Nat King Cole's voice was so unique and had such a beautiful velvet sound to it. Whether you are old enough to remember him (I am) or not you have to be moved by this wonderful tribute to him by his daughter, a great singer in her own right. Very moving no matter how many times you hear it!
I lost my dad when I was 19. So I feel her pain. ❤ I don't know how she got thru that arrangement without crying. It is touching if you lived through both times. I was a growing kid when Nat was a major singer and even had his own variety show on TV. He died of lung cancer, a Major smoker. So when I first heard this duet I was blown away. I'm sure he heard it. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤😢
This Father daughter duet is so beautiful and memorable, and their voices blend so well. Unforgettable has been sung by many but Nat King Cole owns this lovely ballad.
This was a major hit when it came out - it was played at weddings a lot (father/daughter dance) or even bride & groom’s first dance as husband and wife. It was groundbreaking at the time because no one had ever done this type of duet before. And it was SO well done. Nat King Cole was so much more than Christmas music. He had such a mellow, silky voice that was so pleasant to listen to. His daughter Natalie became a huge singing star in the 70’s and had big R & B hits, and eventually she crossed over into Pop. You really should check out her music - she was fire! Sadly, she passed in 2015 after several complications from a kidney transplant. She was only 65.
It's really cool how they were able to mix this song together with Natalie singing with her dad. He was such a legend. Love his smooth silky voice. He was an American singer, jazz pianist & actor. He recorded over 100 songs that became hits on the pop charts. He is best known for "Mona Lisa" & "Unforgettable" but he had so many great hits such as "Smile", "(Get Your Kicks on) Route 66", "(I Love You) For Sentimental Reasons", "There! I've Said It Again", "Nature Boy", "Ramblin' Rose", "Those Lazy-Hazy-Crazy Days of Summer" etc.
My son was about 5 years old when this song came out, and for some reason he loved it. He used to shake his head really fast when he tried to sing it, so he could have a vibrato like Nat King Cole. It was so hilarious to see him do that....
I grew up with Nat in the late 50s/60s...my daughters and I loved Natalie's music. I tear up when I hear this duet. I know Nat was smiling down on Natalie from heaven during her career. RIP Nat and Natalie. ❤❤❤
I'm in my 60's. I grew with Nat King Cole as a staple record , vinyl back then, in our household. I always loved Nat's music. Later, I saw his daughter put out a CD with his songs and bought it. I remember that she got so much flack for that. I want to say that there was an SNL skit that poked fun at her singing songs for dead ppl. I don't care. Her voice is as good as her dad's. I thought the CD was a great tribute and still have it.
I love Nat's music. While he comes up because of Christmas music many people under forty don't know about Natalie's long career from the early 1970's- the early 2000. In the 50's-60's Nat was one of the most popular singers. He even had his own TV Show for a season. When Natalie was 15 years old and away at school her father died. For years she wanted her own singing style which was more R&B, Funk, and Disco, in the early days. She stays away from her father songs. In the 90's while trying to recover from her addiction to drugs she when head with a tribute album to her father. Nataile died in 2015.
That was one of the most beautiful tributes I have ever seen. My parents listened to Nat King Cole when I was growing up. I'm 75 now and his voice still brings tears to my eyes.
I got to see Natalie in concert back in the 90’s and when she did this duet it was probably the biggest and longest applause she got during the whole concert. It was truly magical!
I wrote a letter each year to my Son 11:44 about our life the year before. And I would put it in his baby book. He turned 45 this year and he found his baby book. And he enjoyed the chapters of his life and even his baby teeth.
Everyone my age just has to hear his voice, and we know who it is. Natalie did a beautiful job combining her voice with his. If this were my father, I don't think I could do this without crying. His voice was like velvet.❤
I remember when this was released! I loved it then and still do. I have my issues with technology but this is definitely one of the aspects I love about it. Even on “tape”? the family blending of their voices is present. Thank you for reminding me of this video!
