Thank you so much! We were just about to order a new door seal for over $100 but then I found your video, and I was able to correctly troubleshoot the issue and it wasn't the seal it was the cam!! Your video was so well done and you saved me so much money and time!! Thank you again, Farmer Jay!!
@@jeffcoleman1006, on the right hand door on our model, there are no electronics/electrical cables routing into the door so the cams are the same for the top and bottom hinge. I've checked my order history to assure that I did not buy two different types. I didn't, I used two sets of the same part to complete the repair. I hope that helps you! Best, DFJ

THANK YOU for helping us fix our door with your great video and instruction! We have the same refrigerator as you; our door went bad after 13 years with a family of 5. The repair cost only $9.00.
Fantastic video if you are looking for the solution. I went to whirlpool site to verify the parts for my model which were the same as yours in this video. My whirlpool model is 20 years old and our refrigerator door was not closing tightly and as firmly as it used to anymore. Ordered the parts locally from an appliance parts store which had them ready for pickup in an hour for $9.00. Expected an easy job like in your video. After taking the door off and cleaning underneath whatever was on there after 20 years, I noticed the piece in the door had already worn all the way down and the shaft that went into to the door was stuck in there. It was a battle with the long nose pliers to pull out pieces of it so that I could fit the new part. Once that was accomplished, everything went back together quickly and it works like brand new again! I can't thank you enough for this video.
Great to hear that our video showed up at just the right time!! Let us know how the install of the new cams goes. It was pretty simple and totally effective for our situation. Best, DFJ
While my GE refrigerator did not have a cam system, your video gave me the courage to go further and remove the door to see what was there. Removing the door and replacing it fixed the problem. Thanks.
Just subscribed...best video on repair I have seen. About 1 1/2 years ago, I started fixing my sprinklers, lawn mower, and other appliance, because it seemed every time I called someone it was between 250-300 dollars. Your video was so simple...start to finish.

My Kenmore refrigerator (23 years old) side door has begun to sag compared to the freezer side. I think you explained what is happening when it doesn't close completely and I am going to try your fix. Thanks for the fix I should try.
Absolutely brilliant. I would never have thought of checking the cams. $20 later, everything is great. Well done video. Clear, good sound and informative. Thank you so much!!!
Thank you. I’ve been dealing with this problem for years after someone leaned heavily on my fridge door. I thought they bent the frame. I was just about to buy a new fridge and decided to check RUclips. I’m kicking myself for not doing it earlier. Thank again

