Depends on the Character my poor institute coward lives in it's armor while my main just loves to yield a power fist. And Hank the Tank my Railroad agent looks always bully s a suit of Hellfire despite wearing normal armor.
Agreed, I'm personally doing a playthrough with powerarmor banned and it's actually been a lot of fun, without having thousands of damage resistance you need to fight a little more carefully, you can't fly anywhere and stealth boys are a resource, it's also cheaper considering clothes and armor don't break, and the shirt on my back doesn't use fusion cores (but once your out of the early game that doesn't matter anyways)
Usually depends on my character. Sometimes, I have a character who in my canon, is glued to their armour. What is a knight without their armour? But when I play as a character who more reflects me, and my go to play style, I usually reserve power armour as a last resort or upgrade as well. Like when the BoS attacked the Castle, I fought off a few waves alongside Minutemen (modded with more tactical gear and guns lmao) and then retreated into the armoury to use my T-49.
I don't blame you, power armor is fine, but there comes a point where it’s simply too OP in terms of its availability. Sure, it serves its purpose of turning you into a tank, but the lack of enemies with advanced power armor (raiders end up being a joke), the ease of obtaining fusion cores even at the beginning, and finding loads of power armor scattered around the map make it lose its value. In the end, it feels more like a nuisance and even a "cheat" because of how ridiculously easy it is to make yourself almost immortal.
Fun fact, there are technically two more ranks of BOS power armor you can get besides the main three designs. Knight Sergent Gavil and Elder Maxson both have unique armor ranks on their power armor, meaning if you kill them you can loot those pieces giving you the elder rank mark and the Knight sergeant rank mark.
Fun fact about the Raider Power Armor's Thermal Protection mod for the legs: it literally only makes you immune to that specific pool of molten slag to grab the incinerator. Go and test some of the other pools around the factory, but you should probably quicksave first.
The X-02 and Hellfire X-03 definitely needed to be rare or appear way later in level. The Enclave Remnants Quest and its linked stuff should have appeared around Level 25, with the X-02 and X-03 armor only fully appearing on the soldiers until Level 30. It wouldn’t cheapen the blow of finding much better Power Armor.
I was trying to going to Dunwich Borers to clear it out for a quest, found an enclave outpost. Ran away, fast traveled to Santuary to sleep and get gear. When I woke up, the troopers were right there in the middle of sanctuary and all my settlers and trashcan Carla killed them. I just had to shoot the Hellfire trooper in his fusion core to get him out. Then I had literally the best version of Hellfire in the game, as far as I'm aware. Mark 6. 20 hours later, when I found X 01 in the Fort Hagen Satellite Array, I was disappointed to find out it wouldnt even be as good as my Hellfire until I upgraded it to Mark V.
Also weren’t the XO-2 and 3 weaker than regular armor since it’s basically paper in fallout 3 (I know they tuned down the enclave to ensure any person rushing the story can still take them on in early levels but seriously their armor is a joke)
I didn't know what the reward for the Black Devil quest was, so got it at level 40 or so. Very fun, since that was right around the time I felt my power level was falling behind, since I was investing in a bunch of different perk trees.
I actually really dig that design flaw the show added. It's so fallout how they never bothered to fix it even though they knew about it. It also shows that Cooper called maximus' bluff and was just toying with him.
It might actually be that the suit Maximus had didn’t have the flaw, or rather had it fixed accidentally. On the vertibird in episode 2, Maximus questioned Titus about the tempered lining on the chest plate of his t-60. That might actually be what saved him lol.
@@LeoPirSal It's that, and what people seem to overlook (or ignore so they can cry) is that the Ghoul still basically used a shotgun slug sized armor penetrating round. So it's not like this flaw is a easy to exploit "insta kill button", you still need the appropriate Ammo for it on top of very specialized knowledge, making the chance to kill a PA wearer with a lucky shot a solid zero.
@@starhammer5247 You are correct, the T-51 is better then T-45 and 60. The T-51 is what you get when you finish the testing stage and get combat ready PA. Honestly I love how T-45 was a stop gap armor until the T-51 was able to be completed.
