The real hero here is the guy who made that pizza.... Or the city would've been destroyed Still i miss the Old Death i still believe he still isn't dead you can't kill Death i wish he might be the way to fight off God
One possible way, Billie is just promoted to Death of this little galaxy. Old Death is free to go on being the Death of the entire multi-Universe. Not until Death of the Discworld, Billie is just a reflection of Death. Independent for sure, but still a reflection.
The old death was terrifying, identity you wanted to tiptoe around and show respect. The new death, well is almost friend like. You know she has the same abilities but she doesn't come over as terrifying as the old death.
Agreed. It has very much to do with the aesthetics of the character you're trying to portray. Billie doesn't do a very good job at the job in my opinion and her mannerisms are much worse than the Original.
This is what you get when casting and writing choices are made based on "affirmative action" or other SJW ideals instead of talent or suitability for a job or role. I mean I guess you live under a rock to have not seen this SAME thing happening all over entertainment...
Old Death was the old CEO who worked hard and demanded respect from everybody. Billie is the regular employee who got promoted. You can't expect the same results from two different type of characters. I have no problem with her.
idk billies pretty cold and caculating which is kind of scary too while keeping a friendly face isnt that a little bit worse? not being able to read someone right away that could instantly take your soul
I loved when Death was walking and that guy bumped into him. Death just stopped, wiped off his shoulder where the guy bumped him, glanced back at him, and then the guys dies right there on the sidewalk. Priceless.
The one entity in all of Supernatural lore that Dean is legitimately terrified of. You can see it in every interaction they have just how... see, I have to say terrified again because other synonyms like scared or afraid just aren't powerful enough; terrified Dean is. Even in later interactions when it's clear Death has some strange affection for Dean, or at least tolerance. Personally I choose to believe the OG Death is pulling a 'God' and letting Billie run the show whilst he takes a holiday. Dealing with the Winchesters must be exhausting.
He was so terrified of him that he went back on his initial plan of double crossing Death after he got his ring. Initially Dean was going to stop Sam from saying yes to Lucifer and jumping into the cage after getting Death's ring. Bobby even made a comment about the consequences of lying to Death when he saw Dean playing with the Horsemen's rings. I'd like to think that Dean truly believed in Sam and let him be his own man & make his own decision to say yes and jump in the cage. But part of me thinks that part of his decision to let Sam say yes is because he was so terrified of Death that he was even willing to lose his brother over pissing off Death.
Billie death almost seems like a friend right, the old death you really wanted to tiptoe around because she was afraid it was going to kill you in a split second.
@@davidcunningham00 honestly thats what makes billie lame, the old death clearly made you feel like he was in power, even when Dean is already controlling him he couldn't talk to death in a disrespectful way. And the fact that the old Death doesn't care much about Dean, Lucifer, Castiel, or the entire planet, makes it clear how old and powerful he actually is; Everyone and Everything is insignificant in comparison to him. while there's billie... she's alright, but not as cool as old death.
@@I-C-N-H I think the biggest difference between old death and Billie is age. It's clear that Old Death had seen more than any entity and probably knew more. His "life is insignificant" attitude got him killed when he let a significant entity make him afraid. Billy is young enough to feel like a politician in a way, she's like a mother in the sense that if she told you it was your time you'd be happy to go with her. Old Death probably just forced every soul to follow him
At 1:34 when he lighting strikes and Death's face lights up, I legit thought I saw skeleton. Like Grimm Reaper skeleton. The OG Death had the attitude that fit right with his character. Even how he says 'To a thing like me, a thing like you...', there was some pride and ego in it and yet charming.
I love how above board Death is compared to the other horsemen. I can't imagine a better or different version of death in any format after seeing Julian.
zack stoner reapers have died many times in the show and death was a horsemen which all the horsemen can and have died. Billie already explained that when she died that by some universal rule that since death was gone the next reaper to die became death, so Billie is death. The OG death can’t come back
I also notice how Death is able to understand different slang while also being very old. Like when Dean said "above my pay grade." Death seems able to speak and understand anyone from anywhere. I also love Death's love for pizza and food. Something everyone can deeply relate with.
There are no words to explain how original death is so terrifying and great his attitude , the way he talks it's like he is so real I just love him big fan I just wished he lasts forever in this show I like Billy but she is nothing compared to him
Death is that one immutable force that no living thing can resist. The great, the small, the rich, the poor, the strong, the weak...Death comes for us all, and there is nothing we can do to slow it or stop it. Bravado or not, pride or not, no human is truly unafraid of Death. Julian Richings was truly master class as Death. He was the consummate portrayal of the mightiest of the Four Horseman, and will always be the only Death in my mind in the Supernatural setting.
