Happy Monday everyone... at least we think its Monday, the days just kind of meld together during this time. Hope you all had a nice holiday weekend! The long-awaited Model Y video is here and we're so excited to share it with you all! Just a side note, the day we filmed this video, Tesla announced later that day that a tow hitch was just made available for $1,000 bucks and it allows for a 3,500 pound capacity. That has been notated in the video already.

I love my Model 3 Performance, but I would not go with 20” wheels if I could do it over again. I can’t imagine putting 21” wheels on this Y. The 21” wheels and tires weigh almost 70 lbs a piece! That’s insanely heavy and it definitely hurts efficiency. Just going from the 18” wheels to the 20” wheels and tires on the Model 3 causes a 20-25% reduction in highway range. I would definitely stick with the stock 19” wheels on the Y.
I take delivery of my model y in about a week. We bought it because need it for the kids. When they get older (have a baby coming in a week too), I'm trading in on a model 3 performance. Model 3 looks so much better, just the model y fits our needs a lot better
I find it to be absurd how everyone complains about body gaps for any Tesla, but never mentions it to any other car brand. Like you don't think a Corolla, Civic, Sentra, or Jetta won't little minor body gaps.
I purchased a Model 3 Performance Edition and I love it. I also have a mini van because my wife and I got a little carried away with the number of kids we have. When the Model Y comes out with a third row, and when they have used vehicles for it, I'll probably trade in the mini-van and the Model 3 Performance for this. I am really looking forward to being able to fit our whole family in a Tesla (X is too expensive, I don't consider that an option).
Not sure why you would think there should be a change to the interior to show that it is an "upgrade" from the 3 as it isn't. The Y is not a higher-end 3, they are meant to be equivalent cars. Just a sedan vs a crossover. Now I can see desiring a aesthetic upgrade for the performance version on the inside vs. a 'standard' version but that is true of 3 and Y.
Why does everyone test the performance one? Most families don’t want to pay 10k for a stiffer suspension and acceleration that has no real world application. The standard does a 12.7 1/4 and has better 50-70 acceleration than 90% of cars on the road.
Funny to see people judging Sofyan for being a Tesla fanboy and saying the interior of these "look" cheap. First of all, have you ever been in one? Because "looking" and feeling is very different. Second, you've obviously never test-driven one, or any EV for that matter. I daily a fully loaded 2018 Golf and I tested an E-Golf twice. That E-Golf is BY FAR superior in every driving aspect compared to the gas one. Even though the standard Golf is very refined to drive, it really shows just how last-century gas cars are. Unecessary noises (95% of cars out there aren't burbly V8s or straight sixes. Just sayin), small vibrations, slight jerking of your head when shifting, awful smells, possibility of intoxicating yourself and dying in a garage... Dinosaur juice? Oil changes? Transmission fluids? Timing belts? So unecessary. Once you go BEV, it's hard to go back.
Vlad Saghin everyone complains about the things they have never used. I agree with you, actually sit in one and use everything. Not that difficult. Also everyone just “forgets” autopilot, it’s so convenient and safe. If you don’t like the looks then don’t get it, anything comparable will be burning gas and killing our lungs. Also nobody seems to think about real world acceleration. You aren’t going to race past 100 on the streets and it can beat almost everything in that range. So what if the steering isn’t as locked as a Porsche, most of you ain’t going to the track, you’re just racing past that guy in the m2 at a mid city stop light or going for a mountain drive.
@@sethsimmons5473 People also forget running costs. If you drive more that 20k miles a year, the car almost pays for itself with gas and maintenance savings lol
Also complaining about off road capabilities is stupid. It was never designed to be some crazy off road car, and it’s electric, where are you going to charge on a long trip. Another thing is people complaining about all the issues. How many issues do ice cars have every day? How many things can you expect to change and replace in its lifetime? Does your car get updates to fix it or do you pay Lary to figure out what went wrong? The maintenance cost on a tesla if you charge intelligently and don’t push it to a charge station and have to get towed is tires and wiper fluid.
@@sethsimmons5473 this... this... this... and I track my. model 3 performance.... and have hurt a few feelings out there... is the Tesla perfect no, no car is perfect. But as a one trick pony, its pretty damn good, plus I wake up to a full ( 80-90% charge) everyday if I wanted to.
@Speed Limit Reviews exactly. And it’s not even just a one trick pony! Besides, most people don’t have a track that would suffer of the tesla top speed cap. It may not be the most amazing track car, but match it against anything in its price range and it will give it a run for its money and still be comfortable on the streets with autopilot and some killer red light drag times. I don’t think you can turn on the heated seats while in your house with the car in the garage with an m2😂
The seats are not "kind of"on the elevated risers they actually ARE on the elevated risers. You can't kind of recline in the backseat, you actually can reclined recline. You can't kind of stare out the window in the backseat, you actually can stare out the window in the backseat.

