Just saw, “Last Summer” for the first time and WOW!! Catherine’s acting was exceptional 💯. That three minute monologue should be shown in acting schools all over the world! She most definitely should have won the award. May she rest in paradise 🙏🏽
Damn, Raquel Welch was absolutely breathtaking back then! Total goddess.
She still is!
Amen, honey. I'm gay and I was totally snatched when I saw Raquel.
STIIIIILLLL ITS UNBELIEVABLE HOE GREAT SHE LOOKS NOW
She just floated in.
Indeed!
Catherine Burns' eye roll is one of the funniest things I've ever seen!
Yeah. I wonder why she did that.
She knew she had no chance of winning.
@@Bekka241 Catherine Burns hated her performance, hated Last Summer,
and hated everything about Hollywood.
As for the Oscars, she said "It was so idiotic."
I know I'm a girl....but GOOD GRIEF RAQUEL WELCH WAS SMOKIN.
Raquel Welch did a great job accepting the award for Goldie Hawn.
I think I have watched the snippet from the point where she floats on stage about 5 times now....in a row...consecutively. Wow.
Catherine Burns' eye rolling is one of the funniest things I've ever seen.
Raquel deserved an Oscar for her beautiful acceptance of Goldi Hawn’s Oscar.
🤣
The first time Burt Reynolds saw Raquel Welch, and was considered a male sex symbol himself, said she was the most breathtaking, stunning and beautiful woman he had ever seen.
Raquel Welch is the last person id have accepting my award! She’s so beautiful that no one would remember the award recipient!!
As evidenced in this comment board fifty years post event.
See Goldie’s response in winning the award o an episode of Laugh In and you’ll see why Goldie is Golden.
Besides I bet they knew each other from laugh in.
Raquel deserved an oscar for her breathtaking beauty
I never really dug Raquel (RIP...), but I have to say this is definitely the best I've ever seen her look - especially her hair! 😊❤ She sure sounded so sweet too!
@@dawnwelch6579
That's because you have absolutely No Chance... None... Not in a million years to look even a hundredth as good as Raquel! Or even a thousandth for that matter
God... The outstanding beauty of Raquel Welch leave me speechless every time
Raquel Welch looked like a *GODDESS*! Hot damn!
Did anyone else see Burns kinda roll her eyes?
+Lucas Gellar Everybody saw it. And I still don't get it.
Lucas Gellar rolling eyes back is sometimes a reaction to pleasure or something that is done when we are trying to remember something. It doesn't always mean annoyance or that we're mocking something.
Immediately )
I took it as a, “OMG, I can’t believe this really happening” moment.
Who the fuck is burns? Um Goldie hawn=icon
I love this, especially since Goldie Hawn didn't know Raquel Welsh or had ever met her and didn't know she'd won.
They were both on Laugh-In in different episodes of course so they must have met and must have known about each other.
I initially thought that was a dark Goldie in costume until they did a close up. Raquel Welch was a beauty.
Wow, Goldie never look better, she is drop dead gorgeous 🥰
Critics made very catty remarks about Raquel's dress and hair in 1970. However, she looks beautiful and the dress is fine! A critic wrote Raquel looked like a "Barbecue Queen at a Bar Mitzvah". Catty and not true. Raquel later wrote that she bought this dress herself at a shop called "Granny Takes a Trip" in LA. The reality was that she was and remains stunning!
Mr. Blackwell the designer said that about Raquel Welch.
Legendary store too
Ingrid Bergman also should have been nominated for wonderfully comic turn in the same film (Cactus Flower). Much as I love Goldie, for me, Ingrid really ran away with this one. It's an often overlooked performance in her remarkable career.
Ingrid Bergman didn't make many comedies, but she was great in this film
Indeed! She had impeccable timing! Truly a great thespian ❤
I'm so glad somebody brought this point up I was wondering to myself how the hell Ingrid Bergman couldn't get at least nominated for her part in the same movie..? She actually in my mind's eye stole the show, not taking anything away from Goldie's performance of course which was excellent but Ingrid played the whole gamut here across the board and nailed every moment and glued the whole movie together I cannot help but think she felt bad being left out at least given a nod.. even back then the Oscars often dropped the ball..
Raquel was 30 here ,she looked and acted younger... so healthy looking !
Raquel Welch looks stunning in this clip and even looks breathtaking today on 6/21/11 !
Love Catherine Burns rolling her eyes. She really hated the fact that she was nominated. So did Susanah York
I dont want to discredit any performer here but must say Susanah York in They Shoot Horses was spectacular.
