs?
Because things are different in Egypt where the accident happened
F T W Because they pretty much didn’t care. They should be footing the bill since it was their carelessness but no. Her Country doesn’t care at all that’s why she’s here in the U.S
It’s not really the owners fault
@@amanda.._.. um... Yes it is. No pool should be able to take out a girls intestines.
Kokona Haruka No it isn’t. She sat on the vacuum/suction thing. It’s not the pools fault because it can happen at any pool place.
@@joesr31 They should put a box grate around the suction.
Not sure where you are but it happened in Australia and the kid died unfortunately. It absolute shouldn’t happen and there should be some safeguard in the pool
Tom actually some pools do that even though they hurt to step on 😅
@@joesr31 This has nothing to do with probability or car crash this should not happen at all! 🤦🏾♀️

You shouldn't be doing that
Dimitris Hourd I’m trying to find out the same thing I’m so curious