Eric sent me to your video, from Nextdoor. We're going to try the cams and put on new hinges. I'm also going to clean the gaskets, like you recommended. Thank you. You, probably, just saved us money we really don't have for a different refrigerator. Blessings.
Thanks for the video I'm going to work on my frig this weekend got my parts under 5 dollars each looks easy so finally can get my wife to shut the door lol
@DirtFarmerJay hi DirtFarmerJay yes I made the attempt to replace those parts ugh it would of been easy but when we moved into the house the fridge came with it and when I tried fixing it all of the things where in bad shape got the bolt off the bottom of the door but the other part bolt was rounded off and boy it turned into a few hours 😂was able to brake the cam and sher the top off the bolt and I ended up using lol supper glue to hold the cam in place so I will have to see how that holds if not I am going to have to take that bracket off but I looked at it and it's rusty as well so I'm hoping for the best 😢but it is working so far
I would like to add my voice to the "thank you" chorus! Like FarmSeasons4 we have the same fridge and put many years of use into it with a big family. This was an easy do it yourself fix, but wouldn't have been able to do the job without this extremely helpful video instruction - many thanks DirtFarmerJay! Hope you continue to do more of these.
Thank you! We did it by ourselves thanks to your informative video. The fridge is 20 years old and still going strong. Now the door closes itself again too! You made it sound easy and it was.
This video is amazing. I’m a 50-something year old grandma and I ordered the part from the website you suggested and repaired my fridge door in like 1/2 hour! For less than $15. Thank you!! The door hasn’t stayed closed in months! So now my fridge closes tight, I was really hoping that was why it doesn’t stay cold, but unfortunately it’s still not getting cold inside. What do you suggest I look at next? The freezer works just fine and I really don’t want to buy a new fridge. 🙁 Thank you Jay!
Same here. I just lifted our old refrigerator with my dad. We've had that for 26 years now. The door did stay closed but our foods were rotting slowly.
Thanks a lot for such a well explained video. Was shocked to see rivet in fridge bottom but luckily cam was good so replacement of cam on door itself resolved the issue. Thanks again Jay.
Wonderful! We are always so happy when we can be a part of the solution for our viewer's problems. Keep watching and commenting Arshad Iqbal. Best to you, DFJ
Was very grateful to have found this wonderful fix and it immediately solved our problem. It may be worth noting that since our first repair, it has been necessary to order new fittings and replace them every six months. Seems like the replacement parts are not as robust as the originals, which lasted ten years before wearing out.
I'm glad this was helpful to you. Indeed, the replacements are not as hardy as the original. I'm going to see if I can find a source for better units. Best, DFJ
You da Man! Thanks for sharing your insights to fixing my fridge door. The CAMS did the trick. Every time I open/close the door now, I get that sound of a solid seal. And the parts only cost about $12.00. I really appreciate the share! Saved me from buying a new fridge when all I needed was $12.00 and some time/effort. BTW, my fridge is over 15 years old.
So glad we could help Kurt Joseph. We appreciate it so much when viewers/subscribers let us know that we made a difference for them. Best to you and keep watching!! Dirt Farmer Maggie
Thank you so much for the video. Was able to talk my dad through how install a refrigerator door. ❤ Feeling confident when I own my own home that I be can some major DIY projects 🎉
Thanks a lot for your video and instructions. This gave me the confidence to try to fix it. I ordered the parts for my 25 yr-old fridge, taking out the door was easy, but the new parts for the door had a problem, the mounting hole is few millimetres off, so the door will not fit into the protruding rod of the fridge, it took me half an hour to work out a solution, which was to drill a larger mounting hole on the replacement part, so it could be adjusted to fit to the door and align with the hole. Eventually, it worked, it took 90 minutes instead of 15 minutes. As usual, sometimes things are not that straightforward, need to allow extra time and work out a solution on the spot. ( I am outside USA, the parts are a little bit more expensive, but it is still cheaper than calling a technician to fix it).
I have a different door-doesn't-close problem but I appreciate this video because it has inspired me to get the part and get the problem fixed. I think I'll get on that right away while I'm thinking about it.
Thank you, super informative. I’ve had mine for 2 year and the door lining keeps falling off, so door opens… I learned a lot from your video. Blessings🌸
Thanks. This sounds easy enough to do. This answered all my questions. Gonna fix my fridge door with confidence. Ours have worn so bad that the cams make a grinding sound.

Hi Mr. Jay, I have a LG refrigerator LFX31925ST /03 and my right side door won’t stay in the closed position when the left door is opened and closed. We have had it for 8 years and it just started doing this. Per your video, I have checked steps 1 & 2. I even replaced the right door foam seal. This fridge doesn’t have the door cams on bottom like your video. I was sure that was going to be the problem. Thanks for any info you can provide! Jeff

Thank you so much for sharing this information! It was exactly what we needed to do to fix our refrigerator door. Your tutorial was very easy to follow and you are great at walking us through each step.🤩
Instant fix! Thanks! There was ice under the shelves, causing the drawers not to close properly. The drawers were pushing against the door not allowing it to seal
Excellent video. This exactly what my fridge needed (16 years old). The same parts too. The plastic piece on the door was completely gone and used needle nose pliers to pull out the long piece still stuck in the hole in the door. Used a wire brush to clean off the rust build up. I had so much fixing the problem that now I just want to keep opening my fridge door just to watch it close. 🤣🤣🤣
I personally experienced that very same issue with the door not tightly shutting, Thanks to your tutorial I rapidly went to my fridge and removed all items near the front edge of the shelves that might of looked like it wouldn’t be the cause and guess what, that was the reason…. IT NOW SHUTS AS TIGHT AS IT DID WHEN I FIRST PURCHASED IT…, Thanks a trillion…

