Both sometimes lol , but sky’s and getting the right balance and brightness of the colours is a challenge, I’m very much novice when it comes to proper values. I use acrylics and the drying darker thing is a learning curve I’m still circling lol
I paint strictly in acrylics, so blending the sky is hard for me, but i have learned soooo much just from watching your videos, the full length ones are the best! Thank you for the inspiration Chuck
Carpel Tunnel Syndrome? I've been painting for 38 years. I am left handed and I got it really bad. So I taught myself how to paint with my right. So, then got it in my right hand. Yes, I'd say I'm a mess but I can't stop painting. Since I found you I want to paint everything you have painted. Such beautiful beautiful work!!
Thanks Chuck for this full length Acrylic video! It helped me to see more in my own art journey.... And then to show what the difference looks like with the oils on top... Soft icing to the cake! Wow...It's Beautiful!!❣️
Thank you Chuck. I have enjoyed watching you paint . I'm sorry I can not watch much longer I'm getting very tired. I have been through four operations since October and I have to stop for now I need to rest. I will get back to your Sunset some time tomorrow. Have a blessed day. Thanks for all you do for us.
So gorgeous Chuck , the first time I saw your work, the way you capture light reminded me of Kinkade , To me you have a much more realistic feel and damn can you make the light shine bright ! Awesomeness 🌅
I find both difficult, but out of two I would say skies. For me, it is about the blending of the colours. I can cover up mistakes better when painting the land. Skies are a lot more time consuming, especially if they are colourful. Thank you Chuck for another amazing video!
Chuck, your artwork is beyond amazing! I've been following you for a long time now and never realy commented. I can say for myself that your work has been a huge inspiration! Always glad when I see a new upload! Keep up the amazing work and thanks for sharing your paintings and knowledge! :)
Superb Chuck!...You have master the art of painting. You always make my day watching you paint before i go to sleep.Love you Chuck.Keep on painting and sharing your beatiful talent...God Bless you always...Charito
Chuck, I learned so much from this one. I've been working on my mountains and sunsets for a while (years). I love the way this one turned out, AND I'd love to show you the one I've been working on this week. I'll probably finish it with oils too!
Hello Chuck , your paintings are always awesome and beautiful . I love to follow them . Thanks a lot. Wish you and your family a very happy Christmas!❤️🌺💐😇
Your channel must have million subscribers Whatever Your work needs patience which a few people has and So is your progress in path of becoming world famous. You will reach it
Beautiful sunset/beautiful painting!!! Happy to see you are doing better, and getting back into the groove of the full-length tutorials. Since I work almost exclusively in oils, skies nor land really give me much problem. The "what you see is what you get", and longer working time properties of the oils, makes the blending and details go much better and faster, for me, using them, for skies and land. Take Care of that wrist - that's the painting hand, and keep that cold beat away ;-} Have a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS, and a HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
Once again a breathtakingly beautiful painting. Thanks for sharing your long version with us. I really appreciate you taking the time for us like you do. Why do you use water in addition to your medium? Chuck, I’m so glad you’re cold is nearly gone. How is your hamstring doing? Hope it is healing as well! Do take care of yourself. We appreciate you.
Hi Chuck. To answer the question I think this type of sky is by far more difficult. You make it look so easy and beautiful I’m sure it would take me 3x as long to get even close to your sky. 😳 Really love this painting thanks again for sharing.
Hey chuck I think you are should also make some easy videos for the beginners. However you are the best artist in the world and your paintings are just speechless
So happy to watch you paint again you are my favorite painter on you tube. Can you please tell me what brush you are using for the clouds. It is red. Thank you for all you do for us.
Skies are more tricky with acrylics when you’ve done it with oils haha more work into the land so maybe in that sense land is harder for the details. Skies seem pretty basic. Only so many elements make up the sky ya know. Nice sweatshirt! UND! wish you were teaching there! Awesome as always chuck! Ima huge fan!
Also there’s usually more steps to making land than skies. I appreciate you’re videos! Not only are they a joy to watch but I’ve learned so much from you! Not only do you have incredible talent to paint but also amazing talent for teaching!