I decided I didn’t care about the 0 to 60 time so I wasn’t interested in the performance model, that’s just too much temptation & Cops still give out tickets for speeding!LOL!😎 But the duel motor has plenty of get & go power so I’m just thrilled to be driving the Tesla Model 3, it’s everything I have ever wanted in a personal automobile & then some! So I gave you 2 thumbs up for content & quality & thanks again for posting the video! Looking forward to seeing you on your next video!👍
I just can't accept this as an SUV? what exactly makes it an SUV? it's got 1 INCH more ground clearance? I know that 1 inch can make a big difference in some scenarios, but this isn't one of them.
Benjamin Francis I agree. An inch can make a huge difference! 😏 but this is certainly not an SUV in Performance trim. It’s essentially a raised hatchback.
@@brybrysofly4093 however I do agree its not a SUV, its crossover but its for NOT a off road vehicle at all. like how the X6 X3 GLC its in the market but I think its a little lower than the G
Maybe it’s just me but I really don’t like the Tesla interior. I don’t want a huge computer/tablet controlling everything. Also the plastic and leather looks really cheap.
It isn't just you, but we've been conditioned to think luxury is about how many buttons or leather you have in your car. I don't see it that way. I have a Model X. I walk up to my car, and the door opens, I get in and it closes. Lots of things that Tesla does that I'd consider actual luxuries. Summon Mode, Etc. They actually make my experience better. I couldn't care less about how many tuscan bulls were killed to line my car with "Luxury".
The real selling point is the supercharger network which allows you to travel long distances, no other car manufacture has that. Also the interior is "vegan" aka fake leather
@John Edwards have you ever tried using one? their fast charging is a joke and speeds are not comparable. Half the time the charging stations are out of service. Main point is, there are none in the middle of no where in the US unlike tesla
The interior looks like a hit, with no lights everywhere to distract you. The quality of the leather is excellent, it can spill coffee or even spaghetti and nothing happens.
You’re wrong on the cargo space comparison with the model 3. It’s not 15 cu feet in the model 3, that’s with rear seat in place. If u fold the rear seats (like u did here) it’s 48 cu feet
Who is your new camera person, and what is he doing?? His work is quite jarring! What’s with all the low to the ground shots and the persistent camera movement. I just want to tell him/her to STOP moving!
Rear hatch door extends over to top 40% half of rear bumper. Its made out of aluminum, so dent repair is not easy. Rear end collision will cost thousands in repair even at low speed. I am guessing this will make insurance very high over time. There is no hitch, or place to mount the hitch, so rear end is going to be game changer for many people's decision.
"Just a matter of other automakers playing catch-up" No hate or anything in fact I want other automakers to join the EV revolution but after recent economic events and the lack luster will of traditional OEM automakers do you really think the competition will catch-up? We have been hearing the competition argument for YEARS now and I just cringe every time I hear it now. I have lost all faith in traditional OEM's...
Hudrey Aepburn Yeah if not for dieselgate VW (considered the leading legacy automaker when making the switch) would’ve likely never invested so much in EVs, clearly they don’t care for the environment and people’s health if merely 5 years ago they were still trying to cover up the criminal underestimation of their diesel vehicles emissions leading to thousands of premature deaths even if they had met the emission standards. I guess necessity really is the mother of invention.
Yeah, I don't see other automakers catching up. Tesla is moving much faster and has a large lead. The other automakers also lack core competencies needed for top quality EVs, such as software engineering.
Yeah traditionals are fighting themselves and their dealerships. There is almost no money to be made post sale on Tesla compared to thousands I have to spend on my German cars just for routine servicing
@Richard Iredale "...not having to rely on cables at home..." This is the easiest part as an owner. Every morning you start with full range after a nightly recharge. More comfortable than visiting petrol stations...
Over 10 years at an average of 15k miles/year, the Model Y will save you $18,500 in gas over those 10 years. When you factor in oil changes and other maintenance over those 10 years, you can easily subtract $20,000 from the price of the model Y. (A lot more if you drive a lot more). There's nothing in it's current price range that can compete with it, let alone when you factor in the savings.
I tried to like the model Y and wanted to buy it but couldn't get over there not being a speedometer in front of you. It's a really dumb decision to move the speed reading to the center console.
5:20 - The floor boards are only rated to 130 lbs? That means I can't step on them when moving things inside? Seems like a pretty low rating, especially when you consider rear facing backseat passengers will eventually get incorporated into the trunk...
@@Tariq888 Sofyan meant the bucket compartment under the flooring that is rated at 130 lbs. The actual flooring should definitely be rated way over 130 lbs.
Tesla= Exotic body kit over an electric Golf cart with an iPad Pro screen lol My Mazda CX-5 has charging USB and USB-C plugs in the back seat armrest... with kids on their devices in the long range drives it’s a life saver. Yes you can buy after market but I paid $15000 less for more futures.
Ali Sadat the Model Y starts at 40k. I’m guessing you paid 33k for your Mazda... oh and spend 4x more on fuel and maintenance. And Tesla has 2 USB ports in dash,
At some point, we gotta stop calling every vehicle taller than a regular car an SUV. That term implies some sort of offroad prowess or at least a modicum of ruggedness. This has none of that.
Love your reviews, but I'm looking for your take on the CT4 V RWD, Raiti's Rides is the only RUclipsr to have an in-depth review. I feel this car should be able to out handle it's competition, including the model 3. As always keep up the good work!
Stop looking at total price. Take off incentives and gas over 6 years. It's affordable, if you stop looking at the total price. Trust me, I was told the same with my Model 3. Im not rich, and it's cheaper than my Mini Countryman was.
Sometimes the bolts are found to be unnecessary and instead of replacing the part they just won't use the bolts to save on costs. Check out Munro Live Tesla videos for further explanation.
@@VioletPrism As the cover seems to hang loose a little, I don't think the bolt is unnecessary. But I watched Munro Live and agree that it sometimes is the case. However it seems weird that two bolts would sit so near to each other anyway.
