    My turrets usually let the occasional ghoul or mole rat into the camp and half my stuff gets wrecked. On the other hand, my turrets love attacking traveling merchants or just randomly shooting the lights on the side of my house.

However it’s right across from the house where scorched spawn, and I get roaming super mutants and lots of rats. I come back to at least one damaged thing every hour or so. I could move, but I like the spot. All three of my camps are close to mob spawn locations - so they all have turrets. I never did notice how much budget they ate - soooo maybe I need to reconsider

I like when people try to pvp me so I bring my travel camp out put down the prefab 10 enclave heavy laser turrets and 99% of the time they just leave the other 1% get gunned down in .5 seconds and can't even get close to the camp again if they manage to im already in my shelter full of tesla arcs waiting to flip a switch. Critters don't spawn at your camp when there are no 'players' nearby - the problem is - if a player walks through and something spawns (or they're dragging mobs behind them that they're ignoring - and they don't kill it - the random spawn is able to start breaking/eating/bashing things while you're away from your camp. The turrets can prevent that from happening. From my observation knowing 'where' critters are likely to come into play and being selective about turret placement is key to knowing how many you might need and where to place them.

    My main camp is just above the Wayward & while I am out grinding doing daily's & events it get attacked plenty. When I head back home there are plenty of meat piles around my camp with a wealth of ammo & junk for me to scoop up. My issue is the limits on caps, camp size, & script. All Bethesda needs to do is reduce the weight of the items we use to create our camps. Each season & event adds so much junk that it's impossible to use in a meaningful manner.

    • @stetsonscott8209
      @stetsonscott8209 2 месяца назад +1

      I'm fairly certain the reason there are limits is not arbitrary. Bigger camps usually means more server lag. I notice when I have built a ton of stuff at a few workshops, my camp actually has a harder time loading in or displaying higher rez textures. I think the same goes for stash. I think this is what was the underlying issue at the core of the buggy holiday scorched events last month, too many people running workshops with collectors (which have thier own persistent loot stash) and people mass opening gifts (which means rapidly changing inventory contents from spawning multiple items into inventories).

      An alternative to a budget increase could be to offer the chance to get an extra CAMP slot for free, maybe like once a year via a limited time challenge. This would be more performance friendly than messing with the budget but I don't see it happening as long as Beth keeps up the trend monetizing everything and giving us less.

    I built a secondary camp right at the edge of the cabin where the moonshine jamboree event takes place. Because I'm farming raider XP. I set up about 6 turrets and as soon as the event starts they start mowing down the scorched and the gulpers and then all I have to do is casually stroll out my front door and pick up the venom. As a side bonus I have an artillery mortar on top of my base so when it hits Wave 3 going into Wave 4 I run up to the still area and I lob a smoke grenade and fire a barrage of mortar shells

    • @nadaburner
      @nadaburner 2 месяца назад

      With the amount of players and bases there are I imagine huge chunks of the map will be barren then. Players could also just be roaming around and running past enemies which may end up with them leading enemies to your base. Personally I like to keep my main base in a low level area that's also hard to reach. My pet Deathclaw handles those poor molerats very well. I also have a companion station inside just in case they enter.
      A few months ago I had my main base at cranberry bog but the scorchbeasts would ruin everything constantly. Since I moved I have yet to repair anything and I don't need turrets so I can go all in on decorations or construction.

    Haven't seen anyone more than vaguely mention this; but the Daring Cryo Turrets are VASTLY more perceptive than any other turret. Dunno why they are, but with nearly 3000 hours in FO76 I can tell ya's it's true. All other turrets will frequently allow enemies to wreck your camp, including destroying said turrets; but not if ya got Daring Cryo Turrets. Likely has something to do with the Cryo effect, if I had to guess, since it's the only unique effect on a turret. If you're having trouble with enemies destroying your camp, including your turrets; place down a Daring Cryo Turret and ALL your other turrets now seem to have eyes in the backs of their "heads". lol! Seriously, it's amazing the difference in functionality of all your turrets if you have just 1 cryo turret. Of course, not sure how to get those cryo turrets if you didn't get them during the Season 12 Scoreboard...
    ...Ah well...

    Turrets in this game seem to perform pretty inconsistently with tracking. Sometimes I'll come to my camp with half of my turrets destroyed because 1 mob got into my camp and took them out without a shot fired. Other times my turrets will actually start fights with mobs outside of my camp and cause my camp to take hits. One consistent thing about turrets I know for sure is that they're all terrible against scorchbeasts. They'll often 1 hit all of your turrets if they're not spread out. Overall they're not worth using unless mobs have a bad habit of spawning in your camp area or even your house in my case.