Wow. Big surprise reaction from the audience. What a great line up of performances.
Many critics, including Roger Ebert and Rex Reed ardently hoped that Catherine Burns would win. Apparently, her performance in Last Summer was one for the ages.
It really is. Good luck finding a bootleg copy of Last Summer. It's possible but requires a bit of searching. But very much worth it. Burns' performance is outstanding. Been trying to find out what'd happened to her since viewing the movie for the 1st time about 6 years ago. Heartbroken seeing her featured in the Oscar's In Memoriam the other day. 😢
@@ronaldh8446 Is it really that hard to find?
@@film79 - many years ago I did a search for a DVD for it and lucked out finding a company dedicated to bootlegging obscure titles.
It's a really good film.
The Best performance of that year
Raquel.. .. No one was hotter in those days.
I need to travel back to 1970 and somehow marry Raquel!
The Marisa Tomei type win back in the day. Even though Goldie won the golden globe also, so her victory wasn’t completely out of nowhere, unlike Marisa who wasn’t even up for the globe. Plus this may have been the only year where all actresses nominated in a category were the same hair color-blonde-even though some may have been helped by bleach-Hawn and Cannon.
Raquel Welch in this clip is the most beautiful person ever.
According to an interview by Goldie Hawn, she decided to go to London instead of attending the ceremony because she felt that she wasn't going to win anyway. She only found out that she won from a friend who called Goldie (who was asleep) in the middle of the night.
Indeed - and she just recently saw this clip, too!
I found out that Susannah York died just this January while watching the "In Memoriam" segment in this year's oscars. WOW, I was surprised and very sad to learn that. A very beautiful, versitile, very talented and dedicated actress. She will be missed.
She was in Tom Jones AND A Man for All Seasons! 2 best pictures and lost anyway. A crying shame.
my god how beautiful is raquel?
Damn--Raquel Welch is a beautiful woman!
Rip Raquel, everything about you was beautiful beginning with that special sprint...
RIP goddess
The one and only Raquel Welch!
Stunningly beautiful.
Celia Johnson was overlooked, no nomination for her work in THE PRIME OF MISS JEAN BRODIE! An Oscar would not have been wasted on her.
Celia Johnson could have won it, let alone being nominated. I think also Pamela Franklin deserved a nom for her role in Maggie Smith's first Oscar vehicle
Maggie first Oscar nomination was for OTHELLO (1965).
Wow, Raquel Welch stunningly beautiful!
That eye movement at 0:14 seemed to say, "oh yeah, like right." 😉
Goldie was pure magic in "Cactus flower". Fully deserved.
Goldie Hawn has great acting in Cactus Flower.
she just did an extended laugh in skit. she was better in butterflies. diane cannon should have one
The line I remember is Goldie’s “A man who lies cannot love.”
Susannah York in They Shoot Horses Don't They, should have won the Oscar, this year!
And to think just a year earlier Goldie was playing Sandy on Good Morning World. Had that sitcom been picked up for a second season her life would've been completely different.
Her beauty is breathtaking. And she made a deal with the devil because the woman can't age either! She looked 50, tops, when she was solidly in her 70s!
Good for Goldie. I'll bet she was in London doing that movie with Peter Sellers I can't remember it's name but it was good. All of Goldie's movies are good even ones critics say weren't.
OMG - One gorgeous talented screen siren accepting on behalf of another!
abslutely gorgeous dress Raquel,
the 70s the 80s so classy, real beauty...
Raquel is so beautiful
She was filming, "There's A Girl In My Soup." Along with Peter Sellers.
I wish Catherine burns had won. It was an incredible performance.
Vaccaro wasn't even nominated. Neither was Shirley Jones. Such is life.
I personally think Susanna York should have won
@@jamesmonroe7751 Vaccaro was great but Miles nailed down the theme of the movie with her short performance.
Weird that Catherine never did another big screen movie after that
@@viralbuthow000 I believe that the great actress, Barbara Stanwyck raved about what Sylvia Miles did in those few minutes she was on screen!
Raquel Welch was stunning. The way she ran onto the stage!
Raquel was a vision.
To be honest, I've never seen Cactus Flower, but Goldie is a class-act. However, this was a tough year as Catherine Burns was brutally visceral in her portrayal of a lonely, naive and eventually contaminated young woman in "Last Summer."
My favorite portrayal here, though, is Dyan Cannon. Her character of Alice (Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice) seemed to be the most conflicted/natural with the representation of contrasting viewpoints of the conservative housewife, to a swinging 1960s sexual mores.
So stunning Rachel!
I would love to have heard Goldie's acceptance speech.