Mine was missing 3 on the rear tray. Luckily I do my own work and have chosen to just fix most of the Tesla quality issues myself. They are built like junk
I have driven my new Model 3 for one month. Mix feeling, Tesla is not as good as I thought. Autopilot is a disappointment, got multiple Phantom Breaking, it was extremely dangerous.
Jun Chen Exactly. My friends who build Teslas have lots of crazy stories to tell about the autopilot thing. It’s dangerous! My Explorer does almost the exact same thing, but it’s done smartly. The car monitors my eyes and where I’m looking. If I take my eyes off the road for even one second, the car beeps and turns autopilot off. It’s just there to help you stay in your lane and remain a safe stopping distance from the next car in front of you. I’ll take that any day over Tesla.
Yeah I've had a 3 performance for almost a year now and it's been in the shop every other month. Disappointed. Should have gotten a Lexus ES hybrid tbh.
Not a fan of the looks (interior and exterior) of this car. Kinda looks cheap. Any how about that large computer screen…seems like it would be a distraction during night driving. If we could take the speed/performance and put it in the VW ID 4, I would take the VW over this. To each his own I guess. Great review!
EVs tend to re-purpose the engine compartment to add more interior space, so they're bigger on the inside than a typical car that has an engine, don't underestimate the value of a few more inches of interior space thanks to the modern EV's more room efficient skateboard design. It's deceptively roomy for its size, yet offers more storage space in the front and back thanks to those extra compartments, so in reality it's pretty similar to some of the other products in this category in interior specs: www.edmunds.com/tesla/model-y/2020/features-specs/ www.edmunds.com/audi/q5/2020/features-specs/ I would say it's a comfortable compact SUV on the inside, but nimble like a sedan on the outside due to dual motors and low center of gravity, and better weight distribution from not having a front heavy engine, yes.
The Model Y’s storage capacity is 66 cubic feet. BMW X3 - 62.7, Audi Q5 - 53.1. If it’s a hatchback, it’s a hatchback with more storage than most crossovers 😂😂
Great review....I think this will be my next SUV in 10 years after I drive my new Telluride to the ground..by then, electric cars should be mainstream.
Interior mods for personalization have aftermarket vendor galore.... Frankly Tesla could use a blank canvas strategy making it easier for vendors and owners to mod while allowing the NEXT owner easy remod to their heart's desire
The music is the intro I agree is the signature. But the volume vs his voice volume needs to be adjusted in editing. When you can barely hear what he’s saying, that’s not a signature. It’s poor editing
I picked up my model y performance two weeks ago and can't believe out fun it is to drive with the utility of a family wagon. Anybody that takes a test drive usually is convinced instantly. At least that's been the case with the people I know that have been a little skeptical of Tesla
Lower profile tyres give a less comfortable ride because there is less air and rubber (between the wheel and road) , so the better ride on the Y vs the 3 is not contradictory.
Perfect family car for those with deep pockets. If this was 40k they would sell a ton of them. These cars have to get cheaper to compete with Toyota, GM, or Honda. Impressive though!
@John Edwards Every Tesla comes with Autopilot. Full self driving is the extra cost option. As for performance, even the base Model 3 has substantial performance. Your argument has no meat behind it.
It makes sense that the interior is identical to the 3, it is based on the Model 3 after all. Just look at GLC and a C-Class or X5 and 5 Series, all the same stuff
Most likely, is a under statement. These are same people that will complain about someone buying a 37k civic type R and still say it’s still a civic. It’s also the same people who run around and try to show how much they love America, and yet trash and bash and do damage to people who support an a American brand. Same people who say people who buy Tesla are buying it for status blah blah blah. These are the same people who buy 80k pickup trucks and never tow haul or go off road with it. The same people who end up buying one and then keeping it secret, same people who block the charger for no apparent reason and yet would be up in arms if a Tesla parked at a gas pump. There are plenty of people who are F150 buyers, not for the functionality of truck just because they like that design. I don’t understand what the big deal is if someone wants a Tesla or a Geo tracker. But all this hate needs to stop and it needs to go back to the times where people respected others because it’s the right thing to do. The big question I want asked is what did Tesla do that’s so different from any other maker? All they did was build something totally new and different. It’s not their fault that people like it. Maybe it’s a good thing they’re design language and way of doing thing ( when they do them right) is shaking up the market. Cars have been pretty static for a long time. Pickup trucks haven’t changed significantly since they have been brought to market. Change isn’t always good but sometimes it take someone to have the balls to at least try. People tend to forget that Tesla start in 2003, and built its first car in 2008 and mass produced its first sedan in 2012. With a huge mass production of the model 3 in 2017. That is a short time very short time. All of the legacy makers have been doing this for 30+years. I don’t want to be a huge Tesla fan boy, I’m die hard Honda fan at heart, but Tesla is on to something here and it’s obviously good enough to disrupt the market enough for everyone to be scrambling to produce an EV. Electric pickup truck will change the game for sure. It will change what you can do with them. How fast they are how much the can pull and push. Take tech to another level. That’s something the other auto makers aren’t not doing. Wasn’t even on their radar. Most of them just 10 years ago were saying evs are stupid they’re never work look where we are now. And if you really want to talk about a cult following nothing will beat Toyota with the freakin camry Ford with its F150. we see a lot of cars on the road. And it’s plenty of road for more to join. If you don’t like Tesla so much why do people go out of there way to find a Tesla video and post on it? Oh that’s right, because you are free to do so without an explanation as why. Same thing applies to buying Tesla, liking Tesla, whatever. Currently Tesla is one of the highest value holding car currently. A lot more than people with Ford Fusion hybrids, and audi and so on. You can’t please internet people.
Planning to buy the Y when it comes to Denmark, so thank you for the video. But you are actually sitting higher than the inch you talked about. The seat are, as you also showed, mounted way higher and that is perfect for my 6,1 feet and also the the passanger at the back seat.