I couldn't read the can you used to spray on your sketch. Did it seal the graphite? Does it keep it from bleeding through the paint? Sky, clouds and sunsets are very difficult for me. Seems to take days to get it right. Your talent makes it look effortless.
I am watching your sunset tutorial. What have you put on your right arm? Is to help steady your hand? My hand can get somewhat shaky plus I tend to to use to heavy pressure.
Excellent demo, Chuck. For me the land is harder. Getting the various shades and tones to convey the contours of the land gives me fits..lol. We just keep trying. Eventually it gets to be what we want in our painting.
Ok Chuck, you are by far the BEST realistic landscape/animal artist I have ever seen on here!!! I actually think that you might even be better then (forgive me fans), Bob Ross! You blow my 🤯mind!! If I could be half as goood as you, I’d be super happy! I was wondering if you could do super dumbed down BASIC little mini tutes whereas one would be how to do clouds (ie which brush to use, colour mixing etc), 2 how to do trees ( I did watch your tutorial on that, but I was hoping for more basic lol 3 how to suns so they don’t look like this ☀️🥺🙄and sunsets! Maybe even one just strictly on brushes and what kind of stokes the do. Some tips and tricks? I don’t know. All I know is I’m feeling kind of frustrated at my lack of ability😢 please help! Thanks in advance 😉
Hi Chuck! Love your work! Love watching you paint! It seems that midtones/shadows/ hi lights work the same whether it’s rock, water, or clouds... same techniques would work with a white sand beach sunset? Is this correct? The sand in my reference photo has lots of definition... makes me nervous. Haven’t had any art instruction.... just decided to paint a while back. You are inspiring!!
Sorry that I reply a second time to that video. Youre totally right with Oil and acrylics. Since im kinda "impatient" I`m very happy about acrylics. I can do my overall Idea fast with the acryls but oil is so smooth and "easy" (to blend as well as "sculpt") it always a possibility to make it a way less edgy. I know you do`t do portraits, but here i think its a real relief to make it look fastly looking like the person but working out wrinkles and stuff with Oil;) greets from germany
What's your thoughts on doing a painting such as this in acrylics first to block the colors, get a clearer picture of the look you're aiming for and then do oils on top once it has dried? Would it be a good idea to wait for the acrylics to cure first?
I've just obsessed over painting and drawing since I was a toddler. To whether what I do was gifted or not, all I can say is it didn't come easy for the first 10 years.. I had to work a ton at it to get to say where I'm at now
Skies and clouds are very easy for me, but what I have trouble is with mountains and land. I suppose it's because here in South Texas we have Open Skies and There are no mountains down here in Mission.
Hey Chuck! You have created another beauty!! Glad you are feeling better.. Colds suck. Did u hurt your wrist? I noticed your bandage last two paintings.. Ive broken my arm twice with full cast and its a long healing process.. I hope its ok! Take care my friend!! This is truly beautiful!! Hope you have a Merry Christmas!! 🙋🏽🎨💙🎄🎅🏼
I have a question to ask .what we can do to make shine the painting.imean after some time it becomes dull .so what can be done.i hope u will answer my curiousness Chuck
Chuck please answer this. How can I make my paints, that come out quite thick, as liquidy as your golden fluid paints. Do I add water maybe? Great work as well!
Hey Anna, Thanks and thank you for the question! Sure, so the issue with heavy body paints like you have is that when you thin them down you are going to thin down the pigment load in them as well which makes them not cover as well. Water combined with a medium like flow or glazing medium can work. You still won't be able to get them to work as good as a soft body paint right out of the bottle however. So I think it's a temporary solution to thin your current paints, but I would suggest looking at soft body paints in the future. Hope that helps clear up some things for you!
Hey Chuck, thank you for sharing your great art. I tried to join but, it looks like Google still has my American express card that I no longer use. How can I change the card? I didn't see a place.
Thank you! So I tried a quick search in the youtube help center and I believe this should be it - support.google.com/a/answer/1229455 Hope that helps, I appreciate the support
Thanks Tom, most welcome! I'll definitely be sharing more oils in the future, although I'm still very much so trying to learn all I can. I really don't feel comfortable sharing and talking about it all yet.. I will though all in time!
So I'm just curious, what do you guys think is harder.. Painting skies or painting the land?
You are great
Both sometimes lol , but sky’s and getting the right balance and brightness of the colours is a challenge, I’m very much novice when it comes to proper values.

