That part about speeding up to 1.5x speed and missing a step hit me so hard. I literally remember doing that multiple times when building my first games.
I didn't speed up to 1.5x and had to watch and rewatch the video just to get an idea of what was going on. Sometimes when the project was due the next day and I thought I was *so close* to finishing. The pain is real.

I learned to jump to the part i need to go at 0.5x speed so i don't miss the way to do the step i need. Though the song is about the 2 most popular game engines not 3D modeling software. It would be a lot longer if it including the workflow from a single vertex to a completed simple game. Even truncated like she did.

Why do I feel attacked?
Today is my last full day of class before I graduate with my diploma in 3D animation and VFX. One of my friends and fellow classmates decided to show me this before he left. Had he shown me this at the start, I would've been completely lost, but given that it's been six months of nothing but 3D shenanigans and my prof absolutely flaming Adobe higher-ups of who he has contacts, this hits me on a spiritual level.

I'm actually interested after she suggested recreating my childhood bedroom. It sounds better than writing an odd recount of my life because I'm not very good at explaining so here's a 3d picture of my 8 family members(including me) sleeping next to each other in one big dark room because we couldn't pay the electricity bill for quite a few months.

After all the nonsense going on with unity lately, this still brings joy to me.

As a first-year 3D animation student, this makes me feel both excited to learn all the possible features but also worried about forgetting how to use some of them,among other things...

Bruh I dropped out after a year because I reliazed that I could just learn this online for cheaper. That and because I've been teaching myself since I was 15.
Picking up skills you lost is easier than learning new skills :D So keep it up and have fun
What I did in school was if I learned something or came up with something, I wrote it down in steps I knew I could recreate and saved it in a USB which I then backed-up on my PC. I'd recommend this if you are really feeling like you want to remember. Or at minimal, you could write down terms you'd know you'd forget so you could search it up again in the future.

Blender does not have a learning curve, it has a learning wall.
@@Linuxdirk It is more so like a curve that leads to 5 different walls. You just have to pick a workflow and learn it not the other 4 ways to do the same thing. Now i think you have 6 ways to do 1 thing or at least in the alpha releases you do due to animation nodes. Thankfully if you learned it in 2.49a how you learned it will still way in 3.33.1LTS

Ok but my favorite thing to do is knowing how to model 85% of something, not understanding how to add bones and then giving up after a 2002 tutorial didnt work

The detail I love most about this model is the little fingerprint marks on it to make it feel like sculpted clay.

I love the thumbprints on the model giving it that handmade look, can tell you've aimed for a 3D stop motion look. Seriously subbed on one, your artistic capability and two, that banging song parody.
Tbh it kinda bothers me that they're a screen-space effect when the character moves, but overall I agree it's such a nice look.
And the animation and vocals and the way they sync up are so spot-on!
That was the best parody of all time. Exept for all the songs of Weird al and Lonely isladn. But literally i just finished the hood of a low polly character for unreal engine and this popped up lol. 10/10 EPIC

Not very long ago, just before your time, everithing was made with clay, took eight hours or nine. This was paper sheets, on repeats, a polar or two. We left our ink, and in a blink, moved to... PC.
not a 3d artist... just felt inspired.
I have never touched a single 3D program... and yet this was wonderfully quirky and hilarious. I could get into a lot of the jokes despite having a superficial knowledge of the topic. Parody's fantastic and the texture of the animation is really endearing! Fantastic work!

I remember the one time I tried Blender.
I followed a tutorial for creating a monkey head and set it on fire. The monkey head was created, then I had to press a button to set it on fire.
I pressed the button. The head was not set on fire. I then uninstalled Blender.

The exact buttons to click, menu options, hidden doohickeys, change often. I've never seen a Blender tutorial for setting Suzanne on fire that actually worked if followed literally and exactly, and I've used many versions over the years. It's almost as if one should install an older version of Blender just to follow a tutorial. But no, that would be silly. Hunting for moved features and controls is just a part of Blender life. And there's the Blender Artists Q&A site.

This is so good, great animation and song cover, it's incredibly faithful and nails all of the beats of the original. The cuts, shots, camera angles, I can't imagine how many times you had that video pulled up while you scrubbed through it frame-by-frame to get the beats down. Even the more personal details, like animating in your breath intakes in (really all of your facial expressions throughout this are fabulous). Great animation and composition, and a lovely singing voice to boot!
I'm both really excited and dumbfounded on where to start with learning Blender (really animation in general), but hey, it's stuff like this that motivates me to try. In the meantime, enjoy a new subscriber!
