really appreciate your video, you potentially saved me hundreds of dollars since my refrigerator is brand new only two or three years old, thanks a bunch.
im speechless. im a girl and i realised my fridge has a gap and it causing it to ice up. some of my meat got spoiled this month. I was so worried that id have to get someone to fix it or buy a new one. thank you so much for this tip. love from South Africa
I tried this last night on my fridge and it worked like a charm! It was neat watching the seal expand as I took the hair dryer to it. Thanks a lot for this video, helped a lot and saved me some loot as well!! 👍👍👍
Quick question. Im having the issue with gasket gap between 2 refrigerator doors which causes condensation to appears, but it looks fine, like there's no gap between the doors when closed. Can this method be used in that situation?
Yes this method should help. Inside the seal is a magnet strip - this is what keeps the door sealed (its not suction) so when you warm up the seal, it lets the magnet inside pull across and seal better, then you wait for the seal to cool down to stay in new shape. You could also try vaseline around the seal as well for an extra layer of protection. is the problem continues, send me a message and i will dig into a deeper dive.
As a nurse, I know that petroleum-based Vasoline will break-down rubber so I advise to use a water-based product for latex condoms. Whether or not your gasket is made of rubber, well, that I don't know.
Yes this should work, no need to turn freezer off. It would be best to remove the ice if its in the way, using paint scrapper or melting with a hair dryer but melting can take a while.@@PatriciaHadley-ip8mb if you have any issues let me know.
Just wanted to update that this advice worked really well!!! From winter wonderland inside to no frost. We do have some ice still so we will try it again with some wedges, but gosh, you saved us over $300!!!! Thank u
Omg thank you for the Question and the Answer!! I just noticed my freezer door (double door fridge/freezer) had cold air coming out from the top section so I’ll try this in the upper seal areas. Praying I do it right!! Thanks again for the free and quick fix!!
How long does it stay in shape? My problem is my 2 door refrigerator freezer is dripping and refrigerator guy says the lower right are of the main big door hinge hole is frayed which is why it is not shutting firmly and leaves a gap which is barely visible. Any diy for that or this should work for my case too?
Heat with hair dryer, if you do it long enough should fix the issue forever. you can also add a layer of vaseline around the seal to seal any small gaps. depending where the gap is, you can also bend the door with force (open door put towel at opposite end of gap and bend other side of door inwards). this should fix your problems, if not you may need a door adjustment but that is usually when door isnt closing properly due to hinge issues or there is a large gap.
To the fridge that already running and fill with stuff, try vaseline, the petroleum on the edge of the contact of your door, I tried glue but it didn't work (caused the mess) and now this way seems working to stop the cool air leaking through the paper thin gap.

Yeah but that is not a hair dryer . I’m sure that gets way hotter that any hair dryer would. So my question is, would my hair dryer at home work and do the same thing?
try heating the inside/underneath the seal if possible then close the door and heat the outside. make sure its on the hottest setting, use your fingers to pull the seal out as well. hope this helps
Try pull the seal out iwth your fingers, Make sure to heat the inside and underneath the seal then go around and do the outside, make sure to leave door closed for as long as possible afterwards. You can also try and put soemthing underneath the seal like blutak or anything really to prop it up in that area.

This worked amazingly to revive our old fridge and freezer door gaskets.

Don't forget to lightly vaseline.the seal when done.the Vaseline helps maintain the pliability of the rubber.
Great Tip!
Hello, cam I ask how would you apply that Vaseline? Like directly on the exterior of the rubber?
Vaseline breaks down rubber. Use silicone grease instead.
As a nurse, I know that petroleum-based Vasoline will break-down rubber so I advise to use a water-based product for latex condoms. Whether or not your gasket is made of rubber, well, that I don't know.
@@erikaquatsch2190 If it's a petroleum based product and it breaks down rubber, why is it used as a skin protectant? Isn't that a bad thing?
thank you but what heating degrees i should look for ?
as hot as possible with hair dryer.
You will not melt seal with hair dryer.
Only heatgun will melt the seal, use low setting on heatgun.
are you kidding? I can't wait to try it.
It worked! Used a heat gun!
How long it's stay properly?
Is this permanently or temporary
This is permanent fix. There are other ways to fix this issue as well. Such as putting something underneath the seal to lift it up in that area.
Can I use silicone Kwik seal for the around the door 🚪?
Legend!!!
God bless you

Good
Will this work on a freezer door that’s turned on? Do I have to defrost everything 😭
It depends, Do you have Chest Freezer or Upright freezer?
@@FridgeSeal we have an upright freezer. Big one.

Freezer now holds at 15 degrees
Refrigerator holds at 35 degrees
glad it helped mate
Your Freezer is to warm with 15°F, it must be near -0,4°F.

is the door sealing properly when closed?

I just got a new fridge and it doesn't seal well. When I close the fridge the freezer pops open.
This is a common issue, but there are a few things you can try to help:
Hair Dryer Trick: Use a hair dryer to gently heat the seal. This can help it regain its shape and improve its sealing capability.
Vaseline: After using the hair dryer, apply a small amount of Vaseline around the outside of the seal to enhance its flexibility and create a better seal.
Adjusting the Legs: If the above methods don't fix the issue, try adjusting the front legs of the freezer to be slightly higher than the back legs. This can help ensure the door closes properly if it pops open.
Is it okay if the new gasket doesn't close properly? i mean does it take 1-2 days to fit in?
it can take 1-2 days to settle in but it shoud stil close proplery. Try using a hair dryer to mould into shape.
Is that every time you open and close the fridge :?
For me Hot boiling water also is good!!!!
Can I do this while the fridge is on and not empty?
yes!
Best advice is to add 50ml of sulphuric acid to the compressor before regassing to reduce corrosion
Thanda hone par loose nahi rahegi
I couldn't have said it better myself.
Yeah but that is not a hair dryer . I’m sure that gets way hotter that any hair dryer would. So my question is, would my hair dryer at home work and do the same thing?
Tried it with a hair dryer sat for 30 minutes nothing didn't move ugh
try heating the inside/underneath the seal if possible then close the door and heat the outside. make sure its on the hottest setting, use your fingers to pull the seal out as well. hope this helps
Fix your fire alarm battery
haha thank you

That's a heat gun I have one
Ok now I’m confused - do we use a heat gun or blow dryer ok??
@@ladyleaner200 A hairdryer works just fine.
he addressed in the video he's using a heat gun but recommended a hair dryer
@@dalizombee6955he said either.
This is not a hairdryer. It's a Heat gun.
correct, hair dryer might be better for people at home to use though so they dont melt their seal.
He loterally said that at loke 20 seconds in.
That’s not a hair drier it’s a heat gun
I often call a heat gun a hairdryer in my videos because if you're not careful, you'll likely melt the seal with it. Real tradies often pick this up
After heat appears, the gape come back again
Try pull the seal out iwth your fingers,
Make sure to heat the inside and underneath the seal then go around and do the outside,
make sure to leave door closed for as long as possible afterwards.