I just can't imagine anyone preferring Billie. Original Death will always be my favorite Supernatural character. Remember his first scene when he drove up and got out of his car? Love it.
Original Death is one of the most amazing introductions, I never tire of watching him, powerful performance by Julian Richings he was born for the role of Death
Billie is a temp. Julian Richings plays the best version of Death on-screen ever. Calm, articulate, cold, intelligent, Deity-level aloofness with a sprinkling of fun in his love for good food.
I was talking to my friend about it and I feel like the problem (a big one anyway) with Billie being death. Is that knowing her name takes away a lot of her power/mystique. The original Death was never given a name, he was just Death with a capital D. If he appeared into a room everyone had to go "Oh shit it's Death" However now when death shows up in the room everyone goes "Oh it's Billie". Just doesn't work as well.
I give The actress playing Billie credit, she does play her role really well. And I don't entirely mind their way of saying there always needs to be an aspect of death. I'm interested in her pure attitude towards upholding cosmic balance. But I also agree the original death was a very fantastic character and a hard act to beat. I guess that's why they're trying to go for a different approach. Which I can respect.
Yeah, the newer, more approachable, death really felt like a cosmic librarian/admin rather than a cosmic force. It diminished the Mantle but I guess it was kinda needed to make it easier to write plots.
Biggest difference between Death and billie Billie cares, she is a player in the game of life. Death, did not. He was Death! Barely saw any creation as more than a bacterium. Billie treats Dean as her equal, Death treated him like a nuisance and it terrified him
Totally agree.. it's like the difference between a terrifying lord/wizard sending in an army and one of the soldiers from the front lines stepping up to become the general.
"*SUCH BS*" hahahahaha that cracked me up so much! Agreed. They should have just had the original come right back like a bad case of herpes and say something witty and chilling like, "Hello again, Dean. Did you miss me?" "But... I killed you!" "Ah, yes, let's waste however much time you like contemplating the ridiculousness of killing death. Go on, whenever you're ready. I've got all the time in the universe." Really, the very idea of an entity so old that it might just predate the Creator, being killed by a pesky little human...
ikr, though I think Old Death exaggerated that he was older than god/chuck cause he doesn't "remember" but I mean Amara didn't recognize him at all or knew who he was.
Or just tell em " you only cheated death and u can't escape from death forever" and laugh " besides than were other who beat death as well but i still caught up with them too hahahaha"
I'm sorry but Dean is no way in hell a pesky little human lol. Put some respect on his name. He's pretty much the second most dangerous being in the show considering he's killed/defeated just about everyone.
I see each version as the one needed for that particular time. The first death was more, the I'm here and i'm to be feared. He was unapproachable, you could literally feel the power. Billie on the other hand is more approachable, more understanding of the Winchesters roles. She also knows without her help, everything will be gone. But here is the difference, Billie was human once. Lived and died, eventually became a reaper, then death. So it's her humanity, that i think people do not like. Personality, both are good to great (first death is always great), but each one is what is needed, for it's time and place in the story
Watching that scene where Dean "Kills" Death is just hilarious, I mean I find the idea that you can even kill Death itself to be idiotic, Death is a force in the universe just like Life, both bring balance and I feel the only way to truly "kill" Death would be the most impossible task to do, as to literally snuff out every speck of life in the known universe along with all the others out there till there is nothing left, then there would be no need for Death to be. But I guess for stupidly written plot reasons, Dean stabs Death and destroys his physical form, but there is no way I believe Dean actually killed Death
og death had A LOT of personality too, I mean Dean even figured out how to win him over, ethnic food, which makes sense. when you eat food you are essentially eating death as what you are eating is no longer alive, so death might have an interest in how he tastes in different cultures.
I love how both DEATh and Lucifer have this great sense of clairvoyance: "You're going to let your brother jump into that fiery pit." -- That, right there, after having seen the rest of the series, past the *first* apocalypse arch, show that they know how things are going to play out, though there's always that chance that the threads of fate aren't quite set in stone.
@@paulmccloud9395 Why all these questions lol Nothing is clear in this show, but God is multiversal while there is a Death in every universe. Death has many weaknesses that God does not have. Amara does not know Death, so it's means that her and God are older than Death. He can reap him? sure. But reaping is not the same as killing, reaping is just essentially "confirming" a death in supernatural. God>Billie. Come on...
"Regardless at the end I'll reap him to" said in almost sad respect of a task he is destined to do with not even a touch of arrogance over the true power he wields... The Best Death
There's my man the original death! Please comeback! Thank you so much for uploading this video. Original death was the best, he's the only one I'll acknowledge as death.
