Yellowstone Landscape Oil Painting "A Wild Journey" - Bighorn Sheep

- This oil painting of a bighorn ram overlooking a Yellowstone-inspired landscape is based on Gibbon Falls. I was inspired from a visit to this waterfall and my extensive time spend in the Greater Yellowstone backcountry. A big ram takes the lead and his fellow rams bring up the rear. A bald eagle soars overhead beneath a magnificent rainbow. A rider takes his pack train of horses across the river while a second eagle watches from an old dead tree. This painting captures a story which I've wanted to tell for some time and I'm happy to share the process with you today.

Appreciate your honesty and thank you. I have the goal to tell the complex stories that I've experienced and care so much about. There is certainly a line at some point of trying to tell too much in a single painting. However, I think I need to push those boundaries in order to ultimately find the right balance.

Magnificent Chuck. It is clear thst you have an intimate knowledge and passiin for your subject. Very inspirational. I have been painting ( self- taught) for about 15 years and still learning, especially from you. There are many artists who paint pleasing paintings but nothing exceptional that I would buy, but yours capture so much, so many aspects of the beauty and wonder of nature in detail that eclipse most other artists!

Superb Chuck. Im a painter as well, early in my development. I wish I had more time to paint since I need to also work full time. But these landscapes you create are pushing me to become even better still!