Thanks Kristen!! Means a lot to me!
Agreed. He makes it look so easy. Acrylic can be a miserable thing to work with. Masterful.
This is ever so beautiful Chuck, love to watch you paint.. I find skies harder to paint, especially sunset ones.
You make this painting look so easy and wonderful! Good job Chuck Black👍
Wow! Awesome tutorial and painting! Thanks Chuck💜

Skies for me. I can never get them to look good like yours! But, I am improving by watching all of your excellent videos! Thank you!

Are you serious dude?!!! This is amazing. I owe a lot of my art growth to you. Can't wait to paint alongside.

Love this sunset - it's inspired me to have a go - thank you

Hermoso trabajo. Me encantan tus tutoriales, sos un gran maestro. Gracias. Saludos desde Argentina
Chuck, can you use the water mixable oils at the end. Would you still have to varnish the acrylic painting first. Thanks so much for this video,
Thanks for your patience on the purchase of a print I am planning to share it with other's in a nursing home.

I have a question sir please must answer me."Is this stunning painting skill is God Gifted OR you are learned any school?".
I've just obsessed over painting and drawing since I was a toddler. To whether what I do was gifted or not, all I can say is it didn't come easy for the first 10 years.. I had to work a ton at it to get to say where I'm at now
I will answer that Chuck when i have painted some 😂im a new starter but definitely feel like i have potential so i suppose thats encouraging
Hi Chuck! Loving your work! When you say fine canvas, what weight is it, please? Thanks. Keep,up the great work!
Lovely 😉
Великолепно! я с огромным удовольствием рисовала с тобой и у меня получилось!Love from Ukraine.You are very talanted.Amazing!
That's is amazing painting
Thank you so much for your instructional video.
Would you have a complete course for beginners somewhere?
What size canvas is this. Whow. I love your work so much. I’m also wanting to know how old you are 11/22???
Chuck, could you do a video on how you got into painting? Formal or informal education. the path that led you to be a great painter.
so beautiful ...
Wao wonderful 👏👌👍🌹
What do you spray your sketch with that you can still paint over Chuck?
amazing job
sir I want to question you in this oil painting u consume which time and days to complete this

@@sushilasharma3837 you can use a gloss finish for your top coat if u want a shiny finish. They also make a satin and matte. I hope this helps you! 😊
Chuck please answer this. How can I make my paints, that come out quite thick, as liquidy as your golden fluid paints. Do I add water maybe? Great work as well!

So why do you use the fixative over the pencil? Isn’t it hard to cover? What about using chalk pencils? Or just really fine chalk.
Hey Chuck, thank you for sharing your great art. I tried to join but, it looks like Google still has my American express card that I no longer use. How can I change the card? I didn't see a place.

Thank You for sharing your painting time with U.S. it’s vere nice. Meryem Christmas.
Thanks Chuck. Beautiful. Chuck, do you think I could use matt spray varnish over the pencil?
You probably could, but I don't know the long term effects/consequences of painting over a varnish layer like that... if there is any
@@chuckblackart Thanks for responding so quickly! You're such an inspiration to me!
What did you spray on canvas before you started painting?
sir so beautiful
Suuuuuuuper!
Beautiful!! Could you painting Christmas landscape??❤❤
Thanks Marie, I certainly will be doing winter landscapes soon!
Gorgeous!
Can I use linseed oil instead of the glazing medium?
Definitely the sky. I can't get the clouds the way I want them, yet. Water is still a problem for me too. I'm afraid of reflections. (acrylics)
i like the sunset and the cloud
I wish you would use oil paint only. You probably do in private. However, this painting is indeed beautiful! Thanks for sharing. Tom
Thanks Tom, most welcome! I'll definitely be sharing more oils in the future, although I'm still very much so trying to learn all I can. I really don't feel comfortable sharing and talking about it all yet.. I will though all in time!
Wondering why you would add black to the sky color. Doesn’t black just muddle the pigment?