Awesome review!! I’ve watched a ton of these and by far, this was the best and most comprehensive! Thank you!
I find it to be absurd how everyone complains about body gaps for any Tesla, but never mentions it to any other car brand. Like you don't think a Corolla, Civic, Sentra, or Jetta won't little minor body gaps.
model S
model 3
model X
model Y
OH YEA ITS ALL COMING TOGETHER
Cybertruck
(We will see, probatly somethiong with an A)
Roadster
Semi
Oh yes, these are all SEXY CARS!
I am really looking forward to being able to fit our whole family in a Tesla (X is too expensive, I don't consider that an option).
best walkthrough ive seen by far. nice job guys
Also competes with the larger Merc GLE 43/53 AMG Coupe as the cargo space equivalent. Literally 1/2 price for better performance!
And don’t forget the maintenance savings I made the change from Porsche and haven’t looked back.
I do like the exterior proportions and silhouette of this. But honestly, someone needs to make a $25k electric car.
Daniel C - I think the 2020 Nissan Leaf base model is around $25K after the Federal Tax Credit.
@@hyperlicht problem with the leaf is, they fixed their god awful design, it looks really decent now but they didn't fix their battery cooling system. The batteries will degrade just as bad and trust me, its BAD
P Koya - Excellent point.
P Koya I do remember hearing about that. Definitely a deal breaker
@@hyperlicht that basically means that unless you're factoring in a federal tax credit, you're talking about a car that's essentially the same price as a Model 3.... and I expect the tax credit situation to be very fluid with political and economic uncertainty