Actually, it's consistent with the Incarnations of Immortality rules.. except that for death, the next 'death' has to kill the previous one. And over time, they 'become' the role, more and more. I think it's a Piers Anthony series. Might be covered in On a Pale Horse (first book in series). The horsemen are only incarnations.. temporary holders of the position.. the position is the office.
You can tell dean doesn't respect Billie as much as the OG Death. Maybe its cause he went through a lot more shit since he met the OG, and killed him. But I still think its interesting.
"Now would you like an instruction manual" just a second ago he was being serious and scary then he being funny. Damn it I love the original death so much.
You can tell ( and ive always admired this even the first time watching this episode ) that Dean is being very careful with what he says. Just showing how much Death truly scared him. Spot on acting from Jensen.
Probably because she's in place of the old Death, everyone wants the old Death instead of her it's probably like "How dare you stand where he stood" kinda thing
If you think about it they both represent the two sides of death. OG death was scary and unemotional. Billy is softer and emotional. Much like how some fear death, while others welcome it.
There was a series of books called the Incarnations of Immortality. I believe they were written by Piers Anthony. In them, things like Death, War, Time etc were replaced by the human that killed them. It was a great series of books (8 in all I believe), and the one about Death was called On a Pale Horse. If you can find them, might be worth it.
I really don't like Billie, but the original Death was one of my favorite characters from the show. EDIT: Watching this just...man. I had forgotten just how bad Billie is as Death. The decision to kill the original Death to spark the Darkness arc was the worst.
Yeah the original had this aura like he had to be careful not to kill everything by accident. You really didn't want to make that dude even notice you.
2 Things: First, Billie needs about double the time to introduce herself as Death, than Death did with a considerably worse outcome. She's really kinda meh. Second, I do love how Deans interactions with her kinda mirror most of the Fanbase. Death was the only non-allied Supernatural being he truly respected, feared even. He tried to be polite and/or apologetic, depending on the situation, up to the moment he killed Death. He's not like that toward Billie even though she has the same powers and is just as dangerous. He's just as rough talking with her, as he is to every other high powered being thinking too highly of itself and one of the first things he does is try setting up a bargain under his own conditions. Really shows that he didn't respect Death, because Death could have reaped him without lifting a finger, but because Death was just really, really cool.
I was actually hoping that original death wasn't even effected by the attack and just used it so Winchesters would stop bothering him :P And maybe later we'd see original death again.
Chuck even said he liked first death better. I hope they bring him back he was scary and snarky and it worked. Billie is like a big sister telling her little brother what to do while their parents are away
Anyway, Death clearly is not older than God. Amara does not know him and the Empty said that before Amara and God there was nothing. So, Death is younger. Also, Death is not multiversal like God. Every universe has a Death.
Yeah, there is a Death in every universe made by Chuck. And Chuck is able to end those universes whenever he wants. Including Death? So i guess that he can literally spawn Deaths. While him and Amara are singular entities.
God and Amara can die. Meaning, Death can reap them. Would be funny, that the OG Death is just a personification of the Empty. And Billie is just promoted by Chuck to fill the gap before Empty/Death re-apears/awakens (he is basically awake due to Jack but you got what I mean. Jack must be as irritating as Cass was)
Glad to see I'm not the only one who didn't like billies version of death. The original death was so Badass in every way. Every time he spoke I was all ears.

And then he dies... I'm still waiting him to come back, best character ever
I want to see the original Death meet Tom Ellis' Lucifer. That would be fascinating.
To be fair Luci would not survive that encounter, Death hates any form of Lucifer

One possible way, Billie is just promoted to Death of this little galaxy. Old Death is free to go on being the Death of the entire multi-Universe.
Not until Death of the Discworld, Billie is just a reflection of Death. Independent for sure, but still a reflection.
He is dead, deaths scythe is powerful that can kill anyone.. Even if its only a scratch its like a poison.
@@PinoyDDTank someone finished the series hahaha
It’s funny Sam and dean are actually scared of original death, but Billie? Yeah they don’t fear her in the slightest.
Old death was old ass fuck and demanded that respect billie is like u said more there friend age wise so
This is what you get when casting and writing choices are made based on "affirmative action" or other SJW ideals instead of talent or suitability for a job or role.
Everything has to die eventually even Death, but death can only truly die when there’s no life left to die.
I loved when Death was walking and that guy bumped into him. Death just stopped, wiped off his shoulder where the guy bumped him, glanced back at him, and then the guys dies right there on the sidewalk. Priceless.
SH!T YEAH. Best character intro ever. ooooh death.... "Watch it buddy!"