    • @TJCeeJay
      @TJCeeJay 2 месяца назад

      If you have access to the Season 12 cryo turrets; a slow motion scorchbeast is a lot easier for your other turrets see and to hit. 😀 I have one of my camps at the Brotherhood patrol near the Pumpkin house, (and near a fissure site.) I intentionally lure scorchbeasts to my camp for the easy scorchbeast meat, lungs, brains, hearts, and livers. I do like my Scorchbeast Mixed Meat Stew! lol! A scorchbeast lasts less than 10 seconds against a single cryo turret, 4 Enclave Missle Turrets, and 5 Enclave Heavy Laser Turrets. And since every time someone spawns into my camp, it respawns a new scorchbeat, I do I do got lots o' stew. lol!

    ALWAYS place turrets on a foundation, never on bare ground! The vanishing turret bug is still a thing, what happens is your turrets can randomly vanish, but will still count towards your maximum count. If you placed your turret on the bare ground and it vanished, you will have to pick up and de-deploy your entire camp to get the turret and the space it takes up back. However if you place your turret on a foundation, you can just pick up the foundation and it will give you the turret back properly.

    Since the Pitt update changes were made to the frequency of camp attacks. I played around with several builds in a enemy spawn location and in a safe area to test it and found A) your camp will get attacked a lot more often if you have turrets B) traps are useless C) your camp will get attacked more often if you have a camp ally. I stopped using turrets based on this. Years ago my first camps would get trashed every day in really safe areas in the Forest region. Also if you don't have turrets griefers have a harder time trashing your camp.

  • @lunarhexagon8108
    @lunarhexagon8108 2 месяца назад +1

    what we definitely need is NUMBER camp budget and costs representation and to it be mentioned also at individual items, at least to it be possible to show/hide it from settings, I hate just ambiguous bar that tells you roughly about how much of what you can put in camp or shelter
    one thing I recommend is to make camp rather minimalist outside, as it get broken anyway and capacity is taken by producers and other actually useful things, I surely plan to focus to niceness of building for shelters, too bad only one and "training" shelter is available to claim by playing game only and rest is from atom shop, I think only one was in one season final reward, how cool would be if next update that apparently involves some cave system brought us some other free shelter for finishing story line or as possible boss drop reward surely would be unique reward to have at some point (still surprised also they havent added UFO shelter in atom shop but damn, I do expect it appear at some point, zetan space ships were in previous Fallout games so they could have rough picture how such thing could be made and since zetans come yearly for event, I guess it even fit in with lore.. +-)
    my first camp was literally pile of junk I put together and got attacked all the time, partially, I guess, as it was close to that one workshop place, so enemies spawned even in my camp when that was captured, my other camp had enemies regularly spawning in my prefab, so turrets were somewhat helpful a little in either case but after while they got overwhelmed, or enemies got to places they could be not shot anyway, also turrets suck at targeting things, at times it takes ages to them do anything, at times they try to shoot thing they cant hit for some reason
    turrets in Fo76 suck, enemies spawn inside camp perimeter and unlike Fo4, you cant really easily just check on spawn locations and counter that, you can do it with extended experimentation yourself only, if to build any turret, make cryo ones, others are not useful at all in my opinion, cryo turrets at least slow enemies down, despite damage itself isnt shining, it actually assists in useful way and costs same as normal machine gun turret too, I however have no idea if you can get it since that season with it on board ended
    what we need is disable mobs attacking camps randomly, at least when owner isnt in camp, some people even lure mobs to camps to destroy them and bypass any protection camps have too, not sure how effective it is but given how often I came to camp and there were ghouls destroying everything, I guess it may be.. my current main camp is in location I got no single damn mob attack and I am so glad, I did built few turrets just for case but I will scrap them once I will need some more budget

    Couldn't agree more. I stopped using turrets ages ago, preferring instead to put all that camp budget into camp design. Occasionally I'd be attacked by enemies, but they never did much damage, mostly none at all. One camp was built near the Georgia guidestones like structure south of RG train station, which seems to on occasion spawn more exotic enemies to attack your camp such as the Mothman or Flatwoods monster, but even they did bugger all damage to my camp. Mind you it is cool to sometimes hear that spooky sound when you have a Flatwoods monster floating around inside your camp, and makes for some memorable camp photos 😁

    Funny thing to me about camp attacks is that the bigger, stronger enemies aren't the ones that damage my structures. It's mole rats that seem to be the biggest trouble simply because they can hide underground then attack again (admittedly, I haven't had scorpions attack my base yet...). My ally has no idea what to do about mole rats...and I don't use turrets...which I'm actually considering changing specifically just for mole rats. Honestly, I just wish there was a "Sound speaker" camp item that was small and prevented invasions from mole rats.

