      Both sometimes lol , but sky’s and getting the right balance and brightness of the colours is a challenge, I’m very much novice when it comes to proper values.
      I use acrylics and the drying darker thing is a learning curve I’m still circling lol

      I paint strictly in acrylics, so blending the sky is hard for me, but i have learned soooo much just from watching your videos, the full length ones are the best! Thank you for the inspiration Chuck

    Carpel Tunnel Syndrome? I've been painting for 38 years. I am left handed and I got it really bad. So I taught myself how to paint with my right. So, then got it in my right hand. Yes, I'd say I'm a mess but I can't stop painting. Since I found you I want to paint everything you have painted. Such beautiful beautiful work!!

    I find both difficult, but out of two I would say skies. For me, it is about the blending of the colours. I can cover up mistakes better when painting the land. Skies are a lot more time consuming, especially if they are colourful.

    Beautiful sunset/beautiful painting!!! Happy to see you are doing better, and getting back into the groove of the full-length tutorials.
    Since I work almost exclusively in oils, skies nor land really give me much problem. The "what you see is what you get", and longer working time properties of the oils, makes the blending and details go much better and faster, for me, using them, for skies and land.
    Take Care of that wrist - that's the painting hand, and keep that cold beat away ;-}

    Skies are more tricky with acrylics when you’ve done it with oils haha more work into the land so maybe in that sense land is harder for the details. Skies seem pretty basic. Only so many elements make up the sky ya know. Nice sweatshirt! UND! wish you were teaching there! Awesome as always chuck! Ima huge fan!

    I couldn't read the can you used to spray on your sketch. Did it seal the graphite? Does it keep it from bleeding through the paint? Sky, clouds and sunsets are very difficult for me. Seems to take days to get it right. Your talent makes it look effortless.

    Ok Chuck, you are by far the BEST realistic landscape/animal artist I have ever seen on here!!! I actually think that you might even be better then (forgive me fans), Bob Ross! You blow my 🤯mind!! If I could be half as goood as you, I’d be super happy! I was wondering if you could do super dumbed down BASIC little mini tutes whereas one would be how to do clouds (ie which brush to use, colour mixing etc), 2 how to do trees ( I did watch your tutorial on that, but I was hoping for more basic lol 3 how to suns so they don’t look like this ☀️🥺🙄and sunsets! Maybe even one just strictly on brushes and what kind of stokes the do. Some tips and tricks? I don’t know. All I know is I’m feeling kind of frustrated at my lack of ability😢 please help! Thanks in advance 😉

    Hi Chuck! Love your work! Love watching you paint! It seems that midtones/shadows/ hi lights work the same whether it’s rock, water, or clouds... same techniques would work with a white sand beach sunset? Is this correct? The sand in my reference photo has lots of definition... makes me nervous.

    Sorry that I reply a second time to that video. Youre totally right with Oil and acrylics. Since im kinda "impatient" I`m very happy about acrylics. I can do my overall Idea fast with the acryls but oil is so smooth and "easy" (to blend as well as "sculpt") it always a possibility to make it a way less edgy. I know you do`t do portraits, but here i think its a real relief to make it look fastly looking like the person but working out wrinkles and stuff with Oil;) greets from germany

    What's your thoughts on doing a painting such as this in acrylics first to block the colors, get a clearer picture of the look you're aiming for and then do oils on top once it has dried? Would it be a good idea to wait for the acrylics to cure first?

    Chuck please answer this. How can I make my paints, that come out quite thick, as liquidy as your golden fluid paints. Do I add water maybe? Great work as well!

    • @chuckblackart
      @chuckblackart  6 лет назад

      Hey Anna, Thanks and thank you for the question! Sure, so the issue with heavy body paints like you have is that when you thin them down you are going to thin down the pigment load in them as well which makes them not cover as well. Water combined with a medium like flow or glazing medium can work. You still won't be able to get them to work as good as a soft body paint right out of the bottle however. So I think it's a temporary solution to thin your current paints, but I would suggest looking at soft body paints in the future. Hope that helps clear up some things for you!