Original Death should still be around they could have made it way better
I cant stand billie as death
Billie death almost seems like a friend right, the old death you really wanted to tiptoe around because she was afraid it was going to kill you in a split second.
@Ivy McClelland they might not be able to because the actor might be dead
@Ivy McClelland never mind he still kicking
@@davidcunningham00 honestly thats what makes billie lame, the old death clearly made you feel like he was in power, even when Dean is already controlling him he couldn't talk to death in a disrespectful way. And the fact that the old Death doesn't care much about Dean, Lucifer, Castiel, or the entire planet, makes it clear how old and powerful he actually is; Everyone and Everything is insignificant in comparison to him.
while there's billie... she's alright, but not as cool as old death.
@@I-C-N-H
I think the biggest difference between old death and Billie is age. Old Death probably just forced every soul to follow him
jeez, watching the two deaths side by side, why would they even consider recasting him, the man was a legend
That and he does look like someone you would see run a funeral home.
Yes, there was def a hint of skull.
I love him. He is by far the BEST “villain” in the show.
Check him out in the show the magicians. He plays a demon called astaroth.
Original death was the best death!
Eihän toi Billie oo mitään tohon verrattuna.
Definitely agree!
.
I love how above board Death is compared to the other horsemen. I can't imagine a better or different version of death in any format after seeing Julian.
The old death was much better, then the new death.... i hope he comes back for season 15!🤞🏼
zack stoner I doubt he comes back as death is now Billie so Billie aka death will reap god so his words will still stand
@@zackstoner4523 he = an incarnation of death

i think the real death is that weird black creature in the "nothing"
@@Bleg94 that creature in the empty is the Shadow, and it's the embodiment of entropy(true nothingness). It's older than Death and God
Guys, don't be mad when Death will not "reap God" next season. Hilarious that people believe it will be so easy.
zack stoner reapers have died many times in the show and death was a horsemen which all the horsemen can and have died.
The original Death was one of the best character castings that I've ever seen on TV or in movies. They never should have gotten rid of him.
Nothing against Billie, she's gorgeous. But I wish they'd bring back the og death to the final season.
. . .
There are no words to explain how original death is so terrifying and great his attitude , the way he talks it's like he is so real I just love him big fan I just wished he lasts forever in this show
I like Billy but she is nothing compared to him
Death is that one immutable force that no living thing can resist.
Love it.
You know they're gonna bring back OG Death from the empty and he's gonna reap God. The ultimate end.
Billie has nothing to do against the original Death, she is... Ok, but the original was epic.
Original Death is one of the most amazing introductions, I never tire of watching him, powerful performance by Julian Richings he was born for the role of Death
One does not simply recast Jualian Richings as Death.
I like Billy, but no one could ever top him.
Dont like her but i sleeped on the scenes were she wasnt death yet and i prefer the first death so
Julian Richings played death flawlessly both in look and attitude. Terrific actor!
I like his taste in food and his attitude. Billie, not so much.
No one in supernatural, got your attention more than when the original death walked in the room
If he appeared into a room everyone had to go "Oh shit it's Death"
However now when death shows up in the room everyone goes "Oh it's Billie".
Did you miss me?"
"But... I killed you!"
"Ah, yes, let's waste however much time you like contemplating the ridiculousness of killing death. Go on, whenever you're ready. I've got all the time in the universe."
Really, the very idea of an entity so old that it might just predate the Creator, being killed by a pesky little human...
ikr, though I think Old Death exaggerated that he was older than god/chuck cause he doesn't "remember" but I mean Amara didn't recognize him at all or knew who he was.
@@awasdq7684 bro even God needed help. Multiple times. So your point is?
@@awasdq7684 my initial reply still stands....
Original Death is one of my all-time favorite TV characters ever. He nailed it to perfection.
You know that you're very important when Death tells you, "Keep living."
She should have said "Not today" missed opportunity
The original actor who played death played it perfectly. Clearly powerful, clearly confident, but charming and not inherently evil.
Original Death was the best! He was much more `death like`. I like Billie but the original Death was just so good!
og death had A LOT of personality too, I mean Dean even figured out how to win him over, ethnic food, which makes sense. when you eat food you are essentially eating death as what you are eating is no longer alive, so death might have an interest in how he tastes in different cultures.
"Original death vs billie death" not Even a question original all the way
I love how Dean was really scared and terrified by the original death. It made this version more believable.
Hilarious that people really believe that Chuck will be killed by....Billie. No chance at all.
Reap and kill are different things, anyway. Death can kill God only if he's weakened.
@@kolcarti1432 When was it stated Death can only kill God if weakened in the series?