Same 😭 but thats goldie too modest at heart she didn't think she would win so she was off on another set
Raquel Welch is so beautiful
How did Goldie not show up to win an Oscar? It was her very first role too! These performances were all great so a lot of them cancelled themselves out.
She was in UK for film
Did you not hear the very logical reason she was not the there???
Raquel Welch is very beautiful
Insane that Goldie won for a dumb film vs. Catherine Burns for Last Summer. By the way, love the tan Raquel!
DAMN Raquel Welch 😍😍😍
Dyan and Goldie still going strong in 2023.
Oh my goodness, could Raquel Welch be any more gorgeous?
wow it is so cool seeing all these from way back before my time! :)
Cannon and York certainly gave great performances too, as did Burns, but Goldie Hawn in "Cactus Flower" was one of the most endearing performances of all time. For those who think she "didnt deserve it", try watching the film again. The film was one of the biggest hits that year for a good reason.
I will need to watch Goldie's film now.
_Cactus Flower_ was a real snore 💤💤
@@donarthiazi2443shut up you little ignorant sh*t. Why would you say that, even if it is or isn't, don't say sh*t like that here.
Wow, Raquel looked great.
Wowsers they all look so happy to be nominated! Lol
Omg shes beautiful like
raquel welch is so hot and beautiful
She is indeed!
Back when the Oscars mattered and true stars.
Apparently Catherine Burns hated the movie and probably didn’t even want to be there, hence the eye roll. She was pretty reclusive and would rather have been known as writer.
If I were nominated for such a prestigious award, I would have been there, no matter what.
Goldie Hawn just recently watched this clip - and she said she does regret not going, especially just finding out that her idol, Fred Astaire read the announcement!
Yes, your 1st acting gig. You know you're not winning. But you DEMAND that your director in London let you fly to LA.
Goldie Hawn was great in Cactus Flower. And Raquel Welsh, she's so beautiful and thoughtful!
Strong lineup.
SO HOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Raquel should had won an Oscar everytime she appeared on the Academy Awards shows!
@zim83
Sylvia did say in an interview a few years later, "I didn't mind losing the Oscar. But to Goldie Hawn??? Please" Actuallt Goldie was the lead in CF but it was her moment and the world fell in love. The best performance? A toss-up between Burns and York. Both were brilliant. Period.
catherine burns is all rolling her eyes like "whatever, can I go now?" I like that attitude. could she be an early tina fey?
HOLY CRAP! Raquel Welch is hot.
Least deserving oscar in my opinion. Dyan Cannon, Catherine Burns and Susannah York were all more deserving
RIP RAQUEL
Everybody looks so fed up and tired lol!
laughs except for Raquel
In Goldie Hawn’s E! True Hollywood Story they say she didn’t go to the Oscars because she thought Dyan Cannon would win.
should've been Catherine Burns.
Raquel Welch makes me wish I was straight
The good ole days
she was holding the oscar like it was hers
@zim83
Maggie & Goldie switched awards for 1 reason. Maggie was performing at the Ahamanson theater in Design For Living. She presented the first award before she went to the theater. The lead actor award was presented while Maggie was onstage.
I found this because I wanted to see the beautiful Goldie Hawn accepting her Oscar, but I can't say I was disappointed!
wow,Fred Astaire,he should have just made an epic step-dance exit with the oscar :)
They all look decidedly uninterested.
Not at all. Subdued perhaps. It was their time, for work they did. Expecting someone to act a certain way or look, is ridiculous.
Indeed, I hear the one that actually won didn't even bother to appear and accept her trophy.
Burns SOOOO deserved it (or Cannon), but I'm still happy for Goldie.
Magníficos premios de los oscars
Rachel welch as always a diva todas in 2020
I get Hawn winning and who doesn't love her overall...but York really deserved that. They Shoot Horses was fantastic acting all around.
York really deserved this one. Hawn should have waited for Sugarland Express. Cannon should have won for Heaven Can Wait aka Here Comes Mr. Jordan. All things being equal.
Well, hello Raquel Welch.
Racquel. Holy fuck sticks.....stunning woman
I love that Goldie Hawn Oscar came from a comedy act as she was always commited to that kind of roles and always delivered!
LMAO at the eyeroll at 0:14 She knew she didn't have a snowball's chance in hell of winning.
+Matt G. Maybe she had a premonition at that exact moment that Goldie would win. Burns really deserved it though. If you thought her eyes were rolling BEFORE the winner was announced...
God bless Raquel Welch.
Wow. Racquel Welch.
Raquel is so gorgeous.