Tesla should rename its acceleration pedal the "giggle" pedal.
Nice review, you're always enjoyable to listen to, appreciate the effort!
Sofian is absolutely brilliant love the reviews!
Great review 👍
Nicest cat Tesla has built to date, in my opinion.
It just hits a sweet spot in the automobile market (ICE or EV)
I love that laugh and smile during the test drive. I hope to experience that feeling as we’re looking to get one of these for my wife. Although (insert sad face) we probably won’t get the Performance

Excellent review as always & thank you for posting the video & a shout out to the person who allowed you to use his Model Y to produce this video! I am absolutely thrilled to be to be an owner of a Tesla model 3 & I am thrilled to see how the Model Y has developed! I think it’s probably going to be Teslas most popular car since the Model 3! I bought my Model 3 back in 2018 & I got the duel motor, premium paint, premium wheels, premium interior, extended range battery pack Full Self Driving!
It looks appealing. That being said, I might wait a year or two for the final build quality to improve.
I just can't accept this as an SUV? what exactly makes it an SUV? it's got 1 INCH more ground clearance? I know that 1 inch can make a big difference in some scenarios, but this isn't one of them.
this is performance model. it is lowered from the factory. the non performance one sit higher.
@John Edwards that's not the point. Try driving an Etron from California to New York, or any other long road trip. It's currently a pain in the ass.
Getting my Y in few weeks but I opted for the 20 inch black wheels with white interior. 0-60 in 3.5 is insane!
I love how he covered up the speed because he was going to fast
The performance is $60k. At that price buy ICE and all the gas for over 100k miles
Oh God, one day I will get a Tesla
@Richard Iredale "...not having to rely on cables at home..." This is the easiest part as an owner. Every morning you start with full range after a nightly recharge. More comfortable than visiting petrol stations...

2015 Benz C400 gap and alignment issues galore, bought brand new. zero accidents.
$70K is a relatively affordable vehicle?!?!?! To whom, the top one percent?
Over 10 years at an average of 15k miles/year, the Model Y will save you $18,500 in gas over those 10 years. When you factor in oil changes and other maintenance over those 10 years, you can easily subtract $20,000 from the price of the model Y. (A lot more if you drive a lot more). There's nothing in it's current price range that can compete with it, let alone when you factor in the savings.
70k is most expensive version
I wish tesla would add a ventilated seat option to their mode 3 & Y, and a HUD display so you don't have to look at the screen all the time
You can order model y with a tow hitch now. Already dated info.
70K dollars is really close to dual motor Model S 410 Mile range....I would want the Model S
Panel gaps not withstanding, what’s not to love about the Model Y? Another great review, thanks again Sofyan!
The low payload of just 402 kg. It is a car for 4 adults with limited luggage.
I tried to like the model Y and wanted to buy it but couldn't get over there not being a speedometer in front of you. It's a really dumb decision to move the speed reading to the center console.
17:09 Upper left quadrant of the display is blurred out. Isn’t that where the speed is displayed? 🤔 Hmmmm... 😉😆

Don't sleep and drive like those dead Tesla drivers who relied on it
Jun Chen pay attention.
@@shahaan400 For what reasons?

Not a fan of the looks (interior and exterior) of this car. Kinda looks cheap. Any how about that large computer screen…seems like it would be a distraction during night driving. If we could take the speed/performance and put it in the VW ID 4, I would take the VW over this. To each his own I guess. Great review!
I don't think this is a SUV or crossover. More like a Hatchback
EVs tend to re-purpose the engine compartment to add more interior space, so they're bigger on the inside than a typical car that has an engine, don't underestimate the value of a few more inches of interior space thanks to the modern EV's more room efficient skateboard design.
It's deceptively roomy for its size, yet offers more storage space in the front and back thanks to those extra compartments, so in reality it's pretty similar to some of the other products in this category in interior specs:
www.edmunds.com/tesla/model-y/2020/features-specs/
www.edmunds.com/audi/q5/2020/features-specs/
I would say it's a comfortable compact SUV on the inside, but nimble like a sedan on the outside due to dual motors and low center of gravity, and better weight distribution from not having a front heavy engine, yes.
The Model Y’s storage capacity is 66 cubic feet. BMW X3 - 62.7, Audi Q5 - 53.1. If it’s a hatchback, it’s a hatchback with more storage than most crossovers 😂😂

I picked up my model y performance two weeks ago and can't believe out fun it is to drive with the utility of a family wagon. Anybody that takes a test drive usually is convinced instantly. At least that's been the case with the people I know that have been a little skeptical of Tesla
I love that at 0:43, the shutter is sync'ed to the wheels, so it looks like the Y is cruising past with spinners. 😂

Every Tesla comes with Autopilot.
Everyone who’s complaining most likely wasn’t even going to buy it...