I've obtained my X-02 differently. Left Finch farm, was probably doing the quest to find Paladin Brandis, when I was attacked by a group of Enclave soldiers and their captain was wearing an Enclave X-02 and had a note on him that started a quest. Just looted the pieces off him and put it on a random power armour frame I found earlier. Only had much worse power armour before this on this character.
Fallout 4 really made Power Armour the most fun part of the games for me, being able to literally climb into a suit of armour is so cool. That being said I love the T-60 the most with the Sentinel paint job. Ad Victoriam!
That is something I liked. Power Armor is described as turning infantry into walking tanks, and they essentially turned it into a vehicle. You can feel why it turned things around in the Great War.
I got a wounding plasma rifle on my playthru and then proceeded to find an explosive submachine. Basically a dupe of spray n pray if I wanted one for companion too. I like the wounding auto plasma has great range. Even if plasma is slow.
@CyberController- i had a plasma infused 44 on a pistol playthru. Was neat because would still gooify enemies at random. Most things were 1 shot with anyway.
@@KayJay940I have a wounding plasma rifle too that I use the flamer version of and it shreds. Only problem is it also shreds ammo, so I use a mob that allows me to craft ammo
Personally I'm a fan of t45 head t51 arms and legs with x01 chest. The t45/51 pieces are there partly because of appearance preference, but mostly because they only take steel to repair. X01 brings the big defense boost and just looks good.
Not gonna lie, my favorite power armor actually became the T45 because of its ease of repair. If I ever have to repair limbs, then all I would ever need is a little bit of steel and maybe some circuitry (I’ve never had the chest piece break under combat). It may not be the best power armor but as a level 169, I say that more than acceptable for my work. The X01 is my second favorite just for its cosmetic design as well as the T51. I never did like the T60 because I personally found it to be a uncreative addition, it was clearly added as a way to give the player a shiny toy to go after and I honestly can’t help but think of Buzz Lightyea- I mean Paladin Dance when I see this overly chunky and bubbly suit. The Enclaves X02 series of suits (including the HellFire) is cool but I don’t wear it because of its stereotypical bad guy design and it honestly just never looked great, it was clearly meant to be worn by a edgy villain and that simply isn’t compatible with my character, but the design is very sleek and it matches Enclave perfectly for who they are as they’re clearly more mysterious and evil than even the Institute.
Even though Fallout 3's cover features the T-45, the T-51s were the best armours in that game. Both the B model and the Winterised version. So T-51 is still the most iconic imo
The T-51 was more of an Easter egg in Fallout 3, so it reasonably makes sense to be as powerful as it is, and it's always nice to have an alternative to cool, but limited T-45 and the laughably edgy Enclave designs.
Out of everything I think the Enclave Quest from the Creation Club, I think the Enclave is most likely to be Canon, as in the Show, the BoS Elder Cleric Quintus said that their mission to find the Enclave Scientist defector was given to them from “the Highest Clerics in the Commonwealth” now how would the BoS in the Commonwealth find any new information on the Enclave in the Commonwealth? I think the Enclave Remnants CC Content was made to answer that. Presumably after destroying the Institute, the Eastern BoS discovered the Enclave Remnant Outposts and Bases and managed to find up to date information on their latest projects and personnel of interest.
@@zhx6219 X-01 is only a prototype after all. The Advanced Power Armor (Fallout 2 and New Vegas) and the Hellfire Armour are the pinnacle of Power Armour design. Or at least should be.
Actually the best power armor (by the numbers) is a Chimera - Hellfire head, legs and torso with X-02 arms. Unless you want to use the devil's inferno mod in which case you would substitute the x-02 torso.
I like the T-51 the most, design-wise. Reminds me of the Cylon Centurion from the 1978 Battlestar Galactica series. That being said, the T-45 also looks great and it's by far the least bulky option which makes it feel a bit more realistic. I have no idea where my character's arms and legs are supposed to go inside of that huge Hellfire armor. I really don't like anything about the X-02s appearance and given that it's only marginally better than the X-01 I'll probably consider the X-01 to be my "endgame" set. It would be neat if the Hellfire, X-01 and X-02 sets were more specialized, allowing the T-60 to be the best overall set as far as raw protection is concerned.
I’ve always seen the X-01 helmet as insectoid. But you said bird. And then one of my friends said it looked like a frog when I asked him. Now I don’t know what to think.