Has to be one of my favorite tribute and duet songs of all time. I grew up listening to both of them. Natalie released "This Will Be" in 1975 and was a chart topper back in the day.
Natalie Cole has lots of fantastic music of her own for sure. Beautiful voice. I think many people recall her song This Will Be the most but she made music that was just gorgeous far beyond that one.
3:14 This is fantastic. Their voices blend so beautifully. We had concert tickets to see Natalie but the concert was abruptly cancelled due to her health issues. She passed away shortly after that. The sadness is that they both passed away too soon. Thanks for the great reaction. 👏👏🥰
She developed a career of her own before diving into her dad's iconic music. After he died, she felt she should do this duet before anyone else did it. She had many great hits of her own like This Will Be, Inseparable, and more. She also sang many of her father's hit songs. Sadly we lost her in 2015.
You hit it right on the head. Raise your daughters to see you as no threat but their guardian to the degree that they would treasure any way to interact with you once you pass. Natalie's voice so smoothly blends with her father. This is such a beautiful video. Little dud Nat know when he recorded "Unforgettable," that his daughter would grow to be a singer and use his sing to help ensure that he was unforgettable.
Nat King Cole is such an icon. Donny Osmond does a tribute for Andy Williams where they sing his theme song together. It is just beautiful. Donny’s Vegas show just won “Best of Vegas” award for the 4th year in a row. Andy Williams gave the Osmonds their first big break back in the early 60’s by having them on his show. Donny started on Andy’s show in 1963 at the age of 5. That’s why having Donny do a duet with Andy is such an ironic tribute. You should check it out.
Nat King Cole's voice sounds like the feeling of wrapping up in a soft, fluffy blanket you just pulled out of the dryer on a winter day and curled up in it on the couch with a book. 🥰
I'm here because it's been many years since I heard this song, and I never saw the video. What great memories! You can tell they're related by how well their voices mesh, and each is an artist in their own right.
First I fell in love with Nat's voice, then I heard Natalie and fell in love with hers. When this came out and I first heard it, I was overcome with the love for her father she expressed.
My grandfather was a big fan of Nat King Cole. I have a strong memory of walking up the stairs to my grandparents’ apartment and hearing “ Rambling Rose” coming through the door.
I was a little girl, and we used to watch The Nat King Cole Show, if I remember he was the first person of color to have his own TV show, this was in the early to mid 60's. This is such a beautiful song; it always gives me the shivers.
O my! I listened to Nat King Cole for years- especially on the way home in the car- his voice is soft and loving- thank you Seb- I had forgotten how wonderful he was- I’ll be listening to him again
I saw Natalie live at Chastain Park in Atlanta, GA in the early 1980's. She was phenomenal. When she did this duet with her father, I was just blown away. I grew up listening to them both. Wonderful memories.
Nat King Cole was my dad's favorite singer. His untimely death was a shock to him and many of his generation. I remember when this came out dad and I were in the car together. It touched him so much that he started to cry a little. Now I do the same when I hear this tune because it makes me feel that dad is right here.
When CDs were first coming on the market, my mom wouldn’t consider buying a CD player until we found out whether or not Nat King Cole’s catalog had been released on CD, lol. And while I was born after his heyday, he is also my favorite singer of all time. So that’s why I clicked on your video. I see Nat King Cole in the title and I’m here for it. 😊 Natalie Cole had success in her own right in the pop music genre. A few of her biggest hits were, This Will Be (for which she won a Grammy), Sophisticated Lady, Pink Cadillac & Miss You Like Crazy. I hope you’ll check her out at some point. 👍👍
Steve Perry’s dad was a “crooner” type singer when Steve was growing up. He sang in various local venues. Steve’s parents divorced when he was around seven. Steve’s dad sent him a cassette tape of him singing to Steve for Christmas one year. Years later, his dad passed away. On 10/07/2024, Steve released a new Christmas album called Season 3. From that old cassette tape, Steve created a duet with himself and his dad. The song is “Call Me Irresponsible”. It’s a beautiful rendition. At the end, Steve’s dad wishes his son a Merry Christmas. You can listen to that song and the entire album here on YT. 🤟