I assume the freezer door uses similar parts mirrored or the same ones? Just curious as my freezer door still closes tightly...
Yes, indeed.
We're glad it was so helpful. Best, DFJ
Where did you get the parts?
Thank you. I’ve been dealing with this problem for years after someone leaned heavily on my fridge door. I thought they bent the frame. I was just about to buy a new fridge and decided to check RUclips. I’m kicking myself for not doing it earlier. Thank again
Thank you so much. I've just watched your video and was able to fixed my fridge door in no time. you're video is excellent.
You're welcome!
I’m having an issue with my freezer door. I’m going to see if this fixes it. Very good video. Thank you for being thorough.
Glad to help, @lzh3131. Let me know how it turns out. Best, DFJ
First video the pops up on RUclips. As it should be. Love the detailed walkthrough.
Using this to fix fridge at work. Thank you!!
Glad I could be of help. Keep watching and commenting my friend. Best, DFJ
I've had this problem for the past month.. I'm sure I closed the door but in the morning 🌅 🌄. .. lol.. I have most of the tools and I have some time today to do this.. I swear you're an engineer.. you are always spot on! This video has made my day.. Happy 2021!!!
Oh wow! Thanks for watching and writing. How'd the repair go? I'm hoping to continue my "just do it yourself" mantra and assisting by showing how easy and economical it can be to take care of home repairs and updates yourself. Best to you! DFJ
Thank you sir. Perfect video and super helpful to me. Please do more.
WOW! THANKS SO MUCH, DirtFarmer Jay! I would NEVER have realized that the worn door cam was the problem (on my 42yr old GE!) UPVOTE!
You give excellent instruction! Good people are alway happy to help others
Aw garsh...
You are a money / lifesaver ... my 16 yr. old fridge door now closes again! Thank you very much!
Farmer J you saved me $$. I just press the strip back in place all the way around and cleaned it from stinky something. It shuts like a proper catch. Perfect ❤️ 🎉🎉. Million times thanks.
Matthew, did you get this done? How did it turn out? Best, DFJ
So informative and I had no clue that was such an easy repair! Thank you for being a great resource!
Thank you! We did it by ourselves thanks to your informative video. The fridge is 20 years old and still going strong. Now the door closes itself again too! You made it sound easy and it was.
Glad it helped!
OMG this video really helped me get my fridge up and working. tq so much. Done in less than 5 mins.
Is it level side to side and back to front?
Same here. I just lifted our old refrigerator with my dad. We've had that for 26 years now. The door did stay closed but our foods were rotting slowly.
Thank you so much I just watch your video and I fix my freezer. Thank you so much appreciate it
very helpful and easy to follow, no issues replacing my cams and saved a lot of money and time!
Best, DFJ
Thank you Jay. You were explained so well and covered all the major things causing door closing.
You're very welcome
great info. i have over 20 frig’s to maintain and did not know about the cam!
Thank you so much for this instruction!!!!! Just had to fix my fridge door for the same problem.
Way cool!
How'd you go Nadine? Did you get it done?
Nadine, just following up with you. Did you get the repair done? How did it go? Let us know! Best, DFJ
Thank you, super informative. I’ve had mine for 2 year and the door lining keeps falling off, so door opens… I learned a lot from your video. Blessings🌸
Glad we could help!
I love this grandad saved me a fortune, you have another subscriber. Keep keeping on.
Awesome! Thank you!
Thanks. This sounds easy enough to do. This answered all my questions. Gonna fix my fridge door with confidence. Ours have worn so bad that the cams make a grinding sound.
Let me know how this turns out for you!
This is very helpful. We have a refrigerator we inherited from the previous homeowner and it looks like yours although it’s by Frigidaire. I will try this. Thank you! And God bless
I've been having the same problem. Thanks for taking the time to detail this repair. I appreciate you!
Glad to help. How did it turn out?
@@DirtFarmerJay I installed the kit and the door closes like new. Thanks again for this tip and detailed video. We were planning on buying a new refrigerator in Black Friday. Now I can save that money!