The first Fallout I played was Fallout 2, which is why I think of X-01(or Advanced Power Armor) as my iconic one. It looked really cool back then... way more intimidating than anything else available. Running into a random encounter squad wearing those in the wastes was a death sentence.
Being that you can purchase the frame from several different vendors for around 2400 I believe it was and then just add the pieces until you have an entire set basically makes it to where you have an infinite number of power armors available at any given time. Rowdy at the Atom Cats garage sells individual pieces and while they may not all match the same model but you can still build a suit right there
I was 17 or 18 when Fallout 3 arrived, watching that intro and the t45 showing up really made me feel like “im screwed”! Before it even began. Its a strange but very joyfull moment when a game comes out and you play it for the first time, even more so when it was launched back in 2007 or 2008. Same happened with Shenmue when i first bought the Dreamcast in 2000. Those were the times of gaming era!
I don't usually wear power armor... but when I do I wear the Nuka World Quantum X-01 and put Cait in the X-02 with a hotrod color scheme. I also tend to use Old Faithful, The Problem Solver, or a Gatling Laser and have Cait wielding a Tri-Barrel Minigun. I actually like looking at the X-02 more than I do using it. The eyes look menacing... and those tesla coils... brah! Super badass.
T51 is the best set for Survival unless you set up a settlement network. The ease of upkeep out in the wilds in relationship to the protection it provides is amazing until you are above level 50 or so.
Bro where did you get all those power armor? Is this a mod or you just finded and painted them all in the commonwealth, pls answer i want a collection like this so bad
I got the enclave X02 power amour at around level 20, when I did the kill pyro quest. Now i feel like I can do literally anything compared to the t51 amour I had before.
Really?!! I’m pretty new to the the fallout lore and games I’ve seen 2 & 3 played through on RUclips and watched my roommate play 4 when it released. Just actually started playing myself 2 months ago (Fallout 4) and I’ve been hearing on RUclips video after video after video that X-01 usually won’t spawn until level 28+. I just hit 27 yesterday and have YET to find a X-01….. so all I have to do it that msision to get a guaranteed one??!!!!
Explosive shielding is the best paint for power armor. It reduced explosion damage which does massive burst damage. Now you don’t need to worry about fatman wielding raiders and gunners.
HOLD ON so this means I already have the enclave X.02 on EARLY GAME??? I got ambushed by the enclave near sanctuary and absolutely crushed a guy with a full set of it
The power armor I envision first (question at 12:40) is always the T-51B. It's on the cover of Fallout 1, it's the armor you wear for the first 2 games. The T-45D was created by Bethesda for Fallout 3 where they kept the T-51B (and gave it it's name/model number) as a unique suit of which you only ever find 1 (discounting Anchorage DLC). The next coolest is the OG Enclave armor, not the weaker ceramic version from Fallout 3, but the one that Fallout 4 brought back.
My question is: was there ACTUALLY a welding error in the power armor or was emphasis put on that bullet because it was armor piercing and he just wanted to seem like a bad ass. Like notice how the first bullet pings off as youd expect it to but the second (presumably the bullet that was zoomed in on) goes through.
I'll need more time to play all the games and get saves/a deep understanding/footage but my hope at some point is to make fallout videos covering topics that span mutiple games in the series.
I enjoy taking a random power armor frame straight to Nuka world and just clipping into the display to get the quantum X0-1 early because it's my favorite set
New Vegas had way better weapons in my opinion than 4 and without a doubt my all time favorite gun was "This Machine" which as we all know is the classic rifle M1 Garand. I absolutely love taking This Machine into Dead Wind Caverns and cleaning out the deathclaw population that lives there... The only drawback of This Machine was that it didnt have a scope and you had to look down iron sights but still the best weapon in the game in my opinion.. New Vegas had so many amazing weapons like the Ballistic Fist, Grenade Machinegun, La Longues Carabine (im sure I misspelled that one), Gobi Campaign Sniper Rifle, This Machine, That Gun etc... the list is so long. New Vegas was and still to this day in my opinion the best Fallout ever made and imagine how great it would have been if Obsidian had some real money behind them at the time of making the game how amazing it would have been