Another father and daughter pairing for you :- Neil Sedaka had a hit with Laughter In The Rain around 1974, a fantastic song. There's a video of him and his daughter Dara singing it in Birmingham in 1991 My favourite video of them though is when she still has braces, as the looks he gives her are so loving - it's on Fab TV and the title on here includes the name Guillermo Gomez Navarrp, which will help locate it
I love Nat King Cole and the duet tribute Natalie did with her father. Lisa Marie Presley and her tribute duets to her father are unforgettable. Thank you for such beautiful music 🎶 Merry Xmas to the Duran family.
Natalie Cole has a great catalog you should explore, including I’ve Got Love on My Mind, This Will Be, Miss You Like Crazy and Inseparable to name a few. Her album Unforgettable…With Love won her three Grammy Awards, including Album of the Year and Song of the Year for Unforgettable. If you watch her performance at the 1992 Grammy awards, it will really move you. During her career she was Grammy nominated 21 times and 19 Grammy awards.
Sebs, you like the crooners and have been exploring country music...check out the country crooners, Ray Price "For the Good Times", Eddy Arnold "My World" and Jim Reeves "He'll Have to Go."
Many years ago, when The Land Yacht was still fresh and new, I arrived on a standard dispatched trip to pick-up a fare at The Mansion on Judges Hill. When I pulled up, I got my first look at my passengers. It was an elderly couple, looking to be in their 70’s or 80’s. They got in & asked to be taken downtown to the Four Seasons Hotel. So, down MLK I went & turned down San Jacinto Blvd. Got a little bit of conversation in to get a feel for the mood of the couple & then… As I turned onto San Jacinto, I put on a favorite video of mine (and one that’s now in my top 25 favorites because of what happened next). Natalie Cole doing her famous posthumous duet with her father, Nat King Cole to his old song, Unforgettable. We were breezing through the light at 15th Street when the elderly gentleman leaned up & politely asked me to pull the van over & stop. What happened next was a tear-jerker of a moment if I’ve ever seen one. In the middle of afternoon rush hour traffic, this old man stepped out of the van, “handed” his wife out as well…where the proceeded to dance on the side of the road to the beautiful strains of Unforgettable.
I was thinking of that too. Hank Jr. released a video of "There's a Tear In My Beer" that included a black & white (I believe it was an 8mm film) that was displayed behind Jr. as he sang with his dad.
I came here for some reaction, can't remember the artist then. I stay for the fact you are exploring music in all its genres. I can remember when she did this. Merry Christmas, Happy New Year.
I'm watching because it's fun to see younger people find amazing music - I own this entire CD, and we used it for part of our dinner music at our wedding over 25 years ago. And now that both are no longer with us, it means even more--especially the video.
Both died too young. I was a huge fan of Natalie and had all her albums. Check out "This Will Be (An Everlasting Love)" - a very upbeat "feel good" song.
Natalie was a good singer who had a couple of chart hits worth checking out. Her life was a horror story though so be careful. Nat had many hits through the 40s and 50s. Check out Mona Lisa, Nature Boy, L-O-V-E, Straighten Up and Fly Right….. many others
Natalie was only 15YO when her father died, so obviously they did not have the opportunity to perform together. This is the next best thing. They both died young. (Nat at 45, Natalie at 65)
Nathaniel Adams Coles - March 17, 1919 - February 15, 1965 and Natalie Maria Cole - February 6, 1950 - December 31, 2015 RIP, Both lost to soon! She has many great songs, but one of my favorites is: "This Will Be (An Everlasting Love)". Would be a good listen!
Nat King Cole on his own with the voice that you can’t forget he did some great music I was young but I remember Natalie is a chip off the old block… This is very uplifting for her to do with her dad who had already passed🙏💙💙💙💙
Couldn't CLICK on this one FAST ENOUGH!! SO LOVE NAT KING COLE AND NATALIE COLE: BOTH!! Thanks for listening to this one, Sebs!! Another one that you might like that's father/daughter: Frank Sinatra and Nancy Sinatra: Saying Something Stupid. SO, SO GOOD!! THANKS, AGAIN!! HUGS to YOU & ALI!! MERRY CHRISTMAS to YOU & YOUR FAMILY!!!