    1 point, they recently turned down the frequency of camp/workshop attacks, so turrets aren't that big of a deal.
    On to the Altoholic side of things.... I build a lot of "newby" camps and I have my camp that has been largely the same for years. For the younger levels, I find that a couple of turrets plus an ally will keep most things at bay. Still get mole rats and dogs eating my dang crops, though.
    For my "utility camp," I have the turrets maxed due to which turrets I have picked. See, there is a cliff a few yards from camp. Fully outside my circle, but Super Mutant Raiders spawn there. Sometimes they plink away til they widdle down my stuff, other times they run down the cliff and actually come into the main camp. I set up a rocket to tag them on the cliff and then as they run in, down below. A couple of heavy turrets (1 or 2 cold, too) cover the rest of the camp, taking care of the robot and other raids that come in from the main spawn area. Nothing stops the mole rats and there is always at least 2 dogs that get through when the packs run in. Then there are the random Scorched that start trying to shotgun snipe my camp from the other side of the river. Seriously, I tracked ricochets and bullet whizzing sounds for hundreds of yards to find a Scorched (usually just 1) trying to shoot my camp, typically with a pistol or short rifle. And it just randomly keeps happening.
    Originally, camps were set to be attacked more often the longer they stayed in one spot. I think this is still there, just turned way down. My oldest camps get attacked way more often than my younger ones, despite the latter being right in the middle of spawns.

    My turrets are pretty weird.
    I have a nice little C.A.M.P. setup on the other side of the stream behind the Wayward where I sell wholesale priced ammo, plans, and mods.
    The problem is, in my game the occasional MoleRat will pop up in the Brahmin pen over there and my rooftop turret will go into "Kill Anything That Moves" mode and proceeds to wipe out all 3 Brahmin in the pen as well. This goes on all day; as soon as a Brahmin revives, it promptly gets shot again.
    Not that I'm complaining, mind you, I just collect the spoils, head on over to the Overseer's camp and cook up a mess of Ribeye Steaks, and then sell those and the skins to Duchess for a nice fat profit every time. =D

    I only bust out turrets if I have built a camp near somewhere that really needs it (ie Toxic Valley and parts of the Mire) I figured out that the amount of times you get attacked at your camp is very low unless you are near a spawn point for a random encounter you generally are good to go! So unless they are there for aesthetics I omit them 97% of the time! People are always shocked at what I can build in my camp and how big my camps are yet never listen when I tell them this same advice. Hope people will listen to you!

    I spawn getting attacked every time. My camp is just south of the Wayward, and North of Slocum's Joe. Right next to the creek. I have it there to help new players, and I run two cryo turrets. It works out ok. I don't have a huge camp, but enough resources and work benches that I think it helps all levels of players.

    I always get hit by mobs. Most builds in Forest. The spawns seem to come from the C.A.M.P. base unit. Almost every time I visit my CAMP there is an incursion. Weird. Wish I had your luck. lol Good vid. Thanks.

    Cryo turrets are best for “regular” builds if you have an issue with enemies spawning.
    They give your ally and pets good support , and also using barricades will draw enemies where you want them to go.
    When I build an “active offence” camp I build all the turrets first so I know what I have left.
    Yes, they take up a TONNE of space but there’s nothing like freezing the SBQ with a flying BOS battleship and an ally running point in a ridiculous costume.
    I don’t use missile turrets at public events because I know people find them annoying, but I really enjoy doing immersive custom builds for difficult events - I even have a camp that lets noobs do neurological warfare without being in harms way.
    If Bethesda don’t stop me, I will eventually have a camp for every outdoor event on the map.
    I expect to get some hate from people for this, it’s ok 👍
    I’ve given out so much free stuff and helped hundreds of noobs get ahead in 76 that I will sleep ok at night ❤️

    I use turrets for defending my camps that are in specific locations for trading, and even then I don't use the full 10. The other thing is I leave turrets dead until I actually need them a lot of times (2/10 turrets dead? don't waste the resources).
    The other thing is that you can put your camp near places that already have defenses. Whitespring bots will help defend your base most of the time.

    I stopped using them a while ago. The budget saved allows me so much more freedom to just enjoy the building experience and the result afterward. Maybe once every 3-4 months I have to repair a wall or my collectron.
    If you take advantage of the free 1st trials once a while to stock up on junk, you're not in any danger of running out of materials either.
    Combine that with the fact that they can't track Radrats or Mole Rats up close, they shoot neutral NPCs at random, and sometimes decide to just fire incessantly into nothing they're pretty useless for most camp locations.

    turret towers are great for eviction notice! it helps absorb a lot of the super mutants and gives the group time to clear out one side and the turret camp can basically tank the one side while someone comes back through and clears it. but my camp used to be in a lead spot in the Bog and would get attacked constantly! i stopped using that spot so i could save on the budget for sure

    I'm usually camped out opposite from the rusty pick, I decided with my latest camp build to do away with turrets, as the only time my camp gets attacked is within the first 5 minutes of me loading into the game. When I did use turrets, I'd find that scorched could still fire at my camp from the rusty pick and be out of range of the turrets anyway.