Interestingly, the X-01 we see in Fallout 4 is not the Mark 2 Advanced Power Armor used by the Western Enclave. The Enclave actually designed the Mark 2 Advanced Power Armor based off of the X-01 (that is, the new lore given to us in light of Fallout 4's release in 2015). Meaning the "X-02" Black Devil suit is really, the X-03, or, Mark 3, and the X-01 could be referred to as the Mark 1 (but Mark is used to denote something that actually saw operation).
Nothing, and I mean nothing, will compare to a Legacy Shiskabab with explosive legendary perk and samurai power armor in Fallout 76. peak gameplay. OMG I didn’t even realize it was you SAM! Haven’t played CP 2077 in a minute!
I love my Liberty power armor (from the mod of the same name), especially with the Institute paint and ultraviolet headlamp. It's like walking around in my own mini Liberty Prime! 😂
In my first play through. I’m currently using the x-01 helmet and torso I found in the wild and the BOS limbs I got for joining. I have the strength boosting military paint on the suit
Ome thing i dont get is how people have difficulties obtaining these power armour. When i get ambushed early on in the game by Enclave and track them down, one of their soldier was wearing Hellfire Mk.6, the final upgrades iteration. And then i attacked their base in the glowing seas, killed all their power armour user, and multiple of them has the X02 Mk4 armor, i just salvaged the parts and put it on my existing frame. And since i killed them eith flamethrower, effectively cooking the man inside, the armor piece were large undamaged. So i essentially gained access to the X02 armor very early on in the game.
Starlight drive in. I figured it was relatively flat, easy to set up and long enough. Nuka world red rocket might have been a better choice having now looked at all the settlements but this did the job
I find that T-51 onwards the armour is so good that even though stats wise there are actual best armours they’re all so good that it’s rare that you’re ever going to run into anything that you can’t handle
I’d personally recommend the overboss PA for anyone wanting to tryout a melee build in survival mode. That regenarative beast can be brought back to full health with some desk fans. Even though it is not as durable as some other PAs, it can surely take a great hit before getting back online the moment you spot a wild station while travelling.
Honestly, I really like how different the Overboss armor is. It's cheap to fix, and pretty easy to upgrade. I slapped Cait in it because the T60 I had her in broke and I wanted to keep exploring Nuka-World, and was pleasantly surprised with how she managed. Plus, it fits her as a cage fighter!
Right after getting the hellfire set from the new update, I got ambushed by the enclave soldier with MK VI hellfire armor. Its been carrying me super hard, but its expensive as shit to repair and doesnt feel very durable
Do different types of power armor drain fusion cores at different rates? In my playthroughs i usually use the t-45 and t-60 power armor until later in the game when i find an enclave soldier with hellfire, and it almost seems like the hellfire armor eats fusion cores faster than the t series armors.
The bad welding on the T-45 and T-60 seems to only be a problem if the enemy’s using specialised penetrator rounds (the bullet’s the Ghoul’s looking at as he’s talking about the bad welding looks very different to the bullets he was using in Fily, presumably nobody in the Commonwealth has such rounds).
Hey guys, I want to replay FO4 but for some reason the FPS physics fix mod isn't working and I've tried seemingly every other solution and yet the lip sync is always out of whack and cars fly off into the sunset on a regular basis. That is when the game doesn't crash under its own weight.
Is there a way to change almost empty fusion core without need to get out from pa? I play mostly without pa, but when iam using i can see that it took at least 2 fusion cores per event with all per cards on. I have fusion recharger of course and houndreds of fusion cores, but still looking if exchange of cores can be done without leaving your pa?
So basically the more advanced PA is the more it costs to repair. Like a T-45 will only cost about 20 steel at one circuitry to repair while other armors may also ask for ceramic, copper, and other components on top of the regular steel.
You can get the X-01 even before setting foot into the park itself. After defeating Colter, leave the park and head west. There is a junkyard of old amusement park rides. In the main building there is a Star Core (up the stairs, in the loft, near the Alien animatronic that shoots at you.) The loot resets every in-game day or two, so you can repeatedly fast travel back to the Commonwealth, nap, then head back to the junkyard to pick up another Star Core. Lather, rinse, repeat.