I have always loved his voice. Yes, I am old enough to remember him too. This is a very touching tribute. Never knew he had a daughter till now.

@BarbaraBurton-zs7tn from my understanding, there were a lot of tears
This Father daughter duet is so beautiful and memorable, and their voices blend so well. Unforgettable has been sung by many but Nat King Cole owns this lovely ballad.
Natalie Cole is known for her R&B songs, such as This Will Be. She transitioned into Jazz in the 90s. Her tribute album won Album of the Year
It's a shame this style of music has passed. Soothing and pure class. Great to take a step back, thanks.
This was the only duet but Natalie did a whole album of covers of her father's songs.
Natalie Cole was just 15 years old when his father died at the age of 46, and now they are singing in the angels' choir together.
I grew up with Nat King Cole. My mom & dad used to dance to his music in the living room. Nice music, nice memory.

His greatest hits album should be one to play at a dinner party.
My son was about 5 years old when this song came out, and for some reason he loved it. He used to shake his head really fast when he tried to sing it, so he could have a vibrato like Nat King Cole. It was so hilarious to see him do that....
I'm 76 years old and Nat King Cole hs been my favorite male singer for 70 of those years. I remember this performance at the 1992 Grammy Award show.
Both are remarkable singers❤
I grew up with Nat in the late 50s/60s...my daughters and I loved Natalie's music. I tear up when I hear this duet. I know Nat was smiling down on Natalie from heaven during her career. RIP Nat and Natalie.

Sebs - consider putting "This Will Be" on your list. It's a 70's classic.
You have to keep in mind that the technology to create this "Duet" was unheard of. It was a first and it was outstanding considering the time.
It was glorious! I hope it stays in my dreams all night.❤
Natalie Cole has lots of fantastic music of her own for sure. Beautiful voice. I think many people recall her song This Will Be the most but she made music that was just gorgeous far beyond that one.
my mom introduced me to Nat in the early '60s
I love this duet, their voices blended in the ether between here and heaven ❤️
Only one t thing can I say as someone who loved Nat as a child and Natalie later on, this duet and music is UNFORGETTABLE❤❤❤❤❤
3:14 This is fantastic. Their voices blend so beautifully. We had concert tickets to see Natalie but the concert was abruptly cancelled due to her health issues. She passed away shortly after that. The sadness is that they both passed away too soon. Thanks for the great reaction. 👏👏🥰

I love Nat King Cole and the duet tribute Natalie did with her father. Lisa Marie Presley and her tribute duets to her father are unforgettable. Thank you for such beautiful music 🎶 Merry Xmas to the Duran family.
You will love The Nat Cole Trio. He was not just a great singer, but a wonderful Jazz Pianist as well!!
Tears everytime I watch this. Love this.
Amazing when this came out. Sadly Natalie passed away later. So glad she was able to sing with her father. ❤
Because it speaks to the heart. 😊
I used to sing this with my dad at karaoke, will always make me smile

Loved this duet as well as the whole album this came from. Like father like daughter: incredible vocals and beautiful!
Such a beautiful song too
I have that CD and it's timeless and beautiful ❤️❤️

Many years ago, when The Land Yacht was still fresh and new, I arrived on a standard dispatched trip to pick-up a fare at The Mansion on Judges Hill.
When I pulled up, I got my first look at my passengers. It was an elderly couple, looking to be in their 70’s or 80’s. They got in & asked to be taken downtown to the Four Seasons Hotel.
So, down MLK I went & turned down San Jacinto Blvd. Got a little bit of conversation in to get a feel for the mood of the couple & then…
As I turned onto San Jacinto, I put on a favorite video of mine (and one that’s now in my top 25 favorites because of what happened next).
Hank Williams Jr did the same thing with Hank Sr. With a song called there's a tear in my beer and there's a video for it.
Orchestration by the great Nelson Riddle who was most famous for providing the orchestration for Frank Sinatra.

Everything about this makes me smile.
Natalie Cole was such a beautiful voice. One great song by her is This Will Be.
Now they are singing together in heaven ❤
Lisa Marie Presley did this with her dad Elvis also. The song, Don't Cry Daddy.
Check out Mona Lisa, Nature Boy, L-O-V-E, Straighten Up and Fly Right….. many others
UGH - CRYING, NOW!!
One of the best duets ever ❤️
Natalie was an amazing artist with perfect pitch. She was certainly her father's child. May they both continue rest in peace.
Natalie was only 15YO when her father died, so obviously they did not have the opportunity to perform together. This is the next best thing. They both died young. (Nat at 45, Natalie at 65)
It is priceless to see someone discover something wonderful when I know what is coming! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻💙💙💙👍👍👍😊
This is my zen music 🎶. My 40 yr old son loves him as well.
I wonder how many weddings featured this for the first bride/groom dance? An unforgettable song.(pun intended). 🥰
Natalie and Andre Bocelli do a duet of his famous Christmas song that is very pleasant to listen to also.
I loved this when it first came out and it was played a lot, but it's not heard much anymore. Thanks for doing this one.
I’m here because I’ve always loved this song.
So touching, right? Love their voices together!
Merry Christmas Sebs! Hugs love. Have beautiful day!😊
Dean Martin and Tony Bennett as well as Bing Crosby ( great velvety voices)
I think that he would have been so proud of this combination, and amazed at the technology.