We've had this problem for a very long time, now solved thanks to your video. I ordered the parts which arrived yesterday and today I just video called my husband to show what I've done to the fridge door and he was impressed! Thanks DirtFarmer Jay!
Great video! That’s exactly what happened to my fridge door! I feel more comfortable trying to fix it myself after watching your video!!! Where is the link to buy those parts? Can you provide the link? Thank you
This is awesome. I’m having the same issue with my refrigerator. And I have the same refrigerator as yours for 17 years
At least it lasted 17 years 🤷♂️
This video made this job very easy! You made it so simple. I really appreciate your help. Chris
Mine had ice in the back from condensation build up now its working great. Thanks for the video bud 👍
Glad it helped! Best, DFJ
Beautiful absolutely beautiful. I looked at other videos and they were talking about changing or strengthening the magnet. And only using Vaseline on the plastic . You are great. You’re the man. I am So happy. Thank you thank you.
Thanks giovanni Soto. I'm blushing!! Keep watching and commenting. Best, DFJ
Jeff
Thank you Jay. I’m pretty handy and built both my houses. However, I never knew about the cams; it’s nice to learn something new. Thank you again and great video!
Thanks David Stepeck. Our mantra is "Just Do It Yourself". There is something so gratifying to complete a task or repair by doing it YOURSELF. Keep up the good work, man! Best, DFJ
This worked perfectly... I have the exact same fridge. Thank you for this video! Saved me $$$
Glad it helped! Keep watching and commenting Wine Wench. Best, DFJ
I've been hearing a "click" everytime I open the door. Thanks to your wonderful teaching skills, I am now confident I can change the cams which may be the reason I hear clicking everytime I open the door. Thank you, Dirt Farmer.❤
Thank you very much for your help! It's not all that difficult, but if you've never seen it done, it can be pretty mystifying!
Thanks for outlining the 3 possibilities Jay. Made it an easy diagnosis n fix for me n my wife. Done in less than 1/2 hr. 👍👍
Awesome S P. Keep watching and commenting! Best, DFJ
Thank you so much for sharing this information! It was exactly what we needed to do to fix our refrigerator door. Your tutorial was very easy to follow and you are great at walking us through each step.🤩
Glad it was helpful!
Instant fix! Thanks! There was ice under the shelves, causing the drawers not to close properly. The drawers were pushing against the door not allowing it to seal
Glad we could be of help Maurice Linton. Thanks for letting us know you "just did it yourself" which is the motto we try to live by. Best to you! DFJ
Thanks mate. That was a great instructional video! I now have the confidence to fix my door!
I've watched a lot of videos in my time and this one was exceptionally well done.
Thanks Dan Weisberg. Keep watching and commenting. Best to you, DFJ
thanks it was a water bottle in the door. ...3 months man.... cheers
Ketchup bottle in door for me...yeah!
Great to hear! This happens more often than you may think. Best, DFJ
I LOVE LEARNING DIY PROJECTS & this is the best diy video that makes it simple for a WOMAN to do that would like to stay independent & SAVE TONS OF MOOLA doing it herself. A client told me how much she pd someone to do this & there's no reason why ANY repair place should charge an insane price! Thank u for great video! I'VE SUBSCRIBED : )
Thanks for subscribing Silvia Martinez. I hope you will continue to watch and comment. Thanks also for being and independent women who likes to "Just Do It Yourself!" Best to you, DFJ
Fantastic video thanks! Just ordered mine now! My wife will be happy tomorrow

That was so easy. Thank you. Love RUclips for this reason
Glad it helped Theresa Sosa. We love to get responses from our viewer family when a video helped them solve a problem. Thanks for sharing! Best, DFJ
Thank you Jay for sharing. I'm grateful because I have old model one with problem like yours and you explained perfectly well. No youtuber bother to make videos about old model fridge but you.
Good advice, door closes and stays closed now. Repair took less than 15 minutes and that included emptying the contents of the door shelves!
Glad it was helpful! - DFJ
Wow, and thank you for taking the time to help us all out. Way too often, small things like that cause folks to up and buy a new *whatever* when a few bucks could fix it and stay out of landfills. Until corporations bring back manufacturing to America, we need to buy as little new as we can.
Glad to be of help! Best, DFJ