Red makes it go faster.

Fun fact about the Raider Power Armor's Thermal Protection mod for the legs: it literally only makes you immune to that specific pool of molten slag to grab the incinerator. Go and test some of the other pools around the factory, but you should probably quicksave first.

And it seems like you could've reached that without walking in the lava. One of those grabby sticks or a cane
Tested and I survived? They all don't hurt
The Hellfire isn't the 03. It's creation was in parallel to the 01. It'd be more accurate to call it the X-01.5.
@@mimictear6788 dang it, when is bethesda gonna get their Advanced Power Armor straight and just bring back APA Mark 2?
The Real version.
@@LeoPirSal
It's that, and what people seem to overlook (or ignore so they can cry) is that the Ghoul still basically used a shotgun slug sized armor penetrating round.
So it's not like this flaw is a easy to exploit "insta kill button", you still need the appropriate Ammo for it on top of very specialized knowledge, making the chance to kill a PA wearer with a lucky shot a solid zero.
It was likely only present in the T-60 and T-45, seeing as one is essentially just an upgraded version of the other. I doubt the T-51 has that issue.
All great points. Thanks for contributing.

Thank you mate. Glad that you're enjoying the game!
Great vid Sam. I'm glad you went into a good amount of detail on how the suits differ mechanically and in lore! Very comprehensive!
A detailed and very interesting vid Sam. I learned a lot about power armour.
Even though Fallout 3's cover features the T-45, the T-51s were the best armours in that game. Both the B model and the Winterised version. So T-51 is still the most iconic imo
The T-51 was more of an Easter egg in Fallout 3, so it reasonably makes sense to be as powerful as it is, and it's always nice to have an alternative to cool, but limited T-45 and the laughably edgy Enclave designs.
t45 is one of the best armors for survival mode gameplay because on most of upgraded versions it need only steel to repair.
X01 is the greatest. God bless the Enclave, God bless America

Take a like and my love for that OG Battlestar Galactica reference. God, i loved watching that show as a kid.

Being that you can purchase the frame from several different vendors for around 2400 I believe it was and then just add the pieces until you have an entire set basically makes it to where you have an infinite number of power armors available at any given time.

True, the increase in repair cost for the T60 is substantial

I love this channel in part because it seems like I'm playing the same games at the same time.
I fully upgraded T45 and use that. Fallout 3 was my first Fallout game and it's grown on me
The power armor I envision first (question at 12:40) is always the T-51B.
So i put only 1 into luck, but apparently real life luck overrides the luck stat because i found 4 POWER ARMOR CORES IN SOME RANDOM BOX

My question is: was there ACTUALLY a welding error in the power armor or was emphasis put on that bullet because it was armor piercing and he just wanted to seem like a bad ass. Sorry to disappoint man
New Vegas had way better weapons in my opinion than 4 and without a doubt my all time favorite gun was "This Machine" which as we all know is the classic rifle M1 Garand.
New Vegas was and still to this day in my opinion the best Fallout ever made and imagine how great it would have been if Obsidian had some real money behind them at the time of making the game how amazing it would have been
Great video, man
Interestingly, the X-01 we see in Fallout 4 is not the Mark 2 Advanced Power Armor used by the Western Enclave.

Hello, I noticed your power armors had huge quality, Im wondering if you are using the FO4FI PA series?
Full X-01 but with a T-51 helm, I like feeling sleek.
I find that T-51 onwards the armour is so good that even though stats wise there are actual best armours they’re all so good that it’s rare that you’re ever going to run into anything that you can’t handle
Do you have your mod list video? Really interested in that bright and realistic image in-game.
I know it's a stupid question but do I need to do something to get the enclave quests or do they come with the base game now?
i love raider power armor i just wish it had more upgrades making it more like a pipe gun for power armor that sucks but is cheap and customizable
12:36 my favorite is the T60 My first game was fallout four and you get it from the brotherhood of steel around mid game
What gun are you using it kills fast and looks cool and I want to use it since I’m doing new game plus
Great video! It's also worth noting the devil's inferno upgrade can be obtained for free in the lair with the Black Devil X-02

You have to stick with that way I would just say your best bet is to just to not take any power armor that drain fusion Corea quickly
So basically the more advanced PA is the more it costs to repair. Like a T-45 will only cost about 20 steel at one circuitry to repair while other armors may also ask for ceramic, copper, and other components on top of the regular steel.
Just a question, is the xo2 power armour a mod or the base game + dlc
You can get the X-01 even before setting foot into the park itself. After defeating Colter, leave the park and head west. There is a junkyard of old amusement park rides.
In the main building there is a Star Core (up the stairs, in the loft, near the Alien animatronic that shoots at you.)
The loot resets every in-game day or two, so you can repeatedly fast travel back to the Commonwealth, nap, then head back to the junkyard to pick up another Star Core. Lather, rinse, repeat.
are you using graphics mods?
Could you tell me which ones?
T45 all the way. Why? Cause i get it straight on the beginning when i need it the most.
Agreed, I stuck with mine my entire playthrough. Cheap repairs also helped though lol.
