If ever a World Championship was more important than an Olympics, this was it. In all the races Phelps has won, he has never celebrated like he did for this one. I truly believe it was the most important race of his career. Unfairly of course, because many medals are won by 0.01 and don't get the video scrutiny Beijing 2008 did, and I'll bet any 0.01 difference can be debated. Beijing 2008 was won because of a mistake by Cavic. But Rome 2009 was won in classic fashion.
This or the 4x100 Free Relay at Beijing. That one was about Phelps' 8th gold, this one was about keeping his butterfly title and proving he was better than Cavic. Either one could be considered greatest I suppose. I love both myself.

I just finished my first season of swimming and my best 100 fly time is a 1:21.19 I just can't even fathom going a 49.82!!!!