  • @TheEnigman

    Turrets are a waste of camp budget other than for decorating or for a theme. Enemy spawns will attack your camp approximately once an hour unless you are close to an enemy spawn site where they get aggro'd by your camp or players spawning in.
    High value items (resource collectors, crops, vending machines etc.) will get targeted first. I had one camp in a pre-war house not far from Charleston fire department but some of my resources were towards the back above a spawn site (I didn't know at the time.) I would come back to crops destroyed or cement truck destroyed - more noticeable if a lot of people came to my camp to buy from the vendor. Turrets only fire when a player is present so you can't rely on them to defend your camp while you are away.
    If I do use turrets I use cryo-turrets on a 'tower of death' (stacked stairs) in a blueprint I put when farming workshops in private that I plan on defending. I'll set up a resource collection box with all the different collectors (Santatron for when holiday scorched was on) and if I plan on farming plans to sell cheap to newbies then I'll put my turret tower up to help mop up enemies more quickly. Usually I don't bother defending/recapturing and I just hop from workshop to workshop collecting all the resources my collectors have pulled in the resource box as I don't bother setting up collectors for the resources at a workshop unless I plan on farming the plans.
    Since they have a similar camp budget 'size' as turrets, crops are also a potential waste of budget - useful at lower levels for making adhesive but not so much at higher levels unless for a camp theme/decoration. I have turbo-fert I'll periodically collect from and maybe one or two gourds (if that.) Crops I'll pick up from farms, in the wild or other players camps - which is where I lob the turbo-fert grenades to 'replace' what I take.

    Each turret depending on the type of turret ranges from 10 flamingos for a basic turret to 15 flamingos for the rocket turret so you save between 100 to 150 budget depending on what you use, though if you are going to use turrets definitely make sure to use the enclave skin for turrets as they do deal double damage whilst i dont know if it still works but the laser turrets were doing roughly 50x the damage a little while back but i think thst might have been during the energy apocalypse situation 😂

    I have two turrets at the front of my settlement because that's where the random attacks always come from and they work fine but sometimes they can't hit anything directly in front of them. On the rare occasion one or two will spawn inside my home and sometimes a scorched from nearby Portside Pub will fire on my home but it's easily dealt with.

    Another issue with turrets to consider is that occasionally they will despawn or go 'invisible' according to Bethesda's "customer support". Three turrets at my new camp in Skyline Valley just disappeared but I was still credited as having them. I contacted customer support and they stated they're aware of the issue and told me to move my camp somewhere else and try again.

    • @AlainSiscan
      @AlainSiscan 2 месяца назад

      This issue has been around for at least 2 years. I remember my utter frustration with my first camp how turrets would just disappear but still count in the camp budget. They just seem to 'sink' into your camp build. They would reappear if you repaired your camp or moved and be gone again soon after.

    My camp is just outside a mine in the far southern border of Appalachia. I get attacked by cave crickets routinely so I need turrets in which case I use the second level machine gun turrets. You must be a lucky dude. My camp gets constantly attacked no matter where I put it. I swear to God, I even tried putting it on the edge of the map in some barren location (7 different locations) with nothing around for miles. And when I Spawn in, there are either molerats or wolves or mutts attacking my camp. I've tried EVERYwhere, always with the same result. It's incredibly annoying. The only place that it rarely happened was near Vault 76, but then I often have to relog due to some other player blocking my camp from spawning, which is annoying as well.

    3 farming CAMPSs. Ghouls, scorched, mutants. Players visiting my vendor respawn ghouls, mutants so plenty of farming materials. Max number of heavy laser turrets set up on steel boxes or behind boxes so mainly steel boxes need repair. Fun to run around and attract enemies to CAMP and adjust turrets for max effect. Use at some events also.

    Annoying thing about turrets is they can't seem to 'function' most of the time without you standing nearby. Or how mobs can take pock shots at them from an ungodly distance away... too far for the turrets to return fire.

    Honestly, if we're locked to only 10 turrets at maximum I don't understand why they're so costly on the budget. If they're costly from a performance perspective, then they should just lower the max amount you can have. I can't imagine needing 10 turrets to defend a base.
    Then again, my base that gets attacked most often is right outside of the NAR repair yard to the SouthWest of Watoga, and that place spawns high level enemies very often, so they often wreck my turrets before the turrets do much of anything to them.

Like I have some turrets in the cranberry bog and they will litterally bait Legendary Scorchbeasts into attacking my camp from like a kilometer away... My main camp has no turrets and I get like two or three scorched every couple of days, usually they only destroy like my chicken coop or one of my structures, and it's only because ppl aggro them, drag them nearby and don't bother killing thme when the check vendors...