God is stronger than Death. Death said that he will REAP him. Not KILL him. It's different.
When is it stated in the series God is stronger?
@@paulmccloud9395
Why all these questions lol
Nothing is clear in this show, but God is multiversal while there is a Death in every universe. Death has many weaknesses that God does not have. Amara does not know Death, so it's means that her and God are older than Death. He can reap him? sure. But reaping is not the same as killing, reaping is just essentially "confirming" a death in supernatural. God>Billie. Come on...
Yo this man right here gives a literal meaning to big daddy reaper with his performance. Very well done
"Regardless at the end I'll reap him to" said in almost sad respect of a task he is destined to do with not even a touch of arrogance over the true power he wields... The Best Death
The original pizza eating scene with Death was one of the funniest, craziest, most intense scenes I've ever watched
But I still think its interesting.
x240voltsx I agree. Dean respected and feared him. It’s almost like he isn’t afraid of Billie at all. It’s just not the same.
"Now would you like an instruction manual" just a second ago he was being serious and scary then he being funny. Damn it I love the original death so much.
I liked OG Death... loves food, does his job like a boss!
You're right.
"If you ever attempt to bind me again, you'll be dead before you try. Nice pickle chips, by the way."
" what do you suppose death does to those who lie to him?" Love that line.
Craziest thing about this scene are the dead bodies in the back just casually lying around just by deaths presence
I never understood why they killed off such a great character and replaced him with an average one.
Original Death 💀 Wins all day long. ANY DAY OF THE WEEK!!!!
You can tell ( and ive always admired this even the first time watching this episode ) that Dean is being very careful with what he says. Just showing how much Death truly scared him.
Spot on acting from Jensen.
I have a feeling that when he said "Oh yes, God will die too Dean" he knew exactly what was going to happen and that Dean and Sam would defeat Chuck.
Though not as terrifying, she’s not bad. I don’t see why ppl hate her tbh. I will say Old Death is preferred.
Probably because she's in place of the old Death, everyone wants the old Death instead of her
it's probably like "How dare you stand where he stood" kinda thing
If you think about it they both represent the two sides of death. OG death was scary and unemotional. Billy is softer and emotional. Much like how some fear death, while others welcome it.
There was a series of books called the Incarnations of Immortality. I believe they were written by Piers Anthony. In them, things like Death, War, Time etc were replaced by the human that killed them. It was a great series of books (8 in all I believe), and the one about Death was called On a Pale Horse. If you can find them, might be worth it.
11:51 Curious if there's a book on there where Dean dies from eating pie.
Definitely!
My favorite scene with old death was when Dean fearfully said "Death is our bitch now." You can hear the fear and regret in that sentence.
I think even jensen ackles said that julian kind of scared him too while he was in character
People is so sure about "Death will reap God next season" that...it will never happen lol. Also Chuck reaped by Billie? Eww.
Original Death would reap that peasent Chuck. Billie is just a minion. Dust beneath fingernails.
OG Death is dead, guys. Get over it. And reap and kill are different things.
2 Things:
First, Billie needs about double the time to introduce herself as Death, than Death did with a considerably worse outcome.
I just want the old death to comeback before S15 ends.
I was actually hoping that original death wasn't even effected by the attack and just used it so Winchesters would stop bothering him :P And maybe later we'd see original death again.
Old death all the way also who would win death or the empty???
Billie is just too alive for the roll ya know
The big problem for me is Death’s relation with Dean:
OG: he fears him like hell (litterally) or even more
Billy: he mocks her
He really does look like death. Perfect casting.
Basically telling us how the series will end ... he will return and reap the G man
Chuck even said he liked first death better. I hope they bring him back he was scary and snarky and it worked. Billie is like a big sister telling her little brother what to do while their parents are away
There's nothing to worry about. the old death is more powerful than the new ones
Every universe has gods. Our's has had hundreds.
Mh, yes. But there is only one Chuck.
I guess Death was full of shit if he was just something that exists in all universes, whereas God only exists once.
God and Amara can die. Meaning, Death can reap them. Would be funny, that the OG Death is just a personification of the Empty. And Billie is just promoted by Chuck to fill the gap before Empty/Death re-apears/awakens (he is basically awake due to Jack but you got what I mean. Jack must be as irritating as Cass was)
You know someone's powerful when they're cutting a pizza with a knife and fork, and nobody's saying anything rude to them
The original Death was so awesome
Glad to see I'm not the only one who didn't like billies version of death. The original death was so Badass in every way. Every time he spoke I was all ears.
Of course original Death is Best even god said it.
Billie is like Minion Death just like like Dean's first Death(I don't remember her name)
